The hotel is pretty old. The bathroom ceiling is peeling , might be due to water damages. The room smells dumped or even mold. It seems the rug and furnitures are all very old. It was not very pleasant to stay an old hotel with smell.

Check in staff were very courteous and helpful. We arrived quite early and they were happy to store our bags and no cost and allowed us into our room. An hour early room is spacious and tidy and right in the heart of the CBD.

Our room was dated and very musty smelly. The carpet was stained from years of wear and tear. The furniture was chipped and stained and the longe was saggy. There was also steep stairs down into the room with no handrail which proved an issue with my elderly mother. Would not recommend to anyone.

This is a lovely old hotel right in the heart of the city. The room was beautiful and spacious with a mini kitchen and even a washer and dryer. There is a lovely cafe on street level that is very popular. The Queen Street Mall, the pedestrian-only main shopping and entertainment district, is right outside the hotel. The Brisbane Botanical Gardens are two blocks away. The Brisbane River is two blocks away.

Outstanding accomodation in the sub-penthouse! The only thing stopping me giving 5 stars was the unpleasant smell in the room. I don’t think it’s anything sinister, just a shame. And after a while you don’t notice it. The room was amazing though.

The central location of this hotel is fantastic - it's so close to everything in the CBD. The parking situation is hard to navigate, particularly with current roadworks. The Royal Albert has vintage charm and is clean. Some attention to detail is needed, but it didn't distract from a great stay.

This is a broken hotel. Right from the carpet smell to all equipment are broken condition. Added to this is parking complications. I would say no to anyone planning to book here. My worst stay. The only compliment was one of the receptionist trying to solve the problem. No no no for any tourist families.

The Royal Albert Hotel is so convenient being right in the CBD. During our stay we went for many walks to see all the Christmas decorations & lights, everything was so close by. We enjoyed a perfect stay with the staff being very attentive & explained everything very well to us.

What I liked most about this hotel were the location and their staff. It took about 10 minutes walking to the trains but I don't mind the walking. The hotel was like right in the center of CBD surrounded by many shops, restaurants, etc.

And their staff was so helpful and courtesy. Also, you would need your key room to access the hotel after hours so I felt pretty safe staying in this hotel

The curtains in the room were falling down in the centre and at one end. We asked reception to get them fixed but we were told as there were no staff to do that it would not happen until the next day. We asked for another room but were told they were at capacity. We asked for a reduction in the room price and were told to email management, which we did. We have received no reply to our email. There are also about 5 or 6 stairs within in approx a couple of metres of entering the room that lead down into the sleeping and living area. The toilet/bathroom is to the left at the top of these stairs. The stairs were not mentioned or shown in the photos of the delux room we booked. We consider the stairs a safety hazard and would have liked to have been informed about them.

We had read a lot of bad reviews before we arrived but our stay was excellent. Yes,the carpets might need renewing but our apartment had everything we needed. Great kitchen and appliances. Large lounge dining room. Plenty of space in the bedroom. Updated bathroom and a handy laundry. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again as in the heart of Brisbane and easy to get around

The Royal Albert Hotel is beautiful accommodation located in an 18th century heritage listed building that is over 100 years old. Our room was on the 8th floor, was clean, spacious and comfortable. The period fittings and decor complimented our room. Situated right in the heart of the Brisbane CBD you’re walking distance to the Queen Street Mall, Wintergarden, Brisbane Arcade and designer stores as well as a number of restaurants and cafes.

Room was a bit dated, with some fittings showing their age in both style and wear.
The room size was amazing with plenty of space to relax if necessary.
Check in was easy and relatively clear, but no wifi details on the card folder other than 'ask reception' - would be better to include this information or offer it up at check in.
Check out was good, with clear guidance on how to tackle the parking aspect; this worked as explained and was straight-forward.
I would probably pick a more modern place next time as I felt this location was overpriced for the quality.

There is a management problem with this hotel. I don’t feel safe in it because when I return to my room next day I found my room’s door was widely open. My room’s door was open while I was not in the hotel! It stunned me. I reported it to the front desk immediately and nobody gave me an explanation just like nothing has happened.
This is my first time experience like that, terrible experience.

It was a shock to check in and find that I had to pay $80 more than the booking I was offered. This soured the experience. I do not want this to reflect on the staff who were not able to assist at that time as such entities take it out of their hands. Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful but at end of day I am informed by another that this has happened to them also on Trivago. I should also have checked the information that I was sent as confirmation to be sure I received the rate that was offered. Lesson learnt but I won't be using Trivago as guide for cheapest rate.

Good hotel for Central Brisbane

The Royal Albert is very centrally located, right in the heart of Brisbane. It is very convenient for shopping and restaurants. The room was very large and well appointed. There was a washer/dryer in the room, which was a plus. There was also a mini-fridge and microwave. However, internet connectivity was not good. The internet was very slow, and sometimes not available. Also, the water pressure in the shower was not very strong. Nevertheless, I would stay here again.

A little dissapointed this stay. We have previously stayed with a positive experience however this time we were a little let down. The parking set up has had to change which is fair enough, however there was no communication of this prior to arriving. Secondly the cleanliness of the room was poor. Dusty, forgotten about areas, blankets with stains/marks. We also found a loose pill/medication on the floor and considering we had a small child with us we were quite alarmed at this.

Decor needs redoing, but nice enough. Ceiling air transfer cover in bedroom was filthy. TV rendomly turned on at 4am one night!

Brisbane CBD - central for business/travel

Very central to CBD and fairly quiet. Rooms are odd in structure as it seems to be converted warehouse floors into very comfortable bedroom, dining and living areas plus kitchen and washing / dryer.
Not overly suited for persons that are constrained by steps as have to go up/down four steps for usage of each area.
Bar for that room was very comfortable and relaxing.

Do not be fooled by the high ratings as we were. Our 2 night stay at the Royal Albert Hotel was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever endured. I would strongly advise booking elsewhere.

From the moment we entered our suite, it was clear there was a lack of basic maintenance. We immediately reported significant issues with both the toilet and the shower to the front desk. While the staff member seemed caring and attentive, no action was ever taken to resolve these problems, leaving us with a partially functional bathroom for our entire stay. The door handle to the suite was also broken.

The noise level was simply unacceptable. Major construction work went on outside our window until well past 11 p.m. on weeknights, making sleep completely impossible. A hotel's most basic promise is a place to rest, and the Royal Albert failed spectacularly. Our request to move rooms, even with an offer to pay for an upgrade, was ignored.

To top it all off, the pull-out sofa was horrendously uncomfortable. The mattress was so thin you could feel every single spring digging into your back. We had to request an extra mattress from a fold-out bed just to make it bearable, for which the hotel tried to charge us extra until we refused. Then, upon checking out, we found we had been overcharged by $30 for parking.

This hotel is not professionally managed. Problems are ignored, guest comfort is an afterthought, and billing is careless. I cannot recommend it under any circumstances.

The room was worn but very clean and comfortable, with lots of room to spread out. It is in a central location that is convenient for access to buses and about a 10-minute walk to the ferry and train station. There are several grocery stores nearby, plus a pharmacy and a lot of other food and shopping options. The first room I was given had a broken washer, so if you are staying for a while and counting on a washer, you may want to let the management know in advance. The staff was great and found me another room, but they appear to be very popular, so that may not always be an option. Also, the WiFi was erratic. Despite these issues, I still found it a comfortable stay, and will stay there again if I ever come back to Brisbane.

When contacting the property using a message system on Expedia, I could tell it was definitely a robot returning my messages. I got the same message three different times when trying to ask a question about an airport shuttle. A personal response would have been much more helpful.
