I love this historic hotel. Classic Balinese 1980s craftsmanship and hand-carved detail. A garden full of gods, goddesses and fantastic greenery. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore - instead they tear them down and put up boxes. Sample this darling before ‘the market’ levels it.

I love this hotel so much. I have stayed here many times and the service is impeccable. The hotel is traditional Balinese style and the staff are so welcoming, friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and accommodate requests. The food is also INCREDIBLE. The traditional Balinese is beyond excellent. I can't recommend this place highly enough. The hotel changed management recently, and I understand it will be going through a 'refreshment'. I hope it doesn't lose what is unique to Puri Cendana which is the traditional old style Balinese architecture and decor, plus the traditional feel of the hotel. Puri Cendana is unique and special.

Perfect place to stay. You walk inside the gates and you’re suddenly out of the busy streets and in a quiet paradise. The villas are so homely - great AC and comfy bed. Bathroom was super clean and bright. The pool was the highlight for us - listening to the waterfalls you can’t believe you’re only one street off the busyness of seminyak. Breakfast was lovely and we ate dinner at the restaurant every night too! So tasty and cheap too. Staff were so friendly and approachable too. On site massage was great. We obviously loved it and ended up staying an extra 2 nights. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back if we were in the area again!

Fantastic location just a block away from the beach and on a road lined with restaurants and shops. The hotel is very quiet and the rooms are enormous, 3 or 4 times larger than a standard hotel. The breakfast is pretty basic but does the job in filling you up. The gardens are beautiful and provides the hotel with a lot of privacy and quiet from the busy street noise of Seminyak. Would definitely visit again.

I loved our stay at Puri Cendana. The staff are lovely; the massage place on the premises is the best- the food at the Restraunt is delicious and well priced. The breakfast is lovely and there is a great variety to choose from. The location is great; close to shops and a two minute walk to the beach. Great value for money.

We absolutely loved our stay at this very traditional Balineses property. Close location to the beach & bean bag bars one way. The other way is a huge range of shops, spas , restaurants, bars and entertainment for all tastes. The pool area is quaint and beautiful with a waterfall. The gardens are gradually being bought back to their former glory. Pay a bit extra for a Superior Star Room. Just gorgeous, with a sunken atrium bathroom and your own little privacy verandah. Really big room with excellent air conditioning, comfortable beds and great pillows.
The breakfast selection is fantastic!!!

Another hidden gem in Seminyak. Traditional style accommodation with beautiful lush tranquil gardens. On site restaurant with delicious breakfast options which we had each morning. From scrambled eggs to smoothie bowls and freshly squeezed juice. The staff are amazing and very happy to help. 100 from the beach on a busy road but no noise noticed while in the resort. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning and beautiful unique bathroom. Close to everything. Scooter hire at the property. We will return to Puri Cendana.

This upstairs, 2-story Balinese style cottage was huge and full of slightly dated charm. The surrounding gardens made for a nice, surprisingly quiet environment considering it’s right off the road leading to the surfing beach, literally a 2-minute walk. Nice little friendly restaurant with tasty, affordable meals, and the included breakfast offered a deliciously simple smoothie bowl, my choice every morning. Awesome staff overall, so friendly and helpful, always remembering you by name. The large bathtub was another plus, though the hot water unfortunately ran out before a proper filling, however in humid weather still quite refreshing. Morning prayers and incense performed before each deity statue in the gardens made for a lovely awakening. Nice budget-friendly place.

This felt wonderfully Balinese. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We loved the bathroom with the big windows. The pool was fine, close to the beach. It was in the middle of a lot of things but it felt peaceful in the hotel grounds. We would happily stay here again.

At some point in the past I guess I stopped noticing Puri Cendana as I passed by - it’s been there forever, hiding in plain sight.

I sometimes stay at the budget chains nearby when I want to stay in Seminyak - for cleanliness and convenience more than anything else. This time, curiosity got the better of me when I unexpectedly found myself at a loose end for a week. I spent it at Puri Cendana and I’m really glad I did.

For the same price, you get a room (with a balcony or terrace) four times the size in a traditional building. Housekeeping did a great job keeping it clean and neat during my stay. The aircon was perfect, the TV had international news channels and there was a fridge/kettle/hot drinks/water. Also a mosquito net if you wanted it.

You also get breakfast, beautiful gardens and a neat swimming pool with loungers (some of which are a sun trap after 11am).

The staff were lovely. So friendly and helpful. It felt like a family business. Restaurant food was good, and the on-site masseur was amazing. As good as anyone.

Location-wise, it couldn’t be in a better position. Two minutes to the beach, two minutes to a busy street but in a quiet spot in between the two.

If you are happy to stay in an older property (the room was good enough but the bathroom would benefit from a makeover), you couldn’t choose better. In short, it’s a hidden gem.

We wanted a traditional stay in Bali and we definitely got it. The rooms are on the older side but we couldn’t fault the comfort and size. The staff were wonderful. And the surrounding grounds are just beautiful. The pool, spa treatments & restaurant were great. Would happily stay there again.

I am afraid that the condition of pool is not good as it has used to be before Covid-19 in 2018 and 2019. Probablly, you need painting of the base of pool.

All the staff are passionate about their hospitality and resort.They are amazing, helpful, friendly and always smiling. The food is great. The gardens are unique and traditional Balinese style thruout the resort. Extremely large rooms,.We stayed in the duplex suite and it’s very comfortable,large lounge space downstairs, massive bedroom room upstairs .Tge bathroom is huge as well. Large balcony facing a beautiful well kept traditional Balinese garden .

Fabulous beautiful rooms, with the biggest stone bath. This was a beautiful experience. Lovely saltwater pool, surprisingly quiet and serene. Amazing garden perfect for reflection. Just a bit disappointed at the mattress quality. However the staff were great in provided 7 pillows for my friend who had a bad back.

Cheap place in good location but needs updating

Beautiful garden but the place is ageing and needs refurbishment. Beds are good but we were in one of the upstairs one bedroom units which are two level. The stairs between bedroom and living room are steep and small treads. Navigating these to go down to the bathroom at night was scary. Anyone with the slightest mobility issues should not try these stairs. The cushions on the bamboo furniture were almost useless they were so old and had no padding left in the foam. Most uncomfortable sit on.
The room service staff did not refill our coffee and cream sachets for the next morning. The pool is nice but desperately in need of maintenance. You can actually rub the concrete sides and have grit come away.
The worst thing though was breakfast. The restaurant which is okay has a decent menu but only one part is the included breakfast. So if you are ok with over cooked eggs a choice of bacon or sausage and white tasteless toast you will be happy. We weren’t. Also turns out that if you want this in your room you pay full price not just a delivery fee. Location is close to beach and that’s good. Right on corner at the beach is the Gado Gado restaurant which is amazingly good food and not expensive. We had breakfast there the second day for the above reason. Dinner is excellent and you look over the beach and hear the waves.
Ok this place is on the cheaper side of places to stay but if you do stay here be aware.

This hotel has an excellent location, nice resto, nice Balinese decor and kind and efficient staff. The rooms are huge. They could do better by upgrading their facilities (especially the bathroom) and having more comfortable mattreses. We would stay here again, mainly because of the location.

Budget stay, traffic noise is an issue

When we arrived at the hotel we were quite impressed by the gardens within the grounds and although very close to nearby bars and restaurants, seemed to be quite tranquil. However we were unfortunately given a room right at the end of the building which was right next to the main road. The traffic noise was extremely loud and went on until well into the night and started up again at about 6am! We did ask to be moved but as the hotel was full this wasn’t possible. As we were only staying for two nights it was just about bareable but we did have severe lack of sleep due to the traffic.
We were impressed by the size of the bath in the bathroom however it’s quite dangerous as it is made of stone and so can be very slippery when showering, so be careful!
The breakfast is based on a set menu offering which was quite limited and not the best quality. Anything which deviates from the menu is charged at an additional cost.
The day we left we asked the hotel to help to arrange a taxi to take us to the airport but sadly they had no driver and said that if we called a taxi it would take longer than if we flagged one down ourselves on the street, not exactly going out of their way to help!
If you’re looking for a budget stay then this hotel is fine.

Love this place. Pool with greenery and tree lamps surround. Massage by pool if wanted. Quiet, listen to birdsong from your verandah, but only 2 mins from the beach. Deep baths. 4 poster bed with high thread count sheets. Fattest dogs in Bali loll around the reception desk! A haven in Seminyak.

Over all Puri Cendana is a great place to stay. Extremely quiet and well maintained. Staff were excellent . Position could not be better. The breakfast menu could be improved both in choice and quantity

Tired room with steep stairs to upper bedroom. Bathroom downstairs which is a pain during the night. No safe in the room.
Staff lovely, food in restaurant is good and well priced. Only 8 sun lounges around the pool, not adequate for the amount of guests. Was unable to lie by the pool because of this.

A good choice

Can't fault hotel for price, service and facilities. We stayed here to attend a wedding and it turned out perfect. A block from Beach ( disappointing) and about a 20min walk to Seminyak Square. Restaurant had best food in the Street

The location is perfect for the beach, but still close to restaurants and shops. It’s a older hotel so it has a lot of charm. You must get a pool side massage from Desahy, she is the best!
