Very central location. Lovely old building. But,
the room needs to feel more comfy, with a better fitout, updated bathroom, fluffier pillows & crisp bed linen. Also, there were a few too many carpet stains and marks on the lounge. It felt like a room used for a junior employee's business stay not a luxurious hotel room.

I have stayed at the Macarthur many times over the years, and have enjoyed it until now. I am getting tired of their on-going, never-ending renovations (I've never been able to use either the pool or the gym...) but this was the first time the unit itself fell short of expectations. First of all, the dryer had a note on it to the effect that it was \"under repair\" and could not be used; this got things off to a bad start because I was arriving with a pile of dirty laundry that I had planned to wash on arrival (a reasonable expectation given that the property was advertised with both a washer and a dryer...). So I ended up using the provided drying rack for the duration of my stay... NONE of the appliances worked properly, and I ended up being unable to cook in the unit. ALL of the appliances need to be replaced. It's a shame, because the building and the staff are great, and the location can't be beat...

I absolutely love staying at MacArthur Chambers. The rooms are spacious and always spotless. The reception staff are always friendl and helpful. MacArthur Chambers offers the best value for money in the CBD. Location is great, so close to everything. This is our home away from home when visiting Brisbane.

Parking spaces could definitely be improved/increased - there were very few for hotel guests. The wifi was very slow if it worked at all. Arrival instructions could be better. It was hard to find at first and the reception number didn’t work when we tried calling for help.
Other than that we had a great stay. It’s in a great location and we had a lovely big room

Absolutely not worth it.
Just one positive thing to say is the great location. Directly in the center, walking distance to everything.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment suitable for 4 adults.
It has a table for 4 with 2 chairs. The gas stove worked only at the back. The washer had hair all over. See picture… the bathroom floor had yellow stains and hair all over …see picture
There was mold … see picture
The carpet was full with stains and dirty. The lamp above the table had a living bio culture…

Parking in the garage is a plus despite we didn’t manage to use the key for entering. The sign near the key reader from the hotel said this happens a lot… keep trying… Maybe a new reader ?

Overall it was filthy…. Old and never been upgraded or thoroughly cleaned…

The pictures they show on the internet might be the upgraded ones. The reception showed us a paper for complaints… She was helpful but not able to change anything…

I know you comment will be that you’re happy with the feeds back and will take note of it but after seeing the earlier bad review I’m sure nothing changed so far.

Advise … avoid this place…

Great location right in Brisbane CBD, which made everything really convenient. The apartment itself is spacious and has everything you need — a kitchen, dining area, living room, bathroom, and a separate bedroom. We also appreciated having laundry facilities and being able to wash our clothes during the stay.
That said, the apartment feels a bit worn and dated, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, so a few updates/renovations would really improve the overall experience. Overall, a solid stay mainly thanks to the size and the central location.

Hotel under renovation which I found out after booking. However that is no excuse for not maintaining rooms. Toilet seat broken, shower head stuffed, door fell off kitchen cabinet. Couldn't control AC. Dryer out of order. Very disappointed.

This is a well priced hotel in a very good location. I would give it more stars but it is a little run down, washing machine was broken, a number of the lights in the room did not work, toilet seat was on one hinge. Nothing major and for the price and location enjoyed my stay.

XXL Large unit for a single room booking and nice decore but in main bedroom the lights were a dull orange bulb, air con didn’t reach bedroom so tried fan which didn’t help much either.

Lights through to tv room/living room also needed bulbs replaced, flickering constantly.
Wifi wouldn’t connect (was working for a few minutes then after trying to reconnect 10 times or more, it would ‘connect’ but drop off straight away.

**Was locked out of apartment for an hour due to the hallway/ unit door swipe card access’s point batteries dying. **

No hot water from shower.Blood mark on the duvet

Hot water from shower is not available when I arrived at 8 PM in the first night. I have opened the tap for more than 10 mins and still only cold water. Nightmare after a long day. Left the message to the host on the platform.

Hot water becomes available second day. But still no one comes back to me what has happened .

When I checked out, the reception girl told me “ they will look into it” . Now 10 hours has passed, no one contacts me.

Also there is blood mark on the duvet…not good

Incredible Value for an Apartment Hotel.

Absolutely beautiful historic property with an unbeatable location in the Brisbane CBD. These are apartments, so you'll have a fully equipped kitchen and ensuite laundry. There's a Woolworths next door for anything you'll need to stock up the kitchen, but you've got lots of options nearby too. Perfect for longer stays, but even for the couple of nights I was there, it was unbeatable value. Make sure to check out the MacArthur Museum in the building to learn more about the fantastic history of this property.

Hotel was quiet and spacious. But wifi was terrible and room needs to be refurbished. But main concern was with check-in: it would have saved a great deal of stress and confusion if we’d been told the check-in procedures before beginning our trip - at least a day in advance. As it was, we arrived at the hotel with reception closed, no wifi, no phone linked to a local network. We were lucky to even get into the lobby. It was only through some creativity we were able to find out how to access our room key, and after a stressful period of uncertainty. This was not a good start to our stay.

Great location, clean and spacious rooms. Front desk was unwilling to hold bags. Despite paying over 300 AUD a night, the 4 occupants in a 3 bathroom apartment received 2 cake soaps and 2 shampoos. Better attitude from the staff and less stinginess with minor items would have made for a better experience.

Check in was a shambles. I had emailed prior to the trip to say I would be arriving early, to store our bags, with a reply stating that was ok. When we arrived, there was no one at reception and all indications that no one would be there all day. On calling the ‘help’ number we were advised to walk to their sister apartments, which we did dragging our bags, only to walk back again shortly after as a staff member had turned up to work! He was polite and helpful.
The apartment was large, but all I can say is the photos make it look nice. Cupboard doors were falling off, holes in the wall, toilet seat not secured, toilet flush buttons broken and missing, the ensuite shower was unusable due to no curtain or splash glass and the beds are on wheels so they roll with every movement. It is central and convenient, but the maintenance is very poor.

The place look fabulous but once in there are a lot of details that needs attention. There is plenty of room for improvement in the maintenance, the adveritsed pool and spa has been closed for what it looks a long while, hand towels were not provided even as asked for, and the entry via the garage door never worked.

The location of MacArthur Chambers is perfect for the city. The parking arrangement is a bit painful, but it’s cheap for Brisbane, so that’s compensation. The apartment was lovely inside although our sheets smelt mouldy. Overall it’s really good value and very convenient.

Carpet could be professionally cleaned. Shower needed a major deep clean. The white grout was BROWN & the water didn't drain. I felt unsafe as the balcony door would not latch locked. Also, beware the reception is closed Sat/Sun. This is not something you check when renting a hotel so out of courtesy please state this more obviously! I had NO view, just the offices across from my balcony that I could almost touch. It was in a great spot, however, and it was a really good size.

The apartment was fantastic. It’s very spacious clean and had great amenities. We did not receive an email with check-in instructions until we had already pulled up to the apartment. We were driving into the parking garage for the building and we were able to call and get a hold of the attendant. However, we already had to go in to the parking area and we had to pay for parking while we went up and got our keys and the key card. You have to have the key card to use at the parking garage or you have to pay to park there. Once we got the key for the apartment the parking was fine. Wilde the apartment is spacious and very nice, the Wi-Fi does not work. There were three different options for Wi-Fi and we tried all three. None of them give you any service in the apartment. Had I known this beforehand I would have gone to a different place to stay because I was on an international phone plan and ended up using all of my data. Even cell service was spotty in the apartment. Be aware, the Wi-Fi does not work in the apartment.

Excellent position, clean, quiet, beautiful historic building. Booked 2 bed apartment for 3 adults, with 2 singles and 1 double bed. Got a fold out bed which is ok but NO SHEETS, no towels, after chasing housekeeping who were lovely they arrived. Only ONE keycard for 3 adults was poor, and the fact the INCORRECT keycard was given to us and we could not enter our room, had to chase house keeping 20 minutes later. I think they should have reception OPEN on WEEKENDS.

The room was very tired, carpets all lifting and stained. There was an awful odour from the cleaning agents being used to cover up the mustiness. We had a room attached to our area with an industrial dehumidifier running. The internet connection did not work. No hairdryer. Very poor experience for the money spent.

Generously sized, nicely furnished two bedroom apartment with 2.5 bathrooms in a great location with easy access to ferries and lots of dining and shopping options.
Cons- no coffee machine, only instant and did not receive check in information by email, so we’re waiting on the street until someone was entering the building and let us in and showed us where to pick up our room key. Most locations email international travellers as understand they may not have access to text.

The room was filthy and smell like mould. Item’s left in cupboards, bathroom and bedroom linen was dirty and stained, kitchen was oily on surfaces and dirty. Bath tub had pubic hairs in it. Mould on the furniture and walls, fridge not clean and a lot of mould on it.

This was a very spacious property, making it feel more like a home. Very comfortable. I was able to entertain family with plenty of space.
Only negative was not being able to get the shower to work. This was offset by the spa bath!
The pool and barbecue areas were closed, which was a pity.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again because of the space on offer.

Positives are a great location for proximity to CBD, spacious rooms and convenient under ground parking on site. Unfortunately the bed and pillows were uncomfortable, the carpet was stained, the shower handle was rusted, the cooking utensils were dirty and the view was of a department store storeroom.

There weren't any cups and plates in the room. Other facilities are very good.
I had my cup. So I could make coffee.
If I did not have it, I had to go to shop and to buy it.
If I needed to cook, I needed a plate.

You walk in and it’s stunning. The issue is the hallway between the elevator and the rooms. On the 4th floor the carpet smells like urine and is so pungent that you have to hold your breath and try and walk quickly. The room we had was a relief to walk into.

The beautiful hotel could be something if it was maintained correctly and run well, we had problems with the fridge, rust coming out of it! The wifi would only work in certain areas and if you got it you would only receive one bar. The service was horrid and unreliable. We asked them to help fix the wifi we received no assistance in taking our luggage to our aapartment .

The property is old and run down and also filthy. The dust, mould and grime was not nice at all. We were also not communicated with correctly for the parking and we were not told there was no out of hours reception. We stayed one night and cancelled the following 2 nights and went somewhere nicer. I wouldnt recommend at all.

The location is exceptional. The room well presented and neat. Getting in the front door was awkward. At 2.05 we were told our room wasn’t ready and we would have to wait for a code and access to the safe. That arrived at 2.17 and there were 3 other families waiting for theirs. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Not quite like the pictures!

The hotel was conveniently located in the Brisbane City just near the Apple Store across the road from the end of the mall.

Shops and restaurants were nearby.

The entrance was extremely difficult to locate. The two bedroom apartment was very large. The furniture comprised older and newer items.

The dishwasher was partially broken. The tiny patio had a broken clothes dryer, one chair that was filthy, a broken hose pipe, dirty bamboo style privacy screen and an old door thing.

It was very dark in the apartment, you needed to keep the lights on.

We were extremely disappointed about the pool. The pictures looked lovely, however the pool was what looked like, in a state is disrepair. It was empty with green mould / scum all down the sides. It stated it was under repair, albeit with the way it was looking, it must have been like this for a very long time.

I doubt I would stay there again. Quite disappointing.

Staff were very pleasant and professional.
