My assigned room had chunks of carpet missing. The doorframes were chipped and worn. The room didn’t appear to have been dusted in quite a while. The bathroom floor needed to be cleaned. There was an old molded coffee filter and grounds in the coffee pot. The refrigerator didn’t work and the front closet had a bunch of exposed wall anchors and missing shelves. Lastly, the wall nearest the window had suspicious dripping stains (disgusting). In all, not the greatest stay for the price. This hotel needs a major deep clean on the rooms and a repaint and carpet replacement as well.

Breakfast was great. Beds were clean. Bath towels were up to par. Rest of the room was dirty. Dirty mirrors, scum built up on shower shelfs, gross looking roll of paper towel at kitchenette, old rag towel for dishes there too, and no dish soap or soap for that area. Toilet paper holder was broke and wall mount was coming off. Spoons in the drawer did not look sanitized. Dirty, dusty looking floors and dusty shelves and counter tops. This looked more like someone's living room than a nice clean hotel room ready for the next paying customer. Maybe this room just needs an upgrade on the floors and a bit deeper clean. Staff was very kind and friendly.

I’ve stayed here before but this is the first time I felt that this particular room was neglected. When I entered the room, the window was wide open, the TV had the incorrect welcoming information and there was tobacco odor that lingered for days and it was EVERYWHERE you went in the room. I was very unhappy and felt that they knew it was an issue but still allowed us to stay there. It would have been nice if we knew beforehand.

After we switched because door would not pock on first room: Nice, clean, comfortable room. Good customer service, if you asked for something.. cleaning service was minimal very little cleaning done during our 8 day stay but clean upon arrival. Had to ask for towels everytime except the time or two our room was cleaned.

The property was fine. However, it seemed to be run by a family with many of the desk staff being insufficiently trained to respond to common questions. I asked at the desk if they could help book transport to the airport and was told no. I asked again, later, due to difficulties with booking transport with a Canadian postal code and was told that cabs are obsolete. After providing a number, the manager did call, eventually. Then, I was overcharged on the bill. I travel often and haven't experienced this lack of willingness of staff to help, previously.

Multiple issues with this property. The first was not their fault, it was through Expedia. When I explained the issue with the lady at the front desk, she was a bit rude. Next, I was put into a room that did not look cleaned at all. The bed sheets were dirty, the room smelled and there was hair/dirt in the bathroom. They accommodated and moved me to another room where I heard what sounded like a mouse or rustling near the vent. I checked out a day early. I was uncomfortable staying.

Heads up:
The jacuzzi is not in use! Looks like it may be under construction.

It was not worth the money honestly.

Love the hotel. Not a fan of the $200 to $300 hold on my card (the guy said $300 on the phone but they charged me $200)

The room itself was okay, could probably be updated some. We had an issue with the tv volume which wouldn’t go down, front desk tried to help but was unsuccessful. I did complain about kids making a ton of noise in the next room & front desk immediately resolved the issue. The breakfast area was very clean but the food itself wasn’t the best. Wasn’t the best stay but wasn’t the worst either.

Room was lovely. Coffee pot cracked they replaced it right away. Bed was one of the most comfortable ive ever slept on. Very friendly staff.
The only issue was our room was right directly over the lobby, they played music all night long very loud it was instrumental nice music but too loud. There was a speaker outside which made it louder for us right above them. I called the front desk at 1 am no one answered. I had trouble sleeping all night. I was very very unhappy I had N early morning flight and am exhausted.

This hotel is over priced. You can find comparable hotels in the immediate vicinity for less. The room needed an update, the tv didn’t work, we had a pet room with carpet😯, we ran out of toilet paper. Felt like it was a cheaper hotel brand that Marriott bought, put their name on and raised the prices.Also pet fee was $120 for a 2 night stay.

The staff here was very friendly. Each time I needed anything they got it right away (towels, extra plates, etc.) This hotel was also clean and noise free. Not to mention the free breakfast wasn’t too bad either for a quick bite to start your day. I’d recommend this hotel for business travelers or family travelers!

I have stayed at multiple TownePlace Suites in the Detroit area. The location is the best for me. However the stock of items in the kitchen were minimal. When I asked the front desk for more glasses (we only had 2), I was offered the paper cups used for coffee. Granted this serves drink purposes, but I am in town with family and I like to offer a glass drink as I have at the other TownePlace Suites locations. There were only 2 spoons as well. There was no dish washing soap as I have had at the other TownePlace Suites locations. I really like the indoor pool.

Most terrible hotel stay I have had in a while. Hotels near by have crime coming in and out. The hotel had no pool towels, only 2 towels to a room. You could not access the pool without the master key and key machine was down at first therefore you needed to be escorted every time you went in and out of your room. You also needed a key card for the lights in the room to work but no one was told during check in. The breakfast was also not heated up prior to 7am when breakfast was supposedly to start. They definitely are short staffed and have limited resources. The coffee bar was covered in ants and the guy at the front desk showed NO care in the world. This all was only in a two nights stay!!

I am writing to express my deepest disappointment regarding a recent experience I had at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Canton.

I had made a reservation for a room at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Detroit Canton for July 26 - July 27 due to losing power in my home as a result of a thunderstorm. I was eagerly looking forward to my stay as advertised upon booking with my 3 young children. Unfortunately, upon arriving at the hotel, I was informed that there was a power outage on the property defeating the purpose of my initial booking resulting in the inability to check into my room. This was extremely frustrating, as I had made the reservation in advance and had not been notified about any potential disruptions.

What compounded the situation further was the treatment I received from a staff member named Joseph. Despite my valid concerns and frustrations, Joseph was dismissive and refused to provide me with his last name when asked as well as provided me with the incorrect contact information of the General Manager. He provided me with the business card from an entirely different hotel. This lack of professionalism, lack of integrity and transparency only served to heighten my dissatisfaction with the situation.

Adding to the inconvenience, the location of the hotel required me to drive over 40 minutes in adverse driving conditions. Never again.

For being a fairly new hotel the room was dirty and the sheets were worn and thin. Some members of guest services were rude and barely spoke English. They charged us for high speed internet when we only signed in for free internet. Didn’t clean room our or even exchange towels during our 3 nights stay. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Bathroom was off... it was like someone has just used the toilet when we arrived. There are streaks of urine in the toilet bowl. Saw some dirt on the walls of the bathroom, it was like accumulated dust hanging, lacking of towels supplies and bath supplies. We got one of their biggest suite 2bedrooms , 5 of us are staying, but the supplies are very poor. YES WE CAN REQUEST , we have to walk to the front desk and asked. Still , isnt it hasstle to our part ? They have good guest relations, BUT rooms are very poor when it comes to cleanliness and supplies

Check-in was unbelievably slow due to the person at the front desk now knowing how to enter card information into their system. As that was going on, there was a (possibly drunk) guy in the lobby being confrontational and harassing other guests—the hotel staff failed to intervene.

A final note: very, very thin walls. Would not recommend this place.

Overall great hotel!

The hotel is sharp and clean. I did have a few needs that I didn’t have time to address. There was no extra toilet paper and I didn’t realize it till my last bathroom visit when I had to grab the tissues to finish up. There was No soap in the kitchen. I’ve stayed in several Towne Suites so I am aware of what is normally stocked. The kitchen should have it’s own garbage can, I had to put my food garbage in a small office can which doesn’t seem practical or convenient. There was a light over the desk that didn’t work. Not the desk lamp but a strip light under the shelving. I was disappointed when I went to check out, the elevators were not in order so when I went to try to find stairs, there was NO sign indicating where they were. That needs to be addressed in case of emergency. I had several bags so that definitely made it an awkward departure. Communication about that would have been important. The front desk clerk was friendly and made checkin easy :)

The room was fine, however the Expedia listing stated that the hotel provided shuttle service from the airport. They do NOT have shuttle service. I ended up paying $40 cab fare to get to the hotel. I would not have booked a room if I knew it would cost another $40 to stay here. It was too late for me to cancel the room for a refund. The desk clerk stated that they needed to update their Expedia listing.

I was charged a no show fee after I spoke with an expedia agent (15 minutes after I booked the reservation)to cancel my reservation. The agent told me he needed to speak with the supervisor to cancel my reservation and they would get back to me. I only cancelled my reservation because my power came back on. After I recieved the first email I called the hotel and Expedia. When I spoke with Shawn (a supervisor at the hotel) He explained to me that he couldn't refund my money because I paid through a 3rd party (expedia) and it was on them to refund my money. Now expedia is saying that after they spoke I did a no show to the hotel. I feel that both the hotel and expedia both lied to me and gave me the complete run around when they could of told me the truth when I tried to intially tried to cancel my reservation. Poor customer service on both ends...

I love the fact that it had a pool and hot tub. The hotel was nice as well. There were a couple things that we didn’t like which is the room was very small and you had to use your room key to turn lights on.

On the website, it states that the room could fit four people. I could see if you didn’t have any bags but a couple of very small ones. Plus the pull out sofa bed touches the end of the actually bed so it’s very difficult to get to and from the bathroom and such when the sofa is bed pulled out. There was three of us but it was still a very tight squeeze. I asked for a larger room as we were spending four nights there but it was incredibly more expensive.

My husband and I found it to be very strange that we had to use our room key to turn on the lights upon entering the room. I’m assuming it’s a safety mechanism?

Other than that, the hotel is nice and the amenities are great.
