Breakfast was excellent with a lot of choices. Beds were comfortable. Pool was ok. Staff very friendly & helpful. Big shopping mall near hotel. Town close by but need transport to get around town & beaches in vicinity. Quiet places not many tourists. Would stay again.

קיבלנו חדר מסריח שלשהות בו הרגיש כמו להיות בשירותים ציבוריים במדינת עולם שלישי.
אנשי הקבלה הבינו ברוב טובם שהחדר לא ראוי ללינת לילה ומאחר והמלון היה בתפוסה מלאה,
לצערנו רק בחצות אישרו החזר מלא על התשלום ועזרו לחפש לנו מלון אחר. לעולם לא נתארח שוב או שנמליץ לחברנו להתארח שם.
לא קיבלנו אפילו שיחת התנצלות מטעם המלון על הטירטור שנאלצנו לעבור באמצע הלילה. ממש בושה וחרפה.
היינו במשך 15 ימים בפורטוגל ונהננו מהמלונות, זה היה הליחה האחרון והחוויה הנוראית הזאת השאירה טעם מר לכל החופשה.
כמה חבל.

Novotel was a plesent stay, the rooms were clean and the pool was a nice feature to have to entertain my child. The food was of good quality, however not a huge selection and childrens food was very limited. The only criticism i have would be the prices of the drinks are a little steep and there is no indication on check in regarding charges for the mini bar in the room. Apart from these we had a plesent stay

Comfortable hotel in convenient location

The Setubal Novotel is situated in an easy to find, convenient location near both the highway and the centre. It has a large car park which always has plenty of spaces, the central space of the hotel contains the reception area, bar and restaurant. On this occasion we had some trainees on reception so check-in took a little longer than usual but still fine. The hotel has a gym room with good equipment and air conditioning and outside there is a pool, be aware however that it is more of a holiday pool as one end is very shallow for kids paddling (~2 foot) so not really suitable for any serious swimming! The bar and restaurant is always managed well with the staff giving great service throughout the day, the food is fine although we usually head to the waterfront for evenign dinner. The rooms are comfortable and clean with plenty of space. I have stayed here multiple times now and it is always delivers, can recommend to other business travellers.

Nice hotel with good location

We (couple and 19months son) spent 2 nights at this hotel. The staff are great and really welcoming. The facilities in the main entrance / hall are modern, vibrant and welcoming. The children’s area is a bonus for children of all ages. Breakfast is was really good and with good healthy variety. We didn’t use the pool as the weather didn’t allow but facilities around pool looked nice. The hotel well located in SETUBAL and just opposite a shopping mall so you can walk if you want doing any shopping. The downside is definitely the car park that is a bonus as it is big and private, but it needs work as the pavement is in bad condition. The other downside is the room decoration that is quite dated, however mostly remains in good condition and beds were comfortable. However comparing to similar hotels, the room decoration needs updating. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it.

Room they gave us was dirty. Hair balls from last guest was all over the bathroom. 2nd room had the tub completely stopped up, and the toilet seat was not attached. First receptionist was new and wouldn't do anything. The 2nd receptionist handled changing rooms, but the 2nd room was worse. The breakfast was large and warm.

Disable access

Although the Hotel publicizes that it has two rooms for disable people this is not entirely true. The designated rooms have the disable alarm and the wall handles to access toilet and bath, but it does not have a walk on shower.

The existing bathtub is too height for my sister to jump into without assistance.

The staff was wonderful. Although not specialist the cleaning team decided to help each day to help my sister into and out from the bathtub.

Check-in was quick and efficient, in fact all the staff were very attentive and pleasent to deal with. Their knowledge of the area was good and they spoke excellent English. Room was as expected , the pool area was clean and tidy with free towels. The food we had, especially the evening buffet was very nice and worth the cost. Only possible problem was the location could be a bit remote for some people. It was a good 25-30 min walk to Praca do Bocage and Setubal railway station was a 10min walk away, but once you get your bearings, the hotel is easy to find. Walking between the hotel and the main area of Setubal was safe to do - we had no issues 2 adults over 50 and a teenage girl'
Overall would definitely return

From the reception, to the bar staff, to the restaurant staff, they are so unfriendly, borderline rude. Only the housekeeeping staff I met seemed to be nice. I really had a feeling they didnt like the British here. I ordered a beer with a colleague and sat at the bar. Then a Portugese guy came and ordered a beer, he was given a plate of chips to snack on. This happened twice with others. Then I ordered a steak. I was a bit miffed that when it came it seemed very small. Again, a Portugese guy on the next table got his, the same meal... well it was the same apart from being twice the size. It was as iff they had halved one for me and my colleague. He also got served the wine that was supposed to come with it whilst I had to ask three times...Paranoid maybe, but I wont stay here again.

Very clean hotel and friendly staff

Hotel staff at the reception were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is ok but in need of modernisation. The hotel maids were very professional and polite and my room was cleaned daily. One thing I will like to point out is that when I went to the reception to request for an iron to use I was told that they were all out as other guests were using them and through out my 3 nights stay in the hotel I was not able to get an iron.

Downside:The wifi is non existent in rooms and only really works in the hotel reception.Like most hotels in the region it would be better to have a wifi link that works and charge rather than free and does not work! Upside is the range of English speaking tv stations available.

Very suitable for families and those with a car

Everything did work well. Staff helpful and nice, room space OK for the family of 4 persons. My most high notification is getting the breakfast - wider and tastier choice than in many hotels of similar rating. X-Box games for the kids are a bonus as well. Location on the outskirts of city could be hard to find without GPS, on the other hand large parking area for the cars is definitely the positive side

The hotel needs an overall refurbishment, the room smelled of wet dog and there were just two sockets to use, one of them already occupied by something else. The restaurant works only in the evening and if you are there over a weekend you should plan ahead to take a taxi and visit the city centre for food (5 euros)

Novotel Setubal? Och Aye!! Brilliant!!

My family (six) had the most enjoyable vacation in Portugal without ever needing to go to the usual Algarve destinations. Setubal is an interesting large town and ideally situated at the cost to offer all the benefits of a coastal resort - except in a much less commercial/exploitative fashion. The best part was the excellent service and care we received at the Novotel (with the obvious advantage of the swimming pool facilities). The management and staff were simply outstanding and complimented the hotel and it facilities to the highest level. Although the accomodation suites are needing upgraded this place is Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay, main areas of hotel beautiful , pool area was great, nice areas to sit around, breakfast was fine, coffee a bit on the cool side, but other that that it was great, the bed room could do with a make over, to bring to the standard of the main lobby/ restaurant area, also free wi Fi was great all around the hotel, I would go back again.

The hotel has a very nice big pool and bar and small gym. Taxis would arrive very quickly after I asked for one in reception. The people working reception were very nice and polite. I was impressed. The only thing I did not like, was the location, it is a bit farther from centre of town. I had no car. You need your own car or pay about 8/9 Euros for taxi ride. However, there is a nice big mall and supermarket close to hotel that I would never have found in the centre. The rooms not very luxurious but good for price.

Hotel Novotel Setubal Portugal 2013

My four teenage children rated a swim pool high on their list of must haves. We had a great experience in 2010 and this time it was even better. The entrance lobby/reception, dining area, bar and lounge have been redecorated and refurbished as have the poolside facilities, all to a high standard - thus making all the time spent away from the living/accommodation suites a high quality affair. The care and attention from the staff was beyond reproach and certainly the best seen so far from our experiences elsewhere (in the UK for example). The Breakfast option is excellent value and the evening Buffet style dinner was fresh, tasty and varied with a traditional Portuguese touch. Cleanliness was high standard.Parking facilities were excellent.The hotel management were outstanding and any problems were dealt with swiftly and with a smile! I would rate this hotel 10/10 for families (and 7/10 for couples wanting peace and quiet during vacation time - unless they are used to \"family life\"). The rooms need upgrading and this is due to happen soon.Outdoor Swimming pool was aprox 15m with a shallow and deep end and had excellent facilities(deck chairs, tables, sun shades, clean towels, bar/snack service, fresh water showers, toilets and changing rooms - and a kiddies pool). There Is an excellent Mini Gym. Suffice to say,my teenage family never felt the need to leave the hotel for long except to shop at s nearby mall!

Das Gastronomische Angebot erinnerte mehr an Convinience - Food.
Das Zimmer - auch wenn ein Standardzimmer gebucht wurde - sollte nicht ein Dutzend Klimageräte der anderen Zimmer direkt vor dem Fenster haben. Diese standen auf einem Anbau mit Flachdach. Wir konnten dadurch das Fenster nachts nicht öffnen. Ein Zimmertausch war offenbar nicht möglich.
Schade an der Stelle, denn ich brauche zukünftig regelmäßig Aufenthalte dort und werde das Hotel aus diesem Grund nicht mehr buchen.
Positiv ist die Außenanlage mit Pool, die trotz recht zentraler Lage zur Hauptstraße und Autobahn sehr ruhig war und zum Entspannen genutzt werden kann.

Nous avons passé une nuit en famille à 3. A notre arrivée dans la chambre, le lit canapé n'était pas dépliée. Nous l'avons fait nous même. Mis à part cela, notre séjour c'est bien passé. Le petit déjeuner est excellent.: un large choix de bonne qualité. La chambre était propre, la literie d'assez bonne qualité et insonorisée. Tout le personnel était charmant et à notre écoute. L'hôtel est proche de nombreux commerces.

Le personnel est très accueillant, les chambres sont confortables, il y a une belle piscine. Stationnements sur place et petits déjeuners inclus.
Le seul point négatif pour nous, il y a beaucoup trop d’enfants! On se demande parfois si nous sommes à l’hôtel ou à un camp de vacances!

Es un poco caro la verdad, pero hay que decir que está muy bien. El personal atiende muy bien, la habitación justita pero bastante bien. El gimnasio es increíble y aunque es pequeñito está muy bien cuidado, y no lo cierran. Nunca puedes ir a la hora que tú quieras. El desayuno me encantó. Está situado en una zona con muchos supermercados cerca.

Trevlig personal, speciellt i restaurangen. Fint hotell generellt med spel o lek för barnen o anpassad barnmeny i restaurgen. Ni skulle behöva fixa lite detaljer i rummen för att hålla kvaliteten ni vill. Tex de bruna noppriga filtarna som bäddas som täcken till bäddsofforna, släng dem och använd samma täcke som till sängarna. Lite slitna detaljer i rummet o badrummet som skulle kunna höja helhetsupplevelsen också så som lister.

Saknade balkong/altan men sov endast en natt så det var helt ok för priset.

Desagradáveis surpresas: ar-condicionado e TV

O hotel é muito bom, café da manhã ( pequeno almoço) muito bom, área de lazer maravilhosa, muito verde, acomodação satisfatória, porém, dois pontos nos surpreenderam NEGATIVAMENTE: ar-condicionado PRATICAMENTE sem funcionar, o que prejudicou conpletamente nosso descanso e o tipo de TV é inadmissivel para os tempos atuais: tamanho da tela (ecrã) e LCD com uma péssima qualidade de imagem.
