Lovely stay and clean and comfortable room. Shower was great! Spa is so nice and modern, best bit is the outdoor heated pool with views over the Clyde. Dinner was lovely in the Vista restaurant and the whisky bar was nice and sophisticated. Breakfast was the only criticism as they had run out of a lot of continental options when we arrived around 9:30am and the hot food was okay. Overall we had a great stay and would return again.

Breakfast was tasty and a good variety. Only issue is having to book to use the pool or sauna etc which we were not told about at check in by staff when asked to.book for breakfast and dinner and also a charge of £25 pp for a 2 hour slot. We paid as this was one of the reasons we booked Gleddoch as had been many times before since our daughter had her wedding there is 2022. But this will be our last and we cant justifying spending that amount every days of our stay and also having to book so takes away the relaxing issue of staying there

We were a bit blind sided at the start of the stay with the additional £25pp for 2 hours use of the spa. I tried to call the hotel to confirm this before we stayed and waited 10 mins on the call before I got through to reception. The receptionist advised me there was a staff Christmas lunch on and she had just returned to the desk. Once I was there at the hotel we spoke to the Duty manager who when I advised that I was pretty annoyed about having to call several times and then wait ten mins to get through to reception to be told “that’s normal and what can be expected” which I fully disagreed with any place should not leave any customers having to sit on a ringing phone for 10 mins without someone at least answering and advising they’re busy and putting on hold. This left a bitter taste in our mouth as it’s just not acceptable for management to accept that as a suitable time to leave a customer waiting without speaking to anyone. Just left us a bit annoyed.

This was our third time staying at the Gleddoch, but the first time since it’s has its spa upgrade (which now comes at a £25pp additional cost). We had 2 rooms booked for bed and breakfast.

There is no use of the spa, which includes the pool that was previously included in a standard stay, for anyone under 16. Not great considering we have 3 kids under 16. None of this information was available before booking.

We ate in the vista restaurant, as we have in the past, and felt that the standards have also slipped… Additionally, the whole hotel now operates a “cashless only” policy. I personally don’t agree with this position.

We also didn’t sleep great.

The breakfast was ok.

We travel a lot, both in and out of the UK. We stay in a lot of 4&5* hotels as a family, and the Gleddoch used to be ones of our favourites in the area, apart from the Cameron House. Now, the price per night isn’t much cheaper than the Cameron house, and it has less amenities for a family like us than it did last year. I feel that the recent changes are a backward step for the casual family hotel guests like us… We wont be staying again any time soon.

The Spa was way too busy. It was impossible to get access to the outdoor hot tubs as people got in early and never left them for the whole session. There were lots of guests, including us, who missed on that experience. I think some sort of fair use system must be put into place because I reckon this must happen all the time.

Stayed here for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay. The executive room was lovely and had a river view. The only downside of that was when the spa opened you could hear voices outside, especially when the spa opens early in the morning. The shower was great and bed really comfy. Breakfast in the hotel was good. They do continental help yourself and order the hot food and tea/coffee. The first morning we did wait quite a long time to order and noticed others who came in after us ordered and received their food before we ordered and it wasn’t too busy. The 2nd day we ordered quickly and received our food quickly so wasn’t a regular thing with the slow service. The spa was lovely too having been done up. The outdoor is great and indoor relaxing, the indoor pool was a little cold though! We did have messages also which were lovely. I would return again, I would just be prepared for the colder indoor pool and allocate longer for breakfast.

Stayed regularly previously. Had a gift voucher for afternoon tea. We always loved the pool but it was difficult with the new policies- guests now pay a staggering £25 each to use the pool but they also get less access than day visitors having a spa - access at 7 am till 9 am ( on holiday !!) or in the evening - made it difficult to fit in afternoon tea ( which we previously would have done on day of departure) and dinner !
Had to leave spa early ( after paying £25 for two hours ) to run to dinner as dining room closing !

Could do with a fridge in the room.
The Spa it is really beautiful, the pool is stunning and nice saunas and steam rooms, however I do not understand the rule that hotel residents only get to use it between certain hours and have to pay £25 per person to use it. This meant that my husband and i paid £50 to hardly use the spa! It was so busy there was not enough loungers for everyone, the sauna and stream rooms were uncomfortably full, spa is supposed to be relaxing but it was the total opposite we left after 30 mins. If hotel residents are only getting to use it between certain hours then do not charge for this. It puts me off going back which is a shame.

We arrived on a hot day and the room was absolutely roasting, no air conditioning so we had to sleep on top of bed with the windows open. I had asked for a quiet room but our room overlooked the carpark where cars were arriving from 6am! The room across from ours had a dog in it and it barked every time owners left room. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was nice but overpriced and when in for breakfast the floor was disgusting, crumbs everehere. We booked this hotel as a treat as i turned 60 when there . Couldn't be bothered to complain when checking out as it was my birthday and just wanted to get away quick

Rooms were a bit grubby and unkept. Furniture looked well worn/bashed with dirty skirtings and there was loads of cables hanging down out the TV. The room was so hot which is of course outwith hotels control but there was a fan in the room which helped. Continental breakfast was average. Spa facilities were nice although I’d be reluctant to use at a weekend/evening as not sure the bar aligns with the relaxing aim of using a spa with drunk people being loud. When booking I thought the price was really reasonable for how the hotel looked in photos but after visiting I can see the price reflected it. All the staff we encountered were welcoming and friendly.

I had ordered a bottle of wine for my stay and never received it. I was never told that to access the pool you not only has to pay £25/person and have designated time slots but you can only go to the indoor pool if you’re 16 yrs and older. The restaurant is very posh and EXPENSIVE. Very limited in food options for families with kids. It was nice but I wouldn’t go back. 3 dinners, 3 drinks £118?! Ridiculous.

Great Spa but rooms need updated

We booked as a spa night away as birthday gift for my partner. The spa was absolutely amazing however it is not clear on hotels.com that this is not included in your stay, it is an extra £25 each which is disappointing to not be included.
The room was quite small and needs renovated/TLC with chipped furniture etc.
The room was very hot with no AC but when we opened the window we struggled to sleep due to a very noisy fan generator thing outside of our window. Overall I would come back because of the spa being so good.

This was my first visit to this hotel, and I had high expectations because my family had stayed here a couple of years ago and had an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, my visit was not enjoyable.

1. We traveled from Canada to stay here, and on the day we arrived, there was no power. The staff were waiting for generators to arrive, which meant there were no lights, no restaurant service, and no access to the spa.

2. Two years ago, children were allowed to use the pool. My 6-year-old niece was overwhelmingly excited to swim, but now the spa is adults-only and requires a fee for access. Kids are not allowed at all, even with an adult present.

3. I paid to upgrade my room for a view of the Clyde River. However, when I got to my room, the view was of the parking lot and a corner of the golf course. They did switch my room, but it wasn't worth the upgrade.

4. There are no elevators in this hotel, so I had to carry my 50-pound suitcase up three flights of stairs.

5. The rooms are dated and extremely hot, even when it’s cold outside. I kept the window open and used a fan during the entire nine-day stay.

6. Housekeeping did not clean well. After requesting a room clean, by day four, there were rings forming in the toilet because it had not been cleaned properly. They also did not vacuum regularly, and all the floors are carpeted.

The only positive aspect of my stay was that the outdoor grounds were well kept and very nice.

Regrettably, I will not stay heled as adults-only

This beautiful hotel would benefit from having a ‘Scottish ‘theme to it . Obviously this is just a personal view, but its attempt to modernise has removed the authentic character of the building.
The dining room felt rather like a school dining room with tables lined up in exact straight rows. No table cloths, no curtains, just blinds which made the room very noisy & rather unwelcoming.

The location is great, and the food and service are excellent. However, the accommodations near the top of the resort have extremely thin walls and floors. As a result, I couldn't get a good night's sleep throughout the week. Additionally, it would have been helpful to know in advance that the spa and pool were closed when I made the booking.

We had a good stay. The food was excellent, really impressive. The views are excellent and the hotel was ok. I really expected more to be honest. Just a standard hotel. No air con so the room
was absolutely toasting. Really uncomfortable during the night. No fridge in the room either. With such an amazing location I was surprised that there was no paths for a walk around to see the views. No pavements to walk on at all just the road. Overall a bit dated hotel with cracking food and service.

Rooms extremely tired and refreshed on a budget.

Didn’t pay a lot for this trip which is very lucky. Classic room is a typical budget job with some new tiles on a very old bathroom, issues with seals in the room, very chipped furniture and scuffed walls. Very dated and poor condition. No hot water in bathroom in the morning and battery cover missing off remote and could not turn TV off, had to wait for it to go on standby on its own. To top it off, went to check out and no staff anywhere so could event raise the issues! First time staying in a 4 star hotel for £70 feeling like it was £70 overpriced. Truly horrible experience.

Booked this soley to use the spa to be told after booking the facilitates were being refurbished i had to contact the hotel to find this out no one told me. The first room was dangerous a table not fit for purpose with a coffee machine on it and i had asd children with me if you looked at the table the wrong way it would have collapsed not to mention the beside tables NOT fit for purpose, i was then moved room to find the lamp on the beside table snapped shade hanging off bathroom sink all cracked shower head and holder covered in green mildew i had given up by this point slept and left as early as i could for the price this is nothing short of a disgrace ive stayed in better travel lodges for 29 quid the only positive thing i have to say is how lovely natalie on reception was a credit to the gleddoch just a shame that what i actually paid for i didnt get and the disrepair and cleanliness in the rooms is beyond me had to move the bed to get one of my wee boys and very apparent they hadnt been moved to clean under them probably since the beds where put there absolutely disgusting and other peoples belongings absolutely shocking

Booked the executive room as a romantic escape from chaotic work shedules. Despite this the room was smaller than expected, had 2 beds pushed together as opposed to the king advertised, lacked any elemis toiletries, did not have a view of the clyde estuary or the golf course & did not have a bath. I am still left clueless as to what features of an executive room were provided. Tried to highlight this to reception after checking in, however was informed it was an executive room despite my concerns. The receptionist then glared at me until i walked away.
In addition to this I had an allergic reaction the entire time I was in the stuffy room. I have few common allergies. One being dustmites…
The common areas were dirty with dried grass & dead bugs on the floor walking up to breakfast. The decor tired looking (peeling wallpaper & crack's) with a cheap looking painted facelift.
Nothing was clean on closer inspection (around the pool had had a bare minimum effort mop missing all the nooks and crannies, bins in pool toilets had dried blood smeared down them).
On the other hand, the spa was excellent & breakfast & waiting staff were lovely. :)

Service was pretty poor ( not from staff though), no access to outdoor areas or bar service on a hot summer day as the hotel was hosting a major football team and these areas were reserved for the sole use of the football players. We and other guests were advised that most of the bar / outside areas were not open until 5pm. This was for a special birthday gift and was so disappointing as this is an expensive hotel to stay in. Staff were mostly understanding and apologetic but we felt that the football team were definitely viewed as more important than we were. Not a good experience. Manager took a bit off the bill which was fine but I would rather have enjoyed the experience and service we had expected.

Not a nice experience. Room was very very hot. Ran the fan and had windows open all night and we were both sweating. Room service took 30 minutes to deliver two desserts which had obviously been made way before delivery as ice cream was almost completely melted making the dessert soggy. We then waited an additional 10 minutes for the coke and lemonade to be delivered (all ordered at the same time). Did manicures at the spa and they put us in a room where they did our nails over a massage chair. At one point they used a box of tissues to dry my friends nails and we both received different services and messily painted nails. They were drilling while we swam in the pool which was very loud, as well as banging walls with what I can assume were hammers behind us while we received spa services. For the price and star level of this hotel we were really uncomfortable and disappointed. However, staff were all friendly - the only good thing I can say about it.

Good staff and good place to stay

At in superb grounds and a golf course, as you drive up the long entrance road and look at the view over the Firth of Clyde you will be delighted. Checkin was quick and the team there extremely helpful. Comfortable room and bed only thing missing is air conditioning as it was a warm night. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with plenty of choice. Due to the amount of stairs and no lift (elevator for the Americans) to get to the rooms I suspect it’s not accessible to all but there may be rooms on the ground floor which are. All in all a good place to stay and the staff are excellent.

Friendly staff, access to room convoluted and already showing heavy use. Room clean but partially worn, very basic. No fridge. Access to airport is superior!! Breakfast buffet is a large selection. If you are into Spa environments,
Spa would be a overstatement for a pool, a worn cold and wet Fin-Sauna, a steam room. Showers can not adjust, change rooms are with lockers, only one towel per guest (which explains the smelly wet Sauna).

Disappointing

Very disappointing. At over £600 for two nights, we expected much more.
The room itself was quite nice at first, but there was a wedding on directly below us until 1am. There is absolutely no soundproofing and loud was an understatement. We were not informed of this beforehand. The complimentary shower gel etc was also half used/ in tiny bottles and not enough for one shower. Spa facilities were average and very busy and the changing room was also quite dirty at around 6pm when we used it. The restaurant is quite pricy and the quality of food didn’t justify the cost. The restaurant staff however were all lovely. The evening receptionists were quite ambivalent and the level of service was not fitting of a high-end hotel. The management the next day were however quite helpful and offered a small refund.
First time we’ve ever complained after a hotel stay. We’ve left very disappointed indeed. The hotel has the potential to be fantastic, but it doesn’t live up to that.

Booked this hotel for one night. On arrival there was no tables available until 10.30pm in the evening so had to order room service. Food arrived from room service with items missing and as it took 15 minutes to bring the missing items the dinner was cold by the time it all arrived. Had little time in the pool due to all the fuss with dinner.

Morning of our stay the pool was shut again. Place has majorly gone down hill and terrible we were offered no refunds or discounts.

There was a leek in the room and water coming in through the balcony door.

Lazy staff at pool area

The hotel overall is nice and the grounds are lovely but I booked this particular hotel to enjoy the pool/spa area.

Unfortunately there was a large group of young adults (average age 22-25) who primarily took over all of the facilities. There were around 15 of them who took it in turns to stay in the hot tub/steam room and sauna for a 50 minute period straight meaning no other guest got a chance to enjoy these facilities.

There were signs saying you couldnt sit in the hot tub whilst it was off yet this group didnt seem to care and even though a staff member came into the area twice, they weren't told otherwise.

At one point 2 of the youngster became quite obviously aroused with one another, giving the rest of the guests a pretty vulgar show. Again- no staff there to do anything about it.

Apart from that experience the rest of the stay was nice.

My wife and I were in room 43 and because of Air Conditioning Units outside our bedroom window we did not sleep due to the noise of them. The room wasn’t cheap and this spoilt our stay.

Would go back but...

Great stay, lovely hotel. Restaurant was a bit pricey though, we ordered room service the first night and it came half an hour later. £18 for a cold cheese burger that was covered in caramelised onion (menu didn't state it would be). Television in the room was very old, no netflix or on demand services. We didn't go to lie around watching TV but it would of been nice to have the option of watching a movie. Other than that great stay and lovely location

Nice location but nothing special.

This hotel is in a good location with views over the Clyde to the hills beyond. However the hotel need some urgent attention, the entrance and other areas of the hotel need a coat of pain and/or maintenance work, other areas of the hotel need cleaning especially the carpets.
In the renovated parts of the hotel the decor is way over the top.
The spa / pool area could also benefit from updating.
This is not a four star hotel in my estimation.

It wpuld have been a 5 stars if it would have had a lift. There are lots of stairs and it,'s not cool to drag your suitcase along. I just cannot understand a Hugh spec hotel without a lift
