We were super-comfortable in our small suite with everything we needed for a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night stay.
There were wonderful views out on to the Fox range mountains, and only a 5min walk from the excellent and very atmosphetic Cook and Saddle cafe.
Lake Matheson with its memorable rainforest walk, the mirrored reflections of Mtns Tasman and Cook, and the welcoming cafe offering excellent fare to eat and drink - as well as a local artist's gallery - was a real bonus.

We had a comfortable 3 night stay in a very clean Studio unit, equipped with a kitchenette that had a fridge, microwave, small oven and a two ring electric hob, toaster, kettle and electric frying pan - ideal for producing simple meals.
Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided, plus a small bottle of milk on arrival.
The ensuite shower provided plenty of hot water at impressive pressure.
We had a couple of chairs and a small table.

It was quiet and we slept well.
Our host, Andy, was very friendly and gave us useful pointers on the walks/sights in both Fox and Franz Joseph - this helped us get the most out of our time there. His dog Stella was also very friendly.
Having SKY TV allowed us to watch the Super Rugby - bonus!

Sweet motel. Great size in a beautiful area. Loved having a Nespresso machine with coffee! Only negatives were that the refrigerator had not been cleaned at the bottom and there was sticky goo. Also, housekeeping played music very loud in the mornings after others checked out but we were staying another night. But the surroundings are beautiful and the cottages were adorable.

Friendly and helpful staff. Gave us a map of nearby attractions & shops, and recommended us the best time to visit Lake Matheson so we could get a nice reflection view of the mountains. Room was clean and spacious. Basic amenities available. There is a laundry room avaible too, costing NZD 2 each to use the washing machine and dryer. Satisfied with our stay here.

The service provided was outstanding, including the manager/owner taking time out from his busy day to advise me of the best options to eat, walk the dog, and local sites to see. I found the Motel to be a wonderful site for reflection and the setting is very powerful in nature. I would recommend to anyone as a great place to refresh the mind. This is a very convenient location, literally 2 mins from the little township and about a minute from the nearest restaurant. In addition, the views from just outside the room/cabin is spectacular, with the snow capped mountains on display.
The rooms are neat, warm (it was the height of winter) and have all the conveniences required.
The guy running the place was friendly, informative and down to earth - even has a dog to play with.

We had a very enjoyable stay that was excellent value for money. The room was in good condition, very clean and tidy. Water pressure in the shower is extremely good. The owners dog is very friendly and enjoys getting lots of pats.
