Great area, very quiet. Very friendly staff. A cute quality hotel to get a nice German feel. However our shower didn’t drain and flooded every time we turned on the faucet and there was hair in there from the previous guests. The side of the bed nearest the window was not swept of food crumbs, indicating a lousy clean job. And the fan they brought us didn’t work.

Nice, modern room. Hotel was easy to reach by public transport with good connections to the city centre. Local area was pretty good since it had Lidl and Aldi nearby, as well as a nice, cheap kebab. Beds were comfortable to sleep in. Electric fan was absolutely quality for cooling down in the hot weather. Bathroom was in a clean condition. Only complaint I'd have is that there was some engineering work being done next door and there was constant drilling which was really loud and even made it difficult to speak to each other. But other than that it was a great experience for the price.

Terrible experience

Easily one of the worst experiences I have had in the recent past. I will try to be concise and cover all the relevant points.

1. Bad hotel staff:
We were 3 people in an extremely tiny room with 3 beds during the last week of May in Munich. We stayed for 2 nights. I understand Europe's attempt at being environment friendly and ditching the air conditioner in most places. However, hotels need to understand that not all tourists are used to this setup. I requested a fan for both nights and I was told that we would get a fan only for the 2nd night because the receptionist didn't know where they stored their fans! We never got that fan even for the 2nd night!

2. Rude hotel staff:
While checking out, I reported an issue with the shower area and how water leaked out of the shower area to the toilet and basin area. Instead of noting down the issue and apologizing, the hotel staff was rude and asked me to close the glass door for the shower properly as if it didn't strike us to do that!

3. Not the best location
Don't get fooled by the low prices. If you are a tourist visiting Munich then stay away from this place. Hotel is well connected via public transport but we realized that there are good places near the city center in the similar price range.

I understand that customer service across the world is not as good as it is here in the US, but it doesn't have to be this bad! Overall, poor experience and will advice people to stay away from this place.

Terrible customer service we faced at this hotel!

We, a couple from London, UK were traveling to Munich booked a double room in Gold leaf hotel and the booking was confirmed with a queen bed.
But when we arrived at the hotel the reception was closed and there was neither anyone to see us nor give us the keys! After ringing several times at the door someone picked the phone but wasn’t helpful, they hung up the phone few times. Finally on few more attempts the man on the phone offered a key through the key dispenser!
But when we got to the room it was a small room with two separate fixed single beds on either end of the room! They said it’s too far for them to come and change the room for us to a double bed which we paid for as the reception was closed after 9pm.
But this wasn’t mentioned in the booking confirmation email!
Even next day morning when we were leaving there was no one in the reception around 10:30 AM!
Terrible customer service.

I will start by saying the hotel offers a nice and comfortable room with a good location. That being said, I was quite disappointed with their customer service, and Expedia's. We booked a room for 3 nights starting on the 25th of December, in November. In the middle of December, the hotel decided to close the reception at 4:00 p.m., and claims they sent an e-mail to Expedia for them to inform us. Even if Expedia did send the e-mail (which I couldn't find), I would assume when I called their customer service the night I arrived, they should've been able to inform me what happened, but they did not. They had no recollection of the information, including the fact there was a box next to the front door with a tiny button I could apparently have pressed for help. The hotel staff was rude. Not once did they try to apologize or even empathize with the fact that we nearly slept on the stairs (thank God for the nearby and much nicer -although slightly more expensive- Leonardo hotel). After lots of arguing with the hotel manager they at least agreed to ask Expedia for the refund of our first night. However, no compensation was given for our trouble, the £16 charge for a useless call to Expedia from my phone company, and the difference of cost from the hotel we had to book. Finally: deciding to inform about closing the reception early several weeks after reservation is not ok either. Even if we had seen the e-mail, we would have had to change our flights and pay extra.

Great deal in Munich close to public transportatio

We got a great package deal and were pleased with our stay. It’s about a 5 minute walk to public transportation-UBahn U5 and SBahn S7, which were easy to use. And it’s within the white zone(cheapest tickets). You can find subway maps online to pre plan your trip or choose the public transportation option on google maps and it will detail for you which train to take and switches. Takes about 20-30 minutes to ride the trains into city center. We didn’t mind for the cheap price. The rooms were clean although we did have to ask for items to be restocked-Kleenex and TP. Staff was more than happy to get them for us. Beds were fine for comfort. Close to an Aldis and a small bakery/Cafe. If you want to be in the middle of the city this isn’t for you. If you don’t mind staying on the edge of the city for a great deal then I highly recommend.

Clean, quiet hotel close to transportation

The hotel accommodated an early morning arrival by making up a room that had just been vacated...very happy about that after an overseas \"red-eye\"! Room was clean and neat; bed and bedding was comfortable....room was \"typical\" of small European hotel properties -- just what we needed.

The property was a short walk to public transportation (U-bahn and S-bahn); had a nice little Italian restaurant adjacent to it and a produce market, drug store and other shops a short walk away.

Staff was very attentive...when I needed extra towels, they were upstairs in my room within 5 minutes.

Overall, very pleased with the accomodations!

I had a great stay! The bathroom was very clean and had a great shower! The hotel was really nice and the staff was very accommodating. The housemaids didn't speak any English but were respectful when we were in the room during the day. Wifi worked but could be improved.

The location is convenient as metro and bus stations are within walking distance. Overall it is not a bad hotel but not having any front desk staff after 10:30pm wasn't the best. On our last night there, guests from a few doors away were very loud and it happened to be close to the staff on duty taking off. When I asked her to tell the guests to be quiet, she just told me she was getting off work and could only see what she could do. Obviously she did nothing as they were noisy till past 2am! It made an otherwise great stay annoying!

Have stayed at this hotel several times, on vacations to visit the Christmas markets and Bavaria, and once again was not disappointed!! Rooms are clean and comfortable, staff is overall outstanding, and I cannot recommend this facility enough! It's about 15 minutes from the center of Munich by U-bahn, (the station is a five minute walk away, and that's with a broken foot!!) Was disappointed to find the attached restaurant, Ludwig's, closed. Will miss their food! But other delicious options are nearby, Chinese, Italian, pizza, etc. Quiet neighborhood. Not in \"the thick of things\", but that's fine with me, the location makes it a comfortable place to \"call it a night\", saving money to be spent elsewhere!!!

The bad: The beds are really really small. I booked a queen which turned out to be 140cm - which I think of as a single. It would be really difficult with a couple in the room. The room was tiny and a bit smelly. The wifi is a complete joke.

This was a great room for the price during Oktoberfest 2015. Free parking on the street at the front door was an unexpected bonus. The quiet residential neighborhood was a god counterpoint to the fest. The staff could not have been more accommodating, with precise directions and info about the u-bahn and the ticketing system for touring around the city center on a one day ticket. .

Visit Munich on a Budget

The hotel is very close to a lot of local businesses. It is a 5 minute walk to the U (Germany subway), Buses, Bakery, Laundromat, Supermarket, Drug store, and a few small Restaurants (Chinese, Italian, German). The Public transportation is an affordable and convenient way to get around.
The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel itself is a little dated and the rooms are small. So, if you plan to use your hotel room to sleep, and be out and about, then this is a good hotel for you. If you are expecting or want from you hotel, then look for another option.

Nice hotel in a quiet area, close to U Bahn.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great little restaurant / bar downstairs (Ludwig's Wirthaus). Close to shops, cafes and great restaurants (highly recommend Donna Sofia's near the U Bahn) A 5min walk to Neuperlach Süd U-Bahn station..
It was an excellent stay for a few days.

We loved our stay as it was just as cheap as the hostels in the centre of the city but without all the noise and dirt. The staff were very lovely and helpful and can speak good English. Just around the corner from the station and takes you anywhere and everywhere. Great restaurant and close to a supermarket and Internet cafe.

We spent here 2 nights during our vacation trip in Austria and Bavaria. The room is not big, but has enough space. The hotel has a convenient location in a very calm city part, and it is very close to the subway station, from where you can easily get to the city center. The breakfast is very good. They also offer paring place in an underground garage.

Good for Simenes visits, but not in Summer.

Overall a good option. I have been here this time and in the past to visit Siemens, which has a large campus withing five minutes walking.
However, the hotel has no air conditioning and I might not return if - as last time - temperatures are well above 30C.
I also found the free WiFi painfully slow and the paid option overpriced.

Decent budget hotel

My partner and I stayed here for three nights. The hotel staff was very nice, answered any questions we had, and dealt with all of our concerns (for example, the glasses in our room were dirty when we arrived, so we asked for new ones which were brought immediately).

The hotel is a bit out of the way, but getting into Munich and surrounding areas is easy enough by the U-bahn, which is something like a 7 minute walk away. If you can find a comparable price anywhere closer to Munich, however, I would recommend taking it... given the distance from the city center, if we were going to go out we pretty much had to stay there all day/night, as coming back to our room to chill out or rest took too much time. The room was also quite small and not the cleanest. The headboard for example is made of a felt-like material and had random hairs stuck to it, the minibar smelled off, and the glasses provided were dirty (even the replacement glasses they brought were not very clean).

For the price, however, I don't think too much can be expected, and the room was comfortable and quiet, the service good, and street parking was easy and free with no time restrictions. We also ate at the restaurant downstairs on our last night since we had to be up very early the next day, and the food was good (not great, but good enough) and inexpensive.

Our 3. stay at this hotel. It's located outside of town not to far from the S-bahn and train station. Rooms and kind of small, but for a 1 night stay quite ok. Internet and breakfast included. If traveling by car we recommend buying a place in the hotel garage.
Nice local bar/ restaurant in the hotel, and a short walk to other more modern bars and nightclubs.

Great Munich experience

The location of the hotel was in a great area next to supermarkets, shops, places to eat and most importantly the subway station. The hotel itself was decent and clean, but the wifi didn't work in my room because the phone was out of service. The staff was excellent and very helpful with directions for taking the subway to different locations around the city. Overall, I was pleased with this hotel.

My boyfriend and I spent two nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is lovely-impeccably clean, extremely comfortable! The bed was one of the best we slept on during our month-long trip across Europe. There is a good, reasonably priced restaurant downstairs as well. The wifi is only free if you are in the lobby, but it's fast and you can't beat free wifi. The only downside to this hotel is its location. It's pretty out of the way, but there is a metro stop literally around the corner that connects you with the rest of Munich. Great stay overall.

Excellent. Super friendly staff, comfy beds, flawlessly clean, very professional, reasonable rate, easy commute downtown. Not much in the local area (residential with a vegetable store and bakery thrown in). Takes 25 minutes door to door to get to Marienplatz via Ubahn. Overall very pleased and will stay here again next time I'm in Munich.

One Night in Munich

We stayed here for one night after a concert. We only needed a place to rest our heads before heading home the next morning. This did the trick. It wasn't anything special, but it was fairly close to a U-bahn and S-bahn station to get us to the venue and it was a good price. There wasn't too much around, a pharmacy and a couple smaller convenience stores, but street parking was free. Worth it just for the night.

Octoberfest 2013 6days

Rooms were typical European basic needs. Clean and fresh did not smell of smoke. 3rd floor was dark at night when entering and only lighted from exit lamps was hard to see, location was close to train that takes you any where to fair grounds for October fest and city central for ice and all other major trains throughout the country. From airport it will cost about 75-80 euros!! Take train ! Cheaper. Lobby small for free wi-fi but gets the job done, very friendly staff and helpfull. Arrived on a 8:30 am flight and got to hotel before check in and staff was nice enough to let me check in early, and sleep as soon as room was ready.

Clean, quiet, convenient, and a helpful staff

The hotel is five minutes from an S-Bahn station, which is three stops from the hauptbahnhof. The surrounding neighborhood, which contains a couple of large office buildings, is very quiet at night. We slept well with the windows open. There is also a very good bakery nearby. Late check-in wasn't a problem. We arrived at 10pm and the staff send our key remotely to the entrance.

Nice if basic. Restaurant a hidden gem!

Nice little place. A bit out in the suburbs but safe area with Tube station 5 mins walk. Room pokey and apart from swish TV/PC little in way of amenities. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room which is a bit of a pain. The restaurant attached to hotel is a real hidden gem, recommended for excellent service and authentic Munich fare, popular with the locals as well as visitors.

Well worth a look.

Wouldn't recommend to my friends

The hotel is a 15 minute U bahn ride to the centre of Munich and is in quiet area (apart from when there's a church service, when the bells are rung!!)
The main disappointment was the cleanliness of the room, towels would be re-hung up rather than replaced even though we had put them on the floor of the bathroom as per the instructions. We had no toilet paper overnight on one occasion and this was only remedied when we asked for more at reception the following morning (which isn't staffed 24 hours).There was no air conditioning in our room and it made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

This is a very small hotel room, the bathroom is extremely small, and the cleanliness was not good at all. the subway station is close, but the hotel is far from the center of the town. If you just need a place to sleep is ok, but not for more than one or two nights.

Decent Hotel For a Stay in Munich

Very small rooms. When you close the shower, there is a crack where water can leak out. No air conditioning. About a 10 minute walk from the train stop, which is the last stop on U5, Neuperlach Sud. There is some kind of webtv set up that costs 4,90 in Euros. It will work from the time activated until 11am the next day. My touch pad on the keyboard that moves the cursor didn't work most of the time. After telling the reception they gave me 24 hours of wifi instead.For the webtv, it is best to activate it at about 11:05 to get the most time on it. About 45 minutes from the airport by S1 and U5. The Hotel is in a nice area, near two grocery stores, and some other shops. One of the grocery stores has a huge selection of fresh fruit and vegetables and a nice bakery for breakfast croissants and such. The staff spoke English very well.

Quiet hotel. Easy access to Central Munich.

A quiet hotel in a leafy suburb of Munich. It is very conveniently placed for going into central Munich by tube. No tube changes necessary and about 20 minutes to Munich Central Rail Station on the U5 with frequent trains, for example. There is a pedestrian walk from the hotel direct to the tube station of about 8 minutes. There are one or two small shops nearby for necessities. Pleasant helpful staff with good knowledge of English.

Good value for money. Wi-fi at Euro 17 is too expensive (so did not use it). Our only complaint is that the double bed meant for 2 persons is really too small and hence uncomfortable for 2 persons. Did not sleep well.

Good to Short Stay or as a Base

Location of hotel is 20 mins (by S-Bahn) on the outskirt of the city. Easy down slope 10 mins walk to the \"Neuperlach Sub\" S-Bahn/U-bahn station. Good surroundings with local supermarket, few restaurants & deli/cafes to get by on a daily basis. DO NOTE that the hotel has NO AIR-CON, so can get quite stuffy in summer. Hotel staff do speak & understand English.

A good choice for sightseeing

Very comfortable, airy, warm and well-kept hotel. Our double room was in excellent condition and made a great base to explore the city. The hotel is a few miles out from the centre of the city, and it is primarily a business area (mostly electronics industries, e.g. Siemens), but Munich transport is superb and there is an S-bahn and U-bahn station only a few hundred metres away, with very regular trains. So travel to the centre was easy (easier still to Ostbahnhof for the airport.)
There is a good restaurant attached to the hotel, which we used several times. There are also plenty of shops just around the corner, including a bakery next door which does excellent sit-down breakfasts (in preference to the rather pricey breakfast in the hotel.) We were glad to have brought our travel kettle, however!

Good location and nice front desk agents

My husband and i stayed at this hotel for three nights in March. I personally didnt like the two beds in the room but for the price i paid i couldnt complaint. The hotel is only couple of blocks from a train station and only 15 minutes from the center of the city. I didnt see an air conditioning ib the room so i am not sure if during the summer this hotel is a good place to stay. However, during our stay we had heat to sleep comfortable. Breakfast was not included and it was 12 euro per person. However, there are plenty of places around the hotel where breakfast is cheaper and there is also a supermarket close by. Internet is not even free in the lobby and it is pricey.

Clean and comfortable if a little sleepy

This hotel was clean and comfortable with friendly staff. The district itself is very residential yet the hotel is five minutes walk from the U-bahn directly into the city. The journey takes about 15 mins. This is a cheaper alternative to city centre accomodation which is comfortable and cosy.

My stay at Golden Leaf

The hotel staff are very co-operative. But the rooms do not have comfort. The laptop table is squeezed next to a wardrobe making it very difficult to work. The mains socket for laptop is placed in a very awkward position below the table making it very inaccessible.
Also the internet charges of Euros 17 per day is very very expensive.
Also, being located very far from Hauptbahnof is very inconveneint especially to travelers like me whoneed to spend more than Euros 30 just for one way taxi.

Good, affordable option for those willing to walk a few blocks and Metro

Enjoyed my time at the Goldenleaf Hotel Perlach-Allee. The hotel is just a few blocks from the train station and a 20 minute ride to the central areas of Munich. The hotel provided good service and the restaurant next door was good for breakfast and other meals as needed.

Rooms are clean and service was good. Rooms are European size so those requiring big space will have to look elsewhere but I would recommend to those who enjoy exploriation and public transport and who do not plan to spend lots of time in the small room.

Near fast train to town center, excellent breakfast included

Easy to get to tourst areas on fast train. Nice rural location, very safe to walk around. Average room. Noisy if on 1st floor, can hear lobby and desk. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast included.

Nice room, BUT...

The room is nice and the hotel is in a nice neighborhood, easily accessible using the U5 to Neuperlach Sud. However, 13 Euros per day for WiFi access is a bit too much. It is obvious this hotel caters to business people with an expense account. Also, the bed seemed comfortable, but we woke up feeling stiff in the morning. Breakfast was also expensive, so we chose to go down the street to buy a pastry at one of the local bakeries.

Quiet and comfortable

This hotel is in a business district, so there is not much to see in the immediate area, but it is only 5 mins walk from the Schnellbahn which takes you to the centre in about 20 mins. The staff are very helpful and produced a reading light for me without quibble. On German Mothers' Day they gave each Mum a beautiful long-stemmed rose. The adjoining restaurant serves a good selection of breakfast foods including scrambled egg and bacon and delicious rolls and croissants. In the evening they offer specialities of the region at a reasonable price. Don't miss their Kaiserschmarren with Apfelmus, a thick spongy pancake dredged with icing sugar, cooked to order.

Nice for a great price

I stayed with some colleagues in this hotel after a conference near Munich. Its a bit \"out of town\" but there are really convenient S-Bahn and Underground services close by. Its a residential area and hence really quiet and save also during the night. The reception staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The hotel also offered this \"Breakfast-to-go\" (really good price-for-value) which we found very handy for the day we went to see Neuschwanstein Castle, as we had to leave early on a Sunday morning for this. Altogether, for our needs this hotel was perfect!
