There is no staff interaction, it is an automatic entrance system. You are provided with the exit door key pad number and the door number is the last four digits of your phone number. This is not too much of an issue as you do have contact numbers for any issues. Room was huge, with kitchenette, and clean. Large comfy bed. The onlh place we stayed that had a USB adapter available - a big plus for a UK visitor. The slight negatives, the room is in the ground floor and outside is rhe corridor to the attached restaurant. Regrettably sone noise was heard. Also the main front door is not locked. Now we had no problems, but I did wonder about the security of the premises. All in all a good stay and still recommended.

Max’s Roost was lovely! Clean, bright. It feels more like an AirBnB because there isn’t an in-person reception, but the communication was good and effective. There is a nice organized binder in the room to answer any questions you might have. My only warning is the bedframe is VERY creaky. If you turn over, it’s going to creak—very loudly. It’s alarming. Otherwise, it’s comfortable. At the restaurant below (which we highly recommend), some sort of mechanical noises started somewhere between 5-6am—guessing they were prepping for their delicious breakfast service. So, to do it over again, I would have put in earplugs. Would recommend for sure though-great location.

We really enjoyed being in the centre of town with the beautiful iconic church across the street and mountains in the background. It was surprisingly quiet at night. The amenities in the apartment were nice, including a full kitchen, comfortable bed, and sitting room. We would recommend this place wholeheartedly!

This is an absolutely beautiful property. We had the Murphy bed room and I was worried it might be on the small side. It was not at all. We had plenty of room. The bed was very comfortable too very comfortable chairs to sit in a little kitchenette a good size bathroom it was beautifully set up and clean. The restaurant was delicious. Everything about this place. It was superb. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, this is rated on Expedia as a three star. We are thinking more of 1.5. This is a self check in hotel, with no staff available. Upon entering it smells moldy and has a moldy rug. The outside has wood porches that have wood that has been eaten away by weather. The room is old, appeared clean but with a smell. The manager, Paul, has no person Thank goodness, Expedia is backing us up on this with the photos that we provided.

Our stay at the Butler House was fantastic. The pullout couch was so comfortable and the entire room and bathroom was spacious. I did contact the owners regarding the tub not draining great and we did lose hot water faster than we would have liked. But, we would 100% stay here again and had an amazing time. You really can't beat the location.

We stayed in unit #9 which is in the front of the building; it was very noisy in the morning as restaurant visitors lined up to get in (FYI-food was excellent!). Had I known, I would have booked a room towards the back. Also (small complaint), batteries in the AC remote were dead, moved them from the cable remote as needed. Really great location!!!! Would definitely return.

This is a great place to stay if you are fit. It's right in the heart of town, clean, cute, reasonably priced, and has a breakfast resturant attached. If you are mobility challenged keep looking. Parking is in the rear. I asked for help from other guests who said no and would not let me in the back door. Steps up to the front door are met with no place to sit in the entry way to rest. NO ONE WORKS THERE. THERE IS NO CLERK ON DUTY. Your key us hanging on the wall, and a flight of steep stairs confronts you. Again, no chair at the top of the stairs to rest, just more steps down to the room. Zero thought has been given to seniors, or handicapped. Trying to manage all of this with luggage was such a challenge, I canceled my plans for the next day and stayed hidden in my room reading. Every door that shuts vibrates the walls, and slams loud. Upon exit, I phoned for help with my luggage on the steep steps. NOPE! SORRY. NO ONE IS ON LOCATION. THIS IS NOT A Senior Friendly Location, or HANDICAPPED LOCATION. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT?

The Parlour at the Butler House was perfect as far as location with a direct view as we are in front of the church. Loved being able to walk to restaurants and shops all within two blocks. It’s great space with comfortable sitting area super clean and kitchenette with microwave small fridge, sink and dish ware for when doing take out, having a bottle of wine or cup of coffee. The Breakfast place is closed due to COVID so one must go to the Whip if you want a proper breakfast. The only complain we had was the horrible smell of kitchen grease that permeated everything. I emailed the owner but never got a response. We ended up buying some small fragrance candles and pine incense at the general store which cover the smell. Windows are drafty but they gave us a nice duvet. And after our third day figured out how to use the heater as they left no instructions. Check in no one was there we were told where we would find them and we did self check in and out as never saw proprietor. Overall I recommend this place as it ticks all the boxes and if the smell bothers you the general store has what you need.

Charming guest house right on Main Street close to all shops, restaurants, etc. My room was spotless, decorated nicely, and felt very cozy. Loved the exposed brick and wood floors, ample closet space, and a Keurig for your morning coffee. Make sure you walk across the street and take a stroll through the lovely Stowe Recreation Path behind the church.

Very happy with the location and meal. It’s nice being in the middle town allowing for walks after eating. The maple sausage were fully cook & moist. The blue pancakes were excellent you could actually taste the berries, which were large and fresh. The Eggs Benedict were worth the order. The Pantry is the kind of place that makes you want to order your way down the menu.

The stay has been absolutely wonderful! The Lounge room has its own private entrance, and it’s much bigger than the pictures made it look. The original wood flooring has the cute creeks that I love. The high ceilings add such a great feel to the gorgeous room. To wrap it all up, today is September 11th, the church across the street has been ringing it’s bell for a full minute on each time in remembrance of our lost loved ones. Highly recommend this place. The town is quant.

Butler House is a perfect place if you want convenient downtown Stowe. Our room, Parlor Suite, was bigger than we anticipated and a reasonably well stocked kitchenette to allow for some in-room eating. Charming old hotel in a great location. If you want pools and game rooms, this isn’t the place. But if you want a quaint clean charming historic building hotel in downtown Stowe its a perfect place.

My wife and I could not have been happier, with our first visit to the Butler House! Paul is a wonderful host! The room was immaculate, and cozy as could be! We would not hesitate to return. Also, the breakfast at The Butlers Pantry, downstairs, was one of the best we’ve ever had! Don’t hesitate to consider the Butler House, the next time you’re in Stowe! You’ll be happy you did!

Zoe's loft was very charming and cozy but really tiny for 4 people. Also, the sleeping accommodations were not very comfortable. Also, there were no clean towels given each day or bed making services.

Be prepared for hands-off service
The pull-down bed was a surprise but it was comfortable albeit not leaving much room to move around once it was down. The hotel promotes a hands-off approach with limited housekeeping, which is fine if you know what to expect. Great location in the heart of town. Quiet Path is easily accessible for an invigorating walk in beautiful surroundings. The breakfast is the talk of the town and rightly so although don’t expect any preferential treatment as a guest of the hotel. Our room was above the restaurant, which meant we were woken early as the chairs and tables were set out at about 6:30 am.

It was a very tiny space, but we knew that from the photo at time of booking. It was cozy and very clean. Appreciated that even though the property was very old, the plumbing and electrical outlets had been upgraded/updated, and that the bathroom had new fixtures.

Well maintained house and it was perfect for our family. Charming little town, the breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was very delicious (note that it is not free for customers staying in the inn, this is just a fyi). If we have to come back we will surely stay here again.

An absolutely perfect location - right on Main Street, in Stowe, Vt. We stayed in the Butler's Pantry room which had a small kitchen, living room and bedroom-which you could close off with french doors. Everything was spotless, fluffy white towels, creamers in the fridge and coffee pods in the cupboard. Bed was comfy with soft pillows. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for more.

Our 2 night stay at the Bulter House in Stowe was awesome. Probably one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. Beautiful room with all the necessities included. They also serve the best breakfast in town. I would recommend the Bulter House to anyone traveling to Stowe
