Beautiful property, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms. We had an amazing experience at El Dorado Maroma. The property was gorgeous- well maintained and so many beautiful plants and flowers. The staff was so helpful and kind and most of them spoke English well which we really appreciated. The restaurants were all al a carte- so you order off a menu instead of a buffet. This makes meals move a bit slower but that forces you to relax and take in the scenery. The restaurant staff were all extremely careful about food allergies. Several pools, two of which had swim up bars. Their “more inclusive” plan means our transportation to and from the airport was included as well as a trip to a ranch with a cenote. They also include a catamaran snorkeling trip and day trip to a water park which we did not do. Some of these “extras” were only offered on certain days so I recommend staying a full week to take advantage of all they offer. We also enjoyed live music by the pool, daily crafts and a fire show in the beach. The beach- beautiful soft white sand and plenty of comfortable cabanas and lounge chairs and umbrellas. Unfortunately there was TONS of seaweed on the beach. Apparently it was the season for it and this is a problem in all of riviera maya and Cancun area. The staff worked hard every morning to clear as much as they could. Overall a great experience- would definitely return!

The El Dorado Maroma was an overall great resort. My family of had a great trip. The resort grounds were pretty and well taken care of. The beach was amazing! The food was great, for sure get the pizza and tacos during lunch! All the activities included with “More Inclusive” were so fun and saved a lot of money. The entertainment team was fun, they had activities all day to participate in. The resort never felt too crowded, which we loved! Would 100% go back!

From start to finish we were underwhelmed. Ineffective pickup at airport that they use a third party for. Old property that has a sad aesthetic and no vibe happening. Everything is go get in line at this deal, for that another desk— like being on a cruise. Food was fine, drinks were made from cheap concentrate. Told staff how disappointed we were and got no response. Checked out early. No refund. Will not be going back.

El Dorado Maroma is one of if not the best all inclusive resorts I have been ever been to. The food was exceptional; the grounds and facilities were impeccable and all the staff was fantastic. My husband and I were also impressed by the quality of the musicians and entertainers that performed at the resort. The mexican party on the beach was really special and the mariachi band was outstanding. The included catamaran tour with snokeling on the nearby reef where we got to see an impressive amount of tropical fish and aquatic creatures like sea turtles and rays was one of the highlights of our stay.
We also appreciated that it was easy to get seating anywhere on the grounds (around the pools and on the beach) without having to reserve a spot early in the day and the covered sun beds were available at no extra charge.
The beach was beautiful and, although there was an obvious sargassum (seaweed) problem in the area, the resort cleaned the beach daily to remove most of it and minimize the impact the seaweed could have had on the enjoyment of the beach.
The main pool was great although it could get quite loud at certain times of the day so having another quieter pool was nice.
We particularly enjoyed the yoga sessions but were disappointed that they were not offered daily.
My only complaint was that the fees for a massage or other treatments at the spa were very high (more than twice the price of a similar treatment back home) and this dissuaded us from using their services.

This is our second stay at an El Dorado Resort and we will definitely be going back. One year ago we stayed at the El Dorado Royale, and that property had three resorts on it - beautiful, but a lot of walking. The El Dorado Maroma had a much better beach, but the property with the Royale and the Casitas had more pools.
We enjoyed that this resort was smaller and had less people, but still had all the great restaurants, entertaining shows, and the staff went out of their way to get us whatever we needed.
We had a wedding ceremony on the beach in Maroma, and it was beautiful! Everything was perfect - this was our favorite vacation spot yet!

Please don’t be mislead by negative reviews regarding the service and quality of the resort. First please understand the model of the hotel which yes it’s tight security but are you telling me you don’t appreciate that? The quality of all food you will eat already included in your nightly stay is really incredible. Yes small portions but quality is more important. I can find one time in 5 days that staff didn’t say hello. So we understand the tipping process in which services are delivered which is customary in the US. You can trust pretty much anyone to get you change for your US dollars. We enjoyed this resort!

The grounds, the staff, and the facilities were all excellent. Only a couple things need improvement and that would be the beach and a buffet. The beach next door was cleaned with a tractor and this one was hand raked. The tractor had a by far, cleaner beach. The lack of a buffet on property meant a limited breakfast and lunch menu which was pretty identical to the other restaurant on property and an hour for each meal. I would have liked a grab and go option to ordering. Regardless, we would definitely return.

We picked this all-inclusive, because it is well-rated for service, food and is noted for being a quiet, all adult resort, with a great beach. We were not disappointed - we had a rejuvenating relaxing beach holiday. There was a bit of a sales pitch, when booking our dinner reservations, for their vacation club, but we were firm in letting them know, thank you, but, no thank you, and that was the end of the sales pitch, so no issues. Overall, good value for our time and money. Recommend. :)

Place is elite. Access to beach is so close to rooms and restaurants. Service is next level. Francisco and Carlos best bar tenders. Manuel and Marco so helpful setting up beach chairs. The house win is good and if u want to upgrade lots of options. The ability to eat so close to the beach at two restaurants. This is a great place if u don’t want to walk a lot and enjoy great service. Not a mega size hotel but I liked the more intimate higher quality food and service. Highly recommend and hope to go again. Miss it already!!!

I didn't see a hot tub. But I did use the spa that has a jacuzzi hot tub and cold plunge pool. The bars (plural) are fully stocked and the bar tenders are friendly and pour nicely.

Bar none, the nicest resort I’ve ever been to. The staff is amazing. Very friendly people and they really go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with whatever you’re doing or enjoying. The rooms and grounds are impeccable. The food is exceptional. Great service everywhere you go including the beach. My only complaint is their prices at the spa are outrageous. Ballpark $300 for a 90 minute massage is offensive. Other resorts I’ve been to offer the same services for $80. In the NYC area it’s $90-$130 and it’s done by certified massage therapists.

Pros: Very friendly staff. Very delicious food. Beautiful beach. Cons: pool floors are slick tile. Our in room AC leaked condensation into one of our suitcases. The toilet in our room leaked at the floor. No night life! Have to make reservations for dinner each night. Reservations and times were mostly booked up for what we wanted to do. For all-inclusive there were lots of upsells and offers for “additional” services. Expedia gold membership was supposed to get us an automatic upgraded room. When they attempted to upsell our room and I told them we automatically get upgraded because of our gold tier status, they said the upgrade was unavailable. Then he told us we were already upgraded. Yet we were in the least expensive room they offered. Some arrangements had to be made with different representatives. Airport transfer at one desk, use at the included water park Nextdoor at another building, get bags brought down for our departure another building, reservations for dinners back to the other building. Crazy! Overall, still a good experience. Beautiful beach! Great staff! Good food. Just some things could have been better handled. It was still a nice vacation that we enjoyed.

We were very happy with all the additional perks, including the hotel transportation and the catamaran and snorkeling tour. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They worked hard every morning to clear any sargassum that accumulated on the beach. The spa services were top notch and we enjoyed the food at each restaurant. Make sure you visit the Taqueria for lunch. We would definitely recommend staying here!

I think it is a property that should have more exposure. There is nice long clean beaches that has trees and shade. The beach doesn't have waves. Which makes it swimable out front. They have lifeguards. I didnt know that there has activities include like the waterpark, catamaran, and two water pools in the jungle. The food is amazing, you dont sign the room number. No beach vendors. Many a places to drink and eat. Amazing food no buffet.

Excellent hotel in the Riviera Maya! The beach is amazing nothing compared with CanCun/Playa del Carmen, it is just a paradise. The hotel is great, amazing service, everyone goes the extra mile to make the guests feel comfortable and happy. The food was outstanding (for an all inclusive standards). The activities included (Catamaran/cenetos/cave/waterpatk) were great. If you want to treat yourself with a massage, don’t hesitate to book one, the facilities are great and the service was outstanding.
Definitely this is not a party destination (everything closes between 10-11) instead wants a relax time in a great place then this might be a great option.

Quiet and small property. About a half hour from airport in a very secluded forest area. Only other resorts around. Beautiful grounds. Everything is spread out but it’s relatively smaller property. Staff great. Pool area is nice. The beach is nice however there was a lot of seaweed at the time we went so it was not desirable to swim in the ocean. The food and drinks were mid. Not bad but not amazing. The staff were all super nice but not everything was communicated well as far as activities, events, menus, times things opened and closed etc. The place shuts down after dinner time so there isn’t much going on. They had nightly entertainment but it was meh. Room was very nice and clean. We stayed in junior suite with partial ocean view. No complaints about facility or rooms.

We stayed in this property 10 years ago, and went back to it to find a place to spend frequent weekend breaks, thinking that the place would probably had changed a lot in a way that it could be a bit less appealing. Nothing farther than the truth, they have improved a lot while keeling the quiet and exclusive feeling of the resort. All the staff is very friendly and more than helpful, proactive, and the new approach to an \"all inclusive\" package that basically now included most of the things that used to have extra cost, is amazing. The hotel is super clean, and all the restrooms have A/C and always smell good and are kept dry and well equipped. The spa is an amazing experience, worth every dollar spent, and in general all the services, including the airport transportation are very very professional and safe, exceeding our expectations by far. In the Dorado Maroma, the Lomas group is doing an amazing job, and that includes the services provided right next door at the Maroma beach club, creating a uniform and high-quality experience for visitors, in such a transparent way, with the same standards suitable for demanding customers.
For sure we will be back, and now are considering a membership, as this is a perfect spot to relax, and besides what nature provides, Lomas brings up the rest to make it possible. Congratulations to all the team!

We spent our honeymoon here at El Dorado Maroma. The views are breathtaking, service is usually amazing, although we did have a couple waiters who missed a few steps occasionally( like not bringing us breakfast pastries basket when all other tables got one.) The have a great selection of food and alcohol included, Patron, 1800, good options. The main pool area is quite loud, and could be heard from inside our private pool suite, so we spent most of our time at another pool in a quieter area. (They did offer to move us for $100/per night upgrade). The catamaran boat tour with snorkeling was very interesting and we saw the second largest coral reef with a giant sea turtle! The property did need some upgrades in furniture that isn’t damaged and new carpet, but the rest of the resort was in good shape. I wouldn’t recommend the provided transportation as it took us over two hours after arriving to the van to actually get to our hotel, but overall a very pleasant experience and a great choice in Playa del Carmen. The landscaping and tropical gardens really won us over, as well as the resorts smaller scale in comparison to the mega resorts.

At times we felt like we had the hotel all to ourselves, we are most definitely coming back. It’s a bit of a drive from the airport but they offer transportation which made it a lot easier. We’ve stayed here multiple times. We really like the small size of the resort and quality food. There did seem to be a drop off in the quality of service. I asked the concierge 2 days in a row to book us a reservation and it never happened. I also mentioned a few issues with the room that were minor but were never addressed. At dinner we had a bottle of wine that we ordered and it was court so we sent it back. They never offered other options so we went the entire meal without a bottle of wine which I would gladly have purchased. The house wine options are not very good which is fine because they do have bottles you can purchase. Not sure what changed since the last few times we have been, but we likely will try other places. The location, size, and grounds are great.

Perfect all inclusive for a relaxing getaway. The staff was great, very attentive, the beach is incredible, the amenities are such that there is no reason to actually leave the resort outside of the included activities like the cenotes etc. Food is decent, not amazing. The brunch at the day club was the best, mostly everything else is pre-made and heated up, so there is a noticeable difference in quality between a 7:00 reservation and a 9:30 reservation, but overall I would absolutely return.

They really went out of their way in everything they did. This property is well taken care of. The staff was so amazing. They catered to our needs. We would definitely stay there again. The beach is beautiful and always well taken care of. The food was excellent. I loved that they did not have buffets like some of the other all inclusives. The whole staff goes above and beyond.

The El Dorado Maroma sits on a pristine beachside property. It has incredible food options, views, service, and pools. Breakfasts are unbeatable, featuring authentic Mexican cuisine, while lunches and dinners provide excellent options at Caribbean, Peruvian, and Italian restaurants, each with dishes to compete with the best restaurants anywhere. The waiters are always friendly, and the service staff helpful. Look for Arturo at Pepito's for especially friendly service. That guy's the best!

We had our honeymoon here 17 years ago. It's still as wonderful as it was then. Beautiful, peaceful, the staff is lovely and helpful. The food is fantastic. The only tiny complaint I have is that the music is too loud we talked to several guest who would prefer to have softer relaxing music no need for base. And no need for music on the beach during the day you can usually find a quiet spot but I think limiting that would help. Everything else is perfection. It's not a party place and we love that about it. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for such a lovely week!!

The resort is absolutely stunning and very clean. The resort itself had wonderful landscaping and the pool areas were great. Lots of places to lounge, including lovely cabanas for resting near the ocean. The beach was gorgeous, with white sand that never got hot under your feet.

The Cenote/Ranch trip was less enjoyable. The cenote was fine, but not exceptional, although we liked our guide. The Ranch part of it was very detailed introductions to each horse and a long explanation of types of horse shoes and what they are used for. We didn't really enjoy that part.
