Novelty stay in train compartment, a bit small but expected and a little uncomfortable but a single night was good enough, with other options available and a fair price you can't argue to much,
Camping and caravan theme throughout, parking on site and free breakfast all included with the price.

This is hostel/ backpackers place so private toilets and showers may not be available depending on your stay type,

Location is not the best some walking needed for shops and restaurants but not too far away from tram service.

Overall good place to have a short novel stay at a fair price

Basecamp is a unique facility and certainly worth a visit. Unfortunately, the campers that are for rent seem to need a general overhaul. Right now at least the one we used was neither really clean nor in a good shape otherwise. E. g. door of fridges were closed with duck tape, light switches, too. Wardrobes were quite dusty inside, overall a bit shabby. For 130 Euro a night (including breakfast, 3 persons in one camper) I would have expected more. I also felt that because of this, the full potential of the place is not used. Shared toilets were not really cleaned often enough during the day and there was a strong urine smell in the men's toilet. Breakfast was excellt and despite the mentioned negative experiences I would come back. Just for the fun of it.

I liked the concept of staying in a trailer or train car, although my friend and I found it to bit cramped and not so practical at times. It took us a while to find the ladder which could be used to climb into the top bunk, and then even longer to find where to stand it in order to climb into it. We both slept well and enjoyed the buffet breakfast, and had a pleasant stay overall.

Great concept, really cool design. Great for all ages, from families to solo travellers.
Staff was friendly, place was spot on clean at all times, and breakfast had a lot of options.
For mentor only negative was the sleeping compartment (train) only had a tiny window, so it got hot and claustrophobic fast.
Overall great once in a lifetime experience that o would recommend others.

Amazingly unique experience

Such a unique place to stay. Really incredible level of thought and detail in the decor. Communal toilets and showers really clean. We were a little warm in our train carriage accommodation (in October), we noticed others slept with the door ajar all night to get some air. Breakfast was good.

Quirky and amusing idea for a hotel, the simple fact of exploring it and its décors is intriguing and entertaining enough. My room may have been spatially tight but more or less I knew what I was getting into as I was booking a train compartment. Very good breakfast. Good location to explore the former (and partly current) capital area of Bonn and the very interesting Haus der Geschichte.

Even for business travel!

I stayed three nights for business and enjoyed my time there. Fun experience. Quiet at night. Near public transportation. Beds quite firm. It's not luxury but so much better than your typical hostel experience.

Cool movie set-style indoor camping experience

Had a small compartment in the big train carriage - but after I alerted the staff to a weird 'toilet' smell in that section of the warehouse, they put me straight into a really cool hippie VW van instead, which was a great surprise.
It's well worth the money, and super clean. The most laid back and relaxed hostel I've stayed in - also near the Maritim Hotel for the popular Ring Con and Hobbitcon/ Magic Con.

Very interesting hostel!

I've never seen such a interesting hostel, with many buses and trains turned into fashionable rooms, especially at night, the atmosphere was amazing with color lights and nice music. The staff was friendly and of course, perfect English. Only 10 min by train to the center of Bonn, and on the way to the station, you can have nice meals in those restaurants around there. The space between two bunk beds was a little low so it was a little bit hard for my big companion, but for me it was perfect.
If I stayed there during the time they had events, it would be even greater!

Fun camping style hostel but not cheap.

This is a fun place to stay if you like camping. We slept in a train sleeper car so we knew the bunks would be small, but the space was much tighter than expected. Also we didn't realize beforehand that it was a large train car with many cabins, so there was a lot of noise from others coming in and out and the cabin doors do not insulate the sound at all. The common areas for lounging, breakfast and bathrooms were in excellent condition and clean. Helpful staff, good basic cold breakfast (cereal, bread, lunch meat, cheese, yogurt). Overall it was fun for one night, but it was too expensive for what you get.

My friends and I had flight problems and missed our stay at Base Camp Bonn. The staff was wonderful and understanding when we cancelled. Their actions were very professional and timely. We will sometime in the future stay at the Camp and am looking forward to the experience. I filled numbers in just to complete the review.

Stay for the experience not the comfort

Look at the pictures, read other reviews and, if it floats your boat, book. If you want glorious deep comfy beds, silence and plenty of personal space then you probably decided against starting here already.
We booked, loved it and had a great time, used the microwave and \"kitchen area\" to self cater and save money. Breakfast was fine. Everyone was relaxed and friendly. Facilities were spotlessly clean.

Bin ja häufiger unterwegs und jetzt seit mehreren Jahren wieder mal in Bonn.
Schon damals war ich im Base Camp und auch dieses Mal war es klar, wieder dort zu übernachten.
Kenne kein Hotel, das so originell und mit so viel Liebe und Ideen eingerichtet ist. Vom Komfort zwar eher auf jugendherbergsniveau aber dafür einzigartig und auch die anderen Gäste haben alle ihren Spaß an der Unterkunft.
Sind zwar vorwiegend junge Familien oder auch Schulklassen hier zu Gast, aber auch Menschen wie ich über 60.
Organisation und Sauberkeit sind super, Frühstück gut und auch ab 22.00 Uhr Ruhe im Laden.
Denke beim nächsten Bonnbesuch wieder hier.
Außerdem fährt die S-Bahn auch in sehr kurzen Abständen.

Die Duschen sind äußerst einfach, nur einfache feste installierte \"Regendusche\" von oben, keine Möglichkeit z.B. die Haare direkt auszuwaschen, keine Seifenspender.
Der Wohnwaren (Basis) ist für eine Person o.k. Mit knapp 1qm Platz vor dem Bett jetzt ich besondres üppig.

Besonderes Hostel in verkehrsgünstiger Lage

Es ist ein besonderes Hostel, wo in einem alten Schlafwagen, unterschiedlichen Wohnwägen oder einer Skigondel ( mit richtigem Doppelbett übernachtet wird.

Das ganze steht in einer alten Halle.

Auf der Empore wird morgen ein Vegetarisches Frühstück in Buffetform angeboten.

Ich hatte erneut ein Schlafwagenabteil für mich alleine. Das ist Recht praktisch,da man auf dem oberen Bett seine Sachen ablegen kann.

Ich würde auch wenn man zu zweit im Schlafwagen übernachtet, immer zur Variante 2 Zimmer = 2 Abteile raten, um diesen Vorteil einer Ablagemöglichkeit zu haben.

Mronen Recherchen nach, war der Preis dafür gleich.

Die Wände in so einem alten Citynightline sind Recht dünn, man hört Gespräche und in meinem Fall auch schnarchende Gäste über mehrere Abteile.

Ohrstöpsel vielleicht mitnehmen.

Das Frühstück ist ausreichend und falls nicht includiert für 12 Euro einschließlich Getränke.

Brot / Brötchen sollen Bio sein, sehen aber aus wie von Discounter. Zum satt werden reicht es allemal.

Es gibt dort einen Gästekühlschrank.

Direkt neben der Halle ist eine vielbefahrenen Bahnstrecken mit Personen und Güterverkehr.

Vorteil ist die verkehrsgünstige Lage mit der Stadtbahnhaltestelle Ollenhauerstrasse als nächstes Verkehrsmittel oder aber der DB Halt UN / Vereinte Nationen ( ca doppelt so weit ), nur 1 Station vom Hbf entfernt ist.

Somit ist das Hostel Tag und Nacht recht gut und schnell zu erreichen.

Einen Supermarkt habe ich in der Ecke nicht entdeckt.

Eigentlich eine tolle Idee mit den Wohnwagen.
Aber leider lässt man die Wohnwagen vor sich hin gammeln. Alleine die Tatsache das man einfach irgendwelche Duftbäumchen in die Wohnwagen hängt reicht bei weitem nicht aus. Ein bisschen mehr pflege würde das ganze sicherlich aufwerten. Das Frühstück ist soweit okay für ein zwei Tage ausreichend für länger zu eintönig. Die Sanitäranlagen sind OK.Es gibt auch etwas positives nämlich das Personal die machen ihren Job super. Und man lernt nette Menschen kennen. Die Umgebung ist auch schön und zu Fuß erreichbar es gibt auch viele gute Gastronomie die man alle zu Fuß erreichen kann. LG. Sabine und Christian aus Hessen.

Lieu insolite extrêmement bien pensé dans tous les détails. De la récupération de plusieurs époques et les différents thèmes sont un plaisir pour les yeux et le bien être. Calme lors de notre séjour. Petit dej suffisant. Chauffé. Juste la partie des douche pas confortable pour les femmes avec le béton au sol et les caisses pas stables pour poser les affaires.

Einzelne der kleinen Schränke im Traveller waren nicht sauber, da wollten wir nichts rein tun. Ein kleiner Mülleimer im Wagen wäre vorteilhaft. Eine Streichwurst (Leberwurst o.ä.) beim Frühstück hat gefehlt.
Sonst alles super! Wir würden es definitiv empfehlen und wiederkommen!

FlixBus 타려고 근처에 호스텔구하다가 우연히 발견했는데 너무 신기했어요! 정말 캠핑장온거같은 그런느낌? 그리고 조식에는 빵이랑 나름 기본적인거있는데 맛있었고 하루만있었지만 나중에 또오고싶어요

Mal was Anderes!

Wir waren neugierig und es war einmal eine interessante und lustige Abwechslung zu einem normalen Hotelaufenthalt. Auf dem 'Campingplatz' war glücklicherweise nicht so viel los, da es in der Halle doch relativ schnell laut werden kann. Unser Wohnwagen war allerding schon recht alt und etwas abgewohnt. Das Frühstück war für ein Hostel recht gut und ausreichend. Die sanitären Anlagen waren sehr sauber und in der Halle herrschte eine angenehme Temperatur. Der Empfang an der Rezeption war freundlich und herzlich. Alles in allem hatten wir einen schönen Aufenthalt.

Séjour insolite à Bonn

Endroit vraiment sympa pour sejourner dans un endroit insolite. Nous avons testé la nuit dans le train couchette, les matelas n’étaient pas trop confortables et il y a peu d’espace pour les rangements mais nous savions à quoi nous attendre et cela ne nous a pas dérangé. L’hôtel est un gigantesque ancien entrepôt et j’avais peur qu’il fasse froid en. Hiver mais la pièce commune est bien chauffée par contre pour les toilettes et douches il faisait vraiment très froid. Le petit déjeuner était basique mais bon rapport qualité prix je recommande

Coole Idee so ein Indoor-Campingplatz! Im Base Camp war alles super!
Sehr schade war allerdings, dass über Expedia scheinbar nur Kategorien gebucht werden können und nicht spezielle Fahrzeuge. Leider war das bei der Buchung für mich an keiner Stelle offensichtlich. Daher konnten wir dann doch nicht im eigentlich gewünschten Bulli übernachten. Das war etwas enttäuschend!

Hammer! Mal eine tolle neue Idee! Hostel & Camping \"re-invented\"!!! Grandios! Hat mir sehr gefallen, ich werde wohl wieder kommen - aber etwas Luft nach oben ist halt schon noch! Klar, die Camping-Wagen sind gebraucht, aber dennoch kann man sie in Ordnung halten! Die Sauberkeit vom Bett hat gestimmt - aber der Rest war...naja.... Duschen Toiletten in Ordnung, war positiv überrascht! Aber wer keine Lust auf Gemeinschaftsdusche hat, hat hier nix verloren! darüber VORHER Gedanken machen!!!

Sehr hübsche Anlage, sehr nettes Abiente. Habe in einem Schlafwagenabteil geschlafen, etwas beengend so ein Abteil, aber für mich alleine vollkommen okay.

Sehr schönes und gemütliches Hostel

Sehr schönes Hostel mit freundlicher Atmosphäre. Ich hab ich Zugwagen Abteil geschlafen und muss sagen da hat man wirklich nicht viel Platz, aber für ein zwei nächte voll in Ordnung. Wer nur ein Platz zum schlafen braucht ist hier bestens aufgehoben.

Less than mediocre. All facilities are old, washed-up and dirty. Showers are aweful & there's no room for you to put your clothes unless you wanna take them in the shower with you. Staff wasn't very friendly. My towel was dirty. The bunk beds in the tour bus are the worst thing I've ever slept on. Ultra hard & uncomfortable mattresses, extremely small (I'm 1,65m & barely made it inside), the sheets are WAY too warm for summer (I was not the only one complaining. I overheard several peoople during breakfast mentioning the same things), despite tiny windows (mine was broken so that anybody could have reached through there during the night & steal my phone) there's hardly any air circulation in the room (was in there with just 2 other people. I don't even want to imagine how it is with up to 8) and the wall which you are pressed against was dirty and had holes ripped in it. Breakfast was ok. I do not underatand the good ratings. For 26€/night I have been to much nicer places AND hostels. If you don't mind an over-priced shabby place with dirty corners & waking up with a free headache and numb legs, this is the place for you.

Fiquei hospedada com a minha filha de 14 anos. Foi uma experiência incrível. Os trailers são lindos, o espaço é limpo e super decorado. A gente não se cansou de tirar foto de cada detalhe. É claro que quem espera conforto não deve ficar num hostel. Mas a cama é muito mais confortável que a de muito hotel de rede internacional que já fiquei.
