Easy parking right outside apartment. In a good location in Fox Glacier, within walking distance to cafes and restaurants. View of snow capped mountains from the front of unit and selection of eateries within walking distance. Quieter than Franz Josef but good for that reason!

The room was okay. Clean. Comveniently located. Not particularly nice. Out the front window you see your car (although we were carrying bikes and were able to back them under the car port). Out the back window you see the back if another motel. Black mold around the bathroom windows. The bed was bouncy. Olay place to spend a night in transit but there are nicer choices in Fox Glacier area.

Basic motel. A bit outdated and simple

The motel was a bit outdated. The room had minimal equipment. A simple bathroom. We stayed in many motels and hotels on our long trip to New Zealand and this was the least beautiful in my opinion. There was no one at the front desk and when I called, he could barely hear me and I could barely hear him. I liked the motel less.

A great place to stay. What they do they do well. Very comfortable. We stayed 3 nights. We cooked dinner each now night. Although there wasn’t anyone around we could call someone in charge if needed. Room was clean and tidy. Heater worked a treat and was on when we arrived at check in which is a nice welcoming touch as still cold outside.

loved the location & the layout of the room. However, it was self-serve check in with our key left taped to the door. I didn't mind that so much. Except that there was a sign that said to ring the bell if you had any questions, and here was a phone number to ring if you had any questions. No one answered when I rang the bell, no one answered or returned my phone call when I left a message. All I wanted was a towel, but couldn't get one for 2 nights. we left, and still never heard. The bed had an electric mattress heater on it under the sheets. we didn't need it, and it made sleeping uncomfortable as there were hard ridges & a hard box under the hip area. I'd have to take apart all the bedding to remove it, then I'd have nowhere to put it. I think it's a great asset in the winter months when it gets colder, but for the fact that IT DIDN'T WORK. The one on the left side wasn't plugged in, and in fact there was nowhere to plug it in. the one on the right side of the bed was plugged in, lit up when turned on, didn't heat after 1/2 hour, so we gave up. And to top it all off, the walls are seriously so thin you can hear everything on both sides of your room. not because they were so loud, they weren't, but because the walls were so thin.

The motel is conveniently situated and was well provided. The staff were quick to respond when we needed help getting the TV to work. The wet shower room was a bit damp, but otherwise our stay was comfortable. BetsyJane's restaurant and bar next door was excellent. Lake Mathedon is a short drive away and well wirth a visit.

Beautiful little town but didn't 'have the best experience at this motel. It works and has what you need but I'd stay somewhere else next time. For my 30 day day trip to New Zealand this was the only hotel I wouldn't stay at again. Hotel is definitely not on the lake but a short 5-10 minute drive away and a short 5 minute walk to the main street on the highway. Neither of which are a big deal. Everything is close in Fox Glacier as it is a very small town.

The two bedroom apartment was as depicted in the photos. It was reasonably basic and the walls were quite thin. The bathroom tap and fan noise could be heard everywhere in the apartment. Parking was directly out the front which was very good. Reception staff were lovely and the area is flat and walkable to various eating places. It’s close to the lovely lake Matheson walk, and a fantastic view of Fox Glacier from Peak view is a short drive down the road. Beds were okay but the pillows were very flat and not comfortable.

A great place to stay while we explored around Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers - we wished we could have stayed longer. Probably the most comfortable beds during our whole trip.

The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and well set up. We were surprisingly warm and snug, despite the cool weather. A gorgeous location, and an easy stroll to fabulous dining. We would definitely stay here again.

To be balanced, the property itself was good. The same cannot be said however for the service. We booked our room mid January for a stay at the end of February. After a 7 hour journey we arrived within the check-in window only to find it closed. We called the owner who said we didn't have a booking (we had an Expedia confirmation and a property confirmation). She was more interested in telling us about her health problems and kept denying that we had a booking. All other places at Fox Glacier had no vacancies so we were very concerned and upset. After some time on the phone she 'found' us a room. Someone had already checked in to this room and had used the bathroom. On top of this it didn't have the same facilities as the room we had booked. Fox is a rather remote location so we had no option but to accept. She promised to call us and didn't. I sent all the booking information to her via Expedia but she never replied. I've spent a month trying to pursue a refund via Expedia but it's been a complete waste of time. A measure of any experience is how people respond when things don't go to plan. This owner denied we had a booking when we did, didn't keep check-in open according to the advertised time, didn't go out of her way to sort the problem out and has flatly refused to offer any compensation since. So, check and double check that you do have a reservation at this Motel if you want to avoid the terrible service we experienced

Overall it was a decent stay, but I was disappointed I did not get the room I booked. I made note of it shortly after check in, but it was not acknowledged. Not the end of the world, but it’s just annoying there was no attention to it.

We received a friendly welcome.
The unit was very clean and had a wonderfully powerful heater which was great.
The undercover parking outside the unit door was brilliant.
We personally found the beds too soft which meant we didn't sleep as well as we'd have liked, although I appreciate some people like softer beds.
It is a very quiet rural area and the Lake Matheson / Fox Glacier walkways are literally down the road a few kilometers.
