I was very disappointed, the bathroom door was broken and got jammed constantly. It was a glass door, which made it very dangerous to use force when it got jammed. I thought the glass was about to break and fall on me. In addition, I wanted to make sure the bathroom had the necessary privacy before I booked it. The pictures on the website were not clear enough, which is why I got in contact with the hotel staff to confirm the description of the room and their bathrooms. I feel I was mislead because the bathroom door cannot fully close, therefore, there is a gap between that you can see through. Also, the bathroom walls were made out of semi-transparent glass, which you can see the shadow of the person inside the bathroom, therefore, what they are doing. The type of room might be good for couples, but this was not my case. I was with another person and my room had 2 beds, however, there was no privacy due to the design of the room and the bathroom. I would have never booked it if the hotel staff would have been honest with the description.

We thought hotel looked interesting with the roof top restaurant that is highly rated and were excited to stay there. upon arrival and wanting to book a reso, they say it's only open on Friday and Saturday nights. Like, put that in your advertisements. Room was small, very hot and window only opened push out 3 inches. No air conditioner we asked and they said they had one portable one they could bring up but we were heading out for the day and didn't want them in our room while away. I'm allergic to scent, perfume, after shave, scented laundry soap, hair care products and soap with scents etc. They use all of the above, and the workers in the breakfast area had such scents on, it was hard to even eat. Could not use the bathroom hair products or hand soap, it was terrible smelling. Room could have been cleaner, sheets looked old and had some stains. Staff friendly but I will not be going back. It was noisy with traffic as well. Location was good for our needs, just very noisy as we had to sleep with window open all night as it was so hot. I had to cover my nose and mouth in the elevator it was so bad they pumped scent in it. Very bad and not healthy to breathe that.

While we had a wonderful stay at this hotel there were some hiccups on the first night that could have easily been rectified. The AC unit was detached from the wall at the support bracket behind the AC unit which a technician could have easily attached with proper tools. The hotel staff instead of just reattaching the hose onto the bracket, they decided to bring another portable AC until which only cooled on ice. After an hour when the ice all melted in the AC unit the AC until was blowing out warm air. We advised the front desk and they brought another bigger portable AC unit to the room which ran on cold water which we did not want to keep refilling in the middle of the night while we slept. Specially the first night we were extremely tired from the travel. We finally asked the front desk to send a technician to fix the unit that was connected to the wall as we stepped out for a few hours to go sight seeing. When we returned they did have the AC Unit reattached with the hose and the issue was fixed. A few first hours of inconvenience could have been avoided. The hotel staff could have gave us two extra bottles of water when we asked as a courtesy for the inconvenience but they wanted to charge us which was disappointing. I’ll think twice staying at this location again unless they can make it better.

Inviting and welcoming staff. Dining in the restaurant was a treat. Paul and Luis took great care of us. The modern room overlooked the futbol stadium which allowed us to watch a futbol game. I will definitely return to this property.

Rough night at GYE Wyndham Tryp

Heavy glass door partially fell off the track when we arrived to our room. We called the front desk for help and they took a long time to arrive. We were completely stressed out waiting for them to come help us. They finally came and moved us to a smaller hot room but brought us a portable AC. It just took so long to finally get the room comfortable to relax after traveling. There is a dance club next door that blasts loud music. I had to go to the front desk at midnight to ask about the noise and was told the club closed at 3 AM. I was given another interior room to escape the noise (staffer who help me was nice and apologetic).

Honesty, the accommodations were very basic. The beds, desk and chairs are IKEA quality and we were not impressed by the room. The breakfast was basic and simple. I expected more for the price we paid especially after having such a bad night there.

What I did like is the view but the bed was hard to sleep, and the pillows were not great. The bathroom had damage on the floor. It was not repaired. The breakfast was good, but not enough selections. Every day was the same the staff was slow in the restaurant, the rooftop was beautiful, and the front desk were very professional and courteous and very helpful
And the weekend the area you could hear all the commotion outside couldn’t sleep

The TRYP by Wyndham Cuenca Zahir far exceeded any expectations that my wife and I could imagine. The room was immaculate and beautifully appointed. The hotel is centrally located with many shopping opportunities, and the Pumapungo ruins (a bit of a hike, but not bad) within walking distance. A wide variety of traditional Ecuadorian and international cuisine is also available within walking distance or via restaurant delivery services similar to those in the U.S. All of the above pales in comparison, however, to the staff of the TRYP by Wyndham Cuenca Zahir. Every member of every team, from concierge, to wait staff to housekeeping, is warm, welcoming and courteous. John, who works in the restaurant, kept us drinking and eating without wait. He was a rad guy and I will consider him a friend for life. Many staff members are multi-lingual and all staff members seem genuinely happy to help with any questions.

We did not have one negative experience at the TRYP by Wyndham Cuenca Zahir. We would have stayed forever!

We are a family of 4 adults, the room was too small for us and it was very hot. What we liked was the proximity to the historic center, We could walk without worries from the hotel to the city center. We only stay one night. If you want to see the historic center will be so hard to find parking so the hotel location for that purpose is excellent if I have to stay longer probably I I’ll go to a spacious, relaxing place far from the historic center.

I do not recommend this for a long stay. This is good for a long weekend. There is not enough space to store clothing for a week or longer with more than one person. There are not laundry facilities on premises as the ad stated. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel and not use Expedia. The rooms for Expedia are worse than the rooms advertised. We booked 3 rooms and one of the rooms needed to have the toilette fixed.

That said, the staff is absolutely exceptional. They are very friendly and attentive. My family is not the easiest group of people and they put up with them more than I could have. The views are absolutely amazing, whether towards the church domes or the stadium. You are a walk away from everything you need…Supermaxi, restaurants, bars, shopping, Turi, downtown. It does get loud in the area at night, so not good for the light sleeper.

Hotel is nice and view from room and roof is gorgeous as well as breakfasts was good.
No doorman to help when first arrive to show where to park, no help with luggage. Bas experience the night we stayed Friday because in room 505 there was a party and prostitutes walked in front of everyone in the lobby to get up to that room, just unbelievable that a hitel will allow this. Very noisy inside, very noisy outside due to another party. Lady in counter didn't want to move us to a different room (our room was next to the prostitutes room). At the end they had no choice but to give us a different room after we asked loke ten times. Not going back to yhis hotel anymore.

They did not allow us to go inside our room till 3 pm, but when we come, there were no towels at all.
Next night at 2 am some people on our floor start using noisy music and screaming. Hotel staff called for police and it took them more than 1 hour to fix it. We did not sleep till morning. Hotel does not have any city or area map and can not explain us how to reach any historic place.

Nice vibe. Older propery that is fairly updated. Friendly and professional staff. The location is great. We loved the restaurant and ate a lot of meals there.

The only rooms that seem to have ac/heat are the suites. Our room presented us with the choice of traffic noise and fumes OR hot and stuffy. This is a great place for short tourist visits but not for business trips or extended stays.

We would stay here again if we could get a suite.
