The staff were great. The property is well maintained. We stayed in the efficiency rooms and not the more charming rooms in the main building, but it was nice to have the extra room and kitchenette. It was reasonably priced and a convenient place from which to explore Quito.

Beautiful boutique hotel in central Cuenca. I love the decorations and the staff was helpful and kind. Very clean. Comfortable mattress. Breakfast is good. My only recommendation is for light sleepers. If that is you, bring some kind of white noise machine or fan. The walls are somewhat thin and the street noice can reverberate. I have such a machine (small one) that I carry when I travel and ear plugs. I needed both and those were sufficient for me to get some sleep.

This is a wonder old colonial building with quirky charm. Our little balcony overlooked the beautifully lit church domes at night. Great location for walking all around old town. Transport easy to get if needed. Staff was incredibly welcoming, helpful & so friendly. Felt so comfortable staying here during our visit to Cuenca! Comfortable bed, well appointed bathroom & plenty of space to unpack your bags. Thumbs up!!

This hotel is located in the heart of historic Cuenca. It is inside a renovated old mansion and very pleasing inside. I had a small apartment on the second floor with lots of space.
The staff is very friendly, and will help you with information and any taxi requests.
Unfortunately, there were hot water issues. The system was simply unable to keep up a constant supply of water at a reasonable temperature while taking a shower. Water would come out cold, then turn scalding hot for a few minutes, which would prompt one to open up the cold water faucet. After this every single time the hot water would disappear..no amount of fiddling with the system by the staff would fix it. Not being able to take a proper shower on vacation is very disappointing. In spite of the great location I honestly cannot recommend this property unless you enjoy ice cold showers.
I suspect that this issue may be present in other hotels in the area located inside historic buildings. Sometimes one regrets the desire to stay somewhere authentic and away from soulless Hampton Inns.

Property is in the historic center of the city which reminded us of a medieval European city, complete with cobblestone streets. Shopping and dining is all around and the area is walkable even at night. Taxis are readily available. The hotel is a historic building with character it's wood finishes are very well maintained. We had a relaxing stay and will stay here when next in Cuenca.

Of a three week trip to Ecuador, this was my favorite hotel! This hotel was great! The manager, Henry, spoke English well and was very attentive to our needs for our 4 day stay.
The breakfast was excellent each morning. One evening we ate at the on site restaurant and ouor food and service was again great!
I loved the unique old building. there are lots of exquisite touches. I also loved the decorating. Our room was hand painted with floral designs on the walls.
The only downside was that on Friday and Saturday nights there was a loud band playing somewhere up the street. They played until about 2 am. Even with the windows closed we could hear them.

I stayed here for 4 nights when I first got to Ecuador and again on my last night. This beautifully renovated building is a pleasure to stay at. The staff are kind and helpful. The food is also good. I just had breakfast delivered to my room. They are accommodating for special dietary requests. The manager also picked me up and dropped me off at the airport. He speaks fluent English. I even made a friend who rents an apartment in the back. Oh and there is hot water in the rooms, which is not always the case at some hotels!

This was a great, quiet place, and the staff was OUTSTANDING! Very helpful, accommodating, and extremely nice people.

The location is in the center of old Cuenca, so everything you’d need or want is within a 10-15 minute walk.

We had a wonderful time at the EB Hotel by Eurobuildings near the Quito Airport. This hotel is state of the art in hotel design. There are many unique features such as two rainfall shower heads allowing for two to shower at the same time, under table and bed light that is motion sensitive allowing for late night trips to the bathroom without turning on lights and distrupting the sleep of others. There is also ample space to store and open luggage. The wifi in the rooms is much faster than others we have experienced in South America. While the rest of the hotel is equally well thought out (such as a spa with massage and a steam room), the best part of the hotel was the staff. We felt like family. From Daniela the Food and Beverage manager to Angel (who makes delicious Pisco Sours) the bartender, our night there was one to remember. We only wish we could have stayed there longer. We later found out the secret behind this fabulous hotel, the owner! Marcos treats his employees (he calls them family) with respect and thinks of them as family. Additionally, he was personally involved with the special features previously mentioned in the rooms. My wife and I highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Treated like a valued guest here. Staff was exceptionally professional, attentive and friendly. Rooms and building are beautifully refurbished to reflect a bygone era (except for bathroom which was modern and included a fabulous massage/rain shower). Buffet breakfast includes both hot and cold options with many fruits represented. Location is great - in the heart of the historic area, less than five minute walk to main square. Excellent overall value.

Perfectly situated in The heart of cuenca. Very short walk to the cathedral and various tourist attractions. Staff was very helpful and very friendly. Hotel cleanliness was superb can’t complain.
The only complaint I have was that for some reason they shut off the water late at night, it wasn’t that big of a deal but it’s worth mentioning it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wishes to stay in a clean comfortable place for a decent price.

A Charming Hotel in all Respects

This was a wonderful little hotel near the city center. It was within walking distance to most everything in the city center area and was easy to locate. The traditional Colonial architecture gave this place a warmth and charm that made it inviting in so many ways, but the real charm was the staff who were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. I had booked an apartment which was in the new section of the hotel. It was clean and comfortable in all respects. The WIFI was good and the rooms in the apartment were spacious. What would make the place even better would be better lighting for shaving over the bathroom mirror. Breakfast was simple but good and the foods that needed to be warm were warm on the buffet table. The staff provided a small space heater for the room to use on the cooler evenings. I would not hesitate to consider this hotel again if I return to Cuenca.

A Historic Hotel in Cuenca

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is terrific, very easy to walk to any major attraction in the city. We arrived with a rental car and they have very convenient parking adjacent to the hotel. The hotel is very historic and beautiful. The breakfast was terrific, served on the rooftop patio. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, although the beds were very firm, and the bathroom had a separate small toilet room and separate shower. I would very much recommend this hotel for a historic small hotel in the centre of the city.

Close to local museums, Restaurants, Banks, shopping areas.
I arrived approximately 4:00am Saturday morning, late check in due to the drive from Guayaquil. They had my room ready. The room was located in that back area on the 1st floor. The room was nice with one full size bed, a kitchenette, sofa and chairs, but the room was kind of cold, no heater or extra blankets. No mini bar as stated in the documentation, no balcony (Hotel Los Balcones); otherwise nice.
My guess is that this was one of the rooms used for late arrivals, to keep the noise down so as not to disturb the sleeping guests.
The next afternoon, I was asked if I would like to be upgraded to another room with a balcony. Of course I said yes.
The upgraded room did not have a kitchenette like the other one, however, it was on the second floor, much warmer with an extra blanket and mini bar with snacks and beverages, very beautifully decorated with the old style furniture, two full size beds, hi-tech shower mechanism, and a balcony with beautiful flowers on it.
Needless to say, I was pleased with the room upgrade.

This hotel has a great location, lovely décor (lots of attention to detail - the lobby is stunning), courteous and helpful staff and offers a wide variety of choices for breakfast. Recently renoved - they were working on the exterior while we were there. Our room was nicely decorated and the bathroom was very spacious with the best shower we'd all in all of Ecuador! Very comfortable EXCEPT for the beds. I like a firm mattress, but the beds are HARD. My only complaint....

I visited Cuenca several times over 5 years, and I stayed in Hotel Los Balcones on this, my final visit as a non-resident to Cuenca before relocating to a condo in the city. I stayed for 3 nights on this visit, and the experience I had on this visit was the same as all my previous visits to this hotel--EXCELLENT! I have stayed at Hotel Los Balcones several times, and it feels like a second home to me. Not only is this well-maintained, open and airy historic colonial hotel beautiful--with a lot of well-polished hardwood floors and furnishings--but, over the years Los Balcones has been continuously updated and improved--especially in the bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable and snuggly, perfect for cool Cuenca nights. The breakfast buffet is very good, with plenty of fresh fruits and juices, along with the usual fare of coffee, tea and hot chocolate, breads for toast, cereals, eggs (to order), and a variety of hot and cold complementary items that usually include sausages, bacon, cold cuts, cheese, fried yucca, cheese empanadas, etc. The hotel restaurant has a very extensive lunch and dinner menu, and all meals are excellently prepared and prepared to order. The hotel does not have an elevator, however, and all the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, but the staff helps with carrying luggage to the room. The best feature of this hotel is the staff. Pleasant hotel, with decent breakfast, but does have traffic noise coming in from the street, while more noise came from the internal courtyard. Good place, so long as you aren't sensitive to noise.
