Sad to report there was a houseless person in the pool area with all her belongs who proceeded to bath her self in the hot tub while trying to enjoy some time with my daughter and husband. She was talking to herself and at times we thought she may not emerge from going under. She was clearly under the influence and taking to herself and Felt unsafe. Another guest reported it to the office and they did not remove her, just asked is she was ok and left. We left because it was uncomfortable went back to the room decided to roast s’mores and order some food at the fire pits. Look over and who is there the same house less lady drying herself and changing out of her wet clothes at the fire. Again talking to herself and agitated. Sorry she is in that situation but we paid a lot to enjoy the space and amenities and could not as we felt super uncomfortable. The staff should have asked her to leave when they came to check and clearly knew she was not a guest. We’ve been coming to this hotels for the last 18 years and this changed our whole experience

Great stay! Room was clean, views were amazing. Room service brought clean towels and other necessities. The food at the lantern was overly priced and it was just ok. I was hungry late at night and didn’t want to go anywhere so I ordered from them and I paid about $60 for an appetizer and fries which were ok. I enjoyed making s’mores with the s’mores kit given to us. The parking was easy. After our stay I realized the amenities arnt free as you get charged daily for it. Overall 4stars and I would stay here again!

One star because manager comped us parking and a voucher for the restaurant for the “inconvenience”. We booked an ocean view room and ended up in a room that overlooked the highway and Home Depot. Additionally, they charged me AGAIN for the stay despite me prepaying on Expedia. I’m still waiting for the reimbursement. Beautiful location but do yourselves a favor and stay elsewhere. What a hassle to stay in a less than mediocre room. None of this has ever happened to me before and I’ve traveled extensively.

So lets start with when we got there it was after 5pm and the room was not ready and had to wait about 45mins to get one. Then they charge you a deposit $250 incease you break something in the room , after that they charge you to park $50 plus tax nightly and then they tell you the gum, smore kits, pool, sauna, and offer you a glass of wine when checking in saying its \"complimentary\" then charge you $25 plus tax for amenities and when ask to explain they tell you everything they said was complimentary $25 amenities fee which is per night as well. Kind of ridiculous and my room looked nice but the bed and pullows were horrible we ended up with 4 pillows each and still not comfortable. The staff was nice.

We arrived at the hotel and were told that Expedia mistakenly booked our room for a date in April. They mentioned it was a common problem that they experience with Expedia and that they didn’t have a room available for us. After much back and forth they ended up finding us a room. I’ve used Expedia for many years and this is the first time something like this has happened. It was recommended that I book the hotel directly through the hotel to avoid this situation in the future.

Check in was easy, but would have been nice if she would have given us more information. For example, the lobby entrance is the 2nd floor. She told me to take the elevator down. Would have been nice to have been told to drive down to the 1st floor garage which has access to our room.
Room was nice, very accommodating space. Beautiful setup including a couch area to view the bay.
Disadvantage....Ice and water machine were on the North side of the buildings...we were closer to the South side, which made it a walk and made us opt for the water in the room at $9 each.
Fireplace patio was private to guests only with lots of patios for all. Lobby had a fireplace with a lot of sitting room to play games, watch the ocean or relax. Very welcoming.
We didn't use the pool or spa, but it was very clean. The sauna and cold plung were an additional charge.
The best part to me was the almost private beach and easy access from the hotel! I love that. Would have liked to have seen beach towels away, but we didn't ask for any either.
Will definitely stay again.

Very pleased with the staff and their professionalism. When we arrived we were told that the room we booked was no longer available and there had been a mix up. Front desk staff was extremely apologetic, helpful, and professional. Staff provided a meal credit for our troubles.

For a supposedly luxury hotel resort, this was awful. We were first given a room with a malfunctioning heater (it was a cool December evening, and we had a five year old with us) and significant ambient noise upstairs (from the public lounge and bar). We were then moved to two separate adjacent similar rooms with similar noise issues, including a very loud heater. Finally we were moved to a fourth room not having an ocean view (contrary to what we had reserved, staff offered a discount at this point). This seemed acceptable, but when we retuned after dinner the heater was malfunctioning here as well. After waiting a while for a repair, we were told that this is the only room left on the property. We just gave up and drove half an hour in the middle of the night with a 5 year old to sleep in the nearest two star Best Western with a vacancy.
Even without all of these problems, the whole property is not appealing - it seemed like a renovated motel more than a lixury hotel, and seemed worn out in a number of places. I will mention that the beach access and ocean views from the lobby are very nice, and staff was helpful while, ultimately unsuccessful,with retrieving an item we left behind. However, I would definitely not recommend a stay here unless you value beachfront above all else and don’t care much about anything else.

There is no room service and limited dining times. If you are on the first floor, your view of the ocean is blocked by a green fence. If you are on the first floor, some of the rooms are located right under the bar so you’ll hear chairs scrapping until the bar closes. The front desk staff are friendly, but if you want a bell hop to help you you’ll have to talk fast or they will just leave.

I was not a fan of the type of coffee maker that was offered in the room it made little espresso and not an actual cup of coffee but that’s personal preference. Also the door to the bathroom opened inward, which was a little awkward because the restroom is really small so you actually had to step to the side of the toilet so that you could shut the door. The view was amazing and private hotel access to the beach was awesome. Had a high table with a couple of seats right outside our door. We were on the ground floor. Also there were fire tables and we were given a complementary kit to make s’mores so I thought that was really cute. There were QR codes on the tables outside for us to scan an order which we did got a charcuterie board. What’s according to the listing should’ve came with walnuts and olives, which were missing from mine no big deal maybe they were just out. But I feel like there should’ve been a little bit of a price adjustment or something substituted on the plate for it. Also ordered their house chips. They were like a barbecue flavor very well seasoned and crispy. They offer a pool hot tub. There are also saunas a gym and E bikes available that came with a complementary to our time limit. We were also given two glasses of complementary wine, which I thought was a nice touch. I like my wine. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

Room was extremely nice, view was amazing. Loved the bar and restaurant option and the outdoor sitting areas. Only complaint was I’m pretty sure my room was above the kitchen or bar. I heard banging until midnight and it start back up at 5am. I would recommend asking for a room far away from right side of the hotel. Other than that, I loved it!

We came here for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful experience! The entire site is welcoming and comfy, from the indoor viewing area of the ocean with plenty of seating to the multiple outdoor couches and seating areas.
The staff is friendly and attentive. I asked for a specific floor after booking and because we were celebrating my birthday the manager gave us a tour of the facility and upgraded us from the first floor to a 3rd floor room with an awesome view of the entire view of the bay and even comped us a welcome drink and app! The rooms are well appointed and the views to the ocean were beautiful! I can’t say enough good things about our stay at this hotel!

We were disappointed with our stay because of the noise level in our room. We were placed right next to what seemed to be a storage or utility room, with employees frequently moving in and out. Starting before 7 AM, there was constant banging and loud noises that woke us up early both mornings. It really impacted our ability to relax and rest during the trip.

I love the perks. I really love the back deck where you can sit and still see the water. I just wish the beach was cleaned up in front of the hotel. A lot of sea weeds and dead marine life. That brought a lot of flying bugs. Other than that, I enjoyed my time. The staff was great! My grand daughter's loved the complimentary cupcakes and smores. I liked the complimentary wine and champagne. I will definitely go again!

This hotel is right on the ocean! A motel style with rooms open to the outside. Has a restaurant and lounge in the hotel. Community fire pits where you can lounge and watch the sunset. Hotel offered s’mores and wine (for free) make the evenings enjoyable. Pool and saunas although didn’t use them looked fun. Lol Rooms were clean and well kept.

This property is right on the beach, so you do get a good view. They had nice perks like s’mores daily, the option to rent e-bikes and free welcome wine. It was pet-friendly and the rooms were new/upgraded. They accommodated us when we asked to switch to an ocean view and moved us again when our AC was not working. Now, on to the cons. HIDDEN FEES. There is a fee to park at the hotel ($52/day) and a “destination fee” ($25/day)—whatever that is! This is quite frustration as you arrive thinking you’ve already paid and your stay is one cost—and surprise you have an extra $75/day in fees. The food + drinks at their dining options were more expensive than some of the nicer hotels closer to downtown and the bartending staff wasn’t hospitable. The property was structured like a motel, so you have to go outside to get to your room and there is only 1 elevator. I will concede that the communal areas were nice (lobby, fitness center, outdoor dining area) The sauna/spa was closed, so we didn’t get to use that either. Would I recommend? Eh.

The hotel itself is in a great location. Right on the beach and close to a lot of places we wanted to go. The front desk staff were helpful. Delivered an extra blanket and do not disturb sign to the room. Self serve wine bar was nice.

Walls are super thin. Can hear people talking. House keeping was super loud laughing and chatting. We were right next to the pool and could hear all the people jumping in and kids screaming. The room is smaller than expected. No dresser, no table, no closet. The mini fridge is really small. Could only hold a few drinks. There is no microwave. The tv is to the left of the bed. Even if you’re sitting on the left side it’s still not in front of you. Very little light unless you open the blinds. We sent the temperature of the room to 65 when going to sleep. It never got below 69-70.

Loved everything about it. Right next to the beach they have little bonfire pits on the beach and have awesome fire pits with comfortable couches facing the beach. We saw dolphins really near the shore. Staff was amazing and the wine included with the room I had gotten was awesome! Parking is quite fair priced. Lounge area is beautiful you can sit down, get some wine, sit down and look at the beautiful scenery through the big glass windows they have in the lobby.

The property is extremely nice and the staff is really nice the only thing I was not expecting is the parking charges they don’t tell you on Expedia it says no hidden fees however they charge you 51 dollars to park there although you are paying to stay there that seems really odd to me and left a bad taste honestly 150 extra charges for parking the 3 days we stayed all while paying 475 a night! Outrageous

5 STARS..... I absolutely loved this place. The rooms are clean, and the beds were comfortable, grounds are well kept. The staff was amazing I was able to communicate via text, and all my wishes were met quickly . I had the opportunity to visit the bar with complementary wine card they gave us when we got there, it was a birthday trip, and after a long day at the aquarium, it was welcomed . They even have smores service ,nice touch.
Such a nice and relaxed atmosphere the bartender was very helpful with questions I had. I also was able to have a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant I had pancakes verry good, then I was entertained by dolphins passing by, and my server was great. Yes it is expensive and you have to pay for parking but can you really put a price on a wonderful experience? I also like its not to close to the to the Chaos of downtown but close enough to get there in few minutes and its dog friendly with immediate entrance to the beach. I highly recommend would absolutely do it again. Thank you Monterey Beach Hotel, A Tribute portfolio Hotel, for making our stay a joyful experience, I cant say enough Just thank you, from all of us!

Young adults were drinking and talking quite loud outside of our room (104) late into the night. I don't think they were staying at the hotel, just came up from the beach area to sit on the chairs on the deck out front of our area. It made it very hard to get a good night rest.
