For $500 a night plus a daily $40 resort fee, it was a little ridiculous that they didn’t have a section of seating on the beach reserved for resort guests. If you want loungers and umbrellas, you were expected to pay a third party to rent them. Compared to the other resorts I’ve stayed at, this one was not worth the cost, won’t stay there again.

We had an amazing stay at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island! The resort was beautiful, clean, and relaxing from the moment we arrived. The grounds were gorgeous. We spent most our time in the pool adults only area, which was spa like. Luxury feel & perfect. Extremely comfortable lounge chairs with adding and lounge towels fresh. Covered canopies available for purchase and comfortable chairs on the tanning ledge in the water. Spa music. They serve you food and drinks. Very large hot tub. You are just steps from the beach made everything so convenient. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the whole property had such a peaceful, upscale vacation feel. There was always music playing in the lobby and entertainment. We enjoyed two of the restaurants on site with breakfast on the outdoor patio each morning and dinner one evening. It was the perfect place to unwind, enjoy Hilton Head, and make great memories. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had such a wonderful stay at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island! We’ve been coming to Hilton Head for over 20 years. We’ve stayed all over the island but really love Sonesta.The property itself is absolutely beautiful and so well maintained. From the gorgeous grounds to the spa-like adult pool area, everything felt luxurious, relaxing, and thoughtfully cared for.

The resort is just steps from the beach, which made the location perfect and so convenient. We loved being close to everything while still feeling tucked away in a peaceful resort setting. The beds were extremely comfortable, breakfast was amazing, and the customer service was excellent throughout our stay.

The resort is also beautiful to simply walk around and enjoy. You could tell guests were having a great time, and the whole atmosphere felt welcoming and fun. Overall, it was a gorgeous property in an amazing location with great service and so many thoughtful details. We would absolutely recommend it! 🌴✨

We stayed for 3 nights and our overall experience was good. Liked the private beach, well maintained pool and lot of great amenities. However, we didn’t like one thing - our room was not cleaned the second day and no towels were changed even though we asked the cleaning lady multiple times. Called the front desk in the evening and they also didn’t help much when I asked that at-least send someone to empty the trash bins and give fresh set of towels. The concierge person was on leave and there was no backup for this big resort.
Breakfast was good.

Loved that they had bonfires, but it was very upsetting the WiFi would not work and we had to go downstairs every time we needed it so the front desk would hook it up. But then it would kick us out randomly . My daughter had schooling in line I ended up using hot spot from my phone . The restaurant food had very little option and very overpriced.

We recently stayed at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head and overall had a pleasant experience. The resort's biggest strengths are its location and staff. Beach access is convenient, making it easy to enjoy the shoreline, and the employees were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The resort also offered activities and events for guests, which helped create a fun atmosphere and provided entertainment beyond the beach and pool.
The property was clean and well-maintained, and we enjoyed our time there. However, our biggest concern was the value relative to the price. We originally wanted to stay three nights, but the total cost was nearly $1,800, so we shortened our trip to two nights. Once on-site, we checked into extending our stay, but adding one more night would have cost over $700.
Instead, we booked a nearby hotel for our third night. It was less than half the cost and offered larger, more updated rooms, much more spacious bathrooms, and a more modern feel overall. While it was a slightly longer walk to the beach, it was still easily walkable.
Sonesta delivers on location, service, and guest activities, and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. That said, for the rates being charged, we expected more updated accommodations and a stronger overall value. We would consider staying again, but only if the pricing were more competitive.

My husband and I enjoy a nice long week on Hilton head Island at the Sonesta resort delivered top quality. From the common areas, the lounging pool for adults and the cleanliness of our room each day when we came in from a long day on the town and playing golf was superb. The shop in the lobby was well stocked and they attended to whatever needs we had. We will be coming back soon.

The location is good. It’s family friendly. The room could have been better. There was a smell in the bathroom, the water pressure made it hard to wash off in the shower, and there was a mold smell coming from the ac vent. We stayed at the pool one day due to too much wind on the beach and we had a difficult time getting food at the pool in the afternoon. Overall I would probably find somewhere else to stay if we were to return.

Only 1 elevator location in the entire facility....some difficulty getting to our far-away rooms. Only entry allowed through the front main entrance which meant go up the one elevator location and walk to the extremities of the building if that is where your room is located. Get a room near the elevator! Staff and housekeeping were very accommodating. Parking for the most part is far away from the entrance. Again, with only one entrance, close parking spots were generally not available. The air conditioning broke down for 2 nights of our stay...rooms got pretty hot. They did discount our bill and gave us a free night because of the inconvenience. All in all...7 out of 10.

We booked this property at the last minute after another trip had to be abandoned due to flight cancellations. We weren't sure what to expect at the Sonesta as it was our first time. It surpassed all expectations. The property is conveniently located with easy beach and Shipyard community access. It offered a number of other amenities and never felt overly busy or mobbed, even in the pool and bar areas. The property is freshly renovated and the rooms are clean and spacious. Finally, the service was excellent. The staff took pride in ensuring our stay was a great experience. I would book again without hesitation.

We travelled to HHI for the first time with 2 very young kids. We loved the hospitality of Sonesta- location, serene surroundings, access to beach, views, kids amenities and buffet breakfast, really good. We got a room upgrade and we just loved the view. We will return next time!

We did not like staying on the 1st floor as the balcony is very important to hang drying wet swimsuits. We also missed the great view of the pool. Otherwise, we noticed several improvements to the property since staying here two years ago! We absolutely love the poolside bar and cafe. Fantastic place for a family with active kids. Not to mention beach access too!

The hotel was supposedly renovated. However there was paint peeling/chipping from the ceiling and throughout the hotel, the bathroom shower curtain was disgusting it had pink mold at the bottom, the hotel was not very clean for the price you pay. they also told us at check in that pets were only allowed on the 1st floor however we saw Someone going to Their room on the 5th floor with a huge dog. The hotel also smells “old”.

The outdoor pools were nice… but they close at someone’s meaning of dusk?? But had loud music going in the pavilion til’ 11:00pm. Because of a wedding party. Whys isn’t the pool open til’ 11:00 when quiet time supposedly starts. A resort with beach access should have chairs and umbrellas for guests. Not here they nickel and dime you on rentals. The cabana bar at the pool closes at 4 for food and 5 for drinks and drinks are way over priced for what you get. Food was ok. Restaurant was a little over priced for limited menu. Grounds were beautiful and well kept. Staff were all awesome. They need to to better at their pricing for the stay if they want rental fees. Personally we like sitting poolside at night with a drink, relaxing and visiting. Not here you are SOL after dusk. Probably will find another place next time.

Everything was updated and comfortable - including the beds. Staff was amazing. We had a medical emergency and were in the hospital for two days. Management called to check on us and helped us extend our stay over a busy weekend. Doug Triplett (manager) was especially helpful and understanding. Cannot say enough good things! So thankful for how they took care of us in a crisis.

Beautiful spot in Hilton Head with all amenities needed and not so big that it’s difficult to get around. Short walk over dock to gorgeous sandy beach, pools cozy in the middle. Super friendly staff. Property grounds very clean and great for morning walks, excellently maintained multiple paths to venture the forested neighborhoods. From couples to families, seniors and mobility restricted guests there os’s so much to enjoy.

This was the perfect spot for our week of rest and relaxation following my recent retirement. They told us it had been recently renovated, and remodeled and the place was absolutely beautiful. The rooms were spacious, clean and very up-to-date. Lots of lighting and plenty of plugs for all our gadgets. The property was beautifully laid out to create a perfect oasis located right on the beach. Large family pool and also a large adult relaxation pool with hot tub that made for the perfect place for us to unwind. Bike rentals, organized activities, and lots of spaces for impromptu chill time. The restaurants and bars are perfectly placed to compliment the spaces. There’s even one along the walking trails leading out to the beach. It appeared to have a large function space as well as a beautiful outdoor pavilion for those looking to host an event. We feel that the listing and the photos didn’t do the place justice. We rented bikes and they gave us a map of the trails and where to head to for shopping and some lunch - and you can even ride along the beach when the tide is lower. We rented a car as we spent three previous days in Savannah. Plenty of free on site parking very close to the building. Any request we made of the staff was carried out quickly and cheerfully, Poolside servers during the day. All in all we had a sensational week and barely had any reason to leave other than to try other restaurants on the island.

My husband and I stayed for five nights at the Sonesta Resort and found it to be a relaxing environment with helpful staff. There are two restaurants within the hotel and the food is good but overpriced. The pool areas were heated and well kept. We enjoyed the ping pong table and badminton in the entertainment area. The beach was easily accessible and close to a food shack if you wanted a snack while enjoying the ocean view. The hotel room was spacious and recently updated for a new feel. The bathroom was spacious as well and I was pleased there was a bathtub and shower. There was no closet in the room, however, and only a small space to hang a few clothing items. The bathroom had a stand alone sink with no space for toiletries. I used the foldable luggage rack to place my small suitcase on so my hair and skin care items were within reach.

We loved our stay at Sonesta Hilton Head. It was our first time staying there and we will definitely book again in fall. I planned a birthday getaway for my husband and it was perfect. The staff is so sweet and thoughtful, the property is very well maintained, rooms are impeccable, restaurants/food is amazing, parking is so convenient. It is great for taking a nice walk to beach and is also very close to shopping and other things to do on the island. We had the most relaxing, stress free stay. It was absolutely perfect. I cannot think of one thing I would suggest to fix or change about our stay. We could not be happier with the choice, we will recommend to friends and family. We will definitely be back in September.

Entire stay was 5 stars except for checkout at the end. Orville at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful which is a shame because all of the other staff were exceptional and I loved everything about the resort. The aesthetic, the amenities, the beach access and the pools were wonderful. The food was top tier and I was very impressed with all of the restaurants. Sadly, the outdoor fireplaces weren’t working but we enjoyed the fire pits, hot tub and turtle feeding. We also rented bikes and beach chairs which was a breeze. Highly recommend this property and aside from one individual everything else was excellent.

I believe there was not a lot of confidence and communication coming from the check-in person did not even give us a wrist band for pool and we had to go back and get one. The carpets in the hallways were very challenging to push a suitcase on.

Our stay at the Sonesta Hilton Resort was amazing! From check-in to checkout, the staff provided great customer service and everyone were very friendly! We had a poolside room with a great view and the room was nice, clean, and newly renovated. The adult pool and jacuzzi were awesome and it was so nice to have a separate area for adults only. The resort is conveniently located on the beach and has plenty of restaurants and amenities so you do not have to leave the property. It is also centrally located and close to Coligny Plaza in addition to plenty of restaurants in the area. I visited the spa during our stay and it was a relaxing experience. I will definitely be returning to stay at this resort!

If you're a couple shaking off a long winter, the Sonesta Resort in Hilton Head really delivers.

Our room was spacious and thoughtfully laid out — king bed, bistro table, balcony overlooking the pool with a glimpse of the ocean beyond. We loved stepping out there in the morning to take in the salt air. The bathroom was nicely functional: long countertop, excellent water pressure, multiple showerhead settings, and more towels than you'd ever need. The details matter, and they got them right.

The resort itself is beautifully designed for both relaxation and activity. Two large, heated pool areas — including an adults-only pool with a hot tub and cushioned lounge chairs — plus a boardwalk to the beach with a foot shower, gas fire pits, a tiki bar, outdoor grille, and a patio that's ideal for a slow breakfast with too many cups of coffee. A provisions store that’s open late rounds out the convenience factor nicely.

The staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating throughout our stay.

We had a rental car and made the most of the area — paddleboarding, tennis, hiking a nearby nature preserve, and great dinners out. Golf and bike rentals are easy options too.

Pro tip: Skip the $30/half-day beach chair rental. Head to Walmart, grab two chairs for $15 each, use them all week, and pass them along to a fellow guest on your way out.

We hope to return. Highly recommend.

Staff was nice & helpful. Lots of smiles! Our room had a private patio, which was nice. Mini fridge & k-cup coffee maker in rooms.

The restaurants were great. We ate breakfast & dinner at 2 of them. Both good food at reasonable prices. Very convenient!

We rented bikes (which were delivered right to our hotel) & were able to bike the “shipyard” trails right from the front entrance of the hotel. Great!

The property itself was beautiful and very clean, which initially made for a great impression. Unfortunately, my experience with the staff completely overshadowed the property.

I was charged a total of $670 for two random fees, and when I went to the front desk for clarification, they had very little information about the charges. They never once said I would be billed for this during initial check in, and I paid everything in full-in cash. I was told I would be reimbursed at checkout, but I have still not received any refund. Trying to get answers was frustrating, as the staff seemed uninterested in helping and even displayed noticeable attitudes when I was simply asking for an explanation. We were not the only ones dealing with the same issue, which in a sense makes you feel better but really sucks when you’re charged almost SEVEN HUNDRED dollars and may not even receive a refund as they promised. If you do stay, make sure to get receipts for EVERYTHING!!

Additionally, the service lacked any sense of hospitality. Upon arrival, we were only told where the elevator was—no welcome, no helpful information, needed wrist bands for the pools, did not even receive those, nothing that made us feel valued as guests.

Overall, while the property itself is great, the poor customer service and unresolved billing issues made this a disappointing stay. I will not be returning nor will I be telling others to stay there.

This was our second stay in 6 months and that should say everything. An all round great resort of the perfect size with immaculate grounds and great amenities. Great to have two heated pools and a large jacuzzi. Direct access to private beach is cherry on top.We love to stroll around the property, watch turtles, birds as well as play games around one of their fire pits late in the evening. They also have all kind of food options within the property. I don’t think we will stay anywhere else at Hilton Head.
