An Oasis of Calm

Carmel Forest was amazing—like stepping into another world. Tranquil, beautiful, and relaxing. I came to stay and visit friends nearby but next time would come and never leave the property. Love the policy of allowing guests to arrive early and stay after checking out to use the facilities. Dining was delightful; I especially liked the evening dinner menu included with half board. Spa facilities were expansive and service was five star!

A 4-stars hotel with a PR of a 7-stars

The building is old and unpleasant (brutalist concrete), we waited a lot to check in, the room (Carmel Deluxe) was small, the food is okay, not great as expected from a 5-stars hotel, the pool was overly crowded, etc...
Overall this is a 4-STAR hotel at best with a PR of better one. We have been in many hotels in Israel and were usually happy. This time we felt we must warn others.

Very enjoyable overall, has room for improvement.

The outside location is really great. The garden maintenance is top notch. Rooms are ok but need renovation imho. Pool area is great as well. Relaxing. Spa treatment was very good. Tennis court not in a great shape with no fence, kept looking for the balls. Breakfast is very good, dinner not much so, more like above average restaurant, not 5 stars hotel. Service overall was very attentive but not very competent.

For that price they should be better

It is a lovely place with very good location and good food but for ~900$ per night the resort had to be superb, and it didn't:
•The reception was slow.
•The evening menu didn't change from day to day
•The gym is much too small for a hotel this size and at time was Crowded
•Even that we have a massage treatment at checkout time they were unable to give us a 1 hour late checkout, or didn't really trayed

We stayed 2 nights, and enjoyed every moment.The hotel is very nice and well kept. Covid- restricions are carefully applied. There is plenty of space inside and outside and there are 2 excellent swimming pools. The outdoors pool is sitated in the middle of a large beautiful park. The hotel was at full capacity and there was no room for any spa treatments the whole time we were there - the only option we were given was when we had to be in breakfast. Check in took a long time and then we were sent elsewhere to book in meal times where it was written down by hand - a bit ridiculous in today's climate of computers and when no one wants to hang around in lobbies. By the time we got to our rooms and put our bags down and went to the spa nothing was left. This is a spa hotel and if the hotel is full capacity bring in more people to do treatments ! Overall it is a pleasant place great food but there are a lot of small things that need tweaking and improving. When the guest relations lady finally called me she tried to turn the whole conversation around blaming me for all of the issues - and saying that if I had club membership it would not have happened - I do have club membership but had to book through hotels. com bc there was no room directly !!! Suggest the manager goes undercover or sends someone to check everything since there were many small things that could have been avoided

Food was great as usual.
Great to enjoy a BBQ again at the Carmel Spa.
It was always a wonderful occasion but seems to have been off the menu since the Gaza War in 2014.
Great to have it back !
Serving staff in Restaraunt are a different level to the staff that have been in the restaurant the last few times we have stayed.
Very welcome improvement.
Leisure facilities are still lovely.
Rooms could do with an update and the bathrooms are now fairly ordinary.
Still it’s a wonderfully peaceful resort which I look forward to visiting every year.

This place was an absolute joke. It was horrible. There were previous guests' open beverages in our fridge. Keys didn't work twice. Cups filled with cigarette butts and garbage all over the place. Booked twin beds, got a full. Told they would remedy, never did. Used loofa pads in the shower in the filthy treatment room. Couldn't wait to leave. Very disappointed.

Superbly run spa

We are very seasoned travellers who are used to staying in top class hotels. We cannot fault this spa that is set in immaculately kept grounds. The management is excellent, as demonstrated by the efficient checkin, despite arriving at peak time on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Service in the dining room was friendly and well organised. The food was abundant and delicious. Despite being full, it was always possible to find a shady or sunny spot to relax. We have stayed here many times over the years and were delighted to find that it is even better than ever.

This will always be considered as a home from home.
Very obliging for a early check in,but as it is a very popular the Reception area gets very crowded.As so many are like us are very regular visitors a 'frequent guest' pass system should be considered.Although the resort is spotlessly clean the amenities/furnishings are looking a little tired.The food as always is superb.The dining staff do have a habit of serving the main course whilst you are still earing your starters,and often plates are removed from from diners who have finished eating whilst other diners are still eating.
These of course are relatively minor issues but shoukd be addressed.

Amazing relaxing hotel in a remote forest

My husband and I LOVE this hotel! The facilities are great- they offer many classes and the spa is incredible. We have had the best massages of all time here- highly recommend the millennium massage (4 hands massage). The food is amazing and healthy and they offer many options at each meal. The only complaint we have is that there is no lunch included in the price. For such an expensive hotel, 3 meals should be included or at least some small dishes available from 1-3pm such as salads and sandwiches free of charge. The rooms are small, but very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. The bathroom is great and the shower pressure is incredible. Another complaint I had is that we told the hotel it was our anniversary and they did not offer anything complimentary to us. The best part of the hotel is the no phone policy and no kids allowed- making the hotel very quiet and relaxing. If you are looking for a romantic, relaxing and tranquil getaway, this is the place for you. The breathtaking views of the forest and its remote location add to the romantic atmosphere. Love this place!!

We had high expectations due to reviews that we read, but were disappointed with our stay at Carmel Forest. The food was on par with that of a 2 star resort in the states, the service was mediocre (needed multiple follow up calls to get room clean, could not get a straight answer on when & if the wine bar was open - which it never was), Beds were small, AC heat/didnt work properly, among a number of other minor annoyances that we would not have expected given the price, ratings, and other reviews. We gave the feedback to the hotel upon leaving, but were met with a shrug and a \"sorry\". On the positive side, the spa was great. We enjoyed the massages (ask for Alana!) and the pool/jacuzzi area was very relaxing. While it is probably the best place to stay in the area, I would not expect a pampering luxury all inclusive weekend out of Carmel Forest Spa.

The room was lovely as was the patio area. They had a nice welcome gift. Breakfast in Israeli hotels is usually a grand affair but this may have been the best I've seen and I've been to some nice Israeli hotels. Dinner was okay but not wonderful. They are heavy on the sauces. We had such large breakfasts that we didn't have lunch so I can't comment on that. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price. Be aware that the resort is kosher so there is no mixing of meat and dairy at any meals (breakfast being dairy and dinner being meat) and there are no pork or shelled seafood dishes (fish is not considered seafood). The spa services were very nice and there was a decent choice of services including several for expectant mothers. The pool was large but I wish the area and pool were warmer. It poured while we were there so I didn't have a chance to explore the grounds. The majority of the visitors are Israeli, not tourists from other countries so I found the ability to speak English was not as widespread as in some other hotels but certainly good enough. I would recommend this place.

Beautiful hotel set in a nature reserve

This is a great hotel to relax and rejuvenate. People are not allowed to speak on their phones in the public areas. There is a spa (which we didn't use), indoor and outdoor pools, tennis court, group exercises in meditation, Tai Chi etc. As well the food is terrific - as someone who only has kosher, it was a revelation to be able to eat with a great Israeli breakfast, and great dinners - with a main course and desert you can choose. We will go back again.
If you are driving up, be aware of the winding narrow road when you turn off the main road.

We spent two nights. Was fabulous. Outstanding food, great service. Enjoyable workshops. Best experience ever.. Most people spend their day walking around in the white robes and slippers the hotel provides for each guest. The spa treatments were the best we experienced ever, whole atmosphere calls for relaxation, and pampering. No speaking on cell phones allowed in public areas, and no kids allowed, true lot remarkable experience.

The hotel charged me more than the stated Expedia rate, adding VAT to the rate although Expedia mentioned taxes are included. Generally its a nice hotel, but it isn't maintained like a 5 star hotel. Food isn't that good. Rooms are so so, bed is too hard. A/C is loud. Felt too crowded around the pool when the hotel was at full capacity.

The hotel needs a renovation. The balconies in the rooms aren't separted.
You should make a reservation in advance for the spa, otherwise it is full. The food is nice, but not more than that (maybe because we visited in Shabat).

Disappointments !

Very relaxing place and yet too many points of disappointments. During check out we tried to tell the staff about our disappointments but the lady didn't want to listen to us so she asked me to put it in the internet.
Here are only some of the points:
- They made a mistake in check in and asked us to pay ~15% higher price than we should have. It took them about an half hour to find their mistake.
- The sheets in the room were stained and not so clean.
- We called the restaurant to reserve for dinner exactly as requested when checked in, and been told we can have dinner only at 9 PM which was very late for us. We want dinner at 7 or max 8 but they decide alone when we can eat.
- They promised to call us if they have an earlier table, but although the restaurant was empty no one called . Because of the too late hour we didn't enjoy the food at all .
- the bathroom in the room has no ventilation at all. It is horrible.
- The bathroom door in the room is made of glass so if you turn on the light at night you wake up your partner who is sleeping in bed.
- the coffee products in the room are so old that you need a hammer to break it before you try to melt it into hot water. Disgusting!

The place is beautiful and enjoyable, but it is not meeting the expectations of level of service. Go there only if you are willing to pay lots of money and align your expectations one level down.

The Hotel is in a rural forest area. Grounds are beautifully kept. We stayed over one night. The 3 meals were all inclusive and delicious. We had a healthy mix of active relaxation. Walking in the mountains and exercise classes (yoga) and relaxing by the pool and spa treatments. The resort is serious about people not speaking on their cell phones in public areas and the guests were respectful of the policy.

Only thing missing is bar service at the pool.

1. Overall room equipment begins to be out of date, be it beds/chairs on the terrace, bathroom design. Renovation is urging to keep up to expectations from first year (1999).
2. Command of English by restaurant staff appalling; service chaotic as they run in all directions and are not in charge of a given number of tables. Example to follow given to responsible in charge of PR : Hotel Bereshit in Mitzpe Ramon
3. Response to guest requests unsatisfactory : it took 2 calls to get a specific type of pillow, one in the morning, the 2nd one in the evening.
