Quite, nice large room with kitchen. Furniture and carpet show tear and wear. Bed was great.

Our group had stayed at this hotel one week prior, and my review was less than glowing. This time, however, we had a larger room, the pillows were excellent. Any stay can have special needs, and I want to extend special kudos to Mariia. She’s an immigrant from Ukraine. She’s a fantastic problem solver and manages employees well, with persistence, kindness and never raising her voice. I would recommend this hotel strongly, as a high value proposition.

I made an error with my reservation and the front office staff were more than accommodating!
The pillows could be updated.
On our day of checkout there was a fire alarm drill. No management was present to direct guests. It was left to housekeeping staff to manage guests, and they were not prepared for this.
I loved the breakfast!

The parking was sufficient. The staff was extremely accommodating. We had a great time during our stay! It’s conveniently near the train station for easy access to Munich. There was an elevator and stairs. The bathroom was huge! The only thing I disliked were the pillows. They were down pillows but they were very flat. Other than that, bring your own pillow and enjoy your stay! The price is right!

The hospitality at this hotel was non-existent, the front desk did not even try to help answer my questions, the amenities were poor, the room was loud and not conducive to a good night sleep.

We were there for 4 nights and not once was the room freshened up or new towels provided.

The check-in process was much more cumbersome than it should have been, the breakfast service was mundane, and you were never made to feel at home.

Avoid this property at all costs.

The rooms were clean and spacious. Our room was in a separate wing which seemed a bit odd. The staff were helpful. We weren’t far from Munich by train though we had a car, it was easy to catch a train. There are a few restaurants nearby and a supermarket across the road.

Although they have a bar and restaurant, they only offered breakfast. I found this very strange, especially in June, which is normally holiday time. There is a restaurant next door, but it is not the same as being able to walk downstairs and relax, without having to think about the weather.

The hotel was very nice and wven had some very nice items for sale. We arrived a bit late and ended up going to an Italian restaurant within walking distance, which I highly recommend. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.

This is not a chain hotel but a lovely traditional hotel in town that is not far from Munich. The staff was very helpful, town is small \"real German town\" not a big city but only 1/2 an hour away but the train was only 2 blocks from the hotel. And it ran every 20 minutes. We found 4 good restaurants that were all within walking distance, few stores, with very friendly people. I highly recommend this hotel for a true German Experience and an EZ trip to Munich without the hassle of driving

It was a nice place and a great price for the off season at the time I went the end of November. The only complaint I have is that the room was too hot and no way to adjust the temperature that I could see, and when I opened the window, the cars were too loud. All in all I highly recommend though :)

I stayed two nights in this lovely Bavarian style hotel and was very impressed by the spacious room, the staff and the location.
It’s a 3 minute walk to the S-Bahn (suburban train) station, with trains every 20 minutes direct to Munich central station (or only 17 minutes to Giesing where you can change onto the underground).
My room came with a Nespresso machine, complimentary water, lots of wardrobe space and also a large bathroom.
I didn’t have breakfast but there was a hearty buffet and also a lovely bar area too.

Definitely will stay here again!

Hotel Saurlach Post - unfriendly to non german spk

The customer service was horrible. Definitely noticed the difference between treatment to English speakers verses German speakers by front desk lady. There was only one young man that helped us check in in the night that was friendly. When we initially called to say we were checking in late… the woman that answered the phone .. same as at the front desk at check out, told us we did not have a reservation. When we showed up anyway we did. We had requested the room with breakfast on line therefore went to the buffet . In front of everyone the attendant interupted our breakfast and insisted our rooms did not get breakfast. They charged us 20 eur. Each . They wanted us to stop eating an pay. Although on their own website same tbreakfast is included . At the end we needed to book a second night because if travel plan changes.

At the counter they tried to charge us way more than on line with and would not include breakfast. We were told to go to a Germsn only website and book the extra night . Tried to get help from the lady at the front desk .. same one once again... Was told she will not help after she told us to go to the website. After she took up almost an hour of our time .and we paid the rooms off before check out time . She delayed our going upstairs to get our belongings.. she then ..charged us 10 EU more for not being downstairs again by 11pm. We are Airline crews and have stayed many places all over the world. Have never had to give a review like like this.

Good Hotel but avoid the Restaurant

The lad in reception was great and really helpful. It's a pity the restaurant weren't so customer focused. 5 of us tried to eat in the restaurant but the staff member was avoidant and disinterested. We were given menus but decided we'd get a better service elsewhere.
The rooms were fairly basic and inconsistent. We had 5 rooms in total. One had a sofa, 2 had baths, some had desks. All were clean with comfortable beds but could have been improved with tea and coffee facilities. Water was welcome though. I would stay here again.

No coffee maker or kettle in the rooms, no mini fridge or in room safe, really cheap body wash/hand soap, paper thin towels, and pillows are down filled but so flat as to be useless in supporting your head and neck. Asked the waiter in their restaurant at supper for free tap water and he ended up still charging us 3.30 euros. Would not recommend

A lovely hotel in a small village with lots going on away from the hustle and bustle of Munich.

The rooms were very large with a good sized bathroom.

Very friendly staff at the front desk and restaurant; highly recommend eating there as the food is delicious and plentiful.

Well served by the train service and easily reached from the station.

We loved the cleanness of the property and neighborhood, but we couldn't access Wi-Fi WITHIN our room, which was very inconvenient. We asked a front desk staff to solve the problem, but none could help us. Also, we didn't get any housekeeping service even though we requested it by hanging it over the doorknob. Those two problems were so huge for us to come to terms with the fact that we just got unlucky.

Not Close to Munich Airport

Before you go to Munich, EVERYONE look up where the airport is. The airport is not near the city itself at all nor is it near this hotel. Sauerloch is a 35 minute slow train ride away from Munich proper and it's not even a nice ride. I booked this hotel seeing other reviews said they allowed early check-in. This was not our experience. Everything in the hotel warns about last minute scheduling (i.e. - taxis probably will not take you to the airport, which is easily 2 hours away on weekends.) The breakfast is so so and everything is exacerbated by the annoyed woman at the front desk. Wi-fi stinks as well.

Nice hotel near Munich.

Was there for 2 nights for Oktoberfest. We had a apartment, which was quite roomy and included a small kitchen and fridge.

Across the street is a grocery store...and the train station is about a 5 minute walk.

Munich is approx 35 minutes away.

The town of Sauerlach was pretty quiet....but that’s not a bad thing. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

The staff were questionably friendly in the evening but the morning person was pleasant. Other than that, it was magnificent. It’s in a great location close to the train station to get in to Munich, the room was spacious and beautiful, it is across the street from a grocery store and gas station, and very clean and high tech.

Are You A Hiker with Munich Options

If you have a car and want to avoid Munich City traffic, then this is an option. The Hotel has plenty of rooms and a huge dining area.......It appears to be a great area to hike throughout the woods.......The train station is a walk away and goes right into the center of Munich.
Personally, I found Munich very difficult to drive around without a GPS, which I did not have. The streets constantly change names and the highway signs, sometimes, disappear. From a hotel in the center of Munich, it took me 45 minutes to get to the airport, but from my hotel 25 kilometers south of Munich, it only took me 35 minutes.

Rooms clean, beds hard (as usual for Germany), breakfast was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed here in an emergency, was a lifesaver, easy to book online. They really should have the wifi password posted in the rooms. You must currently get the password at reception, and if you check in after hours you are out of luck.

Strong smell of cigarettes in the room

Our stay was ok, apart from one issue, a BIG issue! We booked a non-smoking room, but the room we received had a strong smell of cigarettes. After contacting reception, we were told that they had no free non-smoking rooms. The smell was so strong that we had to sleep with the window open. As a result, we woke up early due to the sun light and the noise from outside. I don't understand why a hotel would have smoking rooms. People that want to smoke, can do that outside. Smokers can sleep in a non-smoking room, while non-smokers can't sleep in a smoking room. But even if you have smoking rooms, you should honor the reservation of non-smoking rooms, or make it clear that it's not something guests can choose. When we complained, the staff was very understandable and consulted with a manager. As compensation, we were offered a free breakfast if we stay at the hotel in the future. That's nice, but a free breakfast isn't worth a sleepless night in a room that smells of cigarettes. Thanks, but no thanks!

We stayed in Sauerlacher for 3 days. We visited the Neuschwinstein Castle one day and Mozart's birth house in Salzburg on another day. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was always courteous. The best thing about the hotel was the restaurant which is attached at the back. Our large family ordered several dishes and everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. The portions were generous in size as well. Our waiter who said he has been a server for 20 years was very friendly and professional.
The only small negative thing that could be improved is: we wish there was a mini-fridge in each room as it would have been nice if we could keep our water cold.

Apartments are not hotel in terms of quality

We were a bit surprised to get an apartment while expecting a hotel. The apartment is located on the other side of the hotel's block and not very easy accessible with bags. Apartments are dark and suitable for overnight only. I believe the hotel itself and the rooms are much higher quality than apartments.
Apartments, nevertheless, are very clean!

And the hotel itself, the stuff members and the breakfast are totally exceptional.

Also, in the morning the noise from trucks and traffic woke us from a very early hour. Had to get up and close the windows.

it was a big mistake, we were gonna go to Munchen for october fest, and it said on hotels.com that is was 15 from the city to the hotel, BY WALKING. so when we came to Munchen, we took a taxi, that took us 30 min plus 50 euros, and then the train to the city again took over 30 min, and last one went before 1 oclock. so we were fooled.
