I don’t usually post reviews, but I wanted to share a few thoughts because I booked with certain expectations. Overall, our stay was great. We stayed in a suite with our family, and it was spacious and clean, which we really appreciated.

Upon arrival, we were informed parking was $11 per night. This wasn’t mentioned on any booking site I checked. Since we were already paying to stay, parking wasn’t limited, and the property wasn’t busy, the added fee felt unnecessary. Clear communication upfront would be appreciated.

I had specifically noted the importance of blackout curtains or drapes when booking, as light easily disrupts sleep for both my daughter and me. The room had wooden shutters, but there were large gaps that allowed quite a bit of light in—especially with the porch light shining through overnight which couldn’t be turned off. True blackout curtains would have made a noticeable difference.

The bathrooms were nice and spacious, but the large sink left very limited usable counter space for personal items. There also weren’t any hooks to hang towels, and additional shelving or a small bench would have made it much more functional, especially for placing a change of clothes (or whatever else) on for after showering.

I worked in hospitality for years, so I may be a bit detail-oriented, but it’s often the little touches that elevate a stay from good to great. Overall, we enjoyed our time and hope this feedback is helpful.

Was a perfect space for 3 adults and a1yr old. The small kitchen was very useful especially when trying to save $ from dining out. Separate bedroom was great. I wasn't able to show up the first night but i asked for an extra day and the room was available. I took off one star because the safety latch for the front door was missing so my grandson was able to open the front door just by turning the handle. Maintenance fixed it quickly upon us returning from an afternoon at the aquarium. Overall a great stay.

Nice place to stay in Monterey! Quiet and safe. Park right in front of the room. Very convenient. The room is nicely renovated and the bed is comfortable. Only problem was the vanity light on mirror and the lamp on nightstand kept blinking after turning on for a little while. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Where was the hot tub??! Nowhere to be found. The bed is that harder memory foam material, it was okay but not great. Bathrooms are super nice and redone well, but no tub so the pictures listed are very deceiving. Tv is SUPER outdated. Good location in town.

I was in one of the newly-remodeled rooms near the back of the property. The bed seemed to have one of the modern & firm but soft with a gel-type surface. Room was impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated! I would recommend this place to friends& family, and especially the cottage-options with the hot tub when more people stay together. I have stayed here a few times now! The price is excellent for what you do get! I have noticed that the floors are not always swept/mopped. If you walk barefoot little dirt particles get on your feet. I will continue to stay here but that's just one thing I noticed. Also, they are pet friendly! Only $35 per dog! Dante at the front desk is a really nice guy too!!

This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any hotel! I arrived 20 minutes early, 2:40 PM PST, for check-in. The clerk/manager informed me that the room wasn't ready until the standard 3:00 PM PST check-in time. That was an sufficient explanation. I went back to the office at 3:00 PM PST and the clerk/manager informed me it would be another 20 minutes before my room would be available. That was unacceptable! I had already waited 20 minutes. The clerk/manager was flippant and told me that I could get a refund. That was an unacceptable response! At this given hotel there are two identical rooms that have in-room spa tubs (Room Nos. 38 and 39). When I arrived at 2:40 PM PST the clerk/manager arbitrarily assigned me Room 39. When I went back to the office at 3:00 PM PST, there was another customer in the lobby. After waiting for that customer to check-in, I was informed that my assigned room (Room No. 39) was going to take an additional 20 minutes to get ready. As it turns out, the customer who arrived at 3:00 PM PST for check-in was assigned Room 38 (which was ready)! The identical and twin of Room 39! The clerk/manager should've assigned Room 38 to myself and instructed the customer who arrived 20 minutes after I arrived to wait 20 minutes for Room 39! That would've been the right thing to do! I'll take my future business elsewhere and never consider this place again!

The jacuzzi in our room was wonderful, and the room was very clean. However, the bed was HORRIBLE. Every time you move or roll over, the boxspring made a loud squeak. The mattress was super comfortable, but the boxspring needs to be replaced.

Staff was courteous and helpful. We had a large reunion (7 rooms reserved) for 3 days and looked forward to the fire pit area. But the fire pit had difficulty starting (required staff to help start) and eventually died. The heat lamp did not work. Rooms were decent and clean, with obviously many remodels. Some of the rooms had unusually squeaky beds and annoyingly loud mini-fridges. My husband, daughter and I stayed in the 2-bedroom suite which was very spacious and helped our family convene. Would have like more hooks in the bathroom.

Family suite is perfect for family traveling with a pet and multiple kids. A full size kitchen was wonderful. Plenty of space to move around and big beds and sofas that can be made into beds too. The bathroom is spacious. Liked it too because it is not carpeted flooring. Parking is not a problem. The location is good. Close to all the beautiful spots in Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. The staff is friendly. We enjoyed our stay for 5 days.

Had so many issues our first night with doors being broken, hinge's falling off, broken tv remote, lights flickering, sunken floor, fridge wouldn't get cold, then got another room for the last 2 nights, had racoons in the ceiling of the master room and bathroom, no draft guard under doors so room had freezing cold air sliding through non stop. Master bedroom heater didn't work, master fridge made noises all night like a whiny dog. Front desk told me 2 days in a row that the manager would call, she didn't. Was told on check out, manager approved 20% each for all 3 nights, said to call hotels.com, have them call the property and hotel would verify the refund of 20% a night for 3 nights. Was promised calls back from Hotels.com, got nothing. got 20% off for the last 2 nights but hotels.com said they couldn't get ahold of the hotel again for the 20% off the first night res and was pretty much told in an email from hotels.com \"tough, can't do anything more and to cut your losses\" I don't accept that, this hotel doesn't stand by their promises, & hotels.com doesn't either. They will say \"we will fix this and make it better, trust me\" & they don't. Won't be using hotels.com anymore & will never stay at this property again, which stinks because we're going back to Monterey in December with another family & would've stayed there if they had made this right, but they didn't and Hotels.com let me down as a long time customer. Shame on both of you guys for treating people like this

Was very pleasantly surprised with the Lone Oak. The rooms were so clean and fresh. Everything looked brand new and updated inside the room. It was an interesting layout for a hotel. I appreciated that there was no second story so it was much quieter than other places we have stayed. They had maid services daily so that was a nice treat. Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

This review is specifically for the listing of a 2 bedroom cottage that we reserved with the Lone Oak Lodge. False advertising.

Calling this a 2 bedroom ‘cottage’ is misleading and inaccurate. There are not 2 separate bedrooms - when you walk into the unit from outside, there is a bed in the room. No common area. Off that there is a kitchen area and a door to the one actual bedroom (and the lone bathroom was only accessible via the one bedroom). In addition, the whole setup was spartan - cold feeling, no artwork, no bedside lights at all (only harsh ceiling lights). They modified 2 regular rooms to be able to list it so it sounds like they have a cozy space (‘cottage’) with 2 actual bedrooms. No privacy for anyone with this - either you’re in the actual bedroom but others have to pass through to use the bathroom - or you’re in the open area but others have to pass through to exit the unit.

This setup forced us to rent another 2 rooms for our stay (one in another hotel) that ruined our original plans for a nice family gathering. Staff was polite but inflexible - you’d think they’d have offered some accommodations or partial refund. Sad because the extra regular room that we had to rent at the last second seemed fine and we might’ve come back and spread the word about this location.

We stayed there for a week and very pleased with our suite. We stayed in 1 bedroom with kitchen, living area and with another bed adjacent to living room. The pictures on expedia.com didn't do it justice. It is also pet friendly hotel. And there is a park about 2 miles away. Its also near Safeway and few more miles there is costco and a shopping center. My only complaint is we wish we each had a dresser. It's near Carmel, Cannery Row. If up to it the wharf at Santa Cruz has real good clam chowder. It was the last restaurant and they sell fresh seafood. I would also recommend Monterey Cookhouse and Chinese Restaurant that are walking distance.

Nice hotel Appears newly updated. Clean, minimal and modern. Nice to have a mini fridge & microwave available in room. The bathroom is spacious and had drawers and a cabinet to put your things in instead of having to keep everything on the counter. Nice touch. The mirror lighting was great. Easier to put on makeup. The jacuzzi tub is amazing and relaxing. You can’t find that in many hotels. Would go back just for that. During day no one is parked there. At night it can get busy, but there was still a few places to park. I like that they are all single story so no noise from above rooms. We had a few issues with the bed. The frame and base are metal, there was an area where the frame and base weren’t soldered. So any small movement was extremely loud and squeaky . We ended up finding the area and sticking a washcloth between where they touch. Helped reduce the noise. The mattress was not very comfortable. Very firm too much for us. I also wish there was a small light near the bed. Only the ceiling had lights so had to get up and turn all lights off. I would have enjoyed a full length mirror to check my whole outfit. There is no ironing board or iron. Luckily on this visit I didn’t need this, but it could be something needed next time. The staff was nice. Housekeeping were friendly and did a good job. We got a great recommendation from office staff for breakfast which helped us find a new favorite breakfast spot. I would visit again.

The room had some strange quirks. There were three microwaves-one in each room plus in the kitchen. Same with refrigerators. Seemed a wast of space. The beds were ok but super squeaky. The strangest and most inconvenient was the bathroom sink. It was commercial-like with zero counter space. So basically nowhere to put bathroom items. The faucet was so close to the wall that it wouldn’t turn all the way to hot so I actually had to wash my face in the kitchen sink. The bathroom was big but not a single towel rack or hook in sight. It didn’t lend itself to functionality. It wasn’t a bad experience but we probably wouldn’t stay there again. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice but the lady at check out barely glanced up and just told me to put the key cards in a small bin on the desk. Didn’t ask how our stay was.

Sorry, maybe it was just our room-#1, but many things we were not happy about. For example- very loud A/C, the shower door heavy to move, close. The front door needs to be adjusted, hard to open/close.
But..the check in and out went smoothly. Nice people working here, especially Ana and Dante. Overall I was surprised about the hotel/motel having such a good rating.
