Clean room, concise check in instructions. Ideally situated in a lovely piazza with restaurants and bars nearby. Great location if like us you are going on a cruise. Port is within walking distance even with my wife’s luggage!

The B&B was fine, good location, clean beds, etc. The host was responsive. The only thing I did not appreciate is the cleaning people arriving 2 hours before checkout. They started with very loudly cleaning the common areas which was disturbing, as we were hoping to sleep in. But the worst part was when they attempted to open the bedroom door without knocking. Thankfully we had the door locked, but it felt like an invasion of privacy. We didn't get in until almost 11pm so having them arrive at 8:30am while we were trying to rest was frustrating to say the least.

The room was nice. The location was convenient. The shower in the room with a barhroon was honestly no more than 2ft x 2ft and water pressure was lacking. This would be a challenge to most people wanting to take a shower

This is not what we expected. The explanation to get into the room was not real clear. There was a box with the key in it but two doors with not label to tell us which door. Several different keys with no label. Once in we had to listen to a loud restaurant just outside our window. Bed was terrible, very small with a real old mattress that was lumpy. The room was clean. Not up to Expedia's standards.

This property is a private house 3 bedrooms sharing with strangers. Is dirty no hot water or any facilities no washing liquid soap or tea coffee. Bins not emptied . Air conditioning only in bedroom very noisy. No cupboards or wardrobe space full of bed linen and towels every single cupboard in house.
2 flights of steep stairs only sutable for able bodied people. Entrance is a disgrace first impression is bad but gets worse.TV only works if you have your own Netflix or Prime video.
Hundreds of people in square at night very noisy.
Cleaner starts at 8 banging and clattering extremely rude cant speak English demanding €6 city tax.
Would definitely not recommend.

A Basic/Small Room in an Excellent Location

This unit is in a great location within walking distance to restaurants, shops and the water front promenade. The Red Carpet (restaurant in the building next door) makes a great pizza. This unit is part of an apartment, whose bedrooms were turned into individual units. The bedroom was too tiny for a family of three. The door to the unit is a pocket door (closet style) that doesn’t block the noise from outside and makes you feel there is not privacy. Strangely enough, hot water was only available after the third person took a shower.

This property was very convenient. The door to the hallway is very difficult to open. I was unable to get it unlocked and did not leave the hotel the BNB when I got in. This property does not have a refrigerator in the room. It is a shared area outside the rooms. There isn’t any food on the property.

Check in was a Sunday, on our way there they told us air was down and couldnt be fixed until next day. It was unbearably hot inside and was much much smaller than it looked online. Was given a refunded but only partial, not sure why? If you like tiny rooms it will work for you.

We were arrived around 9pm after an 18 hours journey. The place is not easy to find because there is no clear address or sign in the building, and also the entrance way is embedded in restaurants tables, full and very crowded plaza. Next, we followed instructions to get key, however, the lock is not easy to open, maybe it’s an European style that you won’t tell when lock is open, key can keep turn forever….. when we went out for late dinner, we were afraid you cannot open door again as door lock is not very friendly.

This was a perfect place for a solo traveler before a cruise. Restaurants close by, AC worked very well once it got going, and a short walk to the beach.

That said, don’t walk to the cruise port, go to the train station and catch the €6 bus. You can pay with your phone as you get on.

Also, the keys made things tricky for me … yes, the keys … to lock rooms/bathroom you have to have the keys. They’re not what American think of keys - more like an ole timey skeleton type key. You have to perfectly place them in the lock — I swore I was going to be stuck in the bathroom! The keys like this are used for the bathroom and for getting into the BB (not the exterior door or room) and the Papavero bathroom). Not that big of a deal, sure, but a little panic inducing at times!

Breakfast voucher was great. You do have to leave €3 cash before leaving so have euros or visit an ATM close by.

All in all — great place for me. ❤️

The room is above a pizzeria and as is the custom, the locals stay until after midnight each night and are having a jolly good time. Had trouble going to sleep.
Also, wanted to stream a TV show but could not locate the WI-FI account. Reached out to owner and he told me to turn my device off then on and try again-absolutely no help. We ended up trying to turn in but didn’t get to sleep until the party in the square broke up.

This B&B was just right for what we needed—a one-night stay before catching our cruise the next morning. The location was very convenient and made travel easy.

One unique touch was the old-fashioned key and lock, which was a fun little detail! The room had everything we needed, so no complaints there. Just a heads-up—it’s a communal space, so if others are in the shared area, you’ll likely hear some movement in the morning.

A couple of things to note: there’s no elevator, so be prepared for two flights of stairs. Also, if you’re arriving at night, the entrance is poorly lit—having a flashlight ready is a good idea!

I think the management should send the information through WhatsApp or email before check-in. I met other guest waiting at the door and if I wasn't there they would have had issues getting in. The place was charming, but needs some adjustments. The bathroom was down the hall from my room, which was inconvenient. The towels are not soft, and shower trickles water, because shower nozzle needs to be replaced. It was enough for a short stay.

Pros;stayed here for 4 days before the cruise. Location is amazing if you are cruising out of the port. The train station is nearby and we took it to visit Rome. They provide you vouchers for breakfast with three options on where to redeem. This is not a fancy place but it is a bargain for what you pay. We had the mimosa room. Few cons: door lock and keys are old school and may be hard at first to figure out. We had a bit of a problem and we also assisted a couple across the hall . The staff forgot one day of breakfast vouchers, I let them know the next day. Will book again as we really enjoyed our stay .

Check in was easy, was not expecting a walk up. We would not recommend this unit. Walls are paper thin and we could hear people snoring, and certainly their conversations you’re not supposed to walk in to that space but that area. Shower was a trickle with not much hot water and a doorway abt a foot wide to get into shower. Just a disappointing experience.

We booked this just for a couple of nights at the end of our cruise rather than flying straight home. We were able to gain entry to the B & B early which was super. It would have been nice if there had been more kitchen facilities eg more cups, plates and kitchen cleaning items. Bedroom could have done with a few more electrical sockets

Absolutely no frills backpackers/dorm style accommodation, people should know room Papavero has 2 single trundle beds and a disconnected bathroom. The so called B&B is unattended with no value facilities, breakfast is a voucher for coffee and a croissant at the local cafe if its open. There are better stays in Civitavecchia, i wouldn't stay again. Price says it all

They had information posted around the room in English and Italian which was very helpful. The people around there were very helpful. I’d stay there again but select a larger room. There was no talk or sign of any kind of breakfast. They clean with vinegar which might be ok for some but not me. We had to leave the windows open and then the noise from the restaurants below was very loud well into the night.
Also no shampoo or bar soap for a shower. There was no one who could speak any English. It says check in time is 12 but the unit was not ready and you have to pay the cleaning ladies 2 Euros per person in cash on check out. Don’t bother

The property was clean, safe, and a short distance from the train. You do need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the room and you are asked to pay a tourist tax, 2 euros/person/night (cash). The room is conveniently located to shopping and dining. The room is walkable distance to the cruise ships, approximately 2 miles.

Convenient location to train station and cruise ports. few negatives 1) unit was not easy to find (better instructions or map would help) 2) AC was not available the night we stayed due to condensation issues, which made sleeping uncomfortable. And the management, instead of letting us know and perhaps with an apology or compensation like offering us a different room, hid the remote so we can’t use the AC. This caused us time to look for the ac remote not knowing about the problem. And when we borrowed a remote from a tenant next door to turn on the AC was when we experienced the leaks and had to turned it off. 3) the area was rather noisy late into the night.

This place was perfect for us as a launch point for a cruise. It’s not what you might would expect in an upscale setting. It’s Italy. It’s old, it’s not fancy, there is some walking required to get transportation. You check in via a phone call. You don’t see anyone from the place till the next morning but we loved it. Plenty of
Eating and shopping near by. It was a great taste of Italy to begin our cruise.

It was pretty difficult for us to find the property when we first got there as the restaurant it tells you to look for was closed and you couldn’t see the sign for the name of it. We weren’t able to use the breakfast vouchers provided because both restaurants ended up being closed the day we were there. Nice and close to port (we were able to walk to port and use the free shuttle in port to get to our cruise line).

Property was initially charming, but water pressure in shower was poor and bad drainage caused water to overflow onto the floor. One of the closets was used for storage of dirty sheets. Area around property was rather noisy into the wee hours of the night.

On the plus side, close to the cruise port. And property building was well-secured.

Second floor twin bedroom in old dark building. No staff on site, Twin room was not as depicted in the offering. Awkward dimly lit bathroom which had no washcloths, shower soap and an awful shower. Very noisy outside at night. Calls to management went to a phone that would not accept messages. Day maid took the AC controller so AC would not work. It was an awful value, upset our trip. and we should be reimbursed.
