This stay was genuinely one of the best experiences we've had while traveling. Check-in was quick and efficient and parking was easy. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of fruit trees that you can eat from, benches and chairs and a fire pit to relax by. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated. We loved the lounge! We really appreciate that the hotel provided drinking water - most places seem to expect you to drink from a bathroom faucet. Breakfast was light and very high quality. The coffee was especially good! The room was very comfortable and also beautiful. The amenities were plentiful - shampoo and soap in the shower, slippers and extra blankets in the closet, a large fridge, and a mini bar if desired. The only problem we had was low water pressure for the hot water in the shower, but that was not a deal breaker for us. We enjoyed every interaction with the staff, and we are already looking forward to our next stay!

The property was very cute. But no parking. Had to park on residential street. Inconvenient.

The moment we opened the room door (room 117) we were overwhelmed by a very unpleasant odor. Mildew?

The pillows were incredibly uncomfortable because they had no give. Better as a back rest, making it very difficult to sleep.

Bad insulation as the people above us sounded like they were dragging furniture across the room (past midnight) Probably would not stay again.

The Astro is a delightful 1963 remodeled motel with lots of charm and attention to its classic furnishings and vibe. The exterior area and sculpture garden is beautiful. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. We really enjoyed the breakfast lounge area with its groovy sitting area that was conducive to great socializing and conversation. The breakfast was deliciously delightful in its simplicity. The Astro is a true gem in Santa Rosa nestled across the street from the beautiful Luther Burbank House and Gardens which make an excellent destination for an after breakfast stroll.

We loved our stay at the Astro! My partner and I stayed for one night with our dog. Betty was so friendly and helpful during check-in. The hotel is very thoughtfully decorated with art from local artists and the room had a really cute retro tiled shower. The fruit trees are gorgeous and the hotel is also located across the street from a nice large park. The only thing that I wished we had in the room was in-room coffee. Breakfast doesn’t start til 7 and there was no coffeemaker. Even a canned cold brew in the fridge for purchase would be super appreciated!

This is a great place for us and our small dog. It was a last minute stop in Santa Rosa on a west coast road. It turned out to be one of the best stops. We were given a quiet ground floor room with interesting, original art and colourful mid century decor. Those artistic touches were carried out on the courtyard where there were multiple garden rooms and sculptures to admire in the glorious greenery. The lounge was a step back in time with a Jetson’s touch and lux leather. The location is great right next to a well appointed park. The community gardeners and Bocce club were out in the far corner as we walked through.
It is less than a 10 minute walk to down town and the historic railroad district. Great shopping, dining and Peanut’s sculpture hunt. In the one block area of the motel the SOFA arts area was on display with murals and art studios and shops. Access to Bike trails are a block away and the city seems very bike friendly and safe. Hope they’ll get bike rentals nearby.
Our room had many local products and the breakfast was fresh fruit, great coffee, baked goods and delicious granola from the Spinster Sisters.
If you like a retro vibe with quality and originality, this is your spot to stop. For any fans on Hotel Zed in Tofino you’ll enjoy the same feel. Thanks to the General Manager for lots of tips. Sad we will miss the Happy Hours and Fire Pit nights starting up soon.

The Astro Motel is an absolute gem! The mid-century modern renovation is perfectly executed on the exterior and inside the rooms. The grounds are beautifully designed with lots of citrus, olive trees, grasses and pollinator-friendly plants. A couple of the original motel signs are incorporated into the landscape, too. Our room was sparkling clean...i know this because I spilled something on the floor within minutes of walking in. When I wiped up the spill, the towel had no dirt on it! I loved the simple breakfast of local granola, yogurt, fruit, pastries, coffee and tea. We met other friendly guests in the lounge which is open all day until 10 pm. All the staff was friendly, but a special shout out goes to Betty who took care of us like she was the owner. Don't miss out on the Astro's sister business, restaurant \"The Spinster Sisters\", which is a short walk away through an alley full of beautiful murals. We ate dinner there in their garden our first night and the experience was 10/10. Don't sleep on their new weekend brunch either! (See what I did there?) We can't wait to return to the Astro Motel!!!

I honestly didn’t expect much going in, but wow—this place completely blew me away. The stay was shockingly awesome from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and made everything feel easy and welcoming. One of the biggest perks was the location—super close to some amazing taco spots, all within walking distance, which made it perfect to grab a bite before heading out for the night. Everything was clean, comfortable, and just had a great vibe overall. Definitely a hidden gem—I’d stay here again without hesitation!

It's a great place if you have an event to go to during the day or are driving through. The staff were incredibly friendly. The bed was comfortable. The shower would have been wonderful except the water was always body temperature and never got hotter. I was freezing. Also, there was no coffee maker in the room and the lounge doesn't open until 7am. I was told there would be a coffee maker in the room but there was not. I get up early and would like to have coffee before the day starts.

Great location! My boyfriend and I were in town to see the best local Bay Area theater, the Imaginists which is located around the corner from the motel.

We also had a wonderful breakfast across the street at the Parkside Café, which you can walk to as well.

The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was beautifully decorated and spacious. I definitely recommend staying here.!

It's an average place to stay. It's located in aa good area. Park across the street. Luther Burbank Home and Garden across the street the other way. Around the block is the art district and a coffee house. It's a 10 minute walk to downtown. The breakfast sucks so don't even bother. There is a cafe across the street. The rooms are the bare minimum. The staff is very friendly. It's a funky place to stay with a nice garden court if you are tired of corporate motels.

Location and parking was easily accessible. I LOVED our room. It was very beautifully curated and clean. We stayed in a King Suite, which was very spacious. While I slept great and enjoyed the gardens outdoors, our room did not have hot water. We contacted the front desk and they quickly addressed the issue. Unfortunately, by the next morning, the hot water was out again. We stayed two nights, so I did not reach out again on the second day. I would love to stay here again, but not big on cold showers. This may have been a one off. Otherwise, property is lovely and in a great neighborhood.

Such a charming and well-located spot! The decor and grounds are lovely, and the simple breakfast (especially the coffee) really hits the spot. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The mattress and pillows were unbelievably comfortable—better than many 5-star hotels I’ve stayed in. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs, as some noise carries.

With a few small updates—like adding a double lock (!), fixing the musty smell, and putting in blackout blinds—this place would be improved.

There were two hairs on my pillow upon entering my room. The bed was made but the sheets were wrinkled it a way that didn’t make me feel like everything was washed?
The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were so tall and firm my neck hurt the next day. Overall, it looked well maintained but didn’t feel clean. No elevator, no help to carry bags upstairs.

I was excited to stay here and initial communication was great. Had requested a ground floor room due to mobility and received a msg back several days before our arrival that they had it all taken care of. Unfortunately when we arrived they had us upstairs and there were no more double rooms which is what I had booked. They then were going to give us 2 rooms, 1 upstairs and 1 down but only after I had told him the one bed would not work. We really wanted to stay together so ended up with a rollaway bed which really aren't meant for adults. I went in the next morning and talked to the manager who apologized and said she would look and see how she could compensate us for the issue. Seemed nice but never heard a word again. All on all a very frustrating and disappointing experience.
As for the room, it was clean. The bed is VERY firm, like caused body parts to fall asleep firm. The rollaway was short but the mattress was better. There was hair stuck to the blankets we were given for the rollaway, not pleasant to see. The pillows were quite fat, though one they brought for the rollaway was nice. The shower had decent water pressure though we struggled at first to figure out how to get the water hot, it's the button on the handle if you have that one that does it. The shower gel smelled and felt wonderful. AC is LOUD and rattles. Granola truly is as good as everyone says. Lots of yogurt flavors and muffins.
If we had received the room we booked it would have been an ok stay.

The property with somebody who took a motel, gave it a paint job through a picture on the wall thought it was really a cool mid-century look nothing like the things I’ve encountered in Palm Springs or other places where they put a lot more money into the rooms and the furnishings and the comfort. It just looked like a motel where they ripped out the carpet and tried to make it look something special, but to me it was absolutely underwhelming. If I knew what it was, I would’ve never reserved.

I saw some reviews on it being louder, I could see how if it was crowded that could be, but we stayed on a weekday and it was not crowded, and silent. Right next to a nice park. It was clean, the staff was friendly, I liked the retro feel of the property, but the decor in our room was literally stuff of nightmares (a painting of a bloody, dead man who had been crushed by broken slabs of concrete). The staff removed the painting when I asked them to, especially as I was traveling with my two young kids. But that was highly unexpected and will honestly probably prevent me from booking here again.

I didn’t have daily room service, so when I ate all the toom snacks, I didn’t really get the VIP daily allowance and was charged. But I did enjoy the cherries growing in their courtyard. I liked the funky decor but the concrete floor was very cold, and only a tiny rug on one side of the bed. They advertise a 'continental breakfast' but it was only yogurt and granola, apples and oranges. I was unable to eat that. A continental breakfast should include pastries or something. We like to eat prior to getting back on the road, so this was inconvenient and misleading.
Bed was very comfortable though.
