Place was dirty and smelled extremely bad, the smell of cigarettes and humidity was overpowering. Did not end up staying afterall. As soon as i opened the door the smell hit hard. Walked straight back to reception and gave them the key and informed them i would not be staying.

The hotel was near the beach, which was A huge upside but while staying here you get to notice that all your neighbors do drugs or there is heavy violence in the area as well as the room stop being cleaned unless you tell them.

The room walls were so thin you could clearly hear conversations in the next room. Unfortunately, we were roomed next to a group of men who decided to graphically share sexual exploits and use a cow bell to wake everyone up in the morning. Their loud conversations could be heard through the ceiling as evident from the banging and angry shouts to shut the hell up at midnight. At one point, we thought someone was going to fall through the ceiling with all of the banging.

Check-in was nondescript - neither good nor bad. Rooms definitely need some TLC, but relatively clean. I wasn’t expecting luxury for the price we paid. However, we could have done without the “bonus entertainment “. So happy I didn’t have small children with me.

Cheap, a bit sketchy

You get what you pay for in this motel. It is run down and badly in need of updating. There are no secondary locks on the doors, which made me feel a little unsafe. Our bathroom had mold growing near the ceiling, and our room was rearranged when we arrived (both end tables were near the window and the bed was pushed into a corner). A fire alarm near our room was chirping all night, even though I brought this to the attention of management they never replaced the batteries.
When we checked in, management photocopied my credit card, which raises some red flags.
I understand that this is a budget motel but I would rather pay a little more to feel safer and have a cleaner room.

Difficult, Dirty, Uncomfortable

Extremely hard time checking in even with receipt and confirmation number. Room was filthy, dirt and grime on floors, bed bugs, barely any shower amenities, phones disconnected, bed might as well just be cardboard with springs. No room service at all or room cleaning. Definitely do not recommend in the slightest. Advertised online has free breakfast and wifi, all services were suspended though.

Motel staff allowed a homeless person to camp onsite directly outside my door during the day, absolutely unbelievable.......Staff was clearly totally and grossly negligent and incompetent. The staff literally walked right by this person without asking them to leave the property or stop bothering the paying customers. NEVER STAY IN THIS MOTEL!!!!!!!!

The room was very duty. I walked with my white socks on for a bit but when I saw how dirty they got, I removed them and it was disgusting. The floor was very dirty and you can really see it because the brown color on the floor doesn't allow you to see how bad it is. No towels in the room. No attendance in the office. I went three times to request towels, shampoo, and check in but doors were locked and a sign in the door that they will be back thirty minutes later. I wait like 35 minutes. When I went back to asked for towels, same thing; no one in the office. Wait another 35 minutes. Bad business.

This place is cheap for a reason. It seems to be a one man operation and he can’t keep up. The shower curtain had black mildew, as well as the cracked calk of the tub surround. The tub itself felt a little spongy and audibly creaked and groaned underfoot. The water in the shower never got beyond tepidly warm. There were no towels in my room, so I called the desk. No answer, no voicemail. Went to the office. Two other guests waiting, no one at the desk but two very small children in the back. While there the phone rang repeatedly, unanswered.

This place is run down and falling apart, the rooms all smell like cigar ashtrays, water pressure is sad at best, water took about 7 min to warm up, got blamed for room below me leaking water. Ice machine didnt work, less than half the lights in the rooms didnt work, tv remote needed batteries. the room i fianally got put into that smelled a lil better than the first was dirty, i found clumps of hair all over the floor, other ppls belongings in the bathroom, wall outlets barely worked and the sheets were extremly rough. i wll not be staying at this property ever again.

Management was friendly but the conditions were DEPLORABLE. We checked in at 10PM & left at 1005PM with nowhere to go, but we’d rather sleep in our car than there.

Older motel but they are making upgrades: new mattress, wall repairs, fresh paint. Both the fridge and microwave were older but clean, as were the floors. Coffee pot is room was weird; didn't really work, nor did the room phone to front desk. But overall good value for the price and close to airport!

The front desk staff was so very helpful and friendly! They take a picture of your credit card and Id and keep it. I asked if they shred it after check out but got no response. The room was not very clean ( walls, mold behind toilet, bathroom vent hanging down, front door needed to be wiped, food on floor) We kept out shoes on. And kept our bags up. It’s very loud being as the floors and walls are not very sound proof. For a quick overnight it did the job.

This was the worst motel I’ve ever stayed in while in Monterey. The woman who checked me in was incredibly rude, unprofessional and unwelcoming, please see Google and Yelp review. She was snippy, lots of eye rolling and she acted like I was inconveniencing her when I arrived for check in. Also, the walls are paper thin, a couple were fighting in the room next to me, in addition the guests above my head were walking so much that you heard the roof creaking all night. Also, lots of hair was found in bathtub. I couldn’t wait to leave. As a paying customer, I deserve far more courtesy than what this unwelcoming place offers. It’s a dump and I would never stay there again. Also no breakfast as described.

So many minor things should be addressed! Light bulb was missing in side lamp; room heater doesn't heat, loose tiles on outdoor steps - a sign that warns \"watch your step\" doesn't address the issue; hot water for sink and shower never gets above luke-warm; some electrical sockets are so loose that plugs fall out; floorboards in room have large gaps. Parking, unsurprisingly is not a problem . Cheap, but for me, a last choice.

The property itself looked nice. However the room was in poor condition. The water heater did not work so we didn’t have hot water. There was a big hole in the bathroom ceiling. Only one of the power outlets worked so it was extremely hard to charge my electronics. Finally there was a lot of road noise and airplane noise flying overhead that prevented us from sleeping well.

I booked this property due to limited availability in other properties/area on a weekend.
The welcome was the \"WORST EVER I HAVE\" recieved in any hotel/motel in the US .
at 4 pm in afternoon , they welcome guests through a \"tiny window\" where one can only pass credit cards in a low crime tourist town.The window opens into a living room where I can see someone napping on a sofa. My credit card and driver lic was taken and the Clerk disappeared for a good 10 minutes before he came back with an authorization form to sign . US law say you cannot take a credit card from eye-view of the guest. Card Swipes need to be done in front of the guest. (if they don't trust me , I don't trust them either)
Language/communication problems . The Clerk started talking to me in a non-english language profiling me based on my name/looks . I asked him questions on the room location but it was evident he didnt know proper English or even when when replying in the language he originally responded in.
I had one simple question: is there a room above my room or is it a single level. but he couldn't successfully answer the question and kept telling me that upper rooms were double-queen. The fact was - there was no 2nd level room above my room but he couldn't communciate that.
Then there's one more male person (a family member) of this clerk comes on the window and starts yelling at me saying they cannot reveal details on their occupancy. and gets threatens to call law enforcement.

They have remodeled since I was here last about a year ago, and it's beautiful. The rooms are beautiful as well. It was quiet, we had NO interruptions, our stay was just perfect. I read the other reviews before my stay and was concerned that it would be awful, but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I personally feel like the other reviews were a lil harsh. I mean, what do you expect from the cheapest hotel in Monterey. The room was not in the best condition but there were more amenities than I was expecting! A fridge, microwave, hair dryer, ironing board, iron. The sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. I was content with my stay.

We prepaid a room with 2 queen size beds. They crammed the beds against the walls so you could only get in bed on one side. We checked in and left 10 min. later. Lazy family \"runs\" disgusting hotel

We got there around 9pm, the office is permanently closed and used for storage, so I go to this small window with a cut out, something you might see in a really bad area of Oakland. Asked me my ID and credit card, came back after a few min telling me to sign the paper, no \"hi\" or \"welcome\" nothing. We get our keys to room 123, we go up and open the door. The room smelled like a smoker lived in that room for weeks and also was peeing in the corner, it was bad. I went down to the front desk and asked to change rooms, a different person came to the window, they said \"no\" and that all rooms we taken, so I ask for air freshener \"no\", as I walking back I see room 106 is unoccupied, I go back to the window and say I want 106, he says no we have already been in 123 and someone is coming for 106, I say \"its been a few minutes, we didn't even sit down and their not here I am and I want the room\", He comes with me to 123, looks around and agrees to change the rooms. I saw him spraying 123 with what I would assume was are freshener, so he lied. 106 wasn't much better but the smell was a little bit better. After an hour we decided to not stay the 2nd night and we would switch hotels. I contacted Hotels.com that night and they told me it was pay at the Hotel so all I need to do was let them know and they should remove the 2nd night. Well surprise surprise when we went to check out the next morning the guy working basically said no to the refund and to contact the website, lied again.

It served is purpose as a place to stay but when you're paying $300 a night (granted this was during a festival at a nearby location), you'd expect not to deal with a fridge that won't properly seal, broken floor boards, a shower with a beat up head and loss of hot water, a dresser that looks like it was found on the sidewalk with a \"free\" sign attached to it, and all the other little annoyances. Place should be brought up to date if you're planning to charge that much.

It’s a small, seedy hotel. Our original room was in a corner and was dark and depressing looking. It was next to a ghetto and loud neighbor who was yelling on her phone at 11pm. We got moved to a different room after my husband complained. Unfortunately it was also next to a ghetto neighbor on one side and a smoker on the other side. The restroom was nasty and old and has seen better days. There was mildew in the tub, the walls had aging, peeling paint, the floors were disgusting. I felt dirty even after taking a shower. The walls are thin and you can hear everything the people next door are doing and saying. The whole motel needs an update. It’s so gross and outdated! I do not recommend. Just pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

The pictures online do not at all reflect what this place looks like. The walls are FILTHY, the floor is gross, there are no outlets available. The manager refused to speak with us, across multiple attempts. Including hanging up on me when attempting to call the next day. Overall a good motel. The TV did not work in our room, they called the administrator and he fixed everything. Thank you for this. Personally, I did not have enough electric kettle in the room, but there was a coffee maker. The room is not clean enough, there was dust in some places. But not critical. In general, everything is good for such a price.

We decided not to stay and to drive home instead. The entire experience was very underwhelming. The room smelled like cigarettes and felt very damp and musty. The bathroom was clean. However, the chair in the room was stained and so so so dirty it led us to mistrust the linens and everything else in the room. Which led us to decide to drive home instead of stay there. It was a nonrefundable room so 150 dollar mistake but worth it to not have to stay in the pretty horrendous condition of the room.

This was one of the worst stays I’ve had. To start the place had storage trucks and work vans that belong to the people running the place. The door did not close all the way. The bathrooms door did close/lock. The shower had cold water and made bad noises. The upstairs ceiling made creaking noises as the people walked. All night it was a bad experience.

Disappointed

It was dirty and run down. I’ve thrown away pillows that were better than the ones they had. The mattress was old and and loud. I should have known the price was to cheap. $150 dollars doesn’t get much these days. Only stay here if money is a issue otherwise I would spend more and enjoy your stay

Check-in was okay, but not friendly. Just in and out...a statistic in their eyes.

Room was basic w/ fridge and microwave. No amenities such as bath soap and shampoo. Walls were thin and you can tell the rooms are maintained to the bare minimum. Room service was okay... rooms were cleaned every day.

At a normal room cost of below $100, this would be expected. But during an event week and pushes the price up over $350 per night, I would prefer to have some better service and amenities.
