Quick and easy check in and check out, with pleasant staff! It’s a simple inn with locks and keys. The room is a bit small but it’s a quick drive to all the nice places in Monterey. Seems a bit on the older end but it was fine for what my friends and I were there for. I would stay here again and recommend it

It's the same color as the floor and not readily visible. Perhaps a sign on or next to the door with a warning and/or different color tile or rubber matting to make it stand out better. I know I tripped a bit the first time but a hard enough trip would launch you head first into the toilet and floor resulting in a severe injury

That's a good place for a value with convenient location, clean rooms and all needed basic amenities. Friendly stuff and pretty quiet outside. The only thing to keep in mind is that place is relatively old and has a poor noise isolation. You're going to hear almost everything what is going on in your neighbor rooms like TV, loud conversations and how people move in their rooms. Just be ready for that.

This is my second stay at Monterey Pines. I rebooked at Monterey Pines because my first experience was great. My second experience was good. Very clean room. I felt safe there and I stayed for three nights. The only drawback was the room next to mine had an endless stream of people coming in and out, laughing,partying, and extremely loud for the late time of night. This was on my second night of stay.

This place is definitely family owned! I'm not sure if the older gentleman was the owner or manager but he had his granddaughter waiting for a video call from overseas ❤️ it was so sweet! They have doggie biscuits for your vacationing furry family members. There is also the sweetest cutest little dog there sometimes! The lobby smells lovely, like incense and roses. The room was on the smaller side but you absolutely cannot beat it for the price and the location. It has a nice little wall heater that kept us toasty and we had no issues with the TV reception or the WiFi.Very very clean with attentive housekeeping! It's right across the street from Del Monte Center, and DMC is basically THE mall for the Monterey Peninsula.

This is the cutest older motel around. I called and told them we would be in late, so they arranged for our key to be in a lockbox. The room is cute, I love love love the fireplace, it is gas, so no smoke smell. It is very quiet and the staff was super friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

We were so impressed with this property! We had a king sized bed with a fireplace in our room on the first floor - what else could anyone want? The property itself has abundant, beautiful flowering plants all around it, some of which my groundskeeper-husband had never seen before. If we ever come back to this side of the country, we'll stay here, no doubt. The owner/manager and staff were extremely helpful as well. Thanks so much!

Flooring/Carpet was soft to the feet. The pillows wete wonderful - even extra pillows without asking. Fireplace worked great. Very hot water - which was very appreciated on a rainy day. These older motels on Munras are often a bit funky, but location is on a bus line if you don't want to hike back uphill from the beach area. You will hear the occasional sirens as the street is a fairly busy one. No elevator to second floor, but the room was a great place to relax and get a good night's sleep!

It was a very neat and quiet hotel, stayed there for 2 nights with my significant other. No complaints, very clean and spacious. The only thing I'd like to point out is that we went during the week of Thanksgiving, and the nights were cold. The heater was working but it was rather weak - had to keep on the whole night to stay warm. Other than that, a very comfortable stay. Close to Monterey downtown and Carmel, which is very convenient. And it's right next to a shopping center!

We booked 5-6 rooms for our family as we were getting married and being $225 per night, we didn’t think it would be lower than Motel 6 quality. Upon check in, we were notified that the power would be out from 8am-5pm and were not offered any type of apology, credit or anything. The hotel room was OK. My room had a jacuzzi tub that was cracked, the top button was broken off, there was water damaged wood all around the tub, and the floors were absolutely filthy. I walked on the floor of the hotel room and my feet were literally black. I asked the front desk if someone could come clean the floor and his response was “Ma’am, the floors are cleaned daily.” Which is impossible being as how black my feet and socks were. I asked for a mop and he wouldn’t give me one. We were outside at 8 pm enjoying the weather and chit chatting and were asked to keep it down….at 8 pm… I went to take a shower at midnight and there was not hot water. I tried to sleep and wasn’t able so I tried again at 2 am, then again at 5 am and NO HOT WATER!?!?! Finally, at 8:50 am I was able to take a hot shower and get some sleep. Someone kept coming to blow the walkways about 5 x with a blower when all room windows/doors were open. It was loud and dirty. I’m super disappointed in my stay and the price I paid to not be able to shower, walk barefoot in my room, or enjoy the company of my family. Probably one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever experienced in my life. Use this place as a LAST resort at all costs!

The place was like build on the 80’s and that’s what it looks like today! My kids loved the fun of seeing something different. But the tub was in the room not in the bathroom as well as the sink. The jets I. The tub wouldn’t work. But even that the room was for a couple and I had my two kids with me they were liked it. No Pool, no breakfast but clean, and front desk people was very accommodating and nice. I already told some people they should go there!

I planned a 2 wk \"bucket list\" trip w/ my dad who is 81, can't do stairs & uses a scooter to go > 50 ft. A friend asked to join the trip w/ her husband & her mom who is 77 & can't do stairs either. In January 2022 I made a reservation at Monterey Pines Inn for 2 rooms for 5/21 & wrote in the special requests “Traveling with elderly. First floor please. And if the rooms could be close to each other that would be great.” I contacted the hotel directly on May 10th, 4 days before we left on our trip to confirm we had a 1st floor & handicap rooms if they were available. The person I talked to told me he switched our rooms so we would be guaranteed to have handicap rooms & the rooms would be on the 1st floor. This was super important since the Inn doesn't have an elevator. Upon arrival we found out that our handicap, 1st floor rooms were given to someone else the day before. He said it was an emergency. Not only that, but now 1 of our rooms was upstairs. We tried reasoning w/ him for 20 min. that this was unacceptable & that the room had been guaranteed on 5/10. Given the time of day we didn't have a lot of choice & were forced to take the rooms. So now my friend & I had to explain to both parents who only met 7 days prior that they would need to share a room because there was no way for one of them to get to room upstairs. I’m a fluent Hindu translator, I hate to say that the owners would go into their room(which ISNT soundproof btw) and talk about my husband and I in Hindu and it was not appreciated. Online said $100 deposit but when we got there they tried to change it to $300??? There was mold in the tub so we did not shower there. There was also no lock on the door!! We had to cancel out two nights and change it to one and get a hotel elsewhere. Inn at 1252 next door was very pleasant, clean, and comfy!!

typical 70s style motel. Our room was on the end and pretty cool when we got there. We eventually found there was a little heater in the wall behind a grill. Still needed more, a visit to front desk produced fleecy blanket and electric heater, so we are not the first to have a problem. Apart from that all fine

Disappointing and bad for the price
I booked this hotel because it has a 8.2 rating and a good amount of 10.0 reviews...but I have NO IDEA how those ratings are correct - this hotel was trash! I'm a realistic hotel guest and reviewer, and I'm stumped. The quality did not match the price of over $100 a night. No key card system, real keys which is quaint, but ridiculous in this age and the keys are labeled with hotel name and your room number; hope you don't lose it somewhere. The bath fixtures were quite clean, but the old carpet was scuzzy and had a white stain near the end of the bed from someone's 'fun' time; why wasn't this cleaned?? Walked in and it was musty and smelled of smoke, regardless of the 'no smoking' sign, it had a cigarette burn in the top decorative blanket-what cleaning staff would leave a burned blanket on the bed?? Room was above staff areas, which is prob where the smoke smell was wafting from. Stairs to the top floor are so poorly made, they slope back so much you actually could fall back or have your foot slip off a step; so unsafe and very worrying. The fridge and microwave are shoved into the closet space so there's no room to hang clothes, and you would heat food right under your clothes anyway; what?!? Rickety door lock, thank goodness for deadbolt. I've stayed at multiple hotels on this street and have never had such a poor experience, I'm baffled. Needless to say, will NEVER stay here again and will advise anyone I can to steer clear.

This is a great little older motel. I took my godson and I took Santa Cruz and Monterey, and wanted to say somewhere clean and safe. The room had two beds, a small refrigerator, a microwave, and soap and other toiletries. It was located directly across a large shopping mall with lots of great restaurants, a Starbucks and a whole Foods. The staff was very pleasant, the building and grounds were well maintained. When I come back to the area I will definitely use its motel again, definitely got a lot of bang for my buck.
