A lovely hotel that feels like a German Country Inn. The staff were so accommodating and lovely. The dining area for breakfast was so charming. It's so close to the train station and the restaurant there serves the best local dishes. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here. We were there for Oktoberfest and this was just a short train ride away from all the festivities. Thank you for a great stay...

Great alternative to Munich

Peaceful traditional Gasthaus only 25 minutes by train to Munich. Very easy to get to the train. The setting is beautiful, right in the forest and a few miles to the river Isar. Ideal for a run or bike ride.
Friendly service with a personal touch and very tasty breakfast and dinner.
The owner rents out his classic cars. I took a 1963 Volvo for a ride around the Starnberger See. Fantastic experience.

In the woods but right on the S-bahn train route

Lovely hotel with great restaurant and beer garden on the outskirts of Munich, been coming here for over thirty years. Rooms are sweetly traditional Bavarian, breakfast is good. S-bahn train into Munich is 100 yards away, and you are right on beautiful trails for biking or walking.

Traveling not by car is very difficult. Traveling from the Buchenhain S-Bahn station with the suitcases is not a fun thing to get to the Gasthof. Room and bedding is good, size of bathroom is a joke. Breakfast excellent. Conciere service, very good.

Fantastic stay in a true Bavarian hotel with wonderful service. Breakfast was lovely, train station is a two minute walk and the beds were super comfy! Great restaurants and ice cream cafes five minutes away. Would definitely book this place again!

Great location! Far enough away from the city to give you the feeling of living in a small Bavarian village, but located right next to a train stop so you can be in downtown Munich in 30 minutes. The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly, and the food is excellent. There's a beer garden and kid's play area adjoining the hotel. Good place to stay if you're vacationing with the family. I'd certainly stay at this property again.

Stayed for one night on my way to Neuschwanstein. Friendly staff (even though I do not speak German), very clean and quiet. --I have spent the last 3wks in a noisy apartment, my body really appreciated the chance to sleep without interruptions. :)
Room (single) had a bed, a small desk and a bathroom.
There are some nice trails between the river (Isar) and the hotel. Even (unintentionally) found a geocache.
Bummed I did not try their restaurant... had too much beer and wasn't that hungry. Have read some great reviews about it.

Beautiful hotel!

Lovely hotel (especially in the snow!) The train station is right in front of the hotel, but be aware you need to go under a bridge to get to the train station and back. (It was difficult to figure out the path in the snow.) The staff was lovely, and the rooms were cozy. Loved the food at the restaurant as well. Definitely going back if I ever make a stop at Munich!

Nice traditional German hotel

Set in the woods but just a two minute walk from a train station which takes you directly to Marienplatz in 30 minutes. The breakfast is a typical German buffet with plenty of options. Unfortunately I never ate dinner there but it looks like you can receive a good quality, traditional southern German meal. Just be aware to check in before 11pm as the hotel is not staffed 24 hours a day. Overall, I was very happy with my stay and there is a good chance I will stay here again on a future trip to Munich.

This is a very friendly and comfortable hotel. We were without a car, but the train station directly across the street makes access to central Munich very easy. Trains run every 20 minutes and get to the central station in about 20 minutes. The included breakfast was quite good, but for dinner, we did not care for the hotel's restaurant (mainly because we weren't fond of the traditional Bavarian dishes). Great bike path runs right by the hotel, and they have loaner bicycles. Although the hotel is in suburban Munich, its setting makes you feel as though you are in a lovely forest. Highly recommend this place!

Quaint Bavarian Hotel w beer garden close to train

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely return. It was super close to train so easy to commute into Munich [20 min] but the setting was so much richer than a downtown hotel and less expensive. The hotel is located next to a small forrest where we went for a nice run - hard to find on an European vacation in major cities. The breakfast choices were expansive and one of the best we had on our trip (e.g. Fresh fruit, yougurts, cheese, croissants, ham, cereal, hot cocoa, 20 or so different teas, coffee, etc.). They had a lovely patio area with massive beer umbrellas and tables 🍺 . Their Wiener schnitzel was excellent and they had very yummy desserts. Lastly, the staff were all extremely nice and helpful. They even helped us book a car and had it delivered to the hotel.

Perferct stay. Great Staff. Conviently located about 100 meters from an S Bahn station, pefect for getting into Munich. Free parking, great breakfast. Guesthous in in a quiet location but convientiently situated to get into Munich. Minutes from Bavaria Film City and the Zoo. The restaurant is great and the Breakfast was a nice suprise. We'll be back.

We stayed here for 4 nights, we had booked 3!
Our room was comfortable but wish the shower was larger. The free breakfast is outstanding! The dining room menu is good with enough of a variety to make most everyone happy. The food is well prepared and delicious. The staff could not do enough for us, helped with directions, sold us the train ticket into Munich and gave us hints upon arrival in Munich. Took care of our postcards too! This is a charming out of way place to relax, unwind? and yet get into the city easily with the quiet train right in front of the hotel. They even do laundry!

Good local hotel and restaurant.

This was the perfect place for our three day visit of Munich. Free parking and a 30 minute train ride to downtown worked well for touring the city. The free breakfast was so nice that we ate dinners at Waldgasthof, too. The restaurant was filled with local folk which means ample sized portions of very good Bavarian specialties at reasonable prices. Not a fancy hotel, just a good place with meets the high German standards of cleanliness and comfort.

Great location and lovely old style hotel.

Most convenient for public transport to the city and access by car to the Bavarian countryside. Enjoyed the garden and surroundings. Access to the city using the train from the hotel grounds was a great bonus. Would strongly recommend this hotel for easy access to both the city and countryside. Breakfast was first class. Would have appreciated a fridge in the room or at least access to an ice machine.

We love this place!

We needed to change hotels after our first night in Munich and decided to go with Waldgasthof Buchenhain. We were thrilled when we checked in and saw the old world charm yet everything was very clean and proper. On top of that they had a beer garden and fabulous restaurant. I wasn't expecting much for German cuisine but I soon tasted some of the best. Then the breakfast was quite the spread, and we lingered to enjoy it. This being so good we came back the 2nd night for dinner again.

I could see from the plaques hanging on display that the owners were proud of their culinary and hotel guest training from the south of France. It really shows here. We still talk about this hotel months later and would definitely return.

We had one night stay and we've founded it very nice. Typical bayern house gives a nice feeling of warmness. Staff is kind and helpful. They even offered us a bigger room, as our dog was with us. Room was nice and bed is really comfortable.
The only negative point was WiFi. Speed was ok, but you can use only one device at time.
We had a very testy dinner. Breakfast is almost on the level of 5 stars.
Location near forest was ideal for us.

Travelled over from Glasgow for 1 night. Stayed here as the location was good for where I was going the next day.
This hotel is lovely, very warm greeting on arrival from this family run hotel. Traditional Bavarian look with beer garden, bar and a restaurant which serves delicious German food.
The hotel is a very short walk from the train station and with it only being 20 minutes or so from the centre of town makes this a great place to stay in relaxing surroundings rather than the bustle of the heart of town.

Great Place to Stay Near Munich Germany

We had a very pleasant stay at this Hotel/Gasthaus. It's located some distance from Munich but the train into the city stops right across the street. Taking the train was an easy way to avoid Munich's traffic and parking problems and the ride was pleasant and inexpensive. Also the property had a nice Bavarian look with a great beer garden, nice decor, free tasty breakfast and very pleasant and helpful staff.

As with many hotels, the Waldgasthoff in Buchenhain has it's pros and cons. I was in Munich on business, and for me the hotel was in an excellent location. The hotel is in a traditional baverian style, and looks a little worn and dated in parts. The wooden flooring in my room creaked no end, and the sound transmission through the walls was pretty poor. On several occasions I was woken by the activities of those in surrounding rooms, but at least the bed was comfortable enough and the room was kept very clean. The hotel also has a large beer garden to the front, and on days of good weather this can be very busy, but is a great place to soak up the sun and local culture (beer).

Clean and comfortable rooms are small by U.S. standards but are typical of small hotels in the area. Owners are often present and working to serve clients. The buffet breakfast is very good and the restaurant meals are of excellent quality. The meals are typical of the area, tasty and you don't go away hungry. The S-Bahn, rapid transit system, is located not far from the front of the hotel, it runs frequently and gives access to downtown Munich in about 20 minutes, an easy way to see this wonderful city.

The hotel is opposite the train station (2min walk) which has trains going directly into Munich city centre every 20 mins. There's ample parking space (important for us) and the rooms very nice and clean. Breakfast was good too and WiFi was available.

Der Gasthof liegt wunderschön am Waldrand und man kann sofort entspannen bei einem Spaziergang. Das Einzelzimmer war nur für eine Nacht mit meiner Hündin gebucht und vollkommen ausreichend. Ich konnte zum Abendessen und Frühstück auch meinen Hund mitnehmen. Allerdings wurden wir jedesmal direkt am Eingang zum Restaurant platziert und das war nicht unbedingt schön. Deshalb nur 4 statt der 5 Sterne.

Sov der en enkelt nat på vej hjem fra ferie i Kroatien. Nem og venlig indtjekning, restaurant på stedet, der lukker kl. 22. Super hyggelig og autentisk indretning, af syd tysk/Østrigs stil.
Værelserne var meget varme og uden AC eller vifte, og der var en masse små fluer/insekter særligt på det ene værelse, og der kører et tog hver 10. Minut lige udenfor. ellers et meget fint ophold.

Waldgasthof Buchenhain är bra för övernattning när man är på genomresa. Hotellet ligger utanför München, nära dess södra fashionabla förorter. Personalen är trevlig. Det finns en viss aura av gemyt på hotellet. Rummet var dock litet och ganska obekvämt. Det var inte så välstädat med dammråttor här och där. Heller ingen hiss. Ska man se München är det här inte ett bra alternativ.

La struttura è molto carina e confortevole. Abbiamo soggiornato nei primi giorni di dicembre ed erano già presenti tutti gli addobbi natalizi che rendevano ancora più calda ed accogliente l’atmosfera. Avevamo la sistemazione con tre camere ( siamo una famiglia di 5 persone) comodissima e pulita, ma avrebbe bisogno di qualche lavoro di ammodernamento. Il bagno è un po’ piccolo. Parcheggio e wi-fi ! Posizione eccellente fuori Monaco, ma con la fermata del treno di superficie a 100 metri. Non abbiamo mai usato l’auto.

Испорчен отдых тем, что прибыв в отель, изначально было сказано что носер забронирован на 1 чел. Но после пред’яаления бронирования на 2 чел. И мы заказали номер с двумя отдельными кроватями. Затем был предложен крохотулечный по размеру номер с полуторной кроватью. Время шло, администратор мило улыбалась, затем предложила 2 одноместные каютки. Так как мы были уставшие пришлось согласиться. Душевая задергивается занавеской, которая при купании норовит прилепиться к телу. Вся вода льётся на пол. Интернета нет вообще. Подушки и одеяла далеко не пуховые, как это было заявлено на сайте. Месторасположение не самое удачное если вы передвигаетесь по автобану. В общем большой минус. Даль, что отзывы не все пишут правдивые. А ведь чаще на них больше обращаешь внимание, подбирая номер доя ночлега в путешествии.

Tolles Hotel

Tolles Hotel mit tollem Biergarten. Die Lage ist perfekt, ruhig gelegen, trotzdem direkt beim Bahnhof. Die Standard-Zimmer sind etwas klein, jedoch wunderschön anzusehen mit viel Holz. Das Restaurant verfügt über mehrere Räume, so dass man sich nie wie in einem grossen Restaurant fühlt.

Im Treppenhaus wurde gerade gewischt, als ich zum Frühstück ging.
Der Geruch des Putzmittels war extrem unangenehm und aufdringlich.

Das Einzelzimmer hatte für eine Geschäftsreise genau die richtige Größe. Das Bad war auch okay, allerdings war die Höhenverstellung in der Dusche kaputt und das Wasser lief schlecht ab. Der Aufenthalt war aber trotzdem sehr angenehm und ich habe gut geschlafen. Das Frühstück war gut, hat aber Potential nach oben, z.B. verkochter Kaffee und Auswahl an Brötchen. Alles Kleinigkeiten, ich würde hier aber auf jeden Fall wieder übernachten.

Perfect for Productronica business trip

Great simple hotel exactly met my needs. Visiting Productronica exhibitions, found this hotel with reasonable price - not too much expansive as other hotels doing during events in Munich. The train station is just 3 minutes walk from hotel with perfect connectivity to city. Room small, but clean with everything which you need to rest during business trip. Nice and tasty breakfast. Good sleep. All was fine...except wifi was not really stable during my stay (but hotel was really full due to Productronica event). Summary : I can recommend. Next year for Productronica I will use this hotel again.

super Service, sehr freundlich und korrekt

Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal im gesamten Haus. Obwohl meine kurzfristige Hotels.com Buchung noch nicht im Hotel vorlag, ca. 5 Stunden nach Buchung, hat man mir das letzte verfügbare Zimmer während des Oktoberfesttrubels fertig gemacht. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell. Als ich auch noch bei der Abreise etwas im Zimmer vergaß, wurde meine Bitte um Nachsendung promt und freundlich erfüllt. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert.

Dieses Hotel ist ein guter Kompromiss. Man kann sein Fahrzeug hier stehen lassen und ganz bequem mit der S-Bahn nach Muenchen fahren. Am Abend kann man eine schoene Zeit im hoteleigenen Biergarten (inkl. bayrischer Kueche) verbringen. Fuer die Kinder ist auch gedacht (Huepfburg, Spielplatz), wobei dies noch ausbaufaehig ist, aber das ist kritisieren auf hohem Niveau. Wenn wir mal wieder nach Muenchen kommen, so ist der Waldgasthof eine Ueberlegung wert.

Hotel in toller Ecke

Liegt sehr angenehm am Waldrand in der frischen Natur, weit weg von Beton und Lärm.
Sehr zu empfehlen. Und in knapp 30 min ist man mit der S-Bahn im Zentrum München. Haltestelle quasi vor dem Haus.
