Hotel rooms let this holiday inn down the staff are very attentive, the room was clean, the bed is very uncomfortable, the pillows lumpy and the air con didn’t seem to be working, very disappointed as we have stayed holiday inns all over the country, this has been the worst

Staff were very helpful, particularly front of house on 7th Feb, who sorted out the missing lampshade ( a bare bulb one side of the bed is not a great first impression) and the heating as the room was freezing on arrival.

He also ordered a taxi ( Alpha) 2 hours before our booking at The Anvil Theatre. Taxi didn’t arrive, he chased and they said 5/6 mins, still didn’t arrive, he called again and the taxi clearly hadn’t left, luckily we hadn’t drunk anything so we rushed to our car and drove ourselves, and ran from the car park, made it with 10 mins to spare.

Bed v comfortable, food good. GB News playing at breakfast not ideal, a bit far right and racist for many peoples taste, perhaps go more neutral with BBC?

For the second time in 2 weeks and in different rooms I’ve stayed and had a problem with the heating. This time the bathroom was so cold I felt unable to have a shower. I reported the issue to the reception and the guy said there was nothing he could do as I’d pre- paid. I told him I was unable to accept that and he then said he would get the reservations manager to call me. Guess what? No call as yet. Absolutely appalling. The hotel is very tired and out dated too.

Not fair to provide rooms with broken facilities.

Choose a hotel with aircon. Our room wasn't working and had a plug-in fan and a heater (so clearly a known issue). Window barley opened so on one of the hottest days it was like a furnace. Got no sleep. Kept awake by heat, fan noise, and noise and light from outside given we could not close the wooden blinds. Had to phone reception at 3am (!!) to ask them to request the car outside playing music and shining lights into our room to leave. 2nd night we got moved to a different room. Totally different experience to actually get what we paid for and be able to sleep. Even though hotel is very tired and needs updating, it can be forgiven if you are actually comfortable and able to sleep.

Great Hotel, friendly, clean and welcoming

good, clean hotel, our room was beautiful and very large for a family of 4. we had a double and 2 sofa beds. Unfortunately one of the beds was very bumpy and uncomfy so my son chose to put mattress on the floor where he discovered the mattress to be really thin and he did not get the best nights sleep (this was not reported to reception as it was late at night, I'm sure they would have helped if they were informed) The staff at this hotel were incredibly helpful, friendly, kind and professional. The food was delicious and fairly priced. location for us was perfect as we booked the hotel for a half way point on our journey. It was a pleasure to stay here and we would definitely stay again and recommend it.

It great

Air conditioning unit leaking water in first room so was relocated. The only room they had left had an air conditioning fault so room only had a fan. The room temperature was in excess of 30 degrees so had a bad nights sleep. Staff were very apologetic.

the reception area excellent, and that is where it stops, and up grade nedded in hall ways carpets worn out, as for the rooms carpets stained, decorating does not look its been done for a very long time, miss match on celling, ie colours, tv very old, plug missing in the bathroom sink, over bath shower, the breakfast was ok, but had too ask staff for eggs as buffet trays not filled up, staff not keeping an eye on that, customers waiting for them to be topped up, if you want a cheap over night stay and not bothered about rooms etc go for it, we have stayed at other holiday inns are were all lovely but sadly not this one, will not stay again, thats we have given it 3 stars needs up dating badly.

The carpet in the corridors are so old and are in need of change! It’s a poor look!
My experience at the lounge restaurant was not good but the managers manner was exceptional to overcome the issues.

Theft of food

Not impressed with the room size. Bed too soft and low.
Was surprised and shocked by the fact that a family group of 4 adults were allowed to fill plastic containers with everything from the breakfast buffet to the detriment of other guests. They emptied the bacon, sausage serving trays, also eggs , cereals milk and eventually coffee in thermos flasks. Your other guest had to wait until your staff filled them again. Should this hotel group wish to make profits in the future , your staff should not pander to guests effectively stealing your offered food. Oh yes, they had also filled their plates to overflowing before eating. Disgusting.

Lack of Investment

The hotel is looking very tiered, there are no showers and disabled amenities in the rooms are limited, Wife had broken leg 4 weeks before we were due to stay but the only rooms that would suit us as no lift was ground floor, we have stayed here about four times in the last ten years, but this will be our last as the accommodation & prices don’t reflect any investment.

Terrible overpriced decaying relic

A terrible decaying relic that should probably be pulled down.
Greeted by parking eye if you get fined for pushing the wrong button (tough)
Then proceeding through automatic doors trying to rattle themselves off the hinges.
No investment this century.
Beds are ridiculously uncomfortable,
Just about every surface is heavily stained,
Lights make no sense, hugely overpriced at a push 2 star hotel.
Would avoid at all costs.
2 star property with 4 star price tag, much better available for alot less nearby.

The hotel was in a great place for us as we were visiting friends. The room was clean and everything was good for my disabled husband.
We had breakfast both morning and the food was good even offering to cook fried or poached eggs fresh. Sumira was the waitress and she was very attentive and friendly. Kate was in reception when we checked out and she also was very friendly and helpful. All in all a good experience will be returning.

This is now our third visit to this hotel and it is our go-to hotel in Basingstoke. You cannot ask for more helpful, kindly and welcoming staff. They always go the extra mile. Professional, pro-active, engaged with our needs. Great location on the outer ring road, conveniently located for snacking outlets (M & S food, Asda) offering great picnic food. Rooms are clean, well-lit and well designed. Good sound insulation between rooms, excellent sound insulation from the outside, so zero traffic noise. Offsite fitness facilities, pleasant restaurant and upstairs lounge. Great breakfasts. I enjoyed an excellent grilled salmon and salad, my husband had a great steak. Thank you everyone for being so kind and helpful again.

Room did not have heating, one small portable heater available that did not heat up the room. Bathroom was freezing even with the towel heater on. Hot water took about 5 minutes to start. Not a great experience. Hotel was clean and tidy though and staff were friendly.

Do Not Stay here in the winter!

We arrived on a very cold day, quite cold from travelling. The hotel was not that warm in the reception or bar area. No heating was on in our room, and it took a long time to start to warm up. it was a guaranteed booking, and even if we had not turned up we would have paid. Since it was one of the coldest days ( so far) of the winter, someone could have put the heating on.
The bathroom was a disaster - only a small towel rail to heat it, and 3 outside walls plus an outside vented extractor. Totally impossible to bath, or shower as very cold. We made a complaint and are awaiting a result. no doubt for most nights it would have been acceptable, but with ice everywhere, a bit more thought would have made things so much better.

Food in the evening pretty dire - tinned soup and a roll with no butter - really for £6?

I will not stay in Holiday Inns again, although my past experiences have all been good ,

The good, bad and ugly

Good location. Free parking. Very friendly staff.

Lack of heating in the room. Radiators wouldnt turn on and air system was useless. The room was cold.

Room a little tired

Bed was uncomfortable. Mattress needs changing as the edges were lumpy and you rolled back into the middle of the bed.

Duvet & sheets were soft and warm.

Room was dusty in parts. Room not hoovered properly & i found several maltesers around the bed. Obviously from previous occupier.

Tv was a good size.

I've stayed in this hotel a few times and its always been fine. This was a disappointing stay this time. Glad only 1 nightas not sure i could have stayed a 2nd night.

Stayed here many times before but on this occasion, my stay was ruined by firstly an “elephant” like person in the room above mine who stomped around loudly until the early hours of the night, which was then topped off by the staff who decided to use the fire exit next to my room to have a smoke and the loudest chat whilst coming in and out slamming the door each time, reported to reception who could only apologise.

Not one clean table for breakfast

Room was comfortable and well appointed, there was a cheese biscuit on the floor when we got there, this was still there when we left even though cleaners came in on 2nd day, so cleaning not up to scratch. 1st breakfast experience was so bad we cancelled 2nd day. We arrived to see one table of 4 in use and every other table was dirty, we found the least dirty one and cleared it ourselves, no teaspoons, tea plates, bread, we were there 30 mins 2 other people came in and had to clear own tables, awful experience.

Worst night sleep I’ve ever experienced!

On arrival and after booking a double bed, we were informed that only single beds were available, eventually and after complaining we were put in an accessible room with double bed!
Reception staff were not polite and didn’t even tell us where the room was!
Extremely noisy room, fire alarm went off at 1:30am with lots of noise for the following 30 mins, room above constantly walking around and banging. Took ages to find a member of staff, informed them about alarm and noise but seamed nothing was done, noise above restarted at 6am!
In all, one of the worst nights sleep I’ve ever experienced at a hotel, staff didn’t seam to give a damn?
Holiday inns are generally ok but would not stay at this particular hotel again, especially after this experience.

Good hotel.

We chose this area as it’s close to Heathrow and the perfect launching place for our touring holiday in England. This Holiday Inn is clean and comfortable and the staff are very friendly. On arrival we grabbed a snack in the bar before retiring for the night. Breakfast in the morning was a full English breakfast to help us start the day.
Car park is included and there were plenty of spots. Ask for a ground floor room if you don’t want to lug suitcases up the stairs!
Good linen in the room with everything you need at hand. No USB charging in the room but plenty in the common area.

Good stay in a nice, average room

This was the final stay for our trip and it was a nice closure. The staff was friendly and the room was quite comfortable and spacious. The shower was an improvement over some of the other places we stayed as well. There was plenty of free onsite parking and it didn't feel overcrowded. Not the fanciest place, but it was everything we expected from a budget hotel chain and we'd stay again if we were in the area.

Could be so much more

We stayed one night after a family reunion and although generally clean, our bathroom was so cold I could not stand on the floor without putting a towel down. The air was freezing and on bringing this to the attention of the reception staff, being told \"a lot of our guests say that and sorry the radiator in the bathroom doesn't work its just for show\" I don't feel is an expectable response.

The breakfast although plentiful was somewhat tasteless, no seasoning used, hard bacon & stale pastries.

Personally I would not choose to stay again.
