We booked this hotel for my wife's birthday,
we paid thousands of dollars in advance (~8K $), a week before our holiday we had a tragedy in our family ( my brother in law had passed away from a sudden illness ).
I cancelled my vacation and ask the hotel to consider the family tragedy and refund my vacation or at least reschedule it.
ooh ,they used very polite language but bluntly refused to give me any of my money back.

So they might be a Fancey hotel but with zero compassion and all their fancy language is a façade to their greed.

It was my second time staying at W Koh Samui since my honeymoon 10 years back - this time, with my daughter as well. Staffs were super fantastic and supportive and overall quality of facilities was also great. I would absolutely stay again when I visit Koh Samui in near future. Highly recommended for family vacation, honeymoon or short getaway with your friends.

Fantastic resort with a great beach

Stayed at this hotel for few nights as a family of 4 in 2 rooms and really enjoyed it. Each room has its own pool which is wonderful, the beach is very exclusive and you can watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand. Breakfast was superb and staff very friendly.
Only issue we found was the limited choices of restaurant since they are a bit short staffed, and the only restaurant available for the evening was rather pricey, but on the flip side it “forced” us to explore restaurants outside the resort

VILLA: LOVED IT! So modern and spacious with lots of personality. Pops of color and fun details. Comfortable, clean, great living space and bathroom; great toiletries and linens; clean, big pool and green space.

LOCATION: golf buggy avail for movement around property.
25 min from USM, 10min to Fisherman’s Village (300-400baht). Free shuttle available from hotel.

PROPERTY: beautifully maintained property. Great views, design, modern. Beach set up comfortable but steep dip into ocean. Great common areas, but spent most of our time in the Villa.

FOOD: Fresh, inviting, delicious breakfast buffet with excellent service (a special thank you to Rainy!) Many Western and Asian options.

STAFF: incredible team!! Every department was very personable and warm. (Thank you Mr BIG!)

BONUS:
- sweet spots; complimentary ice cream and beverage
- Complimentary cell phone for information, contacting hotel, local/international calls
- ECO FRIENDLY! Glass bottles and paper straws, well done!

Wanted a beachfront private residence to relax with spa facilities and W Koh Samui was fabulous! Excellent food ! Cater to dietary requirements really well . Namu a highlight Massages were great. I took my own SUP board but it would be great if the hotel had their own quality boards to use seeing it's such a great location to stand up paddle . They only had kayaks .

PRETTY BUT FLAWED

I was excited to return to the W Retreat Koh Samui after a 2 year absence. I had missed the great service, food, accommodation and facilities but left rather disappointed. The staff remain so incredibly friendly and kind however our room was looking in need of renovation. Mould in bathroom, timber that is showing signs of wear and tear, shredded bathroom towels, etc and on my last day was treated to 2 enormous cockroaches enjoying the luxurious bath tub. No bath for me that day and in need of a good scrubbing (in the shower) before checking out.
Putting these matters aside, my main qualm was with the sea. During our last visit, the sea available to guests was pristine. Not so, this time. Instead, so heavily polluted that we were unable to enjoy this important aspect of a beach holiday. Luckily we had a pool in our room, otherwise the trip would have been even more disappointing.
Then the next issue is management's decision to charge admission for anyone to enter the hotel to take pictures, drink, eat and tour the facilities. So much for privacy?? As a 5 star resort with prices to match, I had expected more privacy, instead we were bombarded with, what seemed an endless stream of transient tourists (mainly Chinese) and their entourages taking selfies continuously.
At check-out, a staff member asked if I was sad to leave the hotel...I said, I can't wait to get back home!!

hotel condition isn't that new. nothing much to do in the hotel. the spa is very expensive. recommend to do the spa outside of the hotel, we had great massage experience in the city of samui, central festival. the price is much much lower than the one in the hotel.

The worst quality of sand

We are completely shocked by the quality of sand - very coarse and prickly on the feet. How can a resort area be called resort with such quality of sand!! Made the entire beach experience non-existent and unappealing!

Wonderfully world class!

We stayed for 2 nights in a beach front villa and from the moment we arrived to the time we left, all we can say is Wow! The place is dripping in style. Yes you do pay quite a bit to stay there but it's worth it in my opinion and would definetly return although we'd probably stay in the hillside villas for the views which are incredible. Do yourself a favour and stay at the W, you only live once!

A small misunderstanding at the Namu restaurant, ended up making me (A very experienced business traveller) sure W retreat IS the best hotel in Samui or even Asia

Simply amazing!

This was the hotel I chose among thousands of hotels in Thailand to celebrate my 50th anniversary. I did not regret for a second. The hotel management made everything possible to make our stay memorable. Starting from the friendliness of the whole staff and ending with the pleasant surprise of the birthday cake ( delicious) and the very personal hand written card for my birthday and everybody congratulating me for my birthday. Unbelievable memories.Nothing to say about the villa, the beach, the food. Everything was more than 100% devotion from the hotel to make everyone happy. Exclusive SPA.....If I ever come back to Samui, that is one of the hotels that I will definitely return to. Simply amazing!

Booked for just the one night here and wish we could have stayed longer! Our stay here was perfect. The staff are friendly and couldn't do enough for us and the facilities are excellent. We were upgraded on check in and were very impressed with the room and private pool. The design has been well thought through and the little touches are wonderful - including the 'sweet spot' fridges located around the resort which contain complimentary ice creams and soft drinks! Not too crowded either, we were able to get a bed at the beach and a booth at the bar in the evening (with the backdrop of the 'W' against the evening sky!) The swimming pool is beautiful, it's very surreal swimming with such a lovely view! All in all, the night's stay was a relatively expensive one but definitely worth the money.

No doubt its one of the best around, facilities, service are top notch but there are LOTS of 5 star options in Thailand and this is certainly amongst the top 3 priciest. Is it great....yes, is it value for money... not so sure purely due to the amount of really top notch options in thailand these days. calculate 3 nights = 3500 USD thats Maldives prices

Wonderful and trendy!

Our ocean view room was wonderful. The private pool was big enough to really swin in it while overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was just amazing. Quality, fresh, choice of everything you may want from asian breakfast to european-american. Service was really special. Everyone was so friendly. The site was really nice. The beach bar was really nice. The lobby bar at night had a trendy DJ and the site was just amazing. I travel a lot for business and leisure and this resort was one of the best I have experienced!

Unbelievable! The best hotel and service I've ever received anywhere...and I've been all around the world many times. Private pool ocean escape was sensational, so clean and had TWO double showers, one indoor and one outdoor. A huge tub overlooking the pool and had an amazing view of the ocean. Fell in love with this place and we can't wait to come back. To the team...Tom, Oak and Jeans, you made our trip so memorable and sorted out everything we needed. Room service was excellent and because of the size of the resort you're driven around in buggies...it's fun and the staff are always prompt. Look after them when you can with tips, they're so appreciative and deserve every bit. Breakfast is fantastic with a huge choice plus they'll cook anything you desire. Had a pedicure at the spa, she was excellent and the spa service was spot on. You pay a price for luxury and it was worth every cent. Didn't want to leave, every picture looks like paradise! Can't wait to make my album.

You will never want to leave

On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, the W earns at least 10!!! From the personal touches at every turn (wait until you see the transformation of your bear when they turn down your bed at night!), the friendliest staff in the world, and the dreamlike setting to the perfect (and abundant) food, the crystal waters and the star-quality suites, no detail has been overlooked.
Nick the manager is ever-present and he ensures that his \"team\" gives 100% to each guest at every moment. They are indeed a team, in the true sense of the word. They all work together seemlessly to create a smoothly run, friendly, relaxing paradise.
The new food and beverage director is not only a charming new addition, but bends over backwards to ensure each guest is delighted with their culinary offerings.
Not sure what to do on the island? Tom will not let you down. Your wish is his command and if you'll be visiting Bangkok, be sure to let him know that as well.
The staff knows the guests, including room #s, favorite Bliss products, and cocktails (be sure to try their special papaya and rum drink)! You'll never wait more than 30 seconds for anything, and you wouldn't mind if you did, because you'll be in paradise.
Well-appointed rooms, with private pools, the most comfortable beds anywhere, and Illy coffee.
If I had to pick one thing as a negative, I'd say their towels could be fluffier. Really, that's the ONLY thing I can think of!

Very beautiful hotel, but very poorly maintained

Having a private pool on your patio is great, having a clean pool would be even greater. Having both an indoor and outdoor shower is great, but having two clean showers would be even greater. Living in a beautiful hotel is realxing to your mind, but seeing all un-oiled hardwood around you is disturbing. Relaxing by the pool was immaculate, the service and smoothies were delightful, but when you need to go to the toilet :( oh my gosh, I have seen cleaner toilets at the trainstation in New York. All in all a great experience, but we would not go back.

A very nice resort to begin with. View from the main lobby is breathtaking as we first stepped in when we arrive. Friendly staffs with good command of english awaits our arrival. Sweet spots with drinks & ice cream situated at few areas of the resorts are definitely a huge plus point for someone with sweet tooth like us. Breakfast buffet have a good wide spread of choices. Restaurants in the resort have very good food at a slightly higher end of pricing.

Ein wunderschönes Hotel zum relaxen und genießen! Man hat als Hotelgast seine eigene Villa mit eigenem Infinity Pool und ein Privatstrand mit eigener Bucht… ein großer Gemeinschafts-Pool wird gerade noch fertig gestellt. Aber das Besondere neben der tollen Ausstattung, der atemberaubenden Aussicht und dem coolen Ambiente, ist definitiv das superfreundliche, hilfsbereite und immer gut gelaunt Personal!!! Wir hatten eine unvergessliche Zeit und können dieses Hotel zu 100 % weiterempfehlen!!!

NOT A 5 STAR RESORT

The W Koh Samui is nowhere near a real 5-star hotel. Service is basically non-existent, management is poor, and the facilities do not match the price they charge.

On the beach, there is no one to assist you: no staff to hand out towels, no one taking food or drink orders, nothing resembling proper luxury service. Breakfast is chaotic — far too few tables for the number of guests, and most mornings we couldn’t even find a place to sit. The same issue happens at the pool: it is very small with a ridiculous number of sunbeds compared to the number of rooms. With two children, we often ended up without a single sunbed available.

Activities are also poorly handled: we wanted to rent a kayak, but only one was working while all the others were broken. We tried to book a table at the Japanese restaurant inside the resort and they couldn’t even accommodate us, another sign of bad organization.

Overall, the service is terrible, far from what you expect from a 5-star property. The only positive note is the girl at reception, who was helpful and genuinely kind. Apart from her, the entire place feels more like a mediocre 4-star at best.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a true luxury experience — it simply doesn’t deliver.

W’s airport transfer sent us to a wrong hotel which wasted 45min of our valuable time. Then we both got food poisoning at Nomu restaurant. We ended spent entire vacation in our room. This is a big disappointment as we looked forward to this Wedding Anniversary celebration. W Samui got a lot of work to do regarding the basic stuff like food and beverage and services.

244号室に6泊しました。部屋のプールからは海が見えてインフィニティエッジのプールと海が溶け込み最高にキレイでした。部屋のプールも大きく、ほとんどの時間を部屋で過ごしました。
特に良かったのはレストラン。朝ごはんはこれまで食べたどのブッフェより質も高く、メニューになくても作ってくれました。朝ごはんのブラッディーマリーは絶対飲むべきで。

W not as wonderful

Great view of the beach, great BF selection and nice private pool villa. We had inclusive package of cocktails, spa, and float me up! However, was a bit disappointed with the reception as our hostess Ammie just left us at the hot not air conditioned lobby without giving us a word on how long we have to wait! She wasn’t informative about the hotel activities.
We stayed at a jungle view villa:The tub tap water was yellow with sand, which wasn’t cleaned the next day! This is not acceptable for five star W resorts! This not our first W stay. Too bad for the little details not cared for~ .
