The walls are paper thin and we could plainly hear the conversation of the people in the adjacent room as well as in the hallways.

There was a fair amount of light coming in from the doorway and we had to put pillows and blankets around the door to block the bright hallway light.

Room was clean. Location of the hotel was fantastic. However parking was a nightmare when we arrived at around 3pm. The dedicated lot is very small and it was full so we had to look for parking on the street. But fortunately we got a spot on the lot later in the day in the evening. Other than the parking issue everything was great. There are plenty of places to eat but make reservations or else you might be waiting for long time.

All that worked very well. Parking was easy and since it is winter, no need for air. Power was off for days, luckily came on at 7:30pm on the day we checked in. Not anyones fault though. The hotel sraff was very accommadating.

The room was a good size but the doors in the bathroom and the closet didn’t close completely and would open randomly, the pillows were too hard, very small bathroom and our room was very noisy being next to the street with garbage service early morning…it was very nice that we were given cold bottle of champagne on ice and glasses on arrival for my partners birthday…we always enjoy eating at I’ll Fornaio, one of our favorites in Carmel

No heat in the room. They don’t turn in on until about 6pm an the turn it off during the night. It was cold in our room.
Also a lot of stairwell were not aware of and the staff wa not helpful. We would never stay here again.

Unable to sleep, mattress has sink holes in pillow top, aggravated my sciatica and gave me a miserable next day. Hub could not sleep either. Beautiful room! Clean bathroom! Big showerhead, hot water, good pressure.
Loved towels. Super Front Desk staff, wonderful lobby seating areas, loved the parking. Easy walking distance to all. But who cares about all that if you can't sleep? Friends in other hotel had better ocean view and did not pay for it. No way to relax and enjoy view, have to move chair and stand to see it. Also, windows from several rooms open onto walkable roof, easy to break into rooms if window is open. I would stay again in a heartbeat if you get new mattresses.

King Suite did not match the picture, seemed a much lesser room. Sheets very scratchy. Bathroom sink barely drained. No coffee maker in the room. Very noisy street sounds early in the morning.(Garbage trucks, large vehicle back-up beeps both mornings. Not at all the experience we were expecting.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay. The heater didn’t seem to work in room although I didn’t really have an absolute need for it. Room was VERY clean! Even though older it was clean in every corner.

Only room for improvement was in the desk people. While kind enough, they did not take a personal interest in my questioning the heat in the evening. Just said “yeah, I would just turn it to that symbol “. Which I was questioning the meaning of the symbols. The best response from them would have been, “we’ll send someone up to help you”.

The Pine Inn is a historic hotel. For the price we paid and location of the hotel-in the heart of Carmel, it was fine but I would not recommend. Rooms did not have fridges or coffee makers and very few electrical outlets. Biggest complaint was that sheets and towels smelled like wet dog. Cleanliness of carpet at furniture also questionable. No a/c which is uncommon in Carmel but our room was stuffy. Hotel did provide fan which helped. Also, parking is nightmare especially on weekends. We arrived Saturday afternoon and had to find street parking for two hours and then keep checking back until a spot was available on hotel lot.

If you like old properties with good historical context, or have been to Europe and stayed in some of their older properties, then this place is for you. Great location, limited parking, and some really interesting period pieces for furnishings. Price of anything in Carmel is pretty high, so take $$$$ in stride. Don't miss their restaurant!

The shopping and dining options were excellent. All within easy walking conditions. There was available parking across the street. What we didn't like was being woken up at 2am by a beetle landing on my ear and then getting into my shirt. There was also no air conditioning in this room.

The plumbing made a lot of noise, even from other rooms, it kept me up at night. The service was terrible as well. When I complained to the desk clerk about it, they just told me to take it up with Expedia.

My room was on the 3rd floor, no elevator. There was no coffee available in the morning with out asking for it, which was given begrudgingly. Overall, not a pleasant experience.

They did not service our room, we had to request clean towels and soap. The room was average clean.
Limited parking first come first serve, slim possibility to park your car in the hotel parking. Old TV not enough channels.

It really needs renovation. The sound from in between the locked door to adjoining room was unacceptable. We could hear conversations in the next room at normal conversation volume. The carpeting in the hallways was stained in multiple places. Shampooing would likely help, but my guess is that the stains have been there for months.

This place is really worn down and looks “dirty” even when clean. Rooms are really small and feel cramped. This time they felt stuffy too, with little air circulation and no AC. Fan helped but couldn’t keep window open due to noise. No coffee maker or any amenities in room. No coffee or other freebies in the lobby. Overall feels like a cheap motel. If not for the location and convenience of 1-night stays, wouldn’t stay here at all.

We have stayed here before, but this was our anniversary. After returning from dinner, a short while later there was a knock on the door and there stood a staff member with an ice bucket and a bottle of champagne!

This place is an absolute gem. It is right in the middle of all of the art galleries, boutique shopping, and restaurants all within walking distance from the hotel. I honestly cannot say enough about this place other than this will always be our hotel whenever we visit the area! Five stars?...I wish I could give SIX!!!

This is a charming and unique experience in a historical inn. However, the history of the building was the only positive aspect of our stay.
I was disappointed in the lack of care, attention and kindness of staff.
The carpet throughout the entire inn needs attention. Our room was dirty. A pill and dirty a-tip on the floor, a candy wrapper on the chair and makeup smears on the mirror were not very welcoming as we entered the room.
The bathroom door did not close all the way and there were deliveries and glass bottle noises below us right outside the window as late as 1am. Worst nights’ sleep we have had on our week long stay up the PCH. Disappointing for the price.

Stayed one night amidst a longer road trip. Front desk staff was nice and helpful, but I was disappointed with the room for the amount spent. It was very small and outdated. I know that many other inns in Carmel are like this (you stay there for the location, charm, history, etc. vs the amenities), and I can appreciate that, but I’m glad we only stayed for one night… they were also doing work on the roof directly outside our window a majority of the day we were there which didn’t contribute anything positive to our overall experience.

Overall, a fine experience, but if traveling to Carmel again, I’d look to book elsewhere.

What I love the most is the professional service from Michael receptionist, the other staff.

I love spend on hotel for interior design and facility. Unfortunately, my room our heater doesn't work and I got a small heat instead and also I feel the hotel could invest in soap, shampoo, conditioner, ears cotton to have a better quality and package to be match with the price they charge. Which is not worth for me to paid $275 for 1 night. (This price is after discount)

I booked pine inn because the neighborhood is wonderful, though the pine inn itself needs some updating. The property seems in poor condition. Room feels dirty very dated & worn furniture as well as brown dirty carpets and worn bedding. I paid for a ocean view which was blocked by scaffolding. Unfortunately it left me feeling taken advantage of being that I paid extra for the view. The staff seem tolerant but complacent. Parking is limited and you may have to find street parking as there is not much \"free\" hotel parking.
