There were no amenities. Listing includes laundry, but was not available. Listing also showed rooms that looked newer and drastically different from the rooms we stayed in, which were old. Plumbing was terrible and kept making loud noises every hour, which continually woke up the baby. There were bugs on the bed upon arrival. Lastly, check in was complicated. There were no instructions and when asked, their response was “…” which was extremely unhelpful.

Bed bugs, false advertisement of room(dirty poorly maintained, hygiene issues, noisy construction work outside windows) locks on doors hard to get out of rooms. Checked-in realized mistake and tried to get out of room and contact owner but owner had left building and when answered text he would not take responsibility for false advertisement of his property, instead argumentative and only stated no refunds. Listed as B&B, advise anyone thinking about this property, high risk of hygiene issues and bad business practices just con artist-fraud.

1. The room we booked was not the room we were put in.
2. Luggage storage is offered, only after 10am AND only if someone is there AND you have to carry your luggage up 2 flights to the office.
3. There is no cooling or heating, just a ceiling fan.
4. I never saw the dining area that was shown in the property pictures.

I would not recommend this place to anyone I know.

Don't plan to take showers in this propert if you are fatter than razerblade thin because you wouldn't be able to get into the shower.
Don't turn on the ceiling fan because it is corroded and may fall on you during sleep.
There is no attended... in fact, there is no office. if you can't get in... you're locked out and on your own.
Be prepared to communicate via likes to banks and whatsapp and such... they don't like people to see or meet them.

Cheap, loud, get a receipt for tourist tax!

We stayed in the Gialel B&B in mid-September 2025 for 4 nights. The room was clean, and relatively inexpensive for a city-centre location, and there was a small fridge in the room, but that's about where the good points ended.

The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything happening in the next room. Romance is out the window when you can hear the person in the next room using the bathroom in intimate detail. Our room door was close to the reception desk and main door, so every time someone opened the main door or their room door you heard and felt the slam. The front desk is unmanned from roughly 8pm (they say 10pm, but I never saw anyone that late). If you have a problem after that, you're on your own. We had other guests ringing the entrance phone persistently for twenty minutes, which could be heard very loudly when we wanted to sleep.

The room and main door locks use tiny rotating keypad locks. The keys are like those of a calculator watch, so good luck hitting the button accurately every time. There are no swipe cards or physical keys, only codes. I recommend taking a photo of the code slip they give you, and adding it to your favourites, since you'll want to refer to it.

We paid the city tourist tax at the front desk when we first arrived. We paid in cash and I saw one of the ladies behind the desk place the cash in her purse. This is a small operation, so maybe this is normal, but I asked for a receipt. I strongly recommend you get a receipt too, and keep it safe

It’s a pity that the property is not kept to a standard in such a nice area. Lift was not working, nor was the AC. The mattress gave me back pain just after one night. Staff was nice, kind and offered to carry our luggage to 4th floor! The room was clean but the amenities were too backdated! I would not consider this property even for a short stay unless the owner invests in its redo.

This is not a bad place to stay especially for the frugal or thrifty traveler; however, I highly recommend avoiding this place in the intense heat. The rooms have no AC, and you will bake alive. Once the outside temperature reached 100°F, I actually abandoned this hotel for another around the block. I would only recommend this place for the cooler late fall, winter.

I’m a 21yr old and visited Rome for the first time, wanting a cheap and affordable place to stay that was in walking distance to the city center. Gialel is exactly that. I went during peak season and they didn’t rip me off, and it was a 15 minute walk to Trevi. No AC, but if you simply use the room as a “rest stop”, it works wonders. Clean sheets, bathroom, and friendly staff. Not much more needed than that if you’re visiting Rome on a budget.

Rooms are minimalist tasteful modern designed. The extra seating was appreciated. The blackout windows, by virtual of an electronic pull-down cover, are great. Nice balcony for all rooms. While limited, breakfast was great. I had the best scrambled eggs that I ever had. Breakfast was simple, but all that was needed.

Me at 71 and wife at 68, had to walk up from the ground floor to the 4th floor, 5 initial steps and 19.steps to ea h floor above. If you arrive before the check in time there is no way to enter the building and no one to ask questions of. If you are dropped off by their transfer you can’t drop your bags off, as they state, because you can’t get in the building. The office is on the second floor, which wasn’t communicated to us. The elevator is not accessible so you carry your bags up two floors. The woman who arrived to check us in was very friendly and helpful but we were already aggravated by that point. Also, they are NOT a bed and breakfast as advertised. We were notified at check in that they are a guest house and don’t have breakfast even though all of their advertising and signage says Bed And Breakfast. Overall not really happy with this listing

The room was located a little off the beaten path, but still close to both metro and bus lines for easy access. We had to leave the window open for cool air, but the neighbors were a little loud. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The hot water cycled through cold to warmish and was hot at one point. Just don't expect a long hot shower. I would stay again. The price and location were good.

I saw another review and it said the property is miss labeled as a B&B. I agree: it’s a B. But that doesn’t take away from the accommodations. There is construction going on across the street and with the windows closed you can’t hear it but for a slight hum. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and well equipped. We booked a double room with a shared bathroom. Staff was there to greet us when we checked in, and were kind and efficient. Room was spacious and had a mini-fridge which was nice. A big overhead fan kept us cool at night, we never got too hot even in the early September heat.

The bed was made for us every day, and room was relatively clean, but there was so much dust in the corners that when I accidently dropped a clothing item on the floor against the wall it got so dirty I couldn't wear it anymore.

Main issue was the bathroom. 2 bathrooms are shared between several rooms. Showers and toilets are not separated, meaning if two people shower at the same time there is no toilet for the rest of the guests to use. One of the bathrooms doesn't have a lock on the door, just a chain. The first night I showered there, someone partially opened the door because there was no actual lock, which was an icky experience. There was also no hand soap in the bathrooms, just empty bottles. I tried to tell staff this but after we checked in, there was never anyone around.

On our last morning, there were LOUD renovations/construction on nearby rooms down the hallway starting just before 8 AM. We were never told this would happen.

No breakfast was offered to us. This is not a B&B. I stay in budget accommodations often, but wouldn't recommend this place if you have other options. For 1 night I think it could be okay if you just need a safe place to sleep. The area felt safe and was convenient.

An OK budget option. Staff was friendly but not there too often. The room itself was fine, not spotlessly but livable. Working fridge and TV. Bathroom was OK, not the best pressure in the shower but not too bad. Cleaning wasn't that often and the walls are really thin so if your neighbour decides to shower and move furniture at 1 pm, you hear it clearly. But, location was good with walking distance to a lot of the sights and close to various bus lines. Several shops around and close to restaurants and other places you might need. In all, an OK budget option as long as you don't have noisy neighbours.

The property was absolutely disgusting. I advised I am allergic to dust and still the bedroom and the bathroom were so dusty and dirty.
I stayed two nights, and the morning after the first night someone came to the bedroom, they did not clean but threw away some of my toiletries for no reason.

Everything about this place is a red flag. When we arrived we were asked for ID, after showing the receptionist my passport I noticed she had taken a photo and sent it to someone over text. She then insisted we pay an additional €20 to \"cover the staff being onsitie\". Not once did we see a member of staff nor did they reply to any of our messages.

When we were shown to our room there was a single double bed despite my booking clearly saying that the room was to have two single beds. When I raised this issue and showed the receptionist she said it was a \"request\" and we shouldn't have expected to have two beds. She then called someone I presume is the owner to rant about the fact I was unhappy forgetting the friend I was with could speak fluent Italian and could understand everything she said profanities and all.

The room it's self was run down, the lock on the door was flimsy at best, curtains couldn't be fully drawn the toilet didn't flush leading us to use the communal one. The overall feeling was that the room was unsafe leading us to take most of our positions out with us each day.

I understand that this is a cheep booking and did not expect anything great. However, everything about this room felt unsafe and I would in no way recommend it to anyone.

There are so many things that were wrong. They charged an additional 25 euro fee for checking in after 9pm, not mentioned in the booking. It was dirty, one bed was a cot, the door to the room didn't lock, door handle was falling off. They stated once we arrived that they don't take credit card for the additional fee, being their credit card machine wasn't working. We had to wait 30 min for someone to show up to open the door, no AC, the bathroom in the hall was dirty, no towels or soap to wash hands and toilet didn't flush. Awful experience all together. Do not book here unless you have absolutely no other option as us.

We had two rooms. The property was clean but the bathroom/shower area in one of the rooms was very small. The hot water went off one day, which was very annoying. The fan provided was not that effective in 40 degree heat and very noisy on the highest setting.

Having a fridge was a nice bonus.

The property seemed to be further away from major sightseeing areas than appeared on the hotel details, but was relatively handy for Termini station.

Check in/out was straightforward and there were some good takeaways nearby, as well as a 24 hour supermarket.

Mold in the shower. The shower itself seems to just be a closet converted into a shower. Incredibly small. You have to get undressed in the shower itself, as there is no room once the door is closed. Air conditioning unit is in the room, but not functioning. A nice ceiling fan helped a bit, though. The apartments don't have numbers on them. We actually ended up INSIDE another apartment during our self-check-in because the information provided was the wrong floor.

Friendly staff that gave us a map and pointed out places of interest on the map, which was very helpful for us to get exploring quickly. Room was large, had three single beds and a small fridge. We only needed two beds, so the third held our luggage, which was great to not have it on the floor. Ceiling fan in the room was great for nighttime. Daily housekeeping. Two shared bathrooms were plenty for the five rooms. We never had to wait to use the restrooms, which were kept clean and well supplied. One of the restrooms had a small shower, but the other shower was large. We saw other guests, but never heard them. Staff arranged for driver to pick us up at 4am for a ride to the airport. Driver was ready and waiting when we were ready at 5 minutes to 4am. Wifi was a little spotty as we were in the farthest room from the office and our beds were on the far side of the large room, but it was fine by the room door. Getting up to the B&B took a few minutes. Best to call the phone number to let them know you are there so they can buzz the door open as we pushed the button to ring them and didn't get a response. Once they opened the door, there is a lift to the second floor where staff greeted us, checked us in, and gave us the keys to get into the door at the street, into the B&B, and into the room. Would definately consider staying there again.

The hotel was good, in a relatively quiet residential location, and not too far from main attractions in Rome.

The room cannot be locked without a key, so 2 keys should be provided for 2 guests so that independent movement is possible. The smaller bed in our room had too much sag and was uncomfortable. A microwave, at least in the common area, would be nice.

Clean rooms and great WiFi. The car service was waiting outside the luggage carousels with a sign with my name, so pick up was easy. I checked in at 2pm and the front desk was not open, and we stood outside trying to ring the bell not knowing that. Luckily, someone came out the front door so we went upstairs and knocked, and the maid was there and got us checked in. The location was great for us and very safe even at night-we wanted to be in the middle of the Trevi area and the Colosseum because we like to walk and site see.

Though you can have Breakfast for extra 2.50 Euro, there is no breakfast served at the premises, instead you're given a voucher which you take to a local cafe for a basic Italian breakfast. Often there is no staff at the premises and you're left on your own at the apartment and given the keys to the apartment. The Bus is not regular and often we had to walk to go to main Metro stations where we took the Metro to visit the main attractions. The streets are full of cars, as though you're in Central London and only give you pass if there is a zebra crossing, which are many.

Room was big enough, comfortable and clean but very sparse. Not even a kettle for making your own tea or coffee, though there was a fridge.
Shower was very weak and there was no hot water on one day, room wasn't serviced at all over the 4 nights we stayed.
Staff were very helpful, though not all spoke English.

Basic b&b in a great location

Easy to access buses and metros. We walked a lot to save money. Trevi fountain and Spanish steps close enough to Walk to. The other attractions you would need to get a bus or train. B&B very basic, comfortable and staff helpful. Would stay there again. Even the external private bathroom was ok. Which I was alittle concerned about before the trip. Didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. There are however 2 cafes very close by. We found the one right on the corner a better price. Got totally ripped off by the other one on the first day.

Friendly, central and in a very good area of Rome.

The staff at Gialel were so immediately warm and friendly. Very easy to talk to. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are shared but they are very very clean-to the standard a private bathroom would be. The location is superb-away from the 'dirtier' noisier locations but still very central to access all the usual locations and an easy 10min walk to Termini. There is a very good cafe directly beside the hotel serving fresh pastries, coffee, refreshments at good prices. The area beside a luxurious tree lined street close to 5* hotels really makes you feel like you are in luxury, yet with public transport very close. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable on where to go and how to get there. I will definitely return to Gialel and be happy to see their friendly smiles!

It was okay. The first night we had to cram into a tiny elevator with three pieces of large luggage. Not good. The room was okay, but the bathroom had mold in it. With no screens on the windows numerous bugs got in and I was covered in bug bites the next day. When we returned that night I asked if we could leave our luggage for a few hours the next morning and was told that we could. The next morning we were treated to a full on, top-of-the-lungs argument over whether or not our luggage could stay! Not directed towards us, but between the family members running the B&B. I nearly had a panic attack then. I do not recommend staying here.

They were very kind opening for us very late, at midnight because we had a problem and got very delayed without a way to communicate to them. Looks like a family business, the man was very friendly, gave us cold water and checked us in.

The lady with short hair and beautiful eyes was also helpful and friendly, she was receptionist/housekeper, I even saw her outside and she greeted me.

Only negatives are that there is no common areas nor kitchen and exit door slams hard.

My best wishes for their business and they will be welcome if they visit London to stay in the hostel that I work for, Clink 78.

Thank you for the kindness again, if I visit Rome again I would stay there and ask that girl to hang out with me.

NOT LIKE PHOTOS, BAD SERVICE - HORRIBLE STAY

Photos on Expedia do not look like the same hotel..It is more like a hostel. NO BREAKFAST included (they tried to sell us non-discounted vouchers for a cafe). If arriving after 9pm, you can not get in to the building which was a problem so I contacted them and they were unwilling to wait up and let me in. We specifically booked and paid for a room with two separate beds but were given a very uncomfortable cot instead of a bed (without a headboard.) The staff do not speak English. Gave us the incorrect bus information. We were unable to communicate our concerns so they would phone a young family member and put her on the line. We explained we paid for two beds and she replied that we only get what we pay for \"IF IT is possible.\" When she came in three days later, we showed her the cot. She did not seem to care. After insisting, she swapped out the base for one that was in our closet which was only slightly better (not a proper bed) and she was incredibly arguementative. She says it says on there NON-expedia website that nothing is guaranteed and is only done \"when possible\". She collected a \"hotel tax\" from each of us individually (without receipt) and I watched her put my portion not into the till but into her personal purse. We also witnessed her looking throughout the keyhole into another guests room. There is only one bathroom that is private in the whole place. The owner does not take responsibility for misrepresentation on Expedia.

Wonderful, clean, central and affordable

Awesome place. Very clean with helpful and friendly staff, our flight was delayed well past check in time and they waited for us and got us settled in and pointed us towards late night eats.

The hotel is close to the park where there is bike rentals and arch digital arcs and statues. The park backs onto the Zoo. The hotel is walkable to piazza del polpo and the archeological sites,we never had to use transit. The neighbourhood was safe and comfortable to go out in, even late at night.

Our stay was during the end of June,it was hot. I had concerns about our room only having a ceiling fan, but the fan kept the room very cool. Excellent place all around and affordable. Wifi worked great and free breakfast was around the corner. We will be staying here again when we come back.

Not what I was expecting

The staff is a little rude beside the mother she is the sweetest, it's called a bed and breakfast but you have to pay a lot more to get a lamebreakfast, save your money and buy it yourself. The water in the shared bathroom never got even close to warm and it's quite loud around the place. The three beds was not three beds it's one giant bed and one little bed, the wifi is spotty and kicks you off a lot. It was good if you don't plan on being there much

Room facilities need improved, no tea or coffee, kettle etc. B&B lift wasn't great. The staff were lovely and rooms were spotlessly clean. Shower handle broke a few times though. Can't say I would stay again but great for budget stay and buses to sites near by.

We had a great time at Gialel B&B. People were very friendly and helpful, the conditions were very good and the most important part, the location is close to everything we wanted to visit (15-30 minute by foot to Fontana di Trevi, Colloseum, Pantheon and only 5 minutes to the beautiful public garden Villa Borghese.)

It is a family owned and operated business, and they made me feel as though I was part of their family. They provide excellent customer service. The rooms are extremely clean and they go out of their way to assist you in your travels. They are a wonderful family and it was a great place to stay.

This is a mid-range hotel. The ratings are for that category. The rooms were clean but we had few towels and the sheets weren't changed during our 4 day stay. Common in Europe and our ratings are for that culture and this range. Wi-fi very sporadic and weak. Owners are quite nice. Street is noisy but the windows work well in shutting noise out. We stayed in October and weren't hot so we opened and closed them. Our room had a refrigerator which was very handy. Bit of a hike to Metro but quite near the bus stop. The breakfast around the corner (pastry + coffee) was always good.

A Good Value Close to the train station in Rome

A good value and location if you don't mind a few quirky things, such as plumbing that is antiquated and noisy, and extremely low lighting. The breakfast consisted of vouchers at 2 different nearby cafe's for coffee and a croissant but that suited us fine. The manager was helpful and gave us good information and even could sell us tickets for the local sight-seeing \"hop-on, hop-off\" buses. The view of the courtyard was less than appealing and to get cool air meant opening the window and letting in mosquitos, but that seems to be an issue at most places we stayed in Italy.

Great value hotel

Stayed 5 nights in October on the 4th floor, double room with private bath. The hotel felt safe and was clean and comfortable. The elevator worked well, and there were no problems with noise in our room. The hot water was a little slow at times, and the free WiFi was a little spotty, but these were not major issues for us. The receptionist was very helpful upon check-in. There is a daily voucher for breakfast, which consists of a coffee and croissant at one of the two cafes around the corner. Approximately 10-15 minute walk from Termini station and 5-10 minute walk to the nearest metro, Barberini. This was a great value hotel for us in a decent location for our purposes.

All you need for Rome sightseeing

Reasonably good location for visiting the main sites - we were able to walk everywhere although we did book ahead for some (Vatican Museums, Borghesi Gallery). Also a good number of reasonably priced and adequate restaurants within a few minutes walking distance.
The hotel is on a main road but the windows provide very effective sound proofing.
The only minor drawback is that Gailal is not a B&B, you have to order breakfast beforehand but there are 2 coffee bars within 50 metres with coffee and croissant for 2 Euros.

No AC, No power, Bug bites!!

Our stay at Gialel was terrible. To start, none of the rooms have air conditioning but rather loud, rickety ceiling fans. In the scorching heat of July/ August this makes for an extremely stuffy and hot sleeping environment. In an attempt to cool off the room and let in some fresh air, we opened the window shutters... Worst idea ever. The next morning we awoke covered in numerous dime size mosquito bites!! The hotel staff never filled us in on the proper use of the double layered window shades that would have let \"fresh air\" in during the day and kept the Mosquitos out. To top off the dreadful experience, on our last night there (at approx. midnight) a loud popping noise jolted us awake. As the beloved fan came to a dead stop we realized that a fuse had blown. Due to no surge protector, my phone charger began to smoke from the wall and my entire charging cube and cord was crispy burnt. Because the front desk closes around 8pm.. We were unable to contact anyone and instead had to spend the night in the sauna like room. We got absolutely no sleep. When we confronted the staff in the morning about the situation, the language barrier made it impossible to communicate our concerns and therefore we were not provided a refund. I'm saddened to have such a terrible experience at this family run bed and breakfast. I will never stay here again.

This was a great place to stay. We arranged beforehand to meet the owner at our arrival time and she was right there at the agreed time. She speaks great English, is very friendly and helpful with tips for restaurants, sightseeing, and transportation. We got used to seeing her smiling face as we came and went, and it was nice to have that more personal connection than you get at an anonymous hotel. The room was great, very clean, and had the most comfortable bed we experienced in all of Italy. The bathroom down the hall was not an inconvenience at all as we never had to wait for it. The neighborhood is one of the nicer areas we saw in Rome, but it was quite a walk to some sights. They were willing to store our bags on the final day and made sure to have someone meet us at the agreed time so we could make it to the train station on time.

Live like a Local

This is a great place, it was like living like a local in an apartment. Don’t expect 5* accommodation it’s very basic but comfortable and has everything you need. The beds are a little dated but we were so tired still enjoy a good sleep. Excellent communication both before and during out stay. We did not have breakfast included but were supplied a kettle and cups to enjoy a hot drink in our room. Close to everything to walk but within walking distance to the Metro station.

Nice quiet hotel

This B & B was a very nice choice for us. We liked that it wasn't directly in the tourist part of Rome, but it was very easy to get there. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the Spanish steps and Barabarini fountain, where you can catch the metro.It is also close to the Borghese gardens, which is a beautiful pace to stroll through at the end of the day. The hotel felt very safe and had an elevator, which made it very convenient after a day of site seeing. The hosts were very nice and helpful. If you take the train from the airport to termini station it is only a 15 minute walk from there to the B&B.

Everything you need!

I visited Rome with my parents - We had a FANTASTIC time! Gialel B&B is everything you need for an easy and relaxed stay. The room was very spacious, clean and inviting. The breakfast was basic but tasty cereals/toast/juice (again, all you need!) The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful - the young girl on check-in gave us a map on arrival noting all the major places to go and how best to get there, as well as Italian lessons!
The B&B is in a great location, we walked everywhere (Trevi Fountain only 10-15 minutes walk away!) The only very small issues were the shower went hot and cold sometimes and the WiFi was a bit temperamental - but overall I could not recommend Gialel B&B enough for travellers seeking a simple and no-stress stay in Rome :)

Great value for money

The guest house is positioned on several bus routes to got too the main sights quickly. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We were recommended a near by restaurant La Cantolina which was excellent. As other reviewers have stated breakfast was basic but a good start to the day. Essentially it was a great base as we spent most of our time out seeing sights and visiting bars and restaurants.
