The staff was very friendly and helpful, also very thorough about their policies and amenities. The breakfast was wonderfully fresh and delicious. They offered several vegetarian, vegan and regular options, which made it easy to pick. And you could get any combination of these options. The property was lovely and reflected the style of the period it was built. Our was large and comfortable, and even though it faced the street, it was very quiet.

The Old Stagecoach Inn is not an ultra modern hotel and not trying to be. Expect nicely appointed old VT charm, a nice central gathering area with a wood burning fire and comfy chairs + games and puzzles. This is for sure - the breakfasts are really truly great. In the evening, walking access to Waterbury restaurants is also a big win.

What really stood out to me was how accommodating the owner was. My brother decided to join us last minute even though I had booked for only three people. I reached out to let her know, and she kindly updated the booking to four guests without any extra charge. I truly appreciated her flexibility and hospitality. I definitely recommend!

We stayed in room 12 at the back of the property for a long birthday weekend. It was fantastic (made even more special because the staff recognized that it was our birthday even thought we didn’t tell them and they made it special)!
Room was clean and bed was comfy. Shower was small but there is no way to make it bigger because of the slant of the roof. I didn’t think we would need the efficiency kitchen but I was wrong. It was nice to have a place to store leftovers, wine and beer, and snacks. I have seen reviews about noise but I think they be referring to the rooms in the main building. We had no issues with noise (and there was a sound machine in the room too!).
Breakfast was wonderful and we really appreciated access to coffee, tea, water, and cookies in the lobby all the time. We enjoyed sitting the lobby or out on the porch to enjoy our drinks.

Beautiful property, convenient to walk to shops and restaurants. Every employee we encountered was wonderful and friendly. We enjoyed sitting in the community sitting room with a nice fireplace. The lobby has a list of local restaurants that are open each day as well as local events. Had a delicious cocktail in the on site pub. Breakfast is included and was amazing! Fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, overnight oats and the choice of 5 hot entrees cooked to order-and it was so yummy! We will be back for sure

The cooked breakfasts were excellent and it was walking distance to the centre of the old district with multiple restaurant options. Rooms are well maintained given the building dates from the 1820s. Some creaking floors and missing some of the mod cons but lots of character and history. Staff very helpful in recommending places to eat at and things to see.

First, the Old Stagecoach Inn building itself has plenty of character, starting with the front sitting area that encourages visitors to talk / read / work on a puzzle with a cup of tea / coffee / lemonade. The character extends to the rooms, which each have a different style, and we followed the description to specifically chose one with a \"more romantic, historic feel\".
Second, the breakfasts were incredible, and encouraged us to indulge far more than we should have. There are full restaurants that would not have produced the quality of these meals, and that is another benefit of staying at independent properties that take pride in their work.
We got to know the staff fairly well over just a few days, and not only to unique and character apply, but we felt welcomed as guests in a home rather than customers.
Waterbury itself has a lot to offer for a quiet getaway, with plenty of restaurants in walking distance, a great bookstore just around the corner, many boutique shops, as well as Burlington, Montpelier and Stowe just a short drive away.
I hestitate to post such a glowing review, because the last thing we want is too much competition when scheduling our next stay.

The room was not ready, no pillow cases and not clean. Few little house guest already in the room. Spider in his web and a beetle flying around. Very small bathroom in an expensive room. No shower curtain but was installed after we mention it. Sink had a crack and was tiny. No space to put your toilet stuff in bathroom. Day time host was not professional buth evening host was great. Breakfast was very good and the waitress was great.

Wonderful and friendly accommodating staff. Called to let them know I would be checking in really late and they forwarded instructions of how to gain entry and the location of my room which was #4. I’ve been staying in hotels for the last 2 months so this was a nice change of pace. Sorry to report that I was way too tired to get up for breakfast which ended at 9AM. Walked down the street and had an amazing breakfast at Maxi’s. Walked along the trail path that follows the river and and went by the train station where there was a really nice coffee shop with outstanding pastries. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and wish I could have spent more time especially since there was a really nice fireplace in the great room of the house.

This inn was wonderful, quaint, and we had a really great stay! Our breakfast was included and delicious! There was a menu for us to order from, as well as a small spread to pick from. The fire, games, and bar in the common area were fun to hang out. And definitely try their in-house baked cookies from the lobby cookie jar!

Pick your room carefully
They have a lot of different rooms. The tiny room I booked (105) was too small to even have a chair in the room. I woke up and inadvertently kicked the small radiator then bumped my head on the low ceiling before getting the light on. It is that kind of tiny. The shower head in the shared bathroom is at chest height and is a rain spout style, so you have to scrunch down to get clean. I am 5’11”.

The hospitality here was amazing. The beds were so comfy (we slept for almost 12hours - which never really happens at home). Also, the breakfast offered in the morning is amazing! I espcially loved the Salmon cakes (i highly recommend).

Was informed that 3-4 rooms share the bathroom down the hall. It has a tub sitting on the floor with a 360 degree curtain. So that was not what I expected...to share a tub without cleaning between users. Shower mechanism was broken and shower head was only a little higher than 5 feet. And no TV in my room.

Tried staying in Waterbury instead of Burlington for return to UVM. So happy to have tried the Stagecoach Inn. James and the rest of the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and clear. The location is perfect for walking to many great restaurants. Will be back for sure.

The breakfast is very nice and the check in comes with cookies! The staff is great. The room (10) is deficient in many ways. It is a clean room but it is below average in many ways - lame bed.. .squeaky tubular steel. Lame air conditioner that comes from Ocean State Job Lot and is very loud even on low fan and is right next to the bed. On the other side 4 feet from the bed is the toilet. The Door to the bathroom actually hits the toilet. The microwave is not anchored and moves around. It is not a comfortable room for me. If it was reappointed and rethought, it would be great. There is nothing unclean about the room - it's just compromised by poor design and amenities.
