The hotel is lovely, with exceptional staff, a beautiful swimming pool and a great breakfast buffet.
But there is no beach, despite it presenting the hotel as beachfront.
The room was comfortable but lacked any decoration..it could use a piece of artwork.

Suggestion for future guests: lower your expectations. This is not a high-end resort. We stayed 3 nights in their beachfront, private pool room (highest category). Room issues: bathroom smelled like a sewer (they hide it with scented candles), bathroom sink leaded everywhere (they fixed within the hour), toilet drips constantly. Resort issues: there is no beach to speak of here, as the resort is built at the waterline. The location of the resort on Nana Beach is bad, there is nothing close by. The beach itself is disgusting, we even found syringes in the sand. The resort has “service charges” at every corner (so beware), this is not a great feeling when you’re basically forced to eat/drink at the resort. The resort offers experiences, like rum tasting and pizza making, but these were fully booked for the whole stay well before we even got a chance to take part. Ultimately disappointing. Staff member B said she would do all she could to make an exception and allow us one experience, but ultimately never got back in touch. The one request I had prior to arrival was no feather pillows in the room (I’m highly allergic), and the resort confirmed this months prior, but upon checking in, the room had feather pillows. The staff honestly don’t care. So basically: bad sleep, bad location, bad experience. Positives: beautiful gardens, lovely breakfast. I’ll stay closer to Fisherman’s Village next time.

Benz, Belinda and Bee all made my 1 week stay there memorable. I truly enjoyed the service from all of them. Wonderful room with a sea view was so relaxing. Love the adults only aspect.

Suggestions for improvement: had to ask a few times fo the towels in the gym to be refilled, provide healthier and more flavorful vegan options.

The best bit was the (mostly) Burmese-speaking staff - they were excellent. Property infrastructure maintenance is not what you would expect for a facility showing its age.
Aluminium plate pool loungers are the hardest and least comfortable ever encountered. 25mm thick foam pads did not lessen the discomfort. Do not know how some visitors could stand them for hours at a time. Am sure they have tons of repeat customers who absolutely love lounging by the pool and staring at the grey wall.

Only a single plastic chair in a supposed 5-star AUD$800/ night luxury room?

Included breakfast was passable, however not 5-star. (Check the way the bread is sliced) Again, the mostly Myanmar and Thai staff went out of their way to be accommodating in the restaurant and were the most redeeming feature of the property - otherwise it would be a 3 star overall. The pizza was very good, as were other normal menu items tried outside of breakfast hours. The only access to what is left of the beach after the typhoon in 23 or 24 is pathetic. Concrete steps that lead to a fabricated steel access structure at the last half metre to the sand - very poor. The gym was reasonably equipped, although the workout area was quite small and you needed to pick your time to avoid crowding. Nothing of note within walking distance of property.

But other than the staff, the view over the private pool onto the ocean was a 5 star for us. (As long as you didn't sit on the lounger too long)

We had a had a lovely stay at Explorar during Easter. Excellent staff with shout outs to Tikki by the pool and Joy and Kate in reception who made it such a special experience. Also the bar staff and waiters were all exceptional. The service was quite slow - especially for the special meals such as Easter dinner. We also noticed on that occasion that the people who were indulging in the bottles of wine got more attention! There are only limited options outside the hotel but you can access various beach bars. The shuttle to Fisherman’s village was a nice touch but as it was always full it was difficult to get on. Overall we would recommend

Everything about the property was good.
Joi/Nit from the front desk was so friendly and helpful. Always greeted with a smile.

Garfield and Ing greeted us with a smile too during our daily bfast. It was lovely to be able to bring our drinks to the deck chairs as well. Only thing is that the mushroom/broccoli served was a little too salty.

Explorar is really great, after 12 days couldn’t fault it. Staff are lovely and resort is amazing. Only suggestion would be that they should run the activities like yoga etc daily rather than weekly and they should run more shuttles to the market and chaweng.

Gym facility was top notch with good working equipment. Only real complaint is not enough pool loungers. All the chairs are claimed by 9:00, but not being used despite the signs saying you can’t reserve them.

We stayed at the Explorar for the last leg of honeymoon trip and it was incredible. The staff go above and beyond and the hotel itself is stunning and the pool was amazing. There are a lot of complimentary activities throughout the week. You can visit lots of temples, elephants and waterfalls easily. The food has a nice variety but also nice restaurants nearby and in Fisherman's Village. Joey and his team at the bar made the best cocktails & drinks we had on our travels. They were so friendly and knowledgeable. We had the best time, thank you!

Exceeded all our expectations in every way for our relaxation getaway! We stayed in a beach front villa and totally made the most of the pool and the gorgeous beach view. The rooms, the resort itself and the staff are all top notch… modern, fresh and very clean. The social hour was our daily treat (two for the price of one quality cocktails) where we enjoyed meeting other couples from different parts of the world along with other Aussies. The breakfast was amazing (I especially loved the fresh coconut each day) and the grounds a tropical haven. Very highly recommended.

Nice and quiet seaside hotel, with excellent service and beautifully maintenined garden and pool. Kind and polite staff, sandy, clean beach. Walking distance, 2.5 kms ( if you up for it) from Fisherman village, with busy night market. The pavement for the pedestrians is rough everywhere in the island not suitable for disabled peopleor mobilitys scooters. The hotel provides excellent accessibility for disabled guests.There is an elephant sanctuary within walking distance as well, but no pavement. I would highly recommend this holiday resort for couples, and people who want adult only hotel. Foods were high quality and excellent. Entertainment music was appropriately selected for guests who wanted a relaxing experience.

This stay has been one of the best ones so far Ive been to, incredible architecture and accurately built area in and around the entire land covering every scenic area, incredible and mostly peaceful, quite and enjoyable to take a good rest from the busy world, and exceptional service and 24-hr buggy service is appreciated as it takes 2 mins to get to your villa on the buggy, so its very useful,

We had an amazing time at Explorar. We were a bit hesitant to book at the start given the unknown/name of the hotel, but we're so glad we ended up booking.

It was nothing short of amazing, the room, facilities, pool, bar, food (special highlight to the Pad Thai and the wood fire pizzas), and the staff is definitely a highlight. We could name so many people here, Jor, Ticky, Sophia, they were just great!

Definitely recommend for anyone looking at exploring Koh Samui.

I have stayed at this hotel in May for my family vacation. The staff are so friendly. All staff from the reception to the bar, restaurant, and everywhere are so nice and willing to help with everything you need. The hotel is quiet and private. Breakfast has a variety of choices. One special thing about breakfast is you have to order the omelet and coffee on paper of your personal choice and then the staff brings it to your table which is more fascinating than any other hotel. The hotel has a timely shuttle to nearby attractions which is very convenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and I highly recommend for this hotel if you want a private and quiet stay for your vacation.

The sun loungers always had towels on them but were never in use, there should be a better system whereby staff remove the towels if the sun loungers are not in use after a certain amount of time.

Food all lovely, club sandwich was the best on the lunch menu at the pool bar. Cocktails are good quality at the pool bar with buy one get one free at 2pm to 3pm for Happy hour, the mojito was the best there.

Breakfast in the mornings was also amazing, large choice of different foods and freshly made baked granola. Well worth a try, coffee made fresh to order also. It gets the full 5 stars from us, I'd return here again for a relaxing break.

If I could give this property more than 5 stars, I would. I was only there for a night and wished I could have stayed for at least a week. The property is breathtakingly beautiful, no pictures or videos do it justice. Added bonus, it is adults only so it was so quiet and peaceful.

I will be taking a trip back to Koh Samui just so I can stay here for longer than 24 hours.

It’s an impeccable property, very well kept, clean and in a quiet yet strategic area of the island. It’s close to fisherman's market, Chaweng and the pier where you can take the boat to various islands. The nice thing is that the hotel is close to everything without being in the middle of everything aka the madness of Chaweng.

Another plus is the beach right in front of the hotel, which is the only one where you can swim the whole day without caring of the tides…something VERY rare in Ko Samui, trust me. I’ve seen high end hotels on the island being in front of a beach without chairs, umbrellas or even water in the sea because of the tides. In Mae Nam there are no parties, no vendors, no promoters…just you, the sand and the water.

COVID-19 did not allow for us to visit Thailand due to tourism restrictions. Our trip was for an entire month. Four other hotels and two plane tickets were completely refunded. The COAST was the ONLY hotel that refused to refund our stay. Yes, we were provided a voucher. But, when you live 18 hours away MINIMUM by plane and are in a global pandemic... how do you deny a refund exceeding $1000+?

I am HIGHLY UNIMPRESSED. This is bad business and I refused to recommend this hotel to friends or family.

Stunning hotel. Pool is huge. The view from the pool and beach area is absolutely stunning. Beach has nice sand - much nicer than fisherman's Village area. Cocktails were great in the pool bar. Good relaxing stay

Our pool villa (after paid upgrade) was excellent. Housekeeping was great as well as the service at breakfast. Good food with changing themes for breakfast. Cocktails were slightly dear so happy hour was popular. Beach is nice but could be smelly.
Would recommend hotel to couples wanting a peaceful stay.
