Clean spacious rooms, good staff, and decent breakfast. Hotel was a bit run down and it's definitely not a five star hotel. Very close to the ferry to Setabul which was very convenient. The beach was extremely beautiful. The gym was very basic, but the pool was great.

Room was amazing, bed so comfy and unreal views of the pool and ocean.

Booked Troia Design Hotel for 2 nights, the hotel property is gorgeous, (aside from mildly challenging to find the entrance). Room was quiet, nicely finished, with a great bathroom/shower. Air conditioning works as intended (important in Portugal in July) staff was helpful. Highly recommend the Blue & Green Design Hotel in Troia!

Recommend - Would Stay Again

This is a nice hotel and very enjoyable for a short stay. There is lots to do in the area. We went on a couples holiday, but equally the whole family would have enjoyed it. Definitely would stay again.

The location is excellent, but the hotel itself is neglected.
The pool area is full of rust, and there is moss on the stairs.

The staff is very disrespectful to customers in the way they speak
except for the cleaning and restaurant staff, who are very nice.

It’s a very clean and modern hotel. It’s kind of weird how dark it is and I was told it was designed that way. I like dark restaurants and hotels that aren’t super bright but this is kind of spooky dark. Restaurant food was very mediocre and the menu was extremely limited. I assume it’s that way due to it being the off season. Staff was nice but not very helpful or forthcoming about the room, eating options, etc. you may want to try it during the “ seaso@ as the entire town was deserted!

Top stay in beautiful location

We had a fab stay in an apartment in the hotel. Loved the pool and service and had a wonderful time.

The area is so stunning - views to the ocean and bay and the highlight was a boat trip to see the dolphins in the bay.

Friendly and helpful staff but sometimes the information received was not correct. Breakfast was out of this world!
Some areas of the facility were smelly and you could see and feel the outdated technology and furniture.

All the staff was very friendly and professional.
The room was clean, spacious and with an amazing view to the swimming pool/beach and mountain.
The only thing I would suggest is the breakfast could be better.

Excellent spa , breakfast was ok , dinner wasn’t great . Tv didn’t work in the apartment living room ,blackout curtain was hanging off one end , no bottle opener for mini bar or spoons for the coffee machine - reported it and was assured things would be rectified but when we left two days later apart from tv which worked intermittently things still hadn’t been done . They were all minor problems and had a pleasant stay . November not the time to visit really but imagine it’s a lovely beach holiday resort .

Great value for money

Location of the hotel was great (my meeting was 2 minutes walk away). The hotel is located on a busy road which is loud until 11pm and gets loud again from 5am.
Check in is self service and quick, funky key cards that don’t get blanked when next to your phone.

My hotel room was modern with a lovely shower and beautifully smelling products such as shower gel (I wish I had space in my suitcase to purchase). The bed was hard but not a disaster, the room was like a sauna though. The hotel have the air con turned off from October leaving you have the window open which then makes the room super loud. I ended up taking the duvet out of the cover and sleep with just the sheet. What I did notice then was the duvet was covered in stains, hotel should purchase duvet protection covers. Overall great value for money and I can’t wait for Ruby hotels to come in London!

I absolutely loved this hotel! Staff was ever helpful, the check-in was amazing with full explanations without taking up too much time. Breakfast was divine every day with a vast selection of food, coffees, etc. The view was simply breathtaking! Will definitely return.

Pay attention to your bathrooms - they make a big

The hotel is quite nice but our room was very small with a cramped bathroom with a shower that tended to leak into the room which is a big detraction for me. The facilities were very nice and the service from the staff at breakfast and the pool was great. If the room itself had been better it would have been perfect. The location just by the beach and marina is excellent. Generally it was a lovely stay.

Nice hotel, but I'd stick with Comporta over Troia

We stayed at Troia Design Hotel to be close to Comporta. We wish we'd stayed in Comporta. The Troia community is newly built, immaculately landscaped and lacking soul. The hotel and restaurants and casino etc around it are all fairly desolate.

A huge wow!

This hotel is situated on point overlooking the water that is absolutely breathtaking! There where stork nests all around with storks flying overhead feeding their babies! The hotel is a little austere when you drive up but once you get inside it will take your breath away! Very very modern with massive views The bathroom in the middle of the room has glass sliding doors which you can slide back this making the bathroom part of the bedroom if you wish... it is really quite spectacular! The toilet is a separate room with its own closing door so that's cleverly private. The spa is amazing with an incredible huge heated pool with all kinds of jets all around the pool to massage your back The steam room was the best I've ever been in huge high ceiling and marble room. Best breakfast I have ever had in any 5star hotel! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a memorable vacation in a glorious spot with great food and spa!

Very Nice hotel, but with a poor entertainment program for the new year evening. None of you are under 13 years!

This was our favorite stay in Portugal. The hotel had the nicest staff and the most comfortable beds. Tróia is beautiful and quiet compared to other beach towns in Portugal. There are a few shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance, but if your looking for nightlife or big city convenience this may not be for you.

Superb hotel

We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. After making our booking I emailed them to ask for a double bed, not twin, this request was granted strait away.
The superior room was exactly that, loads of space to move around, well equipped and loads of wardrobe and storage space.
There was a large, very comfortable bed, my wife and I both had a great nights sleep, and by choosing a sea view we had a magnificent view of the inlet and Setubal across the water from our huge patio window and from our huge balcony.
The location is a five minute walk from the ferry across to Setubal and right on the Marina, and a short walk to the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay, and will definately be returning.

Off season not really a 5 Star hotel, more like a 3. Indoor pool was decrepid and in need of serious maintenance. Half the SPA was closed for \"Upgrades\". The whole place could do with a good clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was a great experience. The hotel stay was very good overall. Due to the good location we managed to do a lot in the region. The long stretchy beaches are great for long walks. We ate great food in Comporta village in this amazing traditional restaurant \"Sao Joao\". This hotel has great views into the \"Estuario do Sado\" river and the Atlantic Sea. Great location if you want to do the Dolphin (Roazes do Sado) trip. You literally came out of the hotel and board the catamaran. The breakfast is also great, check the delicious varied fruit and different cakes every day. Free car park.
Avoid going to the restaurants by the marina. The food is not good.

Bit disappointing but good overall

Located just a few blocks away from the Troia catamaran pier, the Design Hotel is the most convenient place to stay if you're planning to go back and forth to the mainland. However, because of that proximity, the beaches closest to the hotel (about a 5-10 minute walk from the property) are also the most crowded, and palapas cost about 15 euro to rent. The restaurants in the area (there are quite a few to choose from right next to the hotel) also leave a lot to be desired. Every place we tried served sub-par, drab eats that were disappointing compared to the fresh and delicious seafood that can be found right across the river on the Setubal waterfront.

When we arrived at the room, I was a bit sad to see that it really didn't look much like the photos at all. All of the photos depict room with a modern bathroom encased in glass, giving the space a light and airy feel. Our bathroom was completely enclosed behind a wooden wall, which was perfectly fine, but it did not look like the photos. The overall feel of the room was still nice but a bit dingy. Not what I expected from the pics and reviews. Our air conditioning also did not work (on a 90-degree day), so we had to call someone to come fix it. We were also told that our bags would be delivered to the room right away, but had to call the front desk after 45 minutes of non-delivery to remind them. My last annoyance was that the coffee maker was finicky and worked only when it wanted to work.

We had a great week in Troia. The hotel is modern and we'll equipped. The staff were all excellent and professional. It was nice to be in a location where so many other Portuguese were on holidays. Used the pool daily and had no issues getting loungers with umbrella and access to the pool. Breakfast was a treat every morning,definitely a higher standard than most in Portugal. Loved our room with a view over to Setubal, Arrabida Hills and local beach/marina. The spa area was modern, clean, relaxing and never crowded. Loads of underground parking provided by the hotel. Would recommend this hotel

Resort lacked facilities for this length of stay with limited good restaurants. Ferry service to Setubal offered much needed shops & restaurants.
Hotel food offered poor options apart from breakfast which was excellent. Refused entry to one hotel restaurant as not half board ??

Portugal does Carribean (aka Troia)

Off season so very quiet. Beautiful beach. Walk for miles. Hotel very funky. Good breakfast. Free carparking. Ferry over with car but you can return as foot passenger to Sebutal for €6.50. Only a few restaurants open at this time of year ... but fun to head back to Sebutal ... only takes about 15mins. Golf course good and not too challenging. Hotel gets a reduced fee.

Stunning suite, excellent hotel, great area

We stayed here for 2 nights with 3 children. Our suite was absolutely amazing--stunning really. The hotel staff was very courteous, the area is lovely. Be warned though, if you book a suite, check in time is 4pm (!!!) and if you show up any earlier, you'll wait and wait. We found, though, that it was really worth the wait. It's an awesome hotel.

Nice Hotel, but not a five star hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable, but the hotel services not that great. The spa is supposed to be a main attraction of the hotel, but is nothing special at all,just a warm pool and a sauna, the steam room seems not to be working for a while although we were told it is temporary. The outdoor pool area was very nice, although the pool was a bit small. The pool café is the only place in troia where the price/quality ratio for food is acceptable! Overall a nice stay, but I won't be coming back.

We have stayed many times at this hotel and area, exceptional! Amazing childrens facilities and kids club - more like entertainers at a party. Nice local beaches but also worth venturing to Comporta and Pego beaches which are about a 20 minute car trip. Marina by the hotel has good cafes and shops. Hotel spa is a great facility and have started to offer yoga, check out the indoor pool and steam room. Premium suites are very spacious.

Gorgeous hotel with great views.
Close to everything with friendly staff. Only minor issue was lack of a kettle in the room, but that's just me being British. Troia is a beautiful place although not that much to do if you don't like sitting on the beach. Plenty of restaurants along the marina which are reasonably priced.

Upgraded to room with great view over inlet and across to Setubal from balcony. Included breakfast was bountiful and good quality. Room was generously proportioned and comfortable. While hotel is of sleek design there were many examples observed of \"style over substance\" with construction quality and finish being questionable.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The hotel is pretty nice, staff super friendly, good food, beach not too far, the spa is good (not the best but serves it´s purpose). For romance it´s a great place. You can see the native dolphins even from your balcony! We stayed 3 days and think it was too short!
