It’s a quiet hotel in a rural area so not exactly ’buzzing’. As it’s an older building with add-ons finding your way to some bedrooms can be a story. It’s all fine, but not exactly a memorable experience.

Slow service lets down hotel
We stayed here to visit the Bombay Sapphire distillery nearby and had arranged many weeks before for a cab from the hotel to the distillery, a ten minute drive away. On checking in we were told the cab was all arranged for the agreed time. However the agreed time came and went and no cab arrived. Sought advice from reception to find the cab had not been booked at all. So asked them to book one there and then - already too late now - and waited for one to come from Basingstoke (as that is what happens). Got to the distillery only 10 mins late in the end but what a shambles. Nearly missed the tour and cocktail class. That same evening at dinner we ordered two more glasses of wine just before the mains arrived to the table. Those two glasses never arrived and we had finished our food. The next morning the breakfast service was also very slow. We had to go and find a waitress to place our order. The hotel is good but is let down by service staff that are not quite to the standard required.

The GlassHouse restaurant where we had an a la carte dinner for hubbys birthday dinner was prettt special as we were given our preferred table by the window and were looked after by the staff.
Breakfast the following morning was just as great.

We went for an early morning walk around the estate, the woodland area is pretty magical at dawn

Oakley Hall is absolutely stunning. The building in itself commands your attention and forms part of the beautiful landscape it's situated in. The room and amenities were fantastic, everything was spotless. All the staff, the reception and restaurant staff in particular, could not have done more for us to make us feel welcome and accommodated. We were so sad to leave and will most definitely be back. The garden cottage is brilliant for family or friends get away, not to disturb other guests. Everything is thought of, the childrens stuff is added bonus and so cute. Breakfast was delicious, we also had afternoon tea, very good and would recommend. The childrens version bear cut out sandwiches and sweet treats was excellent. Had dinner is both the bar and restaurant amazing again. Would definitely visit and stay again. Thank you

Upon arrival, check-in was very quick, I had to find my own way to my room...The room was very spacious and very tastefully decorated...plenty of chairs to sit on but not very comfortable, they could do with an arm chair in the room..you got a proper carton of fresh milk instead of those little fiddly little things that hold hardly any milk..the room was nice and warm, maybe a bit too warm at night....overall it was a very nice relaxing stay....

This hotel has outstanding rooms which are large, well appointed and flawlessly clean. We ate dinner and breakfast at the glasshouse restaurant. The food was OK but not outstanding - indeed not up to the standard of a few years ago pre-Covid. The big disappointment was the service. There seemed to be plenty of young staff but they seemed to be more interested in chatting to each other than serving even though the restaurant was almost empty.

Hotel is on a beautiful estate. Rooms good size. Only negative was that it lacked atmosphere, particularly as it was just before Christmas - primarily because there were very few guests in the hotel which we found strange.

This property was more geared to Corporate functions not individual leisure type travel. We were expecting more of a manor type property; however, it truly was geared much more to corporate meetings and/or perhaps wedding type functions. There was a big meeting with a Christmas party to follow and the noise was horrible until late night in our room. The property is absolutely beautiful, but you need to understand that there is potential of meetings taking up the majority of the hotel.

The bed was very uncomfortable being advertised as a king size it was two singles attached together giving it a lovely seam down the middle of the bed. Aswell as the springs we had to ask for another duvet

This is a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds that are great to explore. Although expensive, the restaurant food is gorgeous and well worth a visit for a special occasion. We had two less than ideal experiences with front desk staff, one where a simple request for a plastic bag was roundly denied (we were assisted by bar staff) and the other where the front desk staff person was not able to properly prepare our invoices upon checkout. We loved Oakley Hall. Just the walk around the grounds was so nice that we did it every morning and evening. If you have a car, the hotel was perfect for the day trips that we wanted to take being a wonderful place to come back to. We did the skeet shooting with Gavin and had a terrific experience.

My partner and our 2 girls stayed 2 nights here to visit Legoland and Stonehenge. We thoroughly enjoyed it the room was lovely and the grounds stunning. Cookies were left in the room for the girls which was a nice touch and the restaurant food was top quality.

The AC was very noisy, I changed rooms after the first night, but it was not much better, on the third night I turned it off. Disappointing that most of the rooms and the bar / restaurant are not in the actual original country house. Difficult to drag a suitcase across the graveled courtyard to the car park. Each way in local cab (they are on to a winner there as you can’t drink and drive obvs) is very steep for such short journey!

Stayed at Oakley Hall, with friends, prior to Carfest South, as it is in a very handy location. Have stayed here before and we were in the stable block - which was also good. This time we were in the main house which was a bit more luxurious and our room (and bathroom) had a gorgeous view over the grounds and fountain. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal, with some unusual items on the menu - worthy of a top restaurant. Not a cheap stay, if that’s what you’re looking for, but a touch of luxury before a wet and windy festival weekend.

This place was beautiful- old charm with modern comfortable bedrooms. Nice and quiet and relaxed. Lovely breakfast. Great with kids, left milk and cookies, colouring books/games, they had DVDs and even a special bath set for them! We used it as a base for Legoland (40 mins) and Paulton Park (40 mins). There is not a lot in the immediate vicinity so you would need a car but was a quick 10 min drive to Basingstoke. We actually extended our stay, would highly recommend.

Amazing! Highly recommend to anyone visiting England. My husband and i celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Elegant, clean, and very comfortable. Lovely walking trail as well. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. And there are some Jane Austen connections for those Jane Austen lovers.

This is a fantastic hotel in a truly beautiful setting, also ideally situated for the Bombay Sapphire distillery, which is not to be missed. From the first moment we stepped through the door, the whole staff team was helpful and friendly and we could not fault the service. The room was spacious and plush, with air conditioning which provided a welcome respite from the summer heat. The food was so tasty and we really enjoyed the Sunday lunch as well as breakfast the following day. I would recommend this hotel without reservation and I am looking forward to going again.

I have to say his is a really nice hotel, but we had to request to move rooms at 11pm due to a droning noise from what we assume was the air conditioning units. It wasn’t what we expected from a hotel of this level.
We were in room 45 on the top floor, the receptionist on the night shift was very accommodating and apologised for the noise and inconvenience.
l was however disappointed with the receptionist during check out as she just seemed to dismiss it as a minor inconvenience saying she has had complaints before about noise (but not from that room???)
They have clearly invested heavily into the recent refurbishment but may have overlooked the importance of noise especially in such an idyllic location.

We had a lunch for 20 and a room overnight. The restaurant staff were an absolute delight attentive yet not intrusive, courteous and professional. Food was excellent, perhaps could have been hotter due to having come through to a function room from a distant kitchen, although also at breakfast. Hotel Facilities are limited but it a calm and gentle setting which made a relaxing stay.

Had a lovely one night stay here. The room was beautiful and very spacious. We were travelling with our 7 mth old son and they had a great travel cot and even provided baby toiletries and a rubber duck which was a lovely touch. We ate dinner in the restaurant which we enjoyed although it was expensive but perfect for a special treat. I would definately recommend this hotel.
