Staff was extremely and extraordinarily helpful.
A/C was not effective specifically when it’s hot. Also in the common dinning area. Had to sit under it. Lounging Chairs should be in the balcony and chairs in the room should be upright to drink coffee, Water bottles should be 2 at least for 2 people. Bathroom drain was clogging in our room. Hooks to hang clothes or towels.

The drive in does this place no justice. Once reaching the hotel it is absolutely beautiful, overlooking Tamarindo and the ocean. The infinity views are unbelievable as are the suites. There is an airbnb feel to it because of how private the suites are, feels like a retreat or a private getaway, and the staff is ready to serve at every opportunity. Carlos was awesome, he gave us a seamless check in experience and the dinner was delicious! Hard to say what the best part of this stay was but Virginia was amazing as well. Excellent with our breakfast orders - fresh fruit and juice daily with the best jam ever, excellent pool service, and Marta and Helen gave the best massages and facials of our lives. 100% recommend every part of this stay - suite, breakfast, dinner, massages, pool - and would stay again.

This was a perfect find. If you’re looking for peace & quiet this is the place. There are 8 treehouse like huts that offer privacy & are spaced out. If you love nature and seek privacy & to be away from the crowds then look no further! It’s close enough to town, so when you do venture out, you wont need to drive far. I recommend exploring the area & beyond. To do so without a worry you will need a 4x4. The owners are very nice & are happy to accommodate in any way. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the

This isn't your typical hotel; the rooms are spread out across the stunning property, ensuring privacy with no shared walls. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and full of natural light. Each morning, we had coffee on our patio, listening to the birds and howler monkeys.

10 out of 10 - Immaculate
I cant say enough about this place, we only stayed for one night at the end of a week long trip all over Costa Rica, this place is a paradise. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The property is in immaculate shape inside and out, the yard and pool are kept clean, the room was spotless. You get what you pay for is very true, its a little more expensive than others in the area, but the privacy, the beauty, the comfort, and the service are well worth the price.

I want to keep this place a secret to myself. I don’t normally write reviews. But this place is so magical that I have to. I was immediately messaged after I booked the hotel. They arranged transportation for me from the airport. It is my first time to Costa Rica. And I travelled solo. I have never felt so safe. The minute you walk into the property, you are well taken care of. I could literally turn off my mind, and let them take care of things for me. They helped me books a surf lesson. The instructor was excellent ! I stood up on the board ! The food is out of this world. I tried the tapas tasting menu. I loved it so much that it’s like I am in Spain. (The chef is from Spain!). They helped me booked yoga classes. The studio is 2 min walk from the hotel. They arranged their own shuttle services for their guests to town. So I did not have to worry about transportation when I was there. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. They can predict what you need and take care of it for you before you even ask. This is a paradise. Don’t even have to think and just book it. I will surely come back !

Location is nice and secluded from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo but still only a few minutes away. Ideal for both my wife and myself as resort was extremely peaceful and set back in the forest/jungle. Howler monkeys make a great alarm clock!!

Staff was phenomenal! After some travel difficulties they waited for me and my wife to arrive the night we flew in. Their recommendations for places to see were always spot on. Charlie was the number one staff member!! Carlos and Virginia were always happy to answer questions and let us know about different areas to visit. Very nice place. Just in the middle of nowhere. Cabs to and from town have to deal with a steep, dirt, bumpy, rock-filled road (one night we almost couldn't find it). And because of its isolation, not even able to walk around outside the 10-room facility.

Bugs, hair, and HORRENDOUS customer service
To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here.
We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things.
In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than \"exceptional\" experience.
1) The \"jungle view\" room is of a dumpster.
2) There was hair on multiple pillows
3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on.
4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver.
5) The \"free shuttle\" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip.
6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

Lovely small, privat and quiet hotel. This hotel is for you if you prefer a bit more remote retreat with the chance to go into Tamarindo and on the beach for bits of your stay and otherwise prefer secluded and quiet with a fabulous view. The food was 5 stars. They have an amazing chef! The staff is so helpful and really get to know you. You feel right at home.

I’ll first start by saying this hotel is beautiful! The rooms, the view, the staff were all very delightful. Virginia was THE best from booking, arranging airport transfer, assisted with booking excursions as well as helped with locating an officiant. My only negative is the location. Kalokiari is situated in a very under developed area, about 10 mins from Tamarindo. Most of the drivers complained/were not enthused to service the location due to the road conditions where it’s located. I’ll say this, don’t stay here during the rainy season as I’m sure the roads are much worse than when dry.
Overall, if you enjoy “privacy” (really seclusion), have some $$$ to spend, and want to wake up to a beautiful sunset via balcony, book it! The hotel offers free breakfast, they have good coffee and a chef on sight that prepares both a lunch and dinner for additional price (menus change daily). The water stayed hot, it was secured and staff remained accessible!

Oh, where to start??! Pacific Kalokairi provides hospitality at the very highest level. We had such a fabulous experience. The staff is wonderfully friendly. It was like having a private concierge and private chef. They took care of everything we needed, from excursions to taxis to towels and shuttles, immediately and without hesitation. The rooms are gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were beyond delicious. The entire experience was warm, welcoming and friendly. Not at all pretentious or precious. We felt so comfortable with everyone there. It was unlike any vacation we’d ever taken before. On our last morning we had about 7-8 howler monkeys in the trees outside our room - what a treat to see them up close, like being in a game preserve. Also, we must mention we adored being greeted by Charley, the gentle giant black lab. There’s so much love at Pacific Kalokairi- we highly recommend vacationing in Costa Rica and staying there.

This beautiful property is located in the hills above Tamarindo with an amazing view of the ocean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The guest accommodations are modern, spacious and private. We loved listening to the birds and the Howler monkeys and just enjoying the awesome view from our room. Relaxing poolside and cooling off in the infinity pool was a treat. Peaceful, quiet, elegant...Pacific Kalokairi is a sanctuary in this area. Highly recommended!

We were so lucky to land at Pacific! We were desperate to find a new place to stay at the tail end of our stay in CR. We found Pacific Kalokairi and Virginia immediately treated us as family. The units are breathtaking and you feel as if you are on an island all by yourself. This is a hidden gem we were fortunate to find!

Booked this place without knowing the geography of Tamarindo too well. Tamarindo in a busy little town, and I really enjoyed being a short distance from it at Kalokairi. It’s a short walk from town in the hills. The view of the coast is stunning. The rooms are beautiful, and the staff is extremely kind. Only good things to say for this experience.

The family who own and run this business truly put their hearts and souls into making the space beautiful, clean and peaceful.

My wife and I enjoy traveling and staying at places that are clean, scenic, and safe. This place exceeded our expectations. We stayed for a total of 4 nights. Virginia is very responsive through WhatsApp and answered our questions prior to and during our stay. She is kind and very friendly. We didn’t rent a car so we depended on the hotel shuttle to get to the city. If the times do not align with your plan for the day Virginia/her family can set up taxis to pick you up from a specific location to the hotel or vice versa. Which brings me to my only complaint - we were told by the hotel that it was $10 flat rate to the drop off point in the city. However there were two times where we were overcharged by the taxi driver. The rate has nothing to do with the stay itself/the hotel, but it was frustrating that there seemed to be a miscommunication between the taxi drivers and the hotel, which resulted in inaccurate information being conveyed to us. It wasn’t about the money, but rather the fact that we were thrown off about the cost.

The first word that comes to mind is exemplary. Virginia, and her family along with Marco provided the most excellent first experience in Costa Rica. From the moment I touched down till sendoff nine days later, I felt as if I was a guest in their home. The rooms and the views provided the much needed relaxation along with the amenities on the property(ie: cold plunge/ hot tub)

From Liberia Airport via a transfer arranged by the resort, I arrived at Pacific Kalokairi in dire need of relaxation. I was greeted warmly and shown to my gorgeous suite where I watched an incredible sunset over the ocean…the first of many. Thanks to my gracious hosts I was able to book a 2 hour massage and then spent many peaceful hours at the pool. I enjoyed delicious meals dining by the pool and/or having them delivered to my room. When I was rested and ready to go town a short drive away, they offered a shuttle service at specific times or arranged a taxi if I wanted to go or return at another time. As a family run establishment, they make you feel incredibly welcome like family, including their black lab Charlie! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Wonderful experience! My husband and I have been to Tamarindo many times, but this was our first time staying at Pacific Kalokairi. The personal attention we received and overall attentiveness of the staff was truly exceptional. Virginia and Sylvia took excellent care of us and made sure we took advantage of local hidden gems and several lesser-known beaches and attractions. The private bungalows were very nice, beds were comfortable and the view from our room and balcony was stunning. We watched spectacular sunsets from our balcony every evening and enjoyed a daily swim in the infinity pool, which offers a panoramic view of the ocean. Our room was kept immaculate by the cleaning service, and the small fridge and coffee maker provided were welcome accommodations. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the week we spent at Pacific Kalokairi and would highly recommend it to other travelers seeking to explore Tamarindo. This retreat offers a quiet, peaceful atmosphere with regular glimpses of monkeys and other wildlife, yet it’s only a few minutes from downtown Tamarindo’s shops, restaurants and beaches. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss on your next trip to Costa Rica.

For the final leg of our Costa Rica trip we stayed at Pacific Kalokairi just outside of Tamarindo. The access road was pretty straightforward compared to other such roads in Costa Rica. The last 100m or so is a steep climb, but totally paved.. no big deal. The property is fully gated so when you arive, hit the buzzer and one of the staff will open the main gate. Parking is a breeze.
The grounds here are immaculate. The pool area where breakfast is served is gorgeous. The Infinity pool over looks the town of Tamarindo and the ocean in the distance.
The rooms .. wow ! Perfect size for a king suite. Each is its own villa with all of the luxury touches your expect from a high end spot. We booked an ocean view room so the balcony overlooks the pool and had amazing sunsets every night.

Best Villa Getaway!
We have done trips to Hawaii, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and other beach locations, and Pacific Kalokairi is bar none, head and shoulders above them all. The accommodations are meticulously cared for, thoughtfully and beautifully designed, and kept to a pristine cleanliness. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge in the room which wasn’t mentioned in the listing. The location is perfect offering the most stunning view of the Costa Rican countryside and beach, located close to town but in a tranquil setting outside the hustle and bustle of town. The service is exemplary by the family, characteristic of only the most expensive 5-star resorts. They are there to attend to your every need, going above and beyond at every opportunity. Based on others’ reviews, we rented a large SUV to handle the Costa Rican roads, and did just fine. Definitely recommend an SUV with 4-wheel drive. We already miss the sounds of the monkeys and birds. What are you waiting for, book it! You’re in for a real treat!
