We got ocean view but ocean was too far.no balcony.breakfast was only coffee and cake wouldn't call it breakfast. No air condition in room.was so hot in our room we paid $300 per night in weekdays really expensive for that type of room.if you are going to go get the cheapest room not the ocean view.

It was a wonderful stay. One of the best we’ve had in Carmel since our first stay in 2013. The room was excellent (we got upgraded to what was effectively a suite) with an amazing view of the ocean. We simply brought dinner back to the room just enjoy the view and the room. It was exactly the relaxing weekend we needed and wanted. I am so glad we stayed at Hofsas. Carrie at the front desk was exceptionally welcoming as well. Helpful staff all around too

Wow, where do i begin? First of all, if you have any mobilityvissues, this is not the place for you. Too many stairs and no elevator. Room furnishings looked like they were bought at a garage sale. Room had minimal amenities...no place to lay suitcases. Bathroom counter was taken up with a microwave. The "continental breakfast" was spartan at best and had to be carried back to the room where there was barely any space to sit down to eat. The place definitely needs a facelift. There's quaint and then there's old. This was not quaint.

The front staff person (Guadalupe) was sweet and very helpful. We first had a loud TV next door, kept on to keep the left-alone dog company. The TV sound was coming right through the adjoining door between the two units. Guadalupe moved us to a much more quiet room, and it was great. The ocean view is great. The room was very big (deluxe king), clean and comfortable.
Fools that we are, we came here during the height of school's-out tourist season. The kids at the pool were loud and obnoxious, but that's not the hotel's fault.
I also like that the hotel is far from the main part of town, which can get pretty crazy in summer.

Never moved our car after arrival since the main street, Ocean Blvd, was 3-4 blocks away, & lots of unique shops & eateries all around, & Ocean goes straight down a slight hill to Carmel Beach. Had a great 2 nights. Definitely recommend staying here.

Only thing I can complain about is the showerheads were made for somebody that’s about 5 foot two. So if you’re any taller than that, it’s very difficult to shower and the shower stall is built probably in 1950.

The hotel was very nice with very friendly staff and a lovely breakfast. I was impressed with some nice touches in the room such as the coffee provided and wine glasses. The main negatives were that the water pressure in the shower was so low and the shower head was awful, so it was basically a mist, not a way to wash yourself, the bed was very soft and uneven, and the tv remote did not fully work. Overall though, I would recommend to a friend. The vibe was great.
