We stayed two weeks at Tambua Sands Beach Resort on Fiji’s Coral Coast as an adults-only couples resort. The location is stunning—the protected lagoon, beach, and sunsets are spectacular. What impressed us most was the genuine warmth and friendliness of the local Fijian people. Resort gardening staff and housekeepers were outstanding—always smiling and helpful. Locals in the surrounding area were equally kind.
Rooms were decent and cozy, reasonably clean for beachfront (expect sand). Housekeeping excelled. Drawbacks: unnecessary extra twin bed, inconsistent bathroom light, stretching mats not allowed in room, daily WiFi resets, and no microwave to prepare your own food.
Dining was the biggest issue. The only nearby option was the resort restaurant, it serves mostly processed, greasy food. With wheat/egg allergies clearly stated, staff lacked training. A “safe” hamburger had egg in it which triggered my worst reaction—I was bedridden the entire second week. Vegetables washed in local water made half resort customers sick. Laundry returned smelling worse than when taken in. We left a night early due to illness but were still charged. Airport transfers exceeded local taxi prices.
The warm local staff and community shine, but the owner chooses processed foods over quality. Better allergy training, fresher non processed food options would transform this beautiful spot.
Great potential for a peaceful retreat. Recommend cautiously and only for those without dietary restrictions.

the individual units with air conditioning were great and the location is fine if you don't mind being 1-2 hrs from the action. I like it very much but it may not be the best for everyone so do your homework. the restaurant is average and not the type you expect for a resort experience. there are no nearby restaurants so unless you want to taxi $30 away or settle for a burger or mediocre fish dinner there are few alternatives. But to rest in a remote location on a beautiful beach and snorkel a wonderful area this is fine. I suggest shopping for some fine foods to have in your unit for your stay to treat yourself to during your stay.

This resort is a beautiful, quiet, near perfect place to relax, if you can overlook a few short comings. We stayed in the beachfront bure with plunge pool,
and I highly recommend it. The ocean is very calm, the waves crash about 100 yards onto the reef and very few waves reached the shore. There is coral and sea life everywhere. When the tide is high it is chest deep, good for swimming and kayaking, and when the tide is low, you can walk very far out and look at the sea life. The property is very well maintained and very natural with palm trees and coconuts lying every where. The staff can call you a car and it’s a short drive to nearby shopping and restaurants and the driver will wait in town until you are ready to head back. The short comings I mentioned are mostly the staff and the food. The staff means well and are very nice, but could do much better. For instance, it took three days of asking to get a tv remote. We were pretty disappointed in the food and the fact that between the waitresses and cooks, they often didn’t get our orders right. We bought some snacks in town and skipped a few meals at the restaurant. We also learned that the snacks on their menu were better than their main dishes. Having said all of this, we would definitely stay here again because we don’t let a few issues ruin a great stay. We loved that it wasn’t crowded and has no kids. It felt completely fine to sunbathe and swim at our bure with or without clothes. It’s a 90 minute ride to Nadi airprt

Being an adults only resort was a big benefit. The beach area was so pretty, great for swmming and snorkeling. Staff were great and friendly. Rooms were clean. It is far from Nadi so you need to arrange transport, i.e. car hire. Some of the cons: tour transport pick up/drop off may not be possible depending on where the tour leaving from (i.e. Nadi), food service at the resort needs improvement (i.e. overcooked meals, waiting times). Overall it was a nice place to relax and chill.

Bad: ocean bathing is clean and typical for area but you won’t see living coral along the shoreline. We were not there long enough to take the resort kayaks and snorkels out to where it probably is. About 200 yards I’d guess. That’s the end of the bad.. seriously.

Good:
Too long to list. Plenty of bula’s and most courteous staff. We arrived long before our check in time and they allowed us to relax and showed us where to park where the coconuts won’t hit your rental car.
Food is good and the small size of the resort makes it so nice (they have maybe 12 tables).
Sigatoka area is just far enough from the beaten trail that it is perfect. 2 full days with drinks and dinner was about $120 US dollars. Beyond reasonable.

Do:
Sigatoka river cruise. Pay front desk about 100 Fiji dollars (cash) and they arrange pickup and you pay the remainder at western style shop in Sigatoka (cards accepted). Beautiful lunch with kava in a village. They take precautions like using bottled water for the Kava so no issues. Eat everything, it is delicious. Must do, really.

Find a church, regardless of denomination, they’re there. All beautiful with Fijian twists. We went to a Catholic Church (our faith- go to St Ptr Chanel) and also enjoyed the Hindu temples and home markings as well as the Islamic call to prayer which we heard while touring the Sigatoka rugby ground with a friendly player walking home. Truly beautiful.

We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay at Tambua Sands. The grounds and pool are beautiful, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The bures are spacious and comfortable, and have an authentic Fijian feel. As it is an adult only setting, it is very quiet and relaxing, and you soon slip in to “Fiji time”! We will definitely return to Tambua Sands on our next stop in Fiji. Vinaka!

From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. Such a beautiful place to relax. Grounds are very clean and tidy. Everyone is super friendly. You will need a car if you want to go anywhere. There is nothing really around the place. Next village is about 7mins by car ride. Rooms are nice. Please make sure you put the \"clean my room\" sign in a crack between the glass and wood on the door. It will blow off then your room will not get cleaned. If you hang the sign on your door, the wind blows it off. I think they may need to invest in wooden signs for the doors or make a sliding sign the states quiet please or clean my room. Every night go to reception and ask for wifi password. Its lovely to have alittle chat aswell. Breakfast is very plain if you want a full breakfast with eggs and bacon it will cost you . They dont provide enough soap for your stay (we were there for 11 nights) and had to ask for supplies (soap, cream, conditioner, shower cap) conditioner never got filled up so we went to shops and bought our own. This place is very simple and very relaxing. Beautiful staff. One thing that confused us is when we settled the bill at checkout , they asked us if we could donate money to the hospital. We didnt as we were kind of stunned to be asked. Air-conditioning and fans in the room work well.their entertainment guy is funny and full of energy. Real asset to the hotel. Thankyou for having a beautiful place to relax.

Our beachfront bure was beautiful - great bedding, lovely outlook and an excellent shower. And the pool area is attractive with palms, loungers and pleasant views of the reef. But the main restaurant had zero atmosphere with glaring spotlights, dining tables and chairs coloured like a primary school classroom, and loud music playing on a tv (including US Christian fundamentalist singing during Sunday breakfast). The only place for a pre dinner drink felt like an airport waiting room with chairs facing away from the view. This area needs an upgrade to fit the “adult only” resort vibe. And given swimming is near impossible in the shallow waters of the Coral Coast, it would be nice to have more onshore activities for adults. Additional charges for everything from the TV remote, a community charity, a gluten free breakfast option, to giving you the room key!!!

The people at the resort were splendid - very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. Sadly the food was below par: expensive and mediocre. As the resort is out of any main area - one has to take an expensive cab to eat off the site. The resort is on a coral reef so swimming in the ocean is not an option but fortunately the pool is lovely. Annoyingly one had to get a new code for the wifi everyday. We would like to return to Figi but not at this resort.

I recently returned to Tambua Sands Resort earlier this month, my second visit, the first being 20 years ago and it was just as magical as I remembered.
The resort is small and intimate, with just 21 bures, giving it a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. I stayed in an ocean view bure, which was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. As a solo female traveller, I felt 100% safe at all times, both in the resort and exploring the surrounding area. The resort has a genuine “real Fiji” feel, with all local staff who make you feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive. Every team member introduces themselves and remembers your name, you’re never just a guest or a number here.
The food at the resort was very good, and for something special, I highly recommend taking a taxi to the Crab Shack for dinner, it’s very reasonably priced with amazing food and a great atmosphere.
What really makes Tambua Sands stand out is the people. I couldn’t possibly single out one staff member, from the front-of-house team, kitchen and bar staff, gardeners, activities and tour guides, to the security team and the amazing cleaning staff. Every single person worked together to create a truly welcoming and memorable stay.
If you’re looking for a small, authentic, and warm Fijian experience, Tambua Sands is the perfect choice. I will definitely return again.

The prices of the food and drinks were over the top expensive and not enough options for food. The same boring breakfast every day, coco pops, corn flakes, Weet bix, toast, and a small selection of fruit, concentrated juice, tea and coffee long life milk. We ended up eating out most nights and so did other guests. No atmosphere at the resort. I have stayed at the Warwick before and this place disappointed.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Tambua Sands Beach Resort, FIJI. Chris was a standout staff member, who was so helpful. We also appreciated Mere the maid and the chefs' food was amazing. Service at the bar was good too. The rooms were clean and enjoyable within a short walk to the beach. If I could add something, it might be a small gift ship, with basic travel supplies and maybe some t-shirts as a suggestion. Only issue, if it says Adults Only, it should always be adults only.

I was traveling alone. I had my trip extended a few days, so I booked Tambua Sands. Its a nice place for the price. There were a few staff members that were great; but, overall, I found it to be a disappointing experience, to say the least. They were pushy about using their taxi people, (which significantly overcharged,) and claimed it was in the name of safety. Meanwhile, I had a random stranger message me on Facebook since the night I got there. Given that I met several friends on my holiday, I thought it might have been a mutual friend at first. After trying to get information from me, to which I did not respond, he sent me a video, clearly showing me that he was right in front of my bure. I reported this, and was met by an awkward \"don't show this to anyone else. I will look into this further.\" Especially considering the \"security\" there, (nobody goes in or out without going through a gated entrance,) it was apparent that the staff seemed to know who he was. They assured me that they were investigating it. Since it was my last day in Fiji, they said they would continue to investigate and let me know the outcome. After arriving home, I received an email telling me that since I didn't actually tell him where I was, it was determined to be a \"coincidence\" and that the person had been \"educated on how to communicate with guests,\" It absolutely was not a coincidence. It left me with a very uneasy feeling, and knowing that they brushed it under the rug made it more unsettling.

I have been to Tambua Sands 3 times in the last so many years. I found personally that it was better when it was a Non Adults Only Resort. When the kids were there it seemed to be more lively. My husband and I are in our 60s but to us it was too quiet.

the view from the beachfront room is soooo lovely!
I loved sitting on our little balcony, reading a book and drinking coffee.
the room was clean, and comfortable, it was a little on the small side.
they definitely need better/more comfortable chairs inside and outside the room.. some cushions on the outside chairs wouldn't go astray.
this place is nice, but doesn't feel as quiet and peaceful as other places I've stayed at with people walking straight past your room all the time.
breakfast was basic and good, with fresh fruit, cereal, bread with different spreads (including vegemite) fresh pineapple juice, and multiple milk options (yay).
bring lots of your own snacks, fruit, water and milk for your room.
the staff were lovely and accommodating, food was very salty! and they ran out of lettuce for a few days, it was also quite expensive with small portions.

overall, it was a nice stay :)

This resort could be so much better. Decent food and menu choices with reasonable drink prices would increase business. In addition there needs to be shade at the pool and on the dining room patio to make it more inviting. Installation of umbrellas is much needed. The chairs in the dining area are uncomfortable and more suited to a children’s resort. Would not recommend this resort but it has great potential. The beach bungalows are clean and in good shape.

When I arrived in the evening the sun was setting through the palms. The only noises were the birds and the waves 100m out. Oh the serenity 😀. Everyone is so friendly and with only about 20 rooms they can remember your name. Dinner and a beer can be less than FJD35. It's a low volume kitchen so meal service can be slow...just accept it,it's not a negative. My wifi code lasted only a day and seems to be expensive after that. Best thing is get a Digitel sim.
If you like slow, peaceful and relaxed this is a definite.
Room was spacious and great to just sit out the front and stare at the water.

We had a four night stay. Our bungalo unit was half of a duplex set back from the beachfront units but still with a direct view of the ocean. The unit was clean and looked as good in person as in pictures. The AC was quiet worked well enough to keep us comfortable. Nice shower and functional bath. We were close to the road but the noise wasn't a problem for sleeping.

The three complaints I see in other reviews are true but should be taken in context. The staff are all lovely, friendly, speak english well, and work very hard. There are many blooming bushes like hybiscus which give the grounds are good feel. The beach is kept neat but does have broken glass, The beach isn't really swimable due to the coral reef so beach shoes are recommended. We swam in the pool each day which we pretty much had to ourselves so the lack of beach wasn't a problem. The dinner service is slow. I think they have a hard time matching staff to number of guests that eat on site each night. They ask you make reservations but they can certainly improve by staggaring sitting times. It seems most parties show up right at 7p and they are not staffed to receive more then 4 tables at time. The food however is quite good and reasonably priced. We had a car so we eat at nearby restaurants a few times but if you don't have a car the restaurant would be fine if you're patient or arrive after 8p. Finally, yes the breakfast is as basic as it can be but the coffee is good in a great setting

The only thing I'd say to consider is, if you like access to shops and restaurants, it's quite far from nearest town, but staff happy to order taxi or can get a bus.

This was our first holiday in Fiji and the 'Adults Only' of Tambua Sands Beach Resort strongly appealed to us. It's a smallish property but that enabled us to have a very relaxing holiday, without the buzz or busyness of a large resort. Our Bure provided us with the sounds of the sea both day and night. It could not have been lovelier. We visited four other resorts nearby, and Tambua was perfect. The only misgivings we had were that the breakfast was limited, there were frequently delays in meals being served, and in towels being supplied on time. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and dedicated and shared the gift of the Fijian culture so much so that we are planning to return to Fiji again next year! Thanks Tambua!

There was no structure at the hotel. Breakfast was never ready on time, we had to continually ask for cutlery, requested gluten free but this never happened. The pool table was in poor state with balls missing, the table tennis table was in poor state with the bats broken. No swimming towels for 2 days. The general management and structure of the hotel was very poor, although the staff were lovely and friendly.

The resort area is very nice and relaxing. Loungers at the rooms would be a nice touch. Very remote location. Need a car. The people are very nice however resort is cheaply run. Restaurant is not great and very overpriced. Breakfast is included but is very basic and usually under serviced not enough cups, cutlery, food etc. Would have expected water in the room upon arrival minimally until it could be purchased but was disappointed when I arrived late and stores/restaurants were closed. Shortage of linen as we had to wait for towels everyday.

The property is beautiful. The people are beautiful! Stayed in a little bure on the beachfront. It's a bit dated, but they keep them very clean. The bed was very comfortable, nice towels, pillows and bedding. The beach is not swimmable as the reef keeps the water back and the area in front of the resort is full of coral. It is very warm though and you can wade in it and sit in it if you want. The restaurant has a decent menu, prices are reasonable. The breakfast that is included is ok, cereal, juice, fruit and toast. You can order off the menu too. If you want to go anywhere they will call a taxi for you. Costs about 20-25 dollars FJD. There is nothing near the resort that you can walk to. The activity director tries very hard to arrange activities at the resort. There were very few people when we were there, so it made his job difficult!!! A lovely resort - we were lucky to be there with only a few others!!! If you want connection via your phone - get a sim card!!!! Wifi is not available except in lobby and it's sketchy!!!

Staff were so friendly!! Being steps away from the ocean was amazing and the snorkelling off the resort was great. Definitely go at high tide. The grounds were beautiful and the food was great! Only stayed for two nights but wish I could’ve stayed longer. Was incredibly relaxing

After 15 trips to Fiji staying in a wide variety of locations unfortunately this is the first bad experience we've had.
Tambua Sands is a lovely location and a well presented resort. But I've never come across a place that had none of the positive feel and soul of Fiji. The staff were withdrawn and didn't appear to be enjoying themselves - the opposite of all of our other experiences in Fiji. The resort was quite empty, but although it said adults only we had a family with children in the adjoining Bure.
This was the only resort in Fiji we've been to where we were asked to pay for the standard daily activities, with the reason we were given not making any sense at all.
We were booked for 8 nights, but decided to leave after only 3 knowing we would lose the money we paid for the remaining nights - but we wanted to have our usual uplifting, fun, relaxing Fiji holiday.
When we checked out the Manager came to see us and we were politely honest about our experience, to which she apologised and said they had to charge us for activities to help pay the land owners of the resort - however it is our understanding that this is no different from other resorts arrangements with their landowners.
If we knew the money was going directly to a good cause we would have supported the idea.
I really don't like writing my first ever negative review for any holiday we've had anywhere, but I feel a really good place has lost it's soul and isn't living and passing on the wonderful Fiji spirit

The overall venue is nice and clean, staff were kind, and we really liked our accommodation directly at the beach. The beach is beautiful. Breakfast was free for us. We had dinner at Tambua Sands several times, the food quality was great.
I would have given 5 stars if not for the following reasons:
- Swimming is not possible at the beach (it's a coral beach - you can go snorkling though)
- There are no shops near the Resort, you better rent a car to get around
- We think some items available for purchase at the Resort are heavily overpriced. You basically pay Australian prices or more, which I don't think is appropriate or fair. E.g. you pay $10 for a 1 litre bottle of water.
- Breakfast is very very basic. Just toast, butter, jam, honey, peanut butter, plus fruits. Everything else must be purchased.
- Food ordered for dinner took very long to arrive, sometimes 1.5 hours
- We were mistakenly charged some of the expenses of other guests and it took the Resort too long to rectify this.
PLEASE NOTE, Tambua Sands Beach Resort is NOT part of the Outrigger Resort in Korotogo. The current Google location of Tambua Sands Beach Resort is incorrect. Tambua Sands Beach Resort is located around 15km further towards Suva, just east of the small villaga Namada.

However, our air conditioner could barely keep the room cool during the day... it was really hot
Also, meal service was very slow, even to Fiji standards. We were a party of 8 and time between food arrival to 1st and last of us could be close to an hour.

Overall, we are happy with our visit to the resort, but I do have some remarks about missed cleaning of the bungalow on one of the days. The night light was constantly not working. There is not much light in the bungalow at night, and on top of that, our porch had no outside lighting. On arrival we were placed in connecting rooms which is unacceptable to us as a couple. The next day we were moved. The breakfast provided is a disaster and would be better off without it. One day I had to wait 1 hour for the gentleman who was in charge of the tours offered on site.

We had the most AMAZING stay for our honeymoon in room 5. There was enough privacy and spacious rooms. Highly recommend for those that love a slow pace relaxing holiday but also can have some fun with the entertaining staff. Staff were absolutely lovely & always had a smile on their dial. Special thanks to Mesu, big Joe, Sonny, Bou, Dale & all the other lovely staff! We will tell all our friends & family about this place.

Fab beach but noise from children spoilt the peace

The room was small but comfortable. It was clean. Good shower. Snorkelling off the beach was amazing. Service was very slow (more than the usual Fiji time slow) and not very proactive. You have to go and find staff and ask for things you want. Food wasn’t great. There were children in the “adults only” resort.

Great accomodation & gardens. Some of the stuff working there however had a very can’t be bothered, unhelpful energy. Having visited many resorts in Fiji, I can you tell you great staff with a friendly positive energy can make all the difference. Food was not great, your paying a lot for extremely small portions sizes. Was also surprised when they wanted to charge an extra $1 for a small slice of lime to add to my tea. Been a big fan of the Warwick I was overall very dissatisfied & disappointed with its sister resort Tambua Sands.

The property is set in a beautiful location. Our room when we arrived was not prepared with half eaten food from the previous occupants in a cupboard, and there were no towels. The room was also right next to a busy road and very noisy. To move we were charged a significant amount more, well over the web site difference for the rooms, and then that room though in a great location, had a smoke alarm that was emitting its low battery warning for 10 minutes every hour; this took 2 days to repair resulting in 2 nights with very little sleep. There was also a broken cupboard, towel rail, window blind and bedside reading light. I would have expected any hotel to provide a discount for this, not remain insistent on charging additional for the room; though we were given one free evening meal. I have to say that with the exception of the management and front desk staff, all the rest of the staff were lovely and really helpful.

The staff are absolutely lovely at Tambua Sands & the convenient access to the water and kayaks are great.

However, there are many areas for improvement at this location.

- The restaurant food is not good, we ate there on our first night and then not again for our 8 night stay. It's a shame as some nights it would have been great to stay in the resort and enjoy relaxing there rather than having to book a driver and find somewhere to eat - though the upside is it did mean we got to test many restaurants in the area.

- Our booking was made for 8 nights in a beachfront bure. When we arrived we were told the booking was only for 4 nights, which we thought was sorted out after initial confusion. But 2 nights before we left, management tried to move us to a garden villa, offering very little compensation that wouldn't have covered the original price difference much less cover the inconvenience. We politely refused many times until we were finally listened to.

- There are only a handful of snorkels available for the whole resort, and due to the rarity of any being available to use guest often hold onto them for days once they have them. Increasing the number available to start would be a good start in solving this problem and being able to offer the snorkelling that is advertised online at the resort.

- The bure showers are not cleaned during your stay, though the rooms are given a sweep. Tea in the room is also not replenished.

Overall, disappointing, but cheerful staff.

The resort is advertised adults only, however, young teens were also vacating on the grounds. The resort needs to offer more activities and entertainment. We did not have our room cleaned for two days even with our sign hanging on the door. We had to ask for towels this was never offered to us.

We visited so many places as potential places to stay on the main island in Fiji. Hands-down if you want a quiet serene place that’s right on the ocean with very little crowds than this is it. It doesn’t have a fancy amenities or crowds of the bigger resorts but my goodness, this place is a hidden gem. The hotel will give you snorkels upon request as well as a kayak for your pleasure. We were right on the beach. It was amazing and can’t wait to come back. My only fear with sharing this review is that it won’t be as quaint as it is once everyone finds out about it:)
