The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We stayed there Nov 7-9 and returned Nov 23-25. We were greeted with a welcome back, it’s so nice to see you again. The breakfast was better than any Choice property we have stayed at previously. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent city break in the eternal city

Excellent service and very good location. Numerous restaurants nearby, I recommend trying Vladimiros. Well located for the Villa Borghese and gardens, the Spanish steps and metro and bus tour stops. The hotel is very clean and room servicing is excellent. There is a good selection in the buffet breakfast and the staff are attentive and thoroughly topping up as needed. If there are several of you the hotel transfer to the airport is good value and reliable.

Hotel in great location with wonderful staff

The lovely young man at reception was very helpful with all our queries and we were also so pleased that our room was ready even though we arrived early
Our room was on the top floor. The room itself is on the smaller side but with a large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom
The breakfast is great with a variety of hot and cold food, fresh fruit and pastries. They also have a pancake maker.
The hotel is in a wonderful quiet location and within walking distance to attractions
The friendly staff and great location made our stay very comfortable

The hotel was adequate. The room was clean, but stank of cigarette smoke. The room was not very soundproof as one morning I was woken by a guest in the next room clearly going to the toilet. The breakfast was ok, an adequate range of food but nothing outstanding, the bacon and egg were only lukewarm. The man on reception I spoke to was mostly helpful but not particularly pleasant or friendly. In fact on the last day he was down right rude and unhelpful over the fact he had no change when I tried to pay the tourist tax. I pointed out may be he should inform guests they would need the exact money at the start of their stay so they could make sure they have it ready, his response; that it was not his problem. The hotel is about a 10-15 walk to the nearest underground station or bus stop. Overall, though the hotel was not terrible I would not bother to go back there or recommend it, there are many other hotels to choose from.

Friends recommended we stay here. The hotel was adequate; room was very small but bathroom was quite spacious. We specifically asked for and were given a double bed instead of the standard European issue two twin beds pushed together (which, if you snuggle your partner, tend to creep apart during the night!) The hotel was a few blocks from a taxi stand, Hard Rock Cafe and the US Embassy. There were lots of good restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast buffet was good. The hotel arranged for a fixed price taxi to the airport which was fine and cheaper than what taking a metered taxi would have cost. The hotel is within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and one of the stops of the big double decker tour buses.

Quaint hotel, within walking distance Via Veneto.

Overall my experience was good. The only complaint is the rooms are small, especially with two women sharing a room. We had shutters and when opened they still did not let in enough light.

Great Stay to visit Rome

Where are the 4 stars

For the hotel with 3x3 m2 just enough for bed, where you have no even pencil or writing paper or where you can not keep open windows, but you can clearly hear next door, there is no safe or even bath as in the offer this is the worst hotel we ever stayed. Receptionist are very rude, so hopefully you don't need any advice. Plus forget breakfast if you are not hungry as they serve food/pastry min 3 days old.Horrible place for that rating.

I would give a review had I been able to stay here. However, when I turned up with my friends to check in, the manager informed me that there was no room, as two were out of action. I don't know if this is code for being over booked, but we were transferred to the Hotel Turner which was much further out, very nice, but not where wanted to stay.

Great hotel in a quieter section of Rome

We had a wonderful stay at the Principessa Isabella. The location was about a mile from the \"downtown\" Rome attractions which was just enough to feel like we weren't in the center of the madness but not so far away as to be prohibitive. There's a couple cute restaurants in the area and a beautiful park nearby, so it is a good location. The hotel was very clean.

The rooms were refreshed daily. The staff was wonderful. They spoke perfect English and were very warm to us every time they saw us. Breakfast is complimentary and served daily, and they had a nice spread of croissants, meats, eggs, yogurt, cereal and coffee and tea.

Our bed was huge, and the room was a nice size too. There was a giant soaking tub and a great shower. The only downside is that the walls and floors are rather thin (tiled, not carpeted), and we could hear our very loud neighbors morning and night. Mostly, this was not a problem, but there were two sleepless nights. We never approached the hotel about this because it wasn't a huge deal to us, but if you're a light sleeper or traveling with kids, this might be an issue. Otherwise, I have no complaints and would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Rome but not eager to stay right in the heart of the city.

I wanted a hotel that would allow my husband, 2 teenage daughters and me to stay in same room. hotel was nice, good price for 4 star rating, in a nice neighborhood of rome (banks, embassies). Close to the train station, so we walked to the hotel. But to get around rome, it is a bit of a walk to the nearest metro Barbereni or Spanish steps.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious enough for four people and clean bedding was put on everyday. Breakfast was enjoyable , a little more variety of fruit would have been nice but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is nice if you want to be a little away from the hustle and bustle. Nearest underground and bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk.

Very nice stay, staff very friendly and breakfast was well presented. Rooms were very small! Had two suitcases and no space to put them anywhere in r room. The bed took up almost all the room. Location was good but everything was a 30 min walk away. And slightly difficult to find hotel again.

This is not a four star hotel. At best this is a 3 star hotel. The rooms were very small and no personal toilette items and unclean.. The day time staff was very unpleasant. There is no room service. The breakfast that is included in the room price is the worst breakfast we ever had In many years of traveling. I would never recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel in a relatively quiet and nice area of Rome. Plenty of restaurants and is within walking distance of the main attractions. Buffet breakfast was nice, although real fruit juice was not available and the coffee could be better.The food was very nice.

The room was well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The bed was also very good.and we slept well. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Great little hotel with marble floors. Elegantly decorated. In the process of remodeling other rooms for expansion. Breakfast room with a very nice breakfast. Courteous staff. walking distance to most of the sights in Rome. A few blocks from Via Veneto & Villa Borghese.I gave a 4 rating to condition only because of the stairway landing where they are doing renovations. The rooms being used, the halls, lobby, breakfast room and bar area are all very nice and newly updated.

Need to improve costumer service

Pros- clean, up to date hotel, breakfast included (scambled eggs, bacon, cereal, toast, tea, coffee). Located about 30-40 minutes from the main attractions on foot.

Cons-
-No US compatiable adapters available for charging phone and camera. Notified concierge , I was told to go outside and purchase adapter connection, stated \" had three in the hotel but were taken by americans, so you have to buy your own.\"

-No bellhop available to assist with luaggage.
-Asked concierge personnel to call our shuttle service (40 euro) to setup pickup for return to airport due to langauge barrier, refused to call because the hotel provides there own shuttle service (50 euro). When asked about cost for call was told to go outside and use the pay phone and the rates will be available there. After much debate, the desk clerk made the call which cost 32 cents but charged 1 euro for the call on bill.
-Also tried to overbill us by stating we used items in the mini bar.

Marlo made our stay at Principessa

Did not expect the high level of service and quality in this hotel. The staff were a delight. They were very helpful in particularily Marlo - what a gem! The hotel has just been renovated so it is like staying in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and the cute cook was a plus. We were able to walk to most tourist locations and were only 5 minutes away from the Villa Borghese which is the largest public park in Rome and about 10 minutes from the Spanish Steps. Well done to the staff and management of the Principessa.

The location is very nice but the rooms are very uncomfortable. The bed is made of two single beds which disconnect all the time!! The rooms are small and cold without autonomous heaters. The staff is not supportive. I would never go back in that hotel.

hotel is situated in a lovely area and a short walk to the spanish steps yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. We arranged a ride to Civitavecchia through the hotel which was a very scary ride with the driver looking like he was falling asleep at the wheel. The front desk was mixed with friendly and courteous staff, to very rude morning staff who were annoyed by questions. The breakfast room was bleak with a lack of fruit provided for breakfast, I understand however that a renovated breakfast room was ready to open in the next week. Overall happy with our stay.

Decent location, breakfast was adequate, and room was tidy and modern. The only problem was that they charged me an additional 6 euro for \"city tax\" on top of what I was supposed to pay through Hotel Clubs booking. When I questioned the charge, and pointed out that the confirmation voucher stated taxes were included in the booking fee, I was told that the city tax was not included. I would not stay here again on principle alone.

The Principesa Tea is a comfortable, clean and reasonably priced hotel in the Via Veneto area. Our room on the 4th floor was nice. It was clean, nicely decorated and roomy. The bathroom was very nice and we had a nice balcony. There was a closet but no chest of drawers or shelves making clothing storage difficult. Wireless internet reached our room and was reasonably priced 2 Euro per hour. Breakfast was OK (boiled eggs, meats, cheese, nice breads, cornetto, juice, coffee) but the breakfast room was not very nice. It was in the basement and was hot and stuffy. Desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Biggest problem we had was at checkout. We had a small (6 Euro) balance for the minibar but didn't have enough cash. We weren't allowed to put our incidentals on a credit card. We scrounged enough change to pay the bill but it was awkward. I don't understand why they couldn't take a credit card.

Small hotel in a great neighborhood.

This hotel has been a hotel for the last 100 years, so the building has character. the rooms have been completely renovated and they are very comfortable. We had a great time here because location is unbeatable, very close to Via Veneto and Metro Barberini, with many buses leaving us at the corner of the hotel. Neighborhood is very safe and overall it was excellent for the price.

A nice little place

While the downstairs definitely needs to be renovated like the rest of the hotel, our famiy of four (parents two teens) really liked this hotel. Teh staff were friendly, the rooms quite nice and the bathrooms were really a nive surprise! Location is also quite good, with lovely local shops and restaurants close by.

A great find near Villa Borghese

The attentiveness of the staff made our trip even more enjoyable. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Termini and two blocks from Villa Borghese. The lobby is no indication of how lovely the rooms are. We look forward to visiting the Principessa Tea Hotel again soon. What an awesome find.

Good location, iffy service

The small hotel is located in a great location right off the Via Veneto. It is surrounded by very good but somewhat pricey restaurants befiting the neighborhood.
The hotel rooms a re small even by Rome standards. The bathroom was even smaller without anyplace to put toiletries. The room was comfortable, but service was lacking from the very freindly staff. I asked for an extra pillow, but they couldn't find one. I had a problemn with the TV. Thet said someone would be up-no one ever showed.
If you choose this hotel be aware of this.
However, the overall experience was fine. I would go back in a pinch.

A pretty good sleep

Arrived tired and weary from travelling. Room was good. Breakfast was available but we didn't have time to take it in. Some staff speak good English, some others not so good. Room was pleasant, if small. No hot water when we were there - not so pleasant. While in the Via Veneto area, hotel is off the beaten track and at least 20 minutes or more from the Spanish Steps.

A Pleasant Stay

My boyfriend and I went to Rome for a long weekend. We arrived at the hotel and were given the keys to our room which was on the same floor as reception. I was horrifed when I opended the door and saw the interior of the room. It was smelly, damp and extremely uninviting. The bed was dressed in 1960's bedcovers and certainly did not look like somewhere you wanted to spend the night. The paint on the walls was all cracked and the walls were full of mould. The floor tiles were also chipped with bits missing. The bathroom was tiny with a shower inside a small bath with a dirty looking shower curtain. I reported my disappointment to the gentleman manning reception who did not seem at all surprised by my dissatisfaction with the room. He said there were no other rooms available that night but to speak to the hotel manager the next morning which I did. The manager said he would move our bags to one of the superior rooms that day. When we got back after a long day sightseeing we had been allocated a room on the first floor and the difference was amazing. The room was fantastic, incredibly clean and fitted with all the mod cons. The bathroom was also very modern and a pleasure to use.

5 star quality rooms if you get the refurbished ones

To cut a long story short, our party arrived at the hotel and were given 2 rooms on the same floor as reception. They were damp, old, out of date, smelly and generally not comfortable or pleasant. After asking to be moved we went upstairs to the most wonderful, new, clean and tastefully refurbished rooms. They had been renovated to a very high standard and we adored them. We were told that only the downstairs now has to be renovated but I cant understand why they still rent these lower rooms out as they are awful and can only make visitors rate the hotel very poorly. If we hadnt been moved my score would have been very poor indeed. As it is, we found the hotel, service and new rooms wonderful and would definately stay in this hotel again.

The lobby of the hotel was extremely hot...no a/c, and we had to wait until after 2pm to check in after an all night flight to get there. Desk clerks were less than cordial. The room was fine. Many steps to the hotel lobby made it difficult to drag heavy bags up to the lobby.

Refinished rooms comfortable and contemporary

The hotel was clearly under renovation though it did not affect our stay. We could only tell due to the dramatic difference between 60s décor in the entryway and our very contemporary room. Temperature controlled rooms in August were a major plus, flat screen tvs, refit bathrooms, safe in the room and a first, US, UK and continental European plugs in the room. The help was hot and cold, other exceptional or dismal, and remembering our wakeup call would have been nice but welcome to Europe. We travel through Europe often an this is an excellent value. We definitely recommend.

We stayed at this hotel July 2009 for 6 nights. Clean room with airconditioning. We were in 326 (a triple). Very spacious. You can walk to many areas if you are in shape. San Marco is a lovely nearby restaurant but there is not much else in terms of eating/shopping. But quiet area and the aquaduct wall is nearby. Staff spoke English but some very limited.

Great place! I found the staff to be friendly, outgoing, and english-speaking. All were knowledgable about tourist attractions and offered tips on where the locals go (and where they don't). The rooms have been recently renovated in grand style. Some have AC, some don't (mine didn't)... though it was hot outside, if you use the windows and shutters like they're meant to be used, the room will be cool and pleasant at night (I was there in mid-June). Breakfasts were tradtional for the area, fresh, plentiful, and tasty; the dining area is cafe' like - well appointed and furnished yet comfortable and unassuming. It was easy to get to... I took the train from the airport to the termini, then a short bus ride on the 910 to the corner of Piemonte & Sardegna, a short stroll down Sardegna and I was there - total cost about 16 Euro. If you have alot of luggage, call ahead to the hotel, they will have a car waiting for you at the airport for the round-trip price of 45 Euro (taxis charge that or more one-way). There's plenty of bus and subway lines within a couple blocks that will take you anywhere you could possibly want to go.

A wonderful respite

After a very disappointing hotel in Amsterdam and a better, but still not very good one in London, the Principessa was a delight. We had one of the recently remodeled rooms, and they were gorgeous. Big, airy, huge bath, a lovely triple for me and my two teens. The staff were helpful, kind, gracious and charming. I can't say enough about a very pleasant stay. Near the Via Veneto, and a grocery and some good little restaurants all within a couple blocks. Beautiful area, fairly quiet.

Pleasant surprise

The building facade was anything but inspiring since the building is being refurbished, but the hotel room was a pleasant surprise, as well as the breakfast (good variety in comparison o other hotels we stayed in Italy and France). The hotel is within walking distance from many interesting sites in Rome and the metro. We do recommend it. Good value for money.

They tried to give us an old hotel room that was in very rough shape. It took a half hour of negotiating until they gave us a new room. It was not until we took pictures of the old room and told them that we would send them to expedia that they gave us a new room. The new rooms were quite nice and are the ones shown on the website. The hotel is under construction and we would recommend another hotel until they are complete.

Great location For walkers

Great location for people that don't mind a medium amount of walking to metro stops. We enjoyed our stay except the air conditioning either wasn't on or it wasn't working. We used the windows to cool down the room, which worked out fine in mid May. Very close to the Via Veneto shopping district. Which is on your way to the metro if you would like to use it. Very easy city to navigate!

Fairly good location, renovated rooms are small but there is no air conditioning (even in May that would have been required). Undergoing extensive renovations with a lot of noise and a very scary elevator.

Highly recommended!

Got a brand new renovated room with a balcony and an amazing view! The a/c was out of service but the balcony doors cooled the room. The hotel staff were very friendly and always happy to help. The hotel is in a very posh area of Rome. Breakfast is served from 7 - 10 but no fruit, otherwise very filling. Try taking a trip to Florence and Pisa is only an hour away from there.

Great location for the price

I was surprised of the room, it was very nicely decorated and clean. I could have been a little bigger but it was only myself. There was some remodeling but did not interfered with my rest. Breakfast could have been better served, expecting fresh cappuccino not from a machine being in Italy. Also, I would have liked a hot breakfast with eggs and some potatoes, but over all the hotel and the staff were pleasant and eager to help. Location was good and walking distance to a lot of must see locations. I would stay there again next year with my wife and would recommend room 545 with balcony and roomy bathroom.

Could have been better

We found the hotel clean and adequate. Our only problem was we paid for a quad room and received a triple into which the staff placed a cot for the 4th bed. There was no room to walk around the beds let alone open suitcases etc. The shower stall was small as most european hotels have. The complimentary breakfast was fine although a little fruit would have been appreciated. The hotel was still undergoing renovation so at times there was noise early in the morning as the workmen began. The elevator was quite slow but the stairs were often blocked by the renovation work forcing everyone to wait for the elevator. If we had been 2 or 3 people in the room I think it would have been fine but for 4 I don't think I would do it again.

Jag tycker om gamla klassiska hotell eftersom de har en nedärvd ambition att göra gott för sina kunder. Efter en tråkig start bättrade sig hotellet och blev både trevligt och acceptabelt. Personalen sätter en så tydlig standard. Frukosten är okej men inte perfekt.

Tyst läge i tryggt område

Med tyst och avskiljt läge hittar man det här hotellet med rejäla rum i bra materialval. Kanske något tråkigt men söker man sömn i tysta rum är detta ett bra val i ett tryggt område. Personalen är nedtonad och korrekt. Frukosten är okej och prisnivån rimligen.

Liten hotel i rolig området

Hotel ligger i rolig området med kort avstand til buss og metro. Behjelpelig og hyggelig personalet. Passer fint for kort opphold. Fordel at god frokost er inkludert. Eneste minus var at ventilasjon var broket hvis du vil ha kjølig på rommet.

Fin beliggenhed, men lidt afsides attraktioner med gå afstand cirka 20 min til de nærmeste seværdigheder. Få restauranter i nærheden. Lobby og værelse lugter lidt af røg, der bliver røget på kontoret..? Ellers flinke og hjælpsomme. Værelset er lidt mindre end man lige tror, men der er AC!

Отель находится в хорошем тихом районе недалеко от испанской лестницы. Приветливый персонал, хороший вкусный завтрак. Немного слышно соседей, но это зависит уже от их отношении к окружающим. Отелем остались довольны!!!

Buon hotel in ottima posizione sia per turismo che per viaggi di lavoro. Il personale è professionale e gentile. Con una cura più attenta potrebbe diventare un ottimo hotel. Ad esempio potrebbero lavare più spesso la caraffa del latte freddo invece di limitarsi solo a rabboccarla.

A estadia foi muito boa. A localização do hotel é excelente para quem quer ficar longe da multidao que anda em Roma e mesmo assim fica perto , meia hora de caminhada ou pode ser usado o metrô barbieri e se chega na fonte na de trevi ou piazza de spagna. A recepção nos atendeu prontamente , muito eficiente e solicita e, apesar do quarto ser bem pequeno estava muito bem arrumado e limpo e o banheiro muito bom.
A única experiência horrível deste hotel , que denigre tudo o que ele tem de bom é o café da manhã. É péssimo! Melhor não ter, e não teria nada para falar de ruim deste hotel. Além da péssima qualidade do café, as moças trabalham com má vontade , atendem muito mal. É uma pena, tomei o café somente no primeiro dia e no segundo nem fui tomar. Não vale a pena. O hotel precisa trocar as funcionárias do café e mesmo fazendo um café simples, que ele seja bom e proporcione um bom atendimento.
