The room smelled like sewage and there was no ac. The fridge did not work and there was bugs in the room. Way over priced. They have a no cancelation policy so we had to stay there. We spent the most we could outside. The heated pool was not heated either.

The only reason this place is ok is because of the location on the beach

The oceanfront room was great! The room was large with a fireplace. Sleeping with the sounds of the ocean waves crashing was peaceful. Short walk from the room to the beach. The outdoor fire pits were great but the smoke definitely wafted into the room. We would stay here again and enjoyed a happy and restful stay.

This is a hidden gem! Check in was easy. We were given a downstairs room to accommodate our traveling dogs. The room was a little outdated BUT super clean and charming! We had a fireplace but didn’t use it. The view outweighed the decor. We had an amazing view of the ocean! Easy access to the beach too!

A nice, clean hotel right on the ocean. I only saw one of the pools, some children told me that the other one was cold. It is in the parking lot. It looked small but the kids sounded like they were having fun. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurant is nice and right in the front parking lot. There was a refrigerator in our room but it was useless because it was filled with snacks. It is very close to the sea lions. I would definitely stay again.

Such a wonderful location. Our room was closest to the water and we could hear the ocean waves from our bed. The bed was amazing, felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. So peaceful and romantic. My only recommendation to management is that the room got pretty warm and no air conditioning. It was significantly cooler outside. Would definitely come back.

I like the areas for bonfire. I like that the outdoor lights were on all night. We enjoyed the ocean views. We love the courtesy coffee at the lobby. I wish they add hot water or tea. The staff were kind. The pool was cool and needs a deep cleaning. I wish breakfast is included.

We stayed here for our mini moon! Staff Roxy was very nice and helpful! Our room was perfect, a private balcony, a cozy fireplace and with a great ocean front view. We went in the beginning of June so the grass was yellow but would love to visit after the rainy season when the grass is green. Would only recommend staying here if you book the ocean front rooms since we like our privacy! Can’t wait to come back for a nice quiet getaway

The staff were very friendly. The room was clean, but it was very stuffy. There is no central air, but we found a fan in the room hiding in the corner and that made a huge difference. The showerhead had either really hard water stains, the chrome was wearing off, or it was mold. Couldn’t figure out which. That was the only gross thing with the room. The refrigerator they had in the room was stock full of drinks and snacks so if you brought anything you wanted to keep cool, you had no room.
They had two chimney type fire pits, and oversized lawn games set up which the kids liked. The location was really close to Hearst Castle, which was great. The restaurant on site had an excellent breakfast and the staff there were also very welcoming.

The two rooms stay. First room Ocean View, the room has a fire place that whoever was there before used , the room had a bad smoke smell, cigarette don’t know. My wife told me that it was hard for here to breathe. So we ask to be moved to another room . No room to move to so around 10 at Night.wife was a hard time breathing had to drive to Paso Robles to get medication. The next day they move us to a room . Not what I pay for but the wife was better. So the room they gave us 109. Outside the door. Was steps to go upstairs it has a raise platform from the pave ground what do I do trip over the platform put my hand out to safety not hit my face. Outcome. Sprained wrist and leg hurt. The

The waterfront location was absolutely stunning, with beautiful views throughout our stay. One thing to be aware of is that it can get quite windy. We were a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a swimming beach on the property, as our kids were looking forward to that, but the two heated pools were very nice and helped make up for it. Our favorite feature was the fire pits—they were the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset each evening. Overall, a beautiful property with amazing scenery. Motel style rooms.

The hotel is in a very nice beachfront location. No airconditioning which I was informed is common in the area. No heating but they have a fireplace. However, there was a certain bad smell as soon as we entered the room. It is not cleaned well, especially the restroom where we saw hair around the corners and nooks.

What a wonderful hotel! It is right on the beach. There are cozy fires lit on the beach nightly. The rooms are clean and large enough for beach gear. The staff at the hotel is so helpful! We appreciated the 2 heated pools and a hot tub. We will stay there again!

Roxy at the front desk was very friendly, welcoming, & professional- loved her kind spirit and reassuring us how we are in a safe area. Yummy homemade chocolate chip cookies given at ck-in. The room she got us was perfect as I am handicap with walking disability. Clear ocean view, parked next to room on 1st floor. Roxy was right the cold wind died out by close to sunset which was perfect for the fire pits to roast marshmallows. And Perfect on beach location, with many activities. Our room was clean and spacious. Price was very reasonable for location. We are definitely returning. Loved listening to the ocean waves all night long.

Oceanfront room on lower floor in corner next to laundry was not as nice as the upper floor rooms and should be priced accordingly. Furniture continues to be old and in need of replacement as do drapes. Pillows weren’t as comfortable nor as many as we recall from times past. Room service dinner was excellent! Hearst beef cheeseburger and fries and fish and chips were delicious! Despite the disappointment in our room, we love this hotel and will continue coming.

If Roxy is at the desk when you check in, you’re in luck. You’ll get the full run down of all amenities and things to see and eat nearby. If someone else checks you in, you’re on your own. Make sure you ask for any perks you are supposed to have, the dude will ignore/“forgot” all of it.

Get the ocean view rooms, the standard rooms are super musty and the carpet is old and stained and in need of replacement. Beds are clean and sheets and towels seem newer.

Half the jets in the hot tub are broken but on the plus side, they let us use it until 9:30pm instead of closing time of 9pm (which is pretty early really). Gym gets cleaned rarely and towels are not restocked. One treadmill was “broken” for two days. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked.

Lobby coffee is the worse coffee I’ve had in my life. Indescribably bad.

Overall, perfectly fine place to stay to be near Hearst Castle and on the water. Not much stretch of beach until you hit cliffs on either side which makes it really quiet and peaceful.

Hope they replace the carpet in the rooms and fix some amenities.

I did mentioned this concern to the front desk at checkout and they apologized and said they would address this to housekeeping. Great location and the nicest hotel at San Simeon Beach we have stayed at. Amazing ocean front view , but if the smell of fire pit bothers you , you might want to keep your sliding door shut. Love the on site restaurant! Just an important note to keep in mind. My travel partner got a room next to the lobby which was right next to housekeeping toom so he heard workers at all hours and was hard to sleep. I think it was 102

The only good thing about this hotel is the view. The service was fine checking in. Although the view was great upon entering our room in the kings row building, that was about it for positives. The room reeked like musty smoke. The doors were filthy. We wiped them and the bathroom knobs and handles and our wipes were black when we finished cleaning. A wash cloth was dirty when I went to use it. There were strange, plastic like netted covers on the chairs, I suspect to cover gross chairs. Made us not want to sit on them! We went onto the balcony and it had stains from pets all over the place. Then when it gets dark, the staff light the fire pits outside. The smoke billowed into our room which caused my husband severe allergic reaction, with red and swollen eyes.
We will never stay here again. 3 nights for 950 bucks, is a waste of money. Additionally, guest smoking weed next door was annoying as well.

We were super delighted with our stay here. We got an ocean view and it was just fascinating. We were on the bottom floor and walked out to a patio with tables and chairs just for us facing the ocean and then there was a wonderful grassy area past that and then a walkway down to the sand and then the water. Everything was clean and neat and utterly and manicured in our room. We had a fireplace and too comfy chairs that could be turned either towards the ocean or the fireplace. And there were also fire pits outside, so we stayed out there into the evening and they brought firewood for us! There wasn’t one thing we could complain about. The refrigerator was stocked with things you could purchase from wine to candy bars. We will definitely be back.
