We stayed two nights here in late December. We really liked the warm breakfast. Also, we liked the central location! However, it was really surprising that hot water did not come out of the shower in the evening hours. We noted that to the receptionist as soon as we checked in, and we were told that we would have the same issue in another room and we needed to keep the water running longer. We kept the water running for more than 10 minutes, but still the water was lukewarm... actually on the cold side. The same issue continued on the second evening. However, hot water did come out in the morning hours although water pressure was very low. The hotel is noted for 5 stars, but in our opinion, this is barely a three star hotel at its current maintenance level. This issue needs to be fixed ASAP!

The half panel on the bathtub isn't enough to contain the shower water. Couldn't get the A/C to cool or dehumidify the room. The hallway was more comfortable.

I had a wonderful time staying here. The view for the breakfast buffet is amazing. I also enjoyed the cultural center across the street where I was able to see a play for 10 euros then walk over and have a nice dinner. The room was clean and modern and restful. The staff were excellent with everything I could possibly need. I will absolutely come back in the future.

The hotel & room was clean and room spacious. Very good pressure on shower but really the bath should be removed and just a shower tray - much safer. My only fault - and this is personal preference - is the bed was very hard and as such didnt sleep well. The breakfast was plentiful, good variety & mostly fresh. Overall good value for money, just a shame about the lack of sleep.

Ideally situated on the main street in Setubal, close to the attractions like the Fish Market, the baixa (city centre) and the Troia Ferry terminal (and next door to McDonalds if you don't want to try the local food!). Lovely views from the 5th floor breakfast room (with a generous buffet) and comfy clean rooms.

The room, which states city view, was looking on to a busy Avenida and the room was above a McDonalds restaurant where there are regular delivery bikes arriving and departing. So it is noisy. I could hear street music, perhaps from some local bars. So the windows are not sound proof.
This is my second time to stay at this hotel. The first time I had a single room. The bed was very uncomfortable. This time I booked a double room. Again, the beds and pillows were very firm and in my opinion highly uncomfortable.
There was no kettle or tea making facilities in the room, but reception kindly arranged to have a kettle sent up to the room. A kettle, 2 cups and some sugar promptly arrived, but no tea or coffee sachets! I had my own so I managed.
This hotel is a basic 3 star at best, in my opinion.
I did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that.
As with most Portugese hotels, the room was very clean.
I had booked for 2 nights. But I left after 1 night because my business in Setubal was finished and it didnt appeal to me to stay there for the second night, mostly because of the uncomfortable firm bed and pillows.
Firm beds may not be an issue for others.

The hotel is perfectly and conveniently located, and everything is super walkable.
We initially got a room with a window issue, so we asked to switch and the staff were able to put us in another room. We appreciated their expediency in accommodating the change. The staff were great.
The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the shower good, and there was very minimal outside noise, especially given the hotel faces a main street and park.
There's no parking but there is a large parking lot close by, which was an approx. 2-minute drive (and 5-minute walk) away that's associated with the theatre across the street. At the time of our stay (Mar 2024) it was €3 for 24 hours.

This is a basic hotel. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Hotel.com Gold members are not given the priority welcome as stated. Service is not standard as some staff are friendly and helpful and others are not. Breakfast is good with standard continental variety. I will not recommend for a long stay. My family had an uncomfortable stay.

All the employees were Superb, friendly, kind, respectful, very welcoming and always willing to help in any way possible to make your stay just wonderful. A country feel with a little extra excitement. A beautiful country feeling with amazing kind people.
The Portuguese people are so friendly and welcoming and willing to help in any way possible.
Setúbal is a wonderful place to stay at , away from the crazy Lisboa, Lisboa is Beautiful but the country feel of Setúbal is to die for. The port of Setúbal is 2 blocks away, beautiful walk. Fabio at Luna hotel is a wonderful person . He went out of his way to make our stay memorable.
I will come back to Setúbal again

This was not a good experience. The hotel is old and outdated. We did not get a good nights sleep as the walls are so thin, you can hear everything in the rooms around you.

Loud noises of water pipes, and toilet flushing. You can hear the next room showering. Everything can be heard. It is so awful.

The bed was hard as a rock. The worst I have ever experienced. We had to ask for a mattress topper as it was so painful.

Only one iron/ironing board in the hotel, so they dont let you keep it in the room like other hotels allow you to do.

The air con was disabled on purpose as they consider the weather not warm enough to allow us to use it.

No tea/coffee making facilities. Cramped room. Not enough hangers in the wardrobe. Door key kept malfunctioning. They often don't replenish your bathroom shampoo or shower gels.

Reception staff were nice and friendly. But, not the staff in the breakfast room. The main waiter (tall thin man) was utterly miserable.

We had a room at the back of the hotel, away from the main road, but it was still noisy.

Wont stay here again. Truly awful.

Perfect hotel in middle of everything in Setubal

I stayed at the Luna Esperanca not just because the price was good, but had the best location for my needs in town. It is on the main avenue of Setubal, and ashort walking distance to the 2 music and event auditorums in town. I was pleasantly surprised the main square is right next to it with the main cathedral, as well as old town behind and tons of restaurants nearby. Pingo Doce, a fairly big supermarket is also a few minutes walk across the hotel. Check in was fast, very pleasant staff welcoming me. They are multilingual. Room was decent, had a refrigerator thankfully and had a very big bathroom with a window that opens for fresh air. Room was quiet as it faced an alleyway. Breakfast was included but I had to leave early morning by 7am so I was not able to experience it unfortunately. I will definitely book here again for next year's event. Of the places I have stayed in Setubal over the years for this event, this was by far the best location

Problems with air conditioning took 4 days to resolve. Shower broke so I was told to shower in a room witch was worse than the first. Water is not pressure balanced, so the temperature fluctuates a lot. Windows do not seal properly, so the noise from the avenue is considerable. We were moved to a better room but overall the experience was not good.

The hotel is located along a beautiful street, close to the water and near shops and restaurants. It is a 15 walk from the train station.
The staff were very helpful. We were able to check-in early. After we checked out, we were able to leave our bags with them while we hiked at a local park for several hours.

The internet was unsecured and Apple wouldn’t let me login unless I confirmed they were not at fault if I was hack, in a nutshell. One of my devices, Apple as well, wouldn’t allow me to regardless. Very disappointing. The rooms were 80’s style and fine.

This was the last day of a family trip through Portugal. Everything in Lisbon was completely booked or super high price. This hotel was on the other side of a reeeeealy long bridge but we had a car so it was ok to get there. The staff was super nice! The rooms were just normal rooms. Not over the top but comfortable. The breakfast was included and nice. Overall a good stay.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and spoke English. Location was excellent and close to great shops and restaurants in amongst the lane ways.
Unfortunately the Air Conditioning did not work and the rooms were quite warm. Great for winter but not for summer or early autumn when the weather is still warm. Although you could open a window any breeze when there was some was blocked by other buildings and the noise from the street didn't subside until around 1am. There were no tea & coffee making facilities in the room.

I requested three rooms with sea view and when my colleagues and myself arrived to check in we were allocated three rooms facing the rear of the hotel (very scruffy area), I asked to change to front facing rooms on higher floors
but the staff could not accommodate, saying they were all booked, but actually the hotel was almost empty and I found out that several floors are normally closed during low season. We were there one night only for business trip, if staying longer I would have changed hotels.
On the positive side, room was clean and the breakfast area did have a nice sea view and breakfast was nice.
If you want a good room ask for front facing room on 4th or 5th floor.

I thought that the hotel was easy to find and very comfortable. I liked that the wi-fi was free in the lobby. It would be nice if you could get wi-fi in the room, but at least it's not 5 Euros an hour like a lot of hotels. The hotel employees were generally very helpful in finding places around the city and had good suggestions. The breakfast was nice and it was free which made it even better. We had a nice view of the water and could see some of the big ships coming and going. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I also thought the surrounding neighborhood seemed safe and had quite a few cute little walking streets with little shops.
