It was… okay. The only source of water was a communal water jug in the lobby that often times went without being refilled the entire day. One of our keys worked fine, the other was spotty. At one point both keys stopped working, along with two others guests at the same time. While we were getting the keys reset another guest shared that a random person banged on her door and insisted that they worked for the hotel and needed let in- front desk had no idea about it. On the day of our check out a random employee walked into the room without knocking or announcing themselves. When they realized we were still in the room they left without saying anything…
Also when we asked for ice we were directed to the staff only area in a back hallway and told we’d need to bring a bag because they didn’t have anything for us to transport. So we emptied our toiletry bag to get ice.
Stay was fine for $85 a night but I would not pay anything more.

My stay was during the late Winter. The room was very comfortable. The room was small, yet functional. The bathroom and tub were spacious. The staff was nice and efficient.

The hotel was clean but does not look anything like the pictures at all. The hotel is very outdated and the WiFi was TERRIBLE could not get any work done. If your a man traveling alone looking to save money great place to stay a couple of nights. If your a women traveling alone this hotel would be not be the safest choice.

This hotel is in a very convenient place to visit all the Washington highlights. It a historic building that has undergone a number of renovations. It has some of its Victorian Charm with some 1980's paneling and nice updates. The bathroom had an 8 spray shower that was amazing and lots of room. The bed was comfy and the staff was super helpful. It has a small lobby but is great for reasonable, clean and central place in DC

The hotel is pretty basic, but in a walkable area. Amenities weren’t the greatest. WiFi wouldn’t connect and the toilet pressure was low. But it’s fine for the price and location.

We had a mostly great stay. My only complaint about the hotel is there was no coffee available at 745am and I was told it would be at least 30 minute wait before there was. We were trying to get up and out and this caused us to have to track down a nearby place in the rain. The closest we found open was several blocks away. Please consider updating the coffee area even if its just an instant option.
The other big issue that isn't necessarily the hotels fault, our neighbor in room 702 last night screamed, cried, cussed and threatened to blow people's heads off for over 2 hours. She was clearly having an mental episode. I had to reach out multiple times to the front desk. My daughter was terrified and it kept us up past 10pm as we shared a wall with her. But you cant choose your neighbors. The front desk was helpful in deescalating the ordeal.
Otherwise I was very happy with our stay. The price, location, cleanliness and staff were all wonderful. We will definitely stay again!

The fan in the bathroom was connected to the light and was so incredibly loud - it was super disturbing whenever you had to use the bathroom, including while getting ready. The shower is an overhead showerhead which if you don’t want to get your hair wet is a disaster. There’s no avoiding it. Also, the toilet clogged without using much TP. The heater in the room blows on and off every minute or so which is hard to sleep with but required in the middle of winter. Also, the ice machine is in the basement and the operator option on the phone didn’t work so we had to go down to the lobby anytime we had a question. There is hardly anything to eat in the area which is a bit inconvenient.

I would rate my stay a 3.5. First, the cost to stay in downtown DC was unbeatable. The staff was wonderful, the hotel and especially the room was CLEAN - like I was very happy with the cleanliness, the rooms were a good size, and there was always coffee, tea, and water in the lobby. The hotel is a historic building, so it's both old and cool. One must know that this is not a modern hotel. My concerns with with my hot water and the noise from the window unit. I would still recommend this hotel and hopefully, someone wouldn't expect high-end amenities at a lower price point.

It’s an okay economy hotel. My first night was weird since I kept bumping into rotten fruits in the hotel corridors and lobby. The escalator had bad odors and the AC was very noisy, however necessary since it was 30ºC outside.

My husband and I were going to a concert at the Warner Theatre. The Architect was walkable to and from the show; the area was safe. We were able to walk to The Hamilton for dinner before the show, and we stopped for drinks at a different bar on the way back to the hotel.
The hotel is older, but it is charming. The room was perfect for us for the night. We were on the 9th floor, and I was pleased with the water pressure in the shower--you never know when you are in an older building on the top floor. The bed was fine.

Great little find that was perfect for my conference. Staff was extremely friendly and quick to support. Rooms were small but comfortable and met all of my needs. Excellent location within walking distance of the Convention Center and National Mall. Great price point too!

But there are kind hard working people running the hotel.
The bed felt like a memory foam mattress. It was comfortable.
The one major issue is the hotel requires a credit card for security but also charges a 3% credit card fee. This should not be allowed on Expedia. It is one thing to have a fee when you let people pay cash. But this is a hotel.

The property was convenient to the convention center. I love old architecture, but I was disappointed the hotel has not updated their security and key system. They lock the front entrance at night. I was out late during my stay and had to call the hotel for someone to buzz me in. They didn’t answer the door bell. That was kind of scary for a single woman traveling alone.

We knew this was the lowest priced hotel in DC, so our expectations were low. But we just needed a place to sleep. However, the front desk was ready for us. Very pleasant woman sang to us while checking us in. Everyone that worked the front desk was super nice! Our room was perfect. Full size bed, great closet & bathroom. Very clean. Our only concern was that housekeeping came in to make the bed and clean the room even though we didn't put the door hang out asking for it. We didn't want anyone in the room, but they came in any way. Check out was a breeze. Parking on the streets is free on the weekends. We walked to the White House, and several other destinations. It was a great surprise to have a great place to crash out and regroup!! Will definitely stay here when we come back!!
