The only thing I would change is the toilet. The seat is about 12 inches off the floor. Way too low to go.

I would never return. What was advertised was not what we got, there was no body soap in the shower no towel for the pool, the pool had green algae in it, the grass looked like it hadn’t been mowed in months. The chairs in the room covers over them and smelled bad the slider to the patio was very difficult to open, we called the manager and never had a return call, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy I’m sorry I ever booked my reservation here.

The room was great as always, the view was great! But we had people below us who had 5 dogs, little kids and were loud talkers. The dogs barked, whimpered and whined the kids were loud and some of the people were outside below us talking so loud we could here them with the sliding door closed. This was going on at 0600AM on Sunday morning. Other than that we LOVED being there and we WILL be back!!

This place has become an annual tradition for us. Though the resort itself is somewhat dated, It’s exceptionally clean and offers wonderful amenities. Nothing beats opening your slider door to the beautiful ocean not to mention the fire place and free upon request wood is absolutely amazing. The price and location cannot be beat.

Fire pits checkers chess games outdoor. This is a truly amazing hidden gem of a resort. In the room are treats for sale with pieces that are similar to store $6 for a beer that’s happy hour prices and you get this in the room awesome
Super dog friendly and no additional charge WOW w e really love this place will return soon with dog and stay 5 days. Lots to see and do in the area. The room was great and the fire place with free wood how nice. One of our absolutely favorite places to stay now

This is our second time at Cavalier Resort. Our entire family went for my husbands 60th birthday. We had deluxe ocean view rooms and had a wonderful time again! We will definitely be back to our new favorite get away! Our adult kids loved it and they said they will be back also! Conveinent to Hearst Castle and Moonstone Beach and Cambria! We loved our stay at the Cavalier. Upon arrival we received an upgrade to a room with an ocean view, fireplace and balcony. The views are fantastic! Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and close to Hearst Castle, hiking trails and nearby Cambria. Just a suggestion, bring your Amazon Fire stick with you if you want to watch tv. The basic tv in the room is analog.

Our interactions with hotel and restaurant staff were very pleasant; everyone was very accommodating. Check-in and check-out were easy and quick. The room was clean and comfortable. The ocean view was fantastic.
We have only two minor criticisms:
1) There was no microwave and the refrigerator was VERY small and almost completely filled with hotel snacks and drinks.
2) The tv channel selection was very limited. Granted, we don't go to the coast to watch tv, but we want more than news and sports.

**Check-in was smooth and the staff was friendly. The location is lovely and really the highlight of the property. That said, the rooms feel very dated and could use an update.

I was disappointed with the “upgrade” I was offered. I originally booked a Deluxe room with a King and a fireplace and was upgraded to a Premium Bluff King, also with a fireplace. Unfortunately, the room was on the first floor, very dark, and had a noticeable smoky smell. There was no ocean view from the room itself—only if you stepped outside. While the fireplace was larger, we were only there one night, and the view mattered far more to us.

Interestingly, my daughter kept her original Deluxe King room and had a beautiful Pacific Ocean view with a smaller fireplace, which neither of us really cared about.

Overall, it’s an okay hotel for a short stay because of the location, but I’d recommend being cautious about accepting an “upgrade” and confirming the view before doing so.**

The setting of the Cavalier Resort is beautiful, so the location did not disappoint. I really wanted to like the resort itself, but there were a few things that could be improved upon. First, they were fully booked but clearly not staffed to handle it, so several guests, ourselves included, were not able to check in until after the 4 pm check-in. They seemed very overwhelmed. One of the things they advertised was the s'mores kits for the property's fire pits. When I asked for one for my son, I was told they had sticks, but if I wanted to make s'mores, I would have to go to the store to buy the rest.
The resort itself could use some updates; the rooms were somewhat dated, although comfortable. We stayed in a room that had a connecting room. The walls were very thin, and the guests next to us were loud, and it sounded like they were in our room.
Lastly, as a family-friendly resort that offers room service, it would be nice if they were a bit more flexible. On our last night, my son was tired, so we wanted to order food to the room. They had pasta, but my son is picky, so I asked them to make penne with butter. They seemed a bit confused, so I clarified over the phone that they could do just penne with butter, and they assured me they could. When they brought it, it was basically their fettuccine Alfredo dish with chicken, but without the Alfredo sauce, and it was $26. Not what I was expecting. If they couldn't do it, I wish they had told me.

Kind of expensive for what you're getting with the dated decor and small rooms, but as they say location, location, location. Bed was comfortable a little more toward firm than soft so your results may vary. A good mix of firm and soft pillows with only one really lumpy one. Housekeeping every three days, but friendly and responsive staff if you ever needed anything sooner.

Small jacuzzi was a bit far from our room but nice and hot. Definitely not a great property if you are in a wheelchair. Narrow doorways and tall treads and paths that end randomly in grassy areas. Two pools on site and moderately heated but not warm for winter swimming.

On site restaurant and one not far away both were mediocre but the food was tasty enough. Spectacular views and nice fire pits if you got one early and smore kits for sale in the lobby.

Really great staff all around.

Wife and I came to Cambria/San Simeon for a 3 night getaway with our Pug. We chose this hotel for 2 reasons, pet friendly (at no additional charge!) and the location.

We chose an Ocean Front Delux room, and location and view were amazing. First day we had the most incredible sunset you could imagine. The perfect way to start off the long weekend.

Location and property were amazing for this price range. No complaints all there. And the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Now the downsides to be aware of. The rooms are aging a bit. Not a big deal if you don't plan on spending much time in the room.
There are 2 mini fridges, one with items for purchase, and another empty one for your items, The empty one wasn't working. WMaintenance came, very nice, he mentioned that the mini fridges aren't very good and don't function properly. Hmm.

One of the lounge chairs in the room had no stuffing in the back of it at all. They were covered with nice \"covers\", and looked fine, but when you sat in it you felt like you were falling through the back of the chair. Front desk, said the owners have been promising to upgrade furniture forever, but have yet to do it. Hmm...

Lastly, we orderd food in one night, lit the fireplace, and were looking forward to streaming a movie or our favorite TV show. TV was absolute garbage and useless. Every channel was snowy, and no way to hook up my laptop to stream. Had to watch on Laptop. Disappointing. :(
