We recently stayed at this hotel. Most of the services were excellent and the staff were very good, so we appreciate that very much.

However, there were a few issues during our stay. The internet Wifi connection was extremely slow. Even YouTube could not load, so it was very difficult to watch TV or use online services.

Also, in one of the bathrooms, the glass shower partition was too small. Whenever we turned on the shower, water splashed all over the bathroom floor outside . After every shower, we had to wipe and clean the water ourselves. The glass partition is not sufficient and should be improved.

Other than these issues, the rest of the hotel service was very good.

We booked a two room unit with a king bed and two queens in the main area. Beds were comfy enough and the room was clean and had been remodeled recently. The staff ladies were attentive and helped out when the TV lost it's mind and we could not get Netflix or Prime loaded and it was fixed fairly soon. A bit noisy being right on Freemont and our room #45 was only two rooms from the street but the noise was minimal when it was time to sleep. Location was not as close to the Aquarium and Fisherman's wharf as we would have like but that is my fault for not checking the map. Price was good at only $145 night and getting the extra room so we all had privacy was important as we had our adult grandaughter with us.

Lone Oak Lodge is convenient & very close by to many places I wanted to see —- Monterey, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, 17 Mile Drive, Pacific Grove, Carmel Mission Basilica Church. Only 5 to 15 minutes drive. Stayed here a couple of nights. Reasonable price for huge, clean room & accommodating staff, including the housekeeping. The smell of the room though is too clean! Ingredients of cleaning supplies might be a bit much for people with smell sensitivity. Thank you!

My husband and I stayed at the lodge just for one night and we highly recommend this place. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel seems to have had a recent upgrade and well maintained. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean! And they offer parking, Very satisfied with our stay!

I really wanted to like Lone Oak Lodge because we had such a great time in Monterey overall—but unfortunately, the stay here was disappointing.
The biggest issue was the spa situation. The listing advertises an indoor spa, which gave us the impression it was available to guests. In reality, it’s only accessible if you pay extra for a private spa room—and those were mostly booked. We ended up paying additional just to use it for one night, which felt misleading and frustrating.
Another issue was the water—it had a strange “soapy” feel that made showers uncomfortable. It didn’t feel clean, which is a big deal when you’re staying somewhere for multiple nights.
The room itself was just okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing that justified the price either. There wasn’t even a tea kettle provided, which felt like a basic amenity that should be included.
To be fair, the staff was decent and not the problem—but overall, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. For the price, I wish we had stayed at Best Western De Anza Inn instead, which offers a more accessible spa, includes breakfast, and is more affordable.
Overall, pretty disappointing. Monterey was amazing—but this stay definitely wasn’t the highlight.

Its amazing! Make sure to bring extra towels and blankets because the lodge is literally 5 minutes from the beach. Great stay if you enjoy going to the beach and great Mexican restaurant plus everything is so close by like target and fastfood restaurant are less than 5 minutes away. Great location!

The newer shower floors are safer / less slippery than bathtubs & they have a grab bar too .
The fridge is larger than most other places so the ice cube buckets actually fit into the freezer .
I filled the ice, used it from the freezer & it lasted a couple of days instead of the normal couple of hours until it melts .
The mattress was good . . . firm and comfortable .
The heating unit worked well / quickly with no odd smells .

I chose this hotel specifically because it advertised a hot tub and sauna across both its website and Expedia listing, including multiple photos. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was told by the front desk that both the hot tub and sauna have been closed for years.

This was extremely disappointing, as those amenities were the main reason I booked this property over others in the area. This wasn’t a temporary issue or something out of the hotel’s control, it appears the listing has simply not been updated, which feels misleading.

Aside from that, the stay itself was okay, but nothing standout. However, advertising amenities that don’t actually exist significantly impacts the overall experience and trust in the property.

I would strongly recommend that the hotel update its listings immediately to accurately reflect what is and isn’t available so future guests can make informed decisions.

Stayed in the classic suite with 3 other people and a dog. The suites layout was kinda weird.. as soon as you enter the unit there’s the 2 queen beds with the seating area and fridge and microwave. Theres a room to the bed with the king size bed where the bathroom is and another smaller TV and fridge. Overall, good stay, clean, staff friendly, central location.

Pro- Clean, quiet, safe place, and the front staff is nice. Parking is great (you park in the front of your room). Having a Microwave
Con - no staff at night, furniture worn off, no bathtub (I am okay with it), but the shower place is smaller than usual(I think it depends on the room you select - I selected a basic room).

Overall, it was a good place for me to stay (under budget) since I enjoyed my trip in Big Sur. I would use it again..

There is no hot tub. The hot tub they are referring to is IN a room that costs more. One reason I give 3 stars, because we booked here for the hot tub.
Staff was friendly, room was clean, walking distance to different restaurants. A group of people were there and were hogging the fire pit every single night and bbq and were there for hours so no one else could enjoy it. Bed was not comfortable and tv didn't work at first but my daughter fixed it.

The rooms were nice, mattresses were firm, housekeeping did a nice job. Free parking with close room access was a nice touch. Everything was fine, but for the price, it was amazing.
Only knock would be thin walls. Our 3rd night was spent next to a lead footed toddler that we had no problem hearing running back & forth. Otherwise, great property!

If I could’ve picked my room up and made it mine forever I would have. Everything looks brand new and was completely spotless. The bed was super comfortable, the shower was the perfect way to start and end my days. It was so quiet. The only “complaint” or suggestion- much better word. Is the bed was super squeaky in room 12. Not sure if something needs to be tightened or it’s warped, but I was alone on this trip and weigh under 160lbs. The labeled parking spaces were amazing! If I am ever back out this way, I will absolutely be back!

Also, you had the cutest and sweetest lady to check me in!!! She’s precious.

I don’t usually post reviews, but I wanted to share a few thoughts because I booked with certain expectations. Overall, our stay was great. We stayed in a suite with our family, and it was spacious and clean, which we really appreciated.

Upon arrival, we were informed parking was $11 per night. This wasn’t mentioned on any booking site I checked. Since we were already paying to stay, parking wasn’t limited, and the property wasn’t busy, the added fee felt unnecessary. Clear communication upfront would be appreciated.

I had specifically noted the importance of blackout curtains or drapes when booking, as light easily disrupts sleep for both my daughter and me. The room had wooden shutters, but there were large gaps that allowed quite a bit of light in—especially with the porch light shining through overnight which couldn’t be turned off. True blackout curtains would have made a noticeable difference.

The bathrooms were nice and spacious, but the large sink left very limited usable counter space for personal items. There also weren’t any hooks to hang towels, and additional shelving or a small bench would have made it much more functional, especially for placing a change of clothes (or whatever else) on for after showering.

I worked in hospitality for years, so I may be a bit detail-oriented, but it’s often the little touches that elevate a stay from good to great. Overall, we enjoyed our time and hope this feedback is helpful.

Was a perfect space for 3 adults and a1yr old. The small kitchen was very useful especially when trying to save $ from dining out. Separate bedroom was great. I wasn't able to show up the first night but i asked for an extra day and the room was available. I took off one star because the safety latch for the front door was missing so my grandson was able to open the front door just by turning the handle. Maintenance fixed it quickly upon us returning from an afternoon at the aquarium. Overall a great stay.

Nice place to stay in Monterey! Quiet and safe. Park right in front of the room. Very convenient. The room is nicely renovated and the bed is comfortable. Only problem was the vanity light on mirror and the lamp on nightstand kept blinking after turning on for a little while. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

I was in one of the newly-remodeled rooms near the back of the property. The bed seemed to have one of the modern & firm but soft with a gel-type surface. Room was impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated! I would recommend this place to friends& family, and especially the cottage-options with the hot tub when more people stay together. I have stayed here a few times now! The price is excellent for what you do get! I have noticed that the floors are not always swept/mopped. If you walk barefoot little dirt particles get on your feet. I will continue to stay here but that's just one thing I noticed. Also, they are pet friendly! Only $35 per dog! Dante at the front desk is a really nice guy too!!

This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any hotel! I arrived 20 minutes early, 2:40 PM PST, for check-in. The clerk/manager informed me that the room wasn't ready until the standard 3:00 PM PST check-in time. That was an sufficient explanation. I went back to the office at 3:00 PM PST and the clerk/manager informed me it would be another 20 minutes before my room would be available. That was unacceptable! I had already waited 20 minutes. The clerk/manager was flippant and told me that I could get a refund. That was an unacceptable response! At this given hotel there are two identical rooms that have in-room spa tubs (Room Nos. 38 and 39). When I arrived at 2:40 PM PST the clerk/manager arbitrarily assigned me Room 39. When I went back to the office at 3:00 PM PST, there was another customer in the lobby. After waiting for that customer to check-in, I was informed that my assigned room (Room No. 39) was going to take an additional 20 minutes to get ready. As it turns out, the customer who arrived at 3:00 PM PST for check-in was assigned Room 38 (which was ready)! The identical and twin of Room 39! The clerk/manager should've assigned Room 38 to myself and instructed the customer who arrived 20 minutes after I arrived to wait 20 minutes for Room 39! That would've been the right thing to do! I'll take my future business elsewhere and never consider this place again!

The jacuzzi in our room was wonderful, and the room was very clean. However, the bed was HORRIBLE. Every time you move or roll over, the boxspring made a loud squeak. The mattress was super comfortable, but the boxspring needs to be replaced.
