The lock on our door was not working correctly. The desk clerk had to let us in-and-out of our room with a master key. We couldn't be moved to another room. The Inn was full. We were there three night so this was inconvenient.
Our toilet plugged up. Housekeeping came a plunged it quickly. We took care of our own housekeeping while we were there. It was nice having a refrigerator and microwave. Sheetz was across the street. Parking was good.

No WIFI for the whole time!!!! I'm not glued to my phone every second of the day but being able to use my phone for videos if I can't watch TV would be nice. I cannot believe this was not a priority in this age of tech. The staff was very nice and breakfast was good, even the bed was pretty comfortable - like a firmer mattress. BUT the convenience of turning on the TV to get some AM news, weather etc. and some noise at night, FIX the WIFI!!!! The hotel was one of the most reasonably priced in Shepherdstown. Having a pharmacy, Food Lion, Italian and Chinese restaurants and a gas station close by was nice.

The room I was assigned would not open - myself and staff tried but door refused to open - Room 3316. I was transferred to Room 307, tv did not work, there was no hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner bottles were empty.

Reason being , as per the staff, they didn't have any. This Quality Inn was a horrible experience.

I'm so happy there is a good motel in Shepherdstown! I stayed at this motel for 5 nights while attending the CATF at Shepherd University. The motel is still in the process of being renovated, so a few standard motel-pieces are missing (I could never find an ice machine, for instance). The staff are super-nice and helpful, and the rooms are extremely clean. The neighborhood is safe. Fast food, a good pizza place and a grocery store are within walking distance, and a 24-hour gas station is just across the road. I would definitely stay here again.

On the positive note, the hotel had been renovated recently, the hotel staff were friendly, and the hotel was quiet and comfortable. Some opportunities for improvement from our recent stay...the bathroom door scraped the toilet bowl in order to open or close; the clock kept flashing different numbers unrelated to time of day; the TV remote was useless, and the breakfast buffet came up way short of expectation. Hopefully management will correct some of these issues, as the location and overall esthetics of this property are very good.

I've stayed at about 25 locations during the past year; most great, some average. I’m not a complainer but this place is literally hazardous. I’ve since learned that the hotel has been shut down for a long time and just reopened, which may explain the good (OLD) reviews. I booked a 2-night stay but left the next day. BULLET POINTS: Place deserted; only people were staff. Language barrier; no biggie but I had to use translation app to check in. Only room “ready” was handicapped. I said no problem. Tired, I went to bed without showering. Got up to pee and slipped on bathroom floor; it was soaked. Put towels down and went back to sleep. Around 5 a.m. floor had dried, but by 7-ish, was soaked again. I saw several areas of water dripping from the ceiling including bath, entry area and the room itself. Air was so humid, my chest and lungs literally hurt, felt congested and heavy. Walking barefoot, even carpet was damp. I put on shoes, stepped on paper towels, saw my footprints come through. I left and checked into another hotel even though I’d prepaid two nights. When leaving, there was nobody to be found anywhere. No staff, no guests. Finally found a fellow in the laundry who didn’t speak English and when I pointed at front desk, he just shrugged. Can you say, Creepy??? I kept calling, “Hello? Hello? Anybody here?” Waited by the front desk at least 10 minutes. Loaded my car and tried again 10-15 minutes later and still nobody. CAVEAT EMPTOR: I’ve had several great bookings w

Booked the king sweet. When i checked in was told they only had a double queen room so i settled for it. Got in the room it was basic. Sat on bed it was hard and uncomfortable. The dining area was very small and could get crowded easily. No problems. Minor issue...plug to tub had no chain or way to stay open, so it had to be put to the side to shower. Had paperwork ready when I checked in less than 20 minutes after I booked the room. Thought the place was deserted when I drove up as there were no cars in the lot. Turns out just very few customers on a Thursday night. Great breakfast spread even though I swear I think I was the only guest.

The hotel is easy to find and conveniently right next to a drug store and grocery store. It seemed to be very pet friendly. Unfortunately, the good news ends there. The hotel was run down, not very clean, and dark. The courtesy bottles (lotion, shampoo, conditioner) in our room were half-used. The wifi didn't work, the instructions in the book were for the Comfort Inn, and no one answered when we tried to call the front desk. We chose the hotel because it advertised free breakfast, but there was no hot breakfast because of Christmas. It wasn't *awful*, but there were just so many missed chances to make a pleasant experience for guests.

I shared the room w/ two queen sized beds. There was a desk, chest of drawers, a separate television stand. It was cramped. The closet door was off its rails. The bathroom sink was separate from the toilet and shower/tub. So it was part of the sleeping area. I didn’t like that as it contributed to the room feeling cramped. The HVAC was a wall unit which had a wet rug under it which made the room smell musty. The breakfast that was included looked unappetizing.

Their web site lists pet fee as 10.00 and was 10.00 in previous stays. They charged us a 20.00 pet fee thier excuse was their web site is out dated. Opened the door to the room and was hit with a damp musty odor. We will go elsewhere for future visits to the area

I went there to visit with a friend, I was not too focused on amenities. While the breakfast was a nice feature, the coffee machine in my room did not work and the refrigerator looked as if it had never been thawed out for cleaning. There was much ice buildup from the freezer. The clerk could have suggested some form of entertainment around the area. I found myself engaging the person and trying to hard to get information about the area.

Came to area to bike ride on the C&O Canal trail. I've stayed here once before and it is a great value. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are clean. Breakfast is sufficient unless you are really hungry.

I was visiting Shepherd University; the hotel was perfectly placed, as it was less than a five minute drive to the Wellness Center where I was visiting. The room was a little run down, but it was clean and quiet. Great for my single night stay, and I would consider staying for more than one night in the future.

Perfectly Clean Hotel with Great Service
Hotel was really, really great. Not too far from Antietam that we were visiting. The service was fantastic. The breakfast was a little better than what I would have expected (wasn't expecting sausage).
My only minor issue was the blinking lights. The phone, the smoke detector, and something else (the hair dryer maybe) were blinking. Nothing that a towel wouldn't fix, but it was there none the less.

weekend trip to sheperdstown
This was a weekend getaway for our family. It was close to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. We liked staying in Shepherstown which is only 10 miles from the National Park, and a few more miles to Charles Town. Nice small town, with lots to do, very nice arts and music scene. Great little restaurants on main street, not to0 expensive. We went white water rafting, hiking on the Appalachian trail as well. It was a great weekend. The Quality Inn was decent, clean, and the front staff couldn't have been nicer.

I am a budget traveler. The hotel is across the street from a grocery store and a Goodwill (in retirement communities like Shepherdstown, Goodwill is a treasure trove), so thus the n'hd rating. The room, though, had bad mattresses, and lots of mold smell. Breakfast buffet had good variety. Best benefit was free day pass to sister hotel's pool/exercise/spa facility at Clarion, availability dependent on occupancy rate. Thanks to Phyllis for that info. Definitely get an upper floor room to avoid mold. Hotel takes pets.

The hotel seems fairly new and is well-maintained. Room was spacious & clean! The front desk guy was very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is located a mile or so from the main drag in Shepherdstown, which is surprisingly full of places to eat, etc. Cool little town. If you're not up for that, the hotel is right across from a supermarket, rite-aid, McDs, DQ. Located just a few miles from Antietam Battlefield/Nat'l. Park. Perfect place to stay if you're in the area.

Hotel is clean, staff is very friendly, and nice breakfast. Our only complaint is very strong smell of cigarette smoke in hallways. Our room was non smoking and it did not smell of smoke. Just be aware hallways have very strong smoke odor.

Air conditioning didn't work in one of them rooms but the front desk person moved us to another room where it did work so all turned out to be good. This was especially remarkable because we didn't check in until 11:45 p.m. on Friday evening and didn't realize it wasn't working until 12:30 p.m. The front desk lady was very attentive (especially given the hour) and got us squared away quickly.

our room was non smoking, but the entire floor smelled strongly of cigarettes, they never cleaned the wall paper, carpets or ceiling tiles on the floor... the locking door to the next room allowed too much noise to pass through. will look for a better place next time.

Good location
For over $100 per night, you're definitely paying for the location here. Close to cute restaurants and shops in town. Still have to drive but maybe a mile away. Beds are not that comfy, neither are pillows, but room is clean. Staff is friendly except the breakfast lady who refills empty coffee containers, other supplies. Yikes! Breakfast was free and quite nice! Just don't attempt to talk to the lady working there, perhaps not a morning person...
