Okay business hotel

This was my fourth time staying at this hotel for my work. And the 2nd time they tried to put me in a smoking room after I explicitly requested NON-SMOKING room at time of reservation two weeks prior. No amount of febreeze spray will remove the stench of tobacco smoke. I have only once slept in such a room and woke up the next morning with lungs full of mucus. I had to demand a new room. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request.
The room was too hot for me and there are no controls to set the temperature. It's either on or off. I like it cold... I had to open the window to cool down the room.
The breakfast buffet is about the best feature of staying at this hotel. Good variety of western and Japanese food. While I might not recommend this hotel to a *friend*, it is a decent business hotel. So, I would recommend it to a business associate.

The hotel is very old and I think due for some major renovation. Imagine using a key to lock your room and there is no remote control for the air con and the tv is like 15 inch.
Fortunately there is a shuttle bus to bring you to the town area and a 7-11 opposite the hotel. Parking is cheap here.

The rooms could be cleaner and a bit renovation in the rooms would be nice.

The hotel is close by the conference centre, and Kobe airport.

Hey, Kobe airport opens 6 am. If you have a flight at 7, don't bother going to the airport earlier than 6am!!! :d

I wish hotel staff have told me that the airport opens the doors at 6pm. I was there at 5am!

Great value for a great stay!

Although I arrived too early before check-in time, the front desk service was very helpful in letting me keep my luggage there while I explored the area to pass the time. By the time I got back to check in, everything was all set and they even placed my luggage in the room ahead of time.

The room was very comfortable and the size was good for the price. The bathrooms were nice with all the necessary amenities.

The shuttle to and from Shin-Kobe station was EXTREMELY convenient and I am very thankful that they provided this service.

This hotel is definitely not for non smokers. The corridors to our Room stank of stale cigarette smoke and the smell of smoke often penetrated into the room. There was even a designated smoking area on the second floor by the elevators. I will say however that the hotel staff were excellent. I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Good value for the price but not more

We stayed there for 6 nights for some conference nearby. The hotel is in a good condition however the impression in the room is like it has not been renovated for 30 years. Room was very small but very clean and maintained every day. Hotel has a SPA but limited to a hot poll and a sauna. Very helpful and friendly service, like for the most of Japan, however rather limited knowledge of English and we have experienced several trivial misunderstandings. Hotel is located on Port Island, which is rather deserted place, lots of hotels and convention centers, and it was very easy and cheap to commute to downtown by public transportation. Taken together, we recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

I have my bicycle so I rode out to the main train station area which took about 30 minutes. The subway station is very close to the hotel ,7\11 which supply with most things I need . there is also a huge grocery store in walking distance. It is a great deal if you can book this at their sale rate! Rooms are larger than average Japan hotel.

In Port City, business-class hotel at good price

This hotel seemed more Western-style than most others in Japan.
Stayed here during recent trip traveling most of Japan.
It's in Port City (which either requires bus-provided by hotel service, or Port City Liner metro line-much quicker than bus)
I took the Port City Liner metro to hotel (about 15-20min ride) and then walked to hotel.
It's in a quieter part of city than downtown (near train station).
Great views of port (although when it was daylight, it was Sunday morning-so not too much activity on that day)
Wish I could have stayed here another night, but the mountains are calling-so I must go.

I found a flash sale deal for this hotel and decided to stay for a night while visiting Kobe. The location of the hotel is not so good since it's on the small island (unless you have business at the convention center). I had to take the train back and forth to Sannomiya station, the busy area with shopping malls and LOTS of good restaurants. Overall, I was quite happy with the hotel accommodation, friendly staff and nice room.

Very good service and installations, clean and comfort room. Nice breakfast. Excellent WiFi signals. Marvelous views from the windows. In summary, it is much better than I expected for the value I paid for 4 nights. Before arriving in the hotel, I was concerned about its location on the Minatojima Island and far from the city. However, my experience shows that it is no problem because from Kansai International Airport, it is easily accessible by high speed ferry (only 1800JPY). And to go to the downtown Kobe, the free shuttle bus from the hotel to Sannomiya and Shin_Kobe Stations is very convenient and takes only 15 minutes.

Quiet location close to Kobe Airport

Stayed here only because I wanted to take the high speed ferry (from Kobe airport) to Kansai airport to next morning. Pleasantly surprised with the large rooms, nice friendly staff.

Because it's close to the airport location is not very central but hotel includes a shuttle bus service to the city centre or shin-Kobe (very convenient!) takes around 10 mins.

Just what I was looking for

I picked Pearl City after thoroughly researching other reviews. I managed to find a breakfast package deal and it was well worth it. I stayed in a single room for 2 nights. I looked at the 'reading room', vending machine area, but did not go in the sauna because you need to pay extra. My room was comfortable, had a view of the harbour. A nice bath, fairly spacious room. There is free wifi, but at times it may be slow. I would recommend this hotel to someone wanting a weekend away in Kobe. The only downside might be that it is far from the city center, but because there is a free shuttle every half hour/every hour, I actually preferred the quiet location.

All-round great hotel

Pearl City was conveniently located for the Conference Centre, the breakfast buffet had a wide choice, the staff were professional, with some of them speaking English. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone, especially thanks to the convenience of the hotel shuttle bus going to Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe every 30 minutes!

The hotel is clean but probably in need of some refurbishing soon. Breakfast had good choice of international and Japanese options.

A little disappointed that use of the pool facilities seemed to be a chargeable service. There is a very useful shuttle service between Hotel and the two main central rail-stations in Kobe.

I was attending a conf at nearby Conference Centre - 5 minutes away - so very convenient.

Overall the price I paid on Expedia was extremely reasonable - compared to Portopia for which I could not reserve a room.

Had an excellent multi-night stay. Free shuttle to and from Shin-Kobe and Sannomia stations. Room was clean and very comfortable, had every amenity you would expect, even little things like disposable razors & toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Very handy. Room had a nice view of Osaka Bay harbor. Quiet. Staff was great, check-in and out were fast. This is going to sound funny but a huge bonus is the fact there's a 7-11 right across the street. My friend stayed at the much more posh and expensive Portopia Hotel just around the corner. In addition to being double the price, his hotel was sprawling and chaotically crowded. Hotel Pearl City was much more convenient and relaxed. I would absolutely stay here again.

Good location & price!

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I felt like I should this time. My wife and I were only in Kobe for a night to see a show at Kobe World Hall and do some shopping. When I started looking for a hotel, I decided I'd try to find on on Port Island so we could walk to and from the Hall without needing to drive and park or find public transportation. Hotel Pearl City was the perfect place!

First, the room price for a Sunday night was unbelievably reasonable! I was expecting to pay double for the convenient location. Also, it was about a 3 block walk to the Hall, so that part was perfect. When we arrived, just after 2pm check-in, there was a parking spot available in the small attached lot. This lot is VERY small...maybe 10-12 spots...so if you're planning to park, I highly recommend getting there early. There is a fee to park, but it is so small that I almost couldn't believe it! We paid 2000-3000 yen per night to park near our recent hotel in Kyoto and 1500 yen per night to park near another hotel in Osaka. Both of those were in public lots a couple of blocks away. This was an attached lot, only for hotel guests, and only cost 500 yen per night! Fantastic!

The room was clean (though the carpet could use a thorough wet vac cleaning), and was bigger than our previous Japanese hotels. Plenty of space to stretch out and relax. The bathroom looks like it has been remodeled recently and was quite nice. I'd definitely stay here again if I need to spend a night or 2 in Kobe.

This hotel is definitely a great choice if you're visiting Kobe. It's not that much for a single-person room, but you definitely get a lot of perks compared to the average Japanese hotel. The room was the most spacious I've stayed in in Japan (and because I was doing a cross-country trip I stayed in about 5 or 6). Also one of the best things was the shuttle to and from the hotel from the two major stations Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe. Since Port Island is definitely not the most exciting part of the city it was good to have a reliable, simple way to get to the city's core. They also offered discount tickets to the onsen in Arima which is one of the top-rated in the country. Overall, I had a great experience!

great surprise

i booked this on the shinkansen on my way to another location late at night. it was going to be too late to reach my original destination and i decided to stay in kobe for the night and found a $ 60 deal on this one. this hotel is great. it has a seven eleven in front of it so you can buy stuff and get cash. the breakfeast was great. the room was a double and it was big. the hotel has a bunch of extras that i didn't try like a spa, library, kids nursery area. has a shuttle to the main stations in kobe and the airport. the view is not bad either. if i ever go back ill definitely consider this place. it definately looks like an upscale place.

For the price it is excellent. It's in a quiet city center, but the hotel has a regular shuttle bus to/from downtown/train station from where you go to almost everywhere else. From Kobe airport there is express bayshuttle to Kansi airport on the hour. Friendly staff willing to help. Not many ammendities in the room/hotel, but I find the city sports center excellent place to go. There were a lot of local tourists, young couples, groups, familes alike.

9月末でしたが夜はエアコン無しで休みました。
部屋からは海も見えて夜は船の夜景が綺麗でした。
街迄はリムジンバスが送迎してくれたのでとても便利でした。

外観は大きくて立派なのですが、室内が思った以上に暗いのと、壁紙が劣化していたり、浴槽に落ちない汚れがあったり。鏡とコンセントも少なく、古いので仕方ないかもしれませんが、ベッド横のライトカバーやサイドテーブルの裏側などの埃、部屋の匂いも気になりました。

立地はポートライナーの中埠頭駅近くで、三宮にすぐ出られます。目の前にセブンイレブンがあるのも良いです。
室内は広くベットも快適です。たまたま宿泊費が安かった喫煙ルームでしたが（たばこは喫いません）、たばこ臭もなく（天井の角部に若干黄ばみはあるかな・・・）過ごしやすかったです。コスパは非常によかったですね。

数十年前に数回利用しました。流石に古さも感じましたが、いろいろコスパも良く、今回の宿泊には特に問題はありませんでした。強いて言えば、部屋自体やや暗くて、パソコン作業をするなら不便かも。デスクライトの貸し出しがあるかは、確認してませんが、あれば借りることをおすすめします。施設自体、今後改装予定との情報も聞き、新たな施設になることを楽しみにしております。

エレベーターを降りた途端、お部屋も含めて煙草の臭いが気になりました。それ以外は、静かな環境でゆっくり休むことが出来ました。行き先のアクセスについて丁寧に調べて頂きました。ありがとうございました。

清掃が行き届いていませんでした。
ドライヤーの束ねたコンセント、テレビリモコンの下に髪の毛が残っていました。
スピードが求められるため見落としがあるのは仕方のないこと
