Really an awesome location but the absolute highlight is the incredible staff. Just made everything an absolute pleasure and you’re just a short couple blocks to the very lively Strand which was a lot of fun. This was our first trip to Galveston and I wouldn’t consider anywhere else.

I wish there was a pool, but there is a gym, 3 dining options: fa rooftop bar, a bar/restaurant, and a cafe, and several other
great things about this space. It was built in 1887 and actually used to be a brothel in the late 1800s to my understanding.
The reason I did not give 5 stars for service was because I was struggling with my bags at the door and the bellhop was standing there on his phone not paying attention. I had to ask him if there was a button to push to open the doors. He did eventually hold the door for me, though.

This is the first time I have stayed in this hotel, although I have spent several visits on the rooftop bar or just hanging out in the lobby with my puppy, working on Art. My mom and I stayed here after returning from a 4 day cruise to Cozumel. We loved the hardwood floors, the high ceilings, the large flatscreen tv. The only small complaint I have is that we were unable to login to our streaming accounts from the TV or chromecast it from my phone. The gentleman at the front desk spent about 30 minutes trying to fix it. It worked for a little bit, but then froze up. He did put in a work order to get it fixed the next day. The cafe workers were so friendly and complimentary. Also, since I have visited the public areas so many times with my white Husky named Jasper, everyone at the hotel knows us. When we come back, the bellhop usually holds the door and says, “Welcome Back!”.

Fantastic! Excellent service front check in to check out, cafe and bar were wonderful! The room was beautiful and spacious and the hotel was close to walk to everything. This is now our favorite hotel on the island. We’re already planning our next stay!

Nice hotel, hyper expensive & poorly managed:
1. Rude and unfriendly staff, including the front desk, café, and our housekeeper. Notable exceptions was Nick and maintenance staff;
2. I booked our room one month before arrival and agreed to the price of over $600 per day, bc we were part of another party. We had three rooms total. The other party had 2 huge suites at the same price across the street. However, after checking in, I discovered that three days after we checked out, the room rates were no longer $600 a day but rather $189 a day and/or also $264 a day. This is de facto is price gouging!!
Furthermore. our room was very small, had poor lighting in the room and bathroom and the TV didn’t work properly;
3. Please be aware that the valet charges will not be included in the hotel bill and you have to pay separately;
In conclusion, we are tired of being overcharged by these large hotel chains with local management. We’re no fools. We’ll never be returning to the Tremont or Galveston! Our rooms were more expensive than Las Vegas, New York City, or most of Europe.
Furthermore, I’m contacting the Marriott directly.

When checking in to the hotel the valley/bellman were having communication issues. It took a very long time with me even having to go back and forth from the valet station and hotel. The valet/bellman were helter skelter with luggage carts. Luckily there was a Galveston police officer to calm escalating tensions at the valet station that was caused by the chaos.
The hotel has lost its charm with the remodel by Marriot. The remodel in the bar reception area is more closed off and appears more confined. The antiques and vintage accessories were gone in the room and the room layout didn’t flow well. The closet was difficult to use it was long with no depth and the door was located at one end of the closet causing you to removes clothes in front of the door and walk in the closet to get to the clothes at the other end.
The bathroom was poorly lighted to the point that putting on makeup was impossible at the sink area no lighted vanity was available the brightest light was over tub. You had to sit on edge of the tub and place the vanity mirror on the toilet tank which was much better but still inadequate lighting. The bathtub was resurfaced during the last remodel and is now flaking off and the inner shower curtain was too short and the outer curtain had to be placed in the tub to keep water splashing out of the tub.
I expected a room with no issues and a disappointment with no comfort services such as turn down with the rates charged to guest. The value was not there.

fyi, the room was little dusty but once we mentioned to the front desk they sent up the cleaning staff to clean the area for us....and......yes the staff was very attentive to our request BUT the bell boy took amazing care of our belongings... the valet was johnnie on the spot with our cars!.....

Reserved a one bedroom king suite which showed pictures of a one bedroom king suite from hotel. Upon check in we had to go a different building and it wasn’t a one bedroom (no door on the bedroom and walls didn’t even go up to ceiling) - more of a 1 star type hostel stay or studio type apartment. Doors were missing from 3 closets. Terrible experience. Booked and paid for a 3.5 to 4 star hotel, that’s the photos shown, and then got a 1 star dump.

The location was great—within walking distance to terminal 25 of the port. The customer service desk employees were friendly. The suite was clean. We were on the second floor and it sounded like there was a herd of elephants above us. I’m not sure how people can make that much noise, especially early in the morning. What was worse was that the master bedroom overlooked the dumpster and an alley. The wind was especially strong and ALL NIGHT long the fence gate to the dumpster slammed and hit from one side to the other. Someone desperately needs to repair the gate and make sure it’s locked/closed so the wind isn’t hitting it. We decided to eat breakfast in the restaurant in the lobby. The line was long and the seating was very limited, so we chose to get our order to go thinking it would be quicker. However, we waited 25 min. for our food. The hotel is cool, but our experience with 0 sleep really impacted our stay.

I stayed at the Tremont because I wanted to stay within walk in distance of the Polar Express. I booked a suite. I did valet so I do not know about other parking options.

Pros:
1. Check in was easy.
2. The room was huge. Plenty of space in living area. Bedroom has plenty of room. Bathroom is big and has all toiletry necessities.
3. Within walking distance of shopping and dining.
4. Kid friendly.

Cons:
1. Food at the restaurant in lobby was horrible.

Room was next to the elevator. Got no sleep. Hotel would not move us.All night we heard a 100 year old elevator burrrrrrre. No waitress service in bar. Staff was not very friendly. For $450 a night I expected a lot more. Stay clear.

We’ve always loved staying here. It’s a beautiful hotel and great location. I do have to say the service was lacking from the start on this stay. The valet was visiting with 2 other employees on arrival and then got on his phone. We started unloading. He finally came after we were unloaded, asking for check-in info and never offered assistance, a cart or anything. Upon checking in the guy at the reception desk seemed bothered that I’d booked through a “3rd party” and told me he had to fix something in the booking because of it. After he finished checking us in, he repeated his issue of having to make a correction on his end because the “3rd party” hadn’t done something correctly. I felt it wasn’t necessary to complain to me about it but rather just do it and a welcome would have been nice. It was very off putting. upon ordering breakfast for room service the menu has no option at all to order drinks with your meal, so i called to find out what to do. The lady didn’t know and seemed unaware there wasn’t a way to order. I asked if I could add 2 orange juices to the order we were submitting over the phone. she seemed bothered but said ok. We received 1 orange juice but was charged for 2.

The new apartment was a delightful surprise. Across the street from the main hotel. The rooftop cocktail lounge is a delightful addition.
