A good central hotel, with great staff

On arrival the service was brilliant, we were shown to our room - a large room with 2 single beds and a double sofa bed and not cramped at all!
The hotel is old, but very clean.
The music from the pub can be heard on their late opening on a Saturday, however, we got back late from a wedding and fell asleep through it, so didn't effect out stay.
The breakfast was lovely and the waiter on both mornings was really cheeful.
It also has free parking for hotel guests.
We would stay again.

The hotel is convenient in the centre of town. The room was a good size and had all we needed for the night. The shower was problematic with the water temperature wildly changing from ice cold to scalding so it wasn’t the best shower experience. That said it was clean and we had a good nights sleep

A great stay at the Griffin whilst visiting family in the area. Room was comfortable, comfy bed and pillows, grerat shower and friendly staff. The room was a little warm due to the weather but fans and a sheet, rather than a duvet to sleep under provided. Breakfast was good but a later serving time than 0900 would be helpful!

Lovely little pub. Only 11 rooms. Basic but nice and clean room tidied and fresh coffee making facilities every day.Easy check in. Stayed Monday to Thursday so didnt need the supplied ear plugs this is a live band pub at the weekend. Busy during the week. Pub menu 2 for £20 2 courses and a free drink each. Cant go wrong. Staff were friendly and helpful, special thank you to Natalia and the breakfast guy. Would definitely use as a base again.

Sleepless in March - but lovely staff

Check in was great, the gentleman who checked us in was helpful and enthusiastic. Parking is at the back of the hotel and you get a pass to park for free, which was good. It's an old building so expect uneven floors, creaks and quirks as part of its charm. The food is pub grub and reasonably priced. We stayed in room 1 which is large room directly above the main entrance and looks out to the street. It was really hot during the 2 days we stayed so windows had to be open as no aircon (which you wouldn't expect in an old place like this) . Unfortunately it meant very little sleep as all we could hear was drunk and loud people shouting outside the place way into the early hours the next day, plus the traffic. There were ear plugs provided on the tea tray so we can't be the only ones who didn't appreciate the racket outside. The staff were all nice and helpful so can't fault them at all. The lack of sleep ruined our break away so this isn't the place for us and we won't return the next time we come to March. If you are the type of person that doesn't awake even if there was a brass band in your room then you'll be fine.

Stayed here to go to a 60th birthday party in the area. Very friendly staff good facilities & a lovely clean room. We are a couple in our late 50’s and the loud music mentioned did not bother us at all. In fact I slept later than I normally do. Very comfortable beds

The service at this hotel was excellent. We stayed on a Wednesday night and we had the Carvery which was excellent. Best night sleep in the comfortable bed. Natalia was most helpful organising a taxi for us to the station.

Nice hotel staff were really friendly parking could be a little more clearer that there is additional spaces around the back of pub, room was of a nice size it was clean & bed comfortable, the not so good was the road noise, obviously that's hard to get away from being a high street pub, no privacy in bathroom window could of benefitted with something up at the window, breakfast was ok but did taste chargrilled in places, gentleman serving was friendly other than that it was a pleasant stay for 1night.

My heart sank when I checked in and was told there would be a disco from 10pm to 1am, it was a Friday night so really what could I expect. From my room I could actually hear very little and the bed was really comfy so I slept like a log. Very impressed overall, great stay.

Lovely friendly public house.

It was very welcoming from front door to reception
As for receptionist she was amazing giving us a tour and historical insight to the building. Explaining everything from car park pass to breakfast options and evening meals . Food was cooked to perfection we opted for the carvery witch was fantastic.
The selection of bar drinks where plentiful.
Our room are very clean and very comfortable with every thing you would need , plus if in need they have a night porter at your request .

Small but very clean and comfortable room and bathroom. Lower floor (the pub part) a little dated and could do with some tlc. Very busy due to a quiz night so a little noisy early evening but soon quietened down. Staff pleasant and helpful especially with mum (89) and myself (69) trying to carry luggage up and down the (quite steep) central staircase.

Stayed here two nights. Had a nice room and bath. Did not have any noise problems. Able to park in their little lot both nights. Breakfast was fine. Ate both nights in the pub and the food was very good. Specials each night made it a good option. Really like the cauliflower wings!

I was unable to stay there as I was in hospital. I accidently put the wrong date in of my stay. Unable to change it immediately through Expedia or the Hotel. There system was down and could not offer a refund! Neither could Expedia.....poor, poor service. I shall not use Expedia or the Griffen again.

Enjoyed a short stay here. Very central, plenty of parking available and a good sized room. There seems to be an issue with Expedia offering a free breakfast that the Inn doesn't actually do however Lee was more than happy to honour it as it was stated on our booking. Food was good too...

Due to COVID-19 there was no cooked breakfast, the website said we’d have a continental breakfast instead, but on arrival we were told that there was no breakfast, which incurred extra cost to our stay

Attending a wedding and decided to have a four night break. A wonderful hotel in a lovely location near River Nene. Booking in was quick and easy. Our room was spacious with a lovely bathroom. Had a meal on first night and was impressed with the variety on the menu, the quality of the food and the good service, then apart from the wedding, we ate there the other three nights as well. We also enjoyed a lovely Sunday carvery. The bar has a good selection of ales and also, despite getting busy, good service. The breakfast was also not disappointing, nice choice, well cooked, and thank you to Kila for the good friendly service and banter. We fancied a later breakfast on Sunday and this was easily arranged. The hotel has a DJ on Friday and Saturday night, hence the earplugs in the room, but our room was to the rear and we didn’t hear a thing. All in all a great break and we plan to return. Thank you

The staff were friendly and helpful - food was good—room was fine—however having arrived from a traumatic funeral we looked forward to a relaxing evening — the TV in the room was not working -it transpired that none of the tv,s were working —spending the evening in the pub was not an option because there was a disco planned.Although the staff and manager apologised the issues could not be rectified so we opted to leave the hotel and travel home (3 hour drive)not a relaxing evening we had planned.

A very pleasant stay and the team do a great job. Downstairs pub very friendly with good food at sensible prices. The room was large, clean and well appointed my only negative comment is that the door locks are \"mortice\" style so need to be manually locked when entering / leaving and it's easy to forget and leave the door unlocked, replacing with \"Yale\" type locks would be helpful. Other than that a good stay.
