If I could give them NO STARS I would. Room was very dirty. I wish I could upload the pictures I took. Floors, toilet (around the toilet was leaking) , bathroom was unexceptionable! The shower had mold !!! Black mold . Like they never cleaned it . The bedding was old and had holes in it . The mattresses were both stained. The heater was broken . The curtains ripped and falling off . All around very gross! The owner wanted us to stay . Acted like he gave us a good deal and his place was maintained. He wouldn’t give us a refund or even a partial. At that point we just left. Booked 2 nights stayed for maybe 5 hours just to rest up. Luckily we brought our own sheets . Don’t recommend. Find something else .

It all depends on context. I visited this property during Monterey Car Week when even the Motel 6 is a $600 a night investment. The motel has a very convenient location and the staff was great with 24 hour per day on site security ensuring that the place was as safe as possible. With all that said, the rooms are outdated and a bit worn, though relatively clean. During MCW, I have stayed at places running the entire gamut from $1800 a night to motels like this. Overall, I think the value was great and I would recommend this during those high leverage occasions when the budget doesn't permit spending several thousands of dollars for what is a bed for a few hours a night. As long as your eyes are open and expectations realistic, it wasn't a horrible experience.

This hotel was absolutely unacceptable. It was so bad we left even though they refused to refund. Walls were damaged, there was holes in the sheets, and the tv did not work. It was bot cery clean. I wish I haf taken pictures to post. It should be removed due to poor quality. I had stayed here years ago without concern. Just a place for the night. It’s so bad they had a security guard on site at tiny motel.

The Establishment did not meet even the lowest of expectations especially for a single female Traveler. I felt very uncomfortable and ended up not staying.
There was lots of deferred maintenance and I just did not feel comfortable staying. Before booking this hotel I would check in and see if they have cleaned things up.

I’m surprised that Expedia is listing this as one of the properties. I’ve been to third world country’s with better and cleaner accomodations. Room smelled like smoke, the bedspread had cigarette burn holes in them. The sheets looked like they haven’t been washed, wires sticking out of the walls and paint is peeling of the rooms. We checked in then checked out. It ruined our weekend stay.

I guess you get what you pay for. This motel is actually inhabited by some longer term guests. The guy in the next room went back and forth between making phone calls and watching TV, both at max volume until 4am. We had to walk to Walgreens for earplugs. Everything is dirty or stained, from floor to ceiling including the linens and towels. Those are the things that were important to me (a quiet place to sleep and a clean atmosphere). As for the things less important, but equally as terrible- TV color all yellow, no cups in the room, no ice machine. Woke up to a fire truck and ambulance at 5am. Glad they were there to help someone struggling, hope he’s okay. Needless to say, if you have more than $150/night to spend, do it!

I was really disappointed in this stay. When we arrived, there was a security officer outside who seemed to later be dealing with some commotion with one of the people staying in the property. When we got to our unit, the light in the bathroom didn't work, the bed looked like it was picked up as a free item from the streets and felt like it was going to fall apart, there was no warm water from the sink (we decided we didn't want to take showers here), there was only 1 towel even though we were a party of 2, and it felt pretty unsafe. It was very noisy and throughout the night there were people walking/running up and down and someone who started yelling at 2am while 1-2 people chased him. I would not have stayed here if I was a solo female traveler- would feel very unsafe. The posted signs about the rules in the room made it seem like this was a recuperation facility (alc/drugs?). I have never stayed in a worst place. I stayed here for a race in Monterey the next day, but barely slept. Really disappointing.

When I walked in it immediately smelled like dirt and mildew, there was water damage along the base board of the wall. There were stickers on the head board, stuff smeared on the walls and dirt on top of the air conditioning unit. I tried to get my money back- I left after 10 minutes of being in the room.

Make sure when you come here you bring your own pillows. This is what you get when you find the cheapest hotel on the booking site don’t expect the embassy. But it’s a family run operation and the staff is super friendly. They makeup for any of the room issues.

Check in was fairly normal, receptions asked me three times for my name and after not “finding” me I gave him my ID card then he “found” me. He kept saying another name thinking I was that person. Paint was coming off the walls, pillows were so flat you needed to use both just to feel like you had a pillow. Towels were barely large enough to cover yourself. Having nextflix was nice. Someone came knocking on our door just before 10 to ask if we were checking out that day. Check out was at 11 and we booked just one night. I don’t know if I would stay there again but they need to invest in their basics and update their rooms.

Filthiest hotel room of all time. I made the mistake of removing the bedspread from the bedding. Big mistake. It took 15 minutes to figure out how to take a warm shower. I had freezing cold and boiling hot figured out in 30 seconds. This room should have rented for 6 bucks a night.

Hate to be negative but Hotels.com should pull this one off the list. Where do I begin. Patch job walls with no paint, Holes in floor, wouldn’t dare take a shower in the moldy shower (I don’t know if I am up to date on all of my vaccines). Sheet’s were clean. Staff was nice but that didn’t make up for the lack of maintenance to the room. I know it’s a budget hotel but budget some money for upkeep…

This is a $60-$75/night property. I paid $250 for one night because of the location, some event going on, and holiday weekend which was ridiculous. I almost said screw the money I am not sleeping here. Will never be back. Would rather spend the ridiculous $600 a night at the Marriott.

This place is horrible. I have taken pictures to document the state of the room. Neighborhood is sketch, there are no locks on the windows, inadequate window coverings, Filthy walls bedcovers. There are missing outlet plates, there was one dirty towel. There are homeless people hanging out under the stairwell. If it wasn’t so late I would be looking for another place to stay. And I will be looking to get my money back.

The room had a terrible stale smoke (and other) odor. Parts of the room were very dirty. The bedding look old and used. See attached pictures. I did not stay the night but, luckily was able to book a room in a nearby hotel through Hotels.com.
I will be requesting a refund from Hotels.com.
Sorry to the owners of the Economy motel for writing this review but they need to know and other potential customers need to know.

The worst hotel I've ever seen! I don’t know why Expedia even offers this hotel.
The room wasn't cleaned when I checked in. When I finally got the room the room was disgusting. I've stayed in better hotels in Mexico. There were cigarette burns on the sheets. The locks on the door were broken ! There wasn't a smoke detector. The room was still dirty. There were holes and patches everywhere. There were boot marks on the door. The room smelled liked cigarettes.
The manager would not give us a refund.

Adventures in last min hotel bookings due to work!

Well ….this was the only place available on an emergency type work trip on a holiday weekend…check in staff was great. The price was definitely right considering I booked the night before on a holiday weekend and it was in Monterey. The next decently affordable hotel was 20+ mi away.

Parking was available but not much and the parking lot is incredibly awkward.

Rooms were something…glad we were there for only one night. Major disrepair everywhere. Furniture was beat up, scratched, water damaged and every room smelled like old smoke. Tub spigot was detached by a good 2 inches from wall, I didn’t bother taking a shower. TV wouldn’t turn on. AC was lukewarm. One of the beds (2 full size in room) didn’t have sheets. No bed bugs though, so that’s positive . Fast food Trash outside my room. A guy who just got out of jail was there walking around asking to crash in one of our rooms…fun!

All in all, pretty janky place, I’ll definitely never stay there again unless under extreme circumstances. At least I’ll know what I’m getting into.

Like a half-way apt from a detective movie.

The good: Shower was nice and hot with great water pressure.
The bad:
The floor wasn't finished, there was a gap that showed the subfloor. The window curtains won't stay closed, I had to hold it down with some bags. Room reeks of smoke although it's supposed to be non-smoking. The furniture is falling apart. One bath towel and one face towel and not floor mat supplied. Door has no secondary security mechanism. Box spring just sitting on the floor. Lights needed to be messed with to work. The mattress is uncomfortable. Brought my own pillow.

Great place for a quick overnight stay for rest without paying outrages rates. Super dirty rooms and tiny parking lot. Room smelled like bleach the entire night. I loved the outside look of the hotel because it looks like a small motel in a small town kinda vibe but the inside is in terrible conditions. Mold, blocked stairwell, manager was rude and screammed at vustomers. Refused to return deposit with no cause. Police called and said he has a long history of doing this so the cjty wants him shut down. The deposit is now a civil matter and he is alleged to be a meth user. His behavior certainly reflects this. Never have I ever experienced a stay like this.

This property should not be allowed to be in business. The rooms are dirty: door and door jab riddled with dirt. Inside of door lock had no cover with wires hanging out. The bathroom shower has a vise grips as the handle, greasy. The bathroom sink faucet does not have a handle. I asked for a different room. The next room was no better. There was loud tv and music, passed 1am. I had a reservation for 3 nights. In the morning I checked out due to the dirty and loud hotel. The manager was rude and made me pay for the 3 nights. He is not the type of person I feel safe arguing with, I just wanted to get far away from this place as fast as possible. As we are in a COVID pandemic, I do not understand how this hotel is allow to be open. Shame on Expedia for having this hotel on their website.

When I went to check in at about 9pm on Friday, no one was available to check me in. The place looked dirty. People appeared to be living there. The gentleman who eventually agreed to check me in was sleeping in a room next to the office. I decided not to check in and asked him to cancel my remaining days. I also asked him for a refund. So the property is being remodeled and the smell of paint burned my eyes and made me choke. The toilet seat was broken and coming off. There was no closet area for hanging clothes. There were wholes in blankets and pillow cases. Had to ask for a garbage can. No screen on the window that we had to leave open due to the paint smell. The drapes were falling off the window. The lampshades had stuff splattered on them.

Claims free HBO were false, very few channels and power and volume had to be done on the TV not remote, it would not be so bad if the buttons were not covered in thick sticky guck. I've stayed at the Economy Inn several times in the past few years. It is an older establishment that can be an \"adventure\" sometimes. They have recently made some noticeable improvements , such as replacing the old mechanical door locks with modern electronic locks, and upgrading the televisions. I always expect a few difficulties, but it does seem to be gradually improving over-all . For example, the hair dryers have almost always been non-working in the past, and yet my room had a fully functional hair dryer this time 😄 The outside of the building also has a new coat of paint. If they're not careful, the Economy Inn might gain a star or two eventually .

DO NOT STAY HERE! Here is a list why:
1. Room stank like cigarettes
2. Toilet had urine and toilet paper in it. So bathroom was not cleaned.
3. Bedding had cigarette burns.
4. A/C unit had mold and dirt all over it.
5. Chain on door had been kicked in.
6. Basic run of the mill tweaker hotels.
7. I am embarrassed that they even show as a possibility to stay at on EXPEDIA'S list of hotels.

This motel is a terrible place to stay.
Fridge was not working. Lights didn't work. Dirty towels, used 2 times.
Very loud at night.
There was no breakfast.
The office was locked till 2 p. m. No people in office.
No room service at all.
The manager were rude and noisy.
We cancel our reservation. Very surprised he is still in business

I expected bare bones at the price, but there were definitely issues. Management was cordial, however coffee promised in lobby in the morning was not there. Door locked, no one at desk. Room was clean, but shoddy maintenance. .Broken/missing items in the room. Parking was difficult and in an unsafe-feeling location.

It is the worst place I ever stayed. Too noisy next door and outside by people talking, shouting all night. Staff does not care and joined conversations based what I can hear. Then place is not clean at all, looks like towel hasn’t replaced over 10 years, stained mark on all 4 towels, no chair in the room for desks. Water damaged wall every corner and floor, I am worried mold in the room. Not coming back. Worst ever.

Manager checking in was unprofessional, dressed in tee shirt, and bashing some of his renters. Parking was next to impossible with little room to maneuver.

The room was small and cramped. Rust was on backing of bathroom door knob, on the microwave and in other places. I was not informed when I registered that they did not service the room, and in three days no room service was performed. I had to ask for an additional bath towel.

The property had various cluttered area, including old mattresses, etc., and an obviously unused vehicle in one of the parking spots. There were dried paint droppings on the walkways.

I won't use this property again.
