Lovely little islands to paddle around, big clean beach that is cleared of rubbish and raked daily. It's quite an old resort but clean and beautifully maintained gardens. Two massive pools, spotlessly clean. Breakfast was lavish! Our room was enormous, clean, well appointed, great shower and bath. Staff very friendly and helpful. There's a good little market next to the resort.

There are also a couple of boutique shops selling quality souvenirs and essentials. The private beach is well maintained and the sea very clean and warm. The room was amazing—spotlessly clean, well-furnished, and incredibly comfortable. The front desk team, especially Ms. Fiza, was respectful, humble, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. There was another gentleman at reception, unfortunately i missed his name.
We did face a small concern as there was no lift access to the 3rd floor, which was challenging for our family. Thankfully, Mr. Hakimin from the team was very understanding and quickly arranged a comfortable room on a lower level. His prompt support was much appreciated and showed the resort’s dedication to guest comfort.
Breakfast was a highlight each morning, offering a wonderful variety of Malaysian dishes—from freshly baked items to roti canai, custom egg omelets, and more. Tanjung Rhu Resort is located in a dream spot. Absolutely stunning private beach with beautiful sunsets. Beautifully maintained garden and lovely pool areas (separate pool for adults only which is ideal for a couple). Very attentive and friendly staff really made us feel welcome and taken care off. Dinner options not very exciting but great selection for breakfast. We absolutely loved our stay and would come back any time over the more ‘highly rated’ places in the west of the island where we’ve stayed as well.

The suites are spacious and clean and even the outdoor bathrooms are pretty! My family and I did enjoy our stay.

If you have someone in your group who has mobility challenges, you might want to make the same request.

I liked the amazing beach, no single-use plastics, expansive pools. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean. The hotel also offered a lot of complimentary activities, especially for kids, which were very thoughtful. For improvement, the hotel can consider more environmentally friendly practices, such as reducing boating activities around sensitive mangroves, not feeding wildlife or offering tours that feed wildlife (eagles, monkeys, squirrels), and improving wait times for meals and using more healthy ingredients for meals (e.g., less salt).

I highly recommend Tanjung Rhu resort, for a little slice of paradise. The lush, tranquil setting is unmatched, away from the hustle and bustle of more touristy areas of Langkawi. The outlook from the rooms and beach is simply breathtaking, overlooking a private beach on the Andaman sea, and with beautiful rugged islands just adding extra visual interest.
The resort itself is wonderful, huge rooms, comfortable beds, incredible buffet breakfast, great facilities, particularly the enormous pools. It’s a 5 min walk to the jetty where fabulous mangrove boat tours of the Kilim geoforest park depart, but nestled away in its own expansive setting, so you feel exclusive and pampered.
Most of all, the staff are friendly and welcoming, from the front of house staff, to the servers in the restaurants, to the staff maintaining the beautiful gardens. You should splash out and stay here, you won’t regret it.

First off, the beach and the surrounding area is stunning. Gorgeous beach and bath warm sea. The gardens of the hotel are equally beautiful and very tropical with lily ponds and amazing plants.
The pizzas from the pub bar are really good. Sadly all the restaurants are still using plastic straws.
Our room was really disappointing. The sofa was broken at the bottom and needed a good clean. The beds were poorly made up with the valences not fitted and hanging off as our stay progressed. There was part of the bath that just needed fitting properly. The shower pressure was non existent with the overhead shower and the tiles needed cleaning properly. When we did an under bed check before leaving there was a previous guest slipper and a ton of dust.
We did ask for a room change but were told that non were available even though they were showing on booking sites

We did a later breakfast and had no clue that there was an eggs menu as these were not placed back on the tables for later guests. It was only when I saw scrambled eggs go by that I was offered one.

The hotel looks nothing like the pictures. The pictures have been taken 20 years ago. Almost every piece of furniture is chipped, or broken, rooms are incredibly basic. Our room- tv didn’t work, nothing in the mini bar, old thread towels, air conditioning could not below 24 degrees, walls heavily market, windows required cleaning, every piece of furniture had stains. A very dirty old hotel.

When you are being driven into the resort through the conservation area and then you get your first glimpse of the beach from reception it feels special and it is. First time at this fabulous resort. Can only highly recommend it especially for families but equally nice for couples. Great idea to have a large family pool on one side and an equally large adult only pool on the other side of the resort. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. An example is how they want their way to get gluten free flour at short to be able to provide me with gluten free bread. Every body greats you with a smile.

Just little things like that were a little frustrating but as they were so friendly it was hard to be annoyed.

We really enjoyed our stay there. It was quiet , the staff was extremely helpful and polite. The buffet breakfast is fantastic. Even there is a renovation ongoing , it did not affect us at all. The room was clean and huge. I would advise to rent a car as the resort is far from town or Cenang.

The staff at Tanjung Rhu resort deserve 5 stars for friendliness. The resort gets 5 stars too for the spectacular beach front view, planting and landscaping. Parts of the resort need upgrading as it’s looking tired. The standard room is spacious, beds comfortable, however, furniture need replacement. With that said it is probably still the best place to get a good chill time.

This is a truly incredible location and the whole resort is beautiful. All of the staff were lovely and helpful. The beach and swimming pools exceptional.
In it’s usual glory I would definitely give 5 stars but unfortunately half of the hotel has been left to deteriorate and other areas were being worked on and this took away a little from the charm.
Secondly the service in some of the restaurants and bars was slow and a little disorganised.
Once building work and repairs are completed this will be a truly special place to stay

Oh, where do I begin? My family of six and another family of six just had the most memorable vacation at this beach resort. Sure, the location was a bit far from everything, but who needs to leave the resort when the beach is so beautiful and serene?

They were so friendly and slow that it gave us ample time to fully appreciate the tropical paradise around us. Checking in and out took a while, but hey, that's just more time to soak up the sun and relax.
And don't even get me started on the luggage situation. Carrying our bags up the stairs was an excellent workout and made us feel like we were earning our piña coladas. Speaking of drinks, the bartender was a bit slow, but that just gave us an excuse to take in the stunning view of the ocean while we waited.

Pleasant stay at the resort, it was quiet and close to the beach. Breakfast spread was amazing as well. Limited dining options otherwise for other meal times and not many restaurants or shops around the resort within walking distance, need to take a taxi quite a long way out. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. Some parts of the resort seem to be under construction hence not the most pleasant looking but it didnt affect our stay.The staff were very helpful and reachable. Overall value for money and also recommend if youre looking for a quiet time away from busyness.

Fantastic beach resort with outstanding view and outstanding pools. Just for that the hotel is worth a great comment but the rest of the hotel is really run down in some sections, and the service can tend to be very slow. We hear that the hotel is in such condition after Covid and they are doing the necessary investments after the hotel was acquired. Definitely worth a visit but not quite where it could be in terms of service and overall condition.
