They unexpectedly allowed for an early check in. They arranged early morning transport to the airport. Hotel was right next to a Mall, area was safe. Train station right next door. Self serve “bar” in the lobby for adult beverages. Excellent price, clean room.

Do not stay at this property if you want a good nights rest or two even! There is a Rave nextvdoorcwhich played both nights until 2 to 3 am each night. The hotel didnt do anything to inform us at all about it. We had no sleep both nights especially since we did an all nighter flight from Canada. We will be looking into a refund shortly.

The hotel is convenience for one to two days but the front staffs is not friendly at all. The breakfast is good specially the coffee but the dinning restaurant needs to change the chefs. The room locker needs to be changed. Overall it’s good for a short period of time. However, the view is spectacular. Thank you.

Property looks like it use to be an old beautiful grand hotel that was forgotten about. One of the pools is green and trashed and not used. The restaurant is not the greatest food. The second pool is a $10fee and you have to wear a swim cap to use.
The beds were not very comfortable.
There was mold in the bathroom
And you can head everything.

For our overnight stay before our cruise we wanted somewhere close to the port. This hotel was budget friendly and a great location option.

You could tell that the hotel had been around for awhile. It was clean and quaint but there were no modern upgrades to the face or entryway. My husband and the driver laughed at the fact that he had to self serve by grabbing a trolly to unload the luggage from the taxi.

The process for checkin was short and seamless. The staff at the counter were very nice and accomodating. They assisted us with contacting taxi services to take us to and from the city centre of Civitacchia and also to the cruise port on the day of embarkation.

The elevator didnt seem fully functional. It was very old and could only fit two people at a time. Thankfully, they gave us a room on the first floor so my son and I were able to walk up to meet the elevator that held the trolly with our bags.The staircase leading to the room was dark and the lights in the corridors were very dimmly lit and seem to operate on a sensor. It was a little creepy entering and exiting the room but for the most part we did not feel unsafe.

The room and bathroom was clean and spacious...but again, we could tell that not much had been done to upgrade the aesthetics except for the wall paint and design. So anyone looking at pictures posted should manage their expectations. The breakfast buffet was small.

Overall I would say its a decent option for short term stay i.e.3 nights max.

Initial appearance is outdated, staff were okay at reception. The room is very outdated while the bathroom and shower were terrible. The toilet doesn't flush properly, and the shower has no hot water, at best just lukewarm. Water leaks out of the shower into the bathroom area. The restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful and the food at dinner was very good. Breakfast not so much.

Only 2 of the staff member were kind and helpful (youngest front desk lady and the tall man at the resto/bar. The furniture is falling appart and uncomfotable, the patio and doors so dirty and didn't want to use it. The shower room #201 had mold and conners in need of a deep cleaning. Matress are very thin and hard. Couldn't get snaks or drinks in between meals...one of the worst stay I've ever had. Thanks to those 2 employees that made my stay a bit better by truly wanting to give me a good experience. Wojld definatly not go back nor recommand this hotel.

Alex from the front desk was very rude upon on check in. We felt we had zero help when we arrived early in regard to check in. He didn’t mention the hotel has an on site restaurant we could wait at/ eat lunch and told us to head to the center of town to eat, which is a minimum 40-45 mins walk. He told us we would be checking in later than Expedia had us listed at ( he dated 3pm) which made us missed a pre paid ticketed event we had planned. We received help once a young lady checked in the late afternoon around 215pm. We didn’t get room keys until 245.

Getting a taxi from this area even to the “city center” is difficult and very pricy. Every ride share we order canceled.

The room was very clean and the view was breath taking so if not for anything else, the views are worth it.

We had dinner at the restaurant on site and the food was very well priced and good. They prefer cash but did have a card reader for payment.

They do offer transfer to the port for a fee that you have to arrange the day before you need it at the front desk. It was about 12 euro per person with card and 10 per person with cash. It’s an outside company so you pay the driver. The hotel is only a few miles from the port which is nice.

Hotel is in a good location, rooms are clean but water for showers and toilet was very low pressure and sometimes didn’t work at all. We spoke to the reception about it and it appeared to be a normal thing and told to wait 30 mins it should get better, which it did but if your on a time schedule you could have an issue. I’m sure it was a stellar hotel in its day.

A Great Night's Sleep in Civitavecchia.

The hotel property location is absolutely beautiful. It appears either under reconstruction or in continual decay. It appears there is little or no staff present other than a couple who manage the front desk and the restaurant/bar alone. Dinner was very good and we appreciated the husband who was the only server and only person present. No one was present at breakfast and no one could figure out the coffee/expresso machine.

However, for the price we paid for one night, we would most definitely cone back due to the beautiful view and quality bed and mattress.

It was an excellent value for cruise passengers looking for a great night's sleep at a very reasonable rate.

Our hope os that it is under improvement as the property is gorgeous and could be turned into a 5 star resort.

It's only 4 kilometers from the Civitavecchia cruise port which makes it very convenient. Please know that dinner on their balcony was tremendous and we appreciated the service we received.

The property is a long way from the port and train it has no transfer options and Taxi are hard to find when the boats are in harbour.
They have no working lift and we had to go up four flights of stairs
The doors in our room blew open during the night as it didn’t have proper locks

The bathroom was clean but shower screen was rusty and would get stuck when you closed it

This hotel is a complete dump! Furniture is old, damaged, moldy. Totally discusting. Bathroom is old, toilets brown stained, moldy tub. Front desk personnel totally rude and unhelpful. Poor intetnet / wifi available. They list themselves as a 4 star hotel when they aren't even a half star. Spent the whole night sitting in a chair waiting to leave for the port. Never again!

AC didn’t work. Shower caused flooding in the bathroom that went out into the hall. Clearly not the first time since the wood door was rotten as were the baseboards in the hall. Broken tiles, mold, missing plaster, holes in wall, bird poop all over the patio, twin beds moved together to make king that separated during sleep, half used soap in bathroom. The view is beautiful and the people were kind. Would not stay here again.

Overall pleased, picturesque location and convenient to have restaurant to get reasonably priced and satisfactory meal - although services was a little slow. Don’t rate your hotel 4 stars. You will disappoint all your customers, cos it is only worth 1 star. Although you have a good sea view, almost everything in this hotel is terribly old, damage and dirty. No blankets in each room. Only provide a thin bedsheet for you. It is too thin and too cold. Besides, the walls are too thin, we can hear noise next door and outside. People have party near the pool until 2-3 am. No one can sleep in the thin bedsheet and noisy environment.
The swimming pool costs Euro 10 for each person. You have to bring swimming cap otherwise you have to pay few dollars.
Food for lunch is so bad. No taste and non fresh bread and seafood.
I have to trust other people’s comments. I know why they got low scores now.

This Hotel must have been something way back in the 70s or maybe 80s but right now it's a rundown derelict with very few positives. The sorry situation is compounded by a very unhelpful front desk personnel who wouldn't even help provide options for guests who were stranded without transportation not to talk of even providing drinking water for a family with kids.
Our stay there was altogether something that must not be allowed to reoccur.

My wife and I HATED this hotel. The property is ocean front (which was the only good thing about the place). However, the hotel itself is very run-down. The hotel is located far away from city-center and Taxi service in the town is not plentiful. Their was a multi-hour wait for dinner service. We had to walk around a quarter mile to the ONLY nearby restaurant, which was a small, mediocre pizza place. If you are planning a cruise out of this port city ... I would suggest: (1) stay in Rome and take a taxi/limo directly to the cruise terminal. (2) find a satisfactory hotel in Civitavecchia City Center ... sadly not many suitable choices. Whatever you do ... I would NOT recommend staying at Mercure Civitavecchia Sunbay Park Hotel.

The room was not very clean, the common areas are dirty, the service was not helpful, and the price of everything was outrageous. The breakfast is an edible with old bread, powdered eggs, and flavor aid versus real juice. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had and I would never go back at any price.

The property was tired and needs updating, the furniture in the room was basic, the mattress on the bed was uncomfertable, there was a shortage of staff in the dining room, the removal of used crockery from tables at breakfast was slow, the buffet had limited choices and ran out of food during the breakfast time, tbe coffee options were limited, the waiting staff had very limited english. Most guests were complaining. I cannot recommend this hotel at all.

First the positives - the views are fantastic and the staff was very pleasant & helpful. That was where the positives stopped for me. The property is in need of repair. Doors don't open or close correctly, windows and shutters have similar issues. The shower was dirty and really small. It is a place that was inexpensive and you get what you pay for here.

Quite possibly one of the worst hotel stay’s ever. Dirty everything, unfriendly staff, the place was falling apart and the surfaces of everything we touched seemed dirty. Stains, bleach smell, hairs, mold, yuk - not worth 1 star. A real shame as this seemed like a wonderful hotel 20 years ago. A horrible representation of the Mercure Hotel brand. We were afraid to sleep in the bed after seeing all the stains. I’ll be writing to Mecure directly and Hotels dot com for a refund - this place needs to be truthfully reported. 1 star until they fix it up.

We arrived not realizing that this was the same dirty otel we had stayed at laast year. I dont normally give bad reviews but this time, october 19, 2023 i need to say something. We found evidence of bed bugs in our room 206. We left immediately and also took picctures. The room was filthy. We asked for a refund but they have refused. I just dont want anyone else to go through what we did today. Way to ruin a day!

Upon arrival given key and told where to go abruptly
Went to resturant for evening meal, Got my chicken - which was in fact quite nice - then after I was done my chips that i ordered with my chicken came, by that time the meal was basically over.
Had a blown light in the toilet, which they were not going to fix until I had checked out the next day. Very dark and dingy using the light from the hall outside.
The view from my balcony however was beautiful, unfortunately that is not enough to take me back
Room was threadbare, staff were not helpful. Hotel is quite bit away from the port beachfront. Onlu one electrical outlet for charging devices
No water or any other amenities provided in the room either.

Property is quaint but the staff was unwelcoming and discourteous; our “superior” room came with few amenities; the tv did not work and when we inquired about it, a deceptive promise was made to fix, and no attempt to fix was made; the shame is that the property has such potential and our stay could have been much more pleasant, but it was as if the staff went out of their way to be unwelcoming. If the desired response from us as tourists was to say we would never go there again, the staff achieved that goal. This was our first experience in Italy, and unfortunately it was not a good one.

Hotel was disappointing and not as seen in the pictures. It is old and unkept. Our room was not made when we arrived, with no pillow cases and dirty bathroom. We requested another room which took a while to make it happen. The pool is not part of the hotel and you need to pay to access it. It seems to be a public pool for the area. They didn’t have any seats available but luckily another guest who spoke Italian helped us get a seat. The only positive is the air conditioning in our room since the hotel has no fans and feels like an oven.

Not pleasant. It’s far away from the port. Not walking distance to anything. The front desk was rude. Check in was unprofessional and worse at check out. The lady tried to charge me for an extra day. After disputing that with her she then demanded I pay her before I leave. I explained to her that I pre paid through Hotel.com. I even showed her a PayPal statement confirming payment. She refused to listen or to call. She said it was my problem to undo when I return to the US. So I no choice but to pay. I didn’t want trouble in a foreign country. What a way to start a vacation. If they don’t know how the payment policy works they should not be a featured hotel on this website.

POSSIBLE BEDBUGS ALERT! Checked in at front desk and she said we had booked twice so with many attempts through Expedia emailing and calling the manager he wouldnt give us our money back for one of the bookings which we knew was not Refundable (in print) but it was caught right away and he wasnt even full ! We also found dirty walls with cat paw prints and bedroom corner walls with dark spots …the outside patio had trash and bird feathers all over! I got covid on a cruise so was required to isolate so we booked this hotel and had a very open room with lots of ventilation and two beds to keep my husband away from me… the Tv didn’t work so they said we could have a very very small room with one bed … we asked if it could be replaced or fixed and they denied our request . We also found red raised bites ( looked like BEDBUGS)) on our face, arms and legs and took pics to show manager .. he offered to put us in a different room but we didn’t trust their beds and asked for a partial refund which he refused. We booked another hotel. Expedia repeatedly called to get refunds but he wouldnt budge! Please beware of this place! All this when dealing with being in a foreign country with covid! I would love to post pics if there was a place!! Just save yourself some anxiety and go elsewhere!

Even though this was close to the port, it was a poor hotel. The AC in the room didn’t work, the mattress was awful and old, the phone in the room didn’t work, the shower was old and rusty and tiny. There were no toiletries in the room except for soap. The linens were thin and worn. I would never stay here again. We paid over $300 per night for this pitiful room.

There is no way that this is a 4 star hotel and don't be duped by the Mercure in its name. Starting with the positives our room was spacious and had a great view with a nice balcony. The meal we had in the restaurant was good.The staff were helpful and organised taxis for us.
However the hotel is more like a B&B in terms of facilities. The bar has very limited hours and trying to get a simple thing like a coffee was impossible for most of the day and there were no facilities in the room to make one. Breakfast was Ok if you are happy with pastries and cereals and the only hot food available was luke warm scrambled egg and bacon.
The hotel is isolated in an area with no shops and limited restaurants. It did us for an overnight stay but I will not be going back.

Loved the ocean views and animals I spotted along the coast. Quiet and beautiful sunset. The stay was magical. Food was “the best breakfast I ever had” per my father who had lived and traveled everywhere from Europe to Asia and beyond.

BEWARE

This is supposedly a 4 star MERCURE hotel. This is a joke!
The walls, floors are old and stained. Very old shoddy furniture although the bed was clean and the empty fridge worked. But 4 Star??? Who are they kidding. The toilet in my room didn't flush They said it would be fixed by the time I came back - left in the morning and by 6pm that night still not working so they swapped my room with a loo that did work. The only 4 star thing about this place is the beach view. I ate at the hotel and unfortunately was sick. I couldn't check with the person who ate the same thing if he was ok or not as I was so sick I couldn't leave the room. I tried ringing hotel reception from 7.30am and could never get through. My cousin who is Italian and was coming off a cruise to meet me at 12pm rang me - I told her what had happened and she sent the police over to reception- so someone in reception could bring me over some camomille tea and dry biscuits so I could take some pills. She said this behaviour is unheard of in an italian hotel. The night before I had felt sorry for the staff as they try - but I said to them - the 4 star rating is a complete scam. They just work there and don't know what to do. But also - I thought- is it possible to keep ringing reception internally for 2 hours and get no response?
And my cousin had tried externally and still couldn't get through. I warn people although it says pool and other things - you must check first when hotels actually open the pools.TERRIBLE

By US standards this is an older hotel and amenities. The staff is very friendly and helpful with accommodation and taxis etc.
There is no AC as I could tell, but we did not need it as the nights were very cool. They had TV and internet and the restaurant was really delicious!

The setting is stunning. The room was comfortable.

Very noisy until late over the bar area. If you want to sleep make sure your room isn’t over the bar. If you like to party the. Over the bar is fine.

Room large and comfortable; pool is nice.
Not Good: all amenities advertised are an extra charge (pool, shuttle, etc). Staff was less than helpful . One lady on afternoon shift at front desk was wonderful. THe rest, if and when they helped seemed like it was a burden. OUr second dinner there, the staff made us feel like we were a real imposition. Never been treated so shabily. Will never go back there!

The worst

The worst hotel experience ever. We arrived after a long boat ride, expecting some well deserved sleep, we were eaten alive by the mosquitos, the rooms were filthy and the televisions don’t work, there is no minibar, and no room service. Very disappointed for a Mercure hotel

Horrible!

They lost the reservation and we wait for more than 3 hrs in the lobby. All other customers coming in had their keys but not us. The Men at the front was rude and screaming to the staff and told me to shut off. That is the most incredible situation I never been for a check in. Hotel.com should considered stopping dealing with this hotel. It was run down, dirty with bed sheet on lobby furniture. The shower was terrible the door didn’t closed and it was rusted and dirty.
