The lobby is beautiful and smells really great. However when I checked into the hotel (paid an early check in fee) the bathroom was not fully cleaned, when I let housekeeping know she told her supervisor, they came back together and looked at it but did nothing to fix it right away

Issues with the room..particularly repair ceiling leak in the bathroom over the started leaking overnight almost causing a fall from the water above.
Housekeeping missed our room.
View from this suite was the next building

We had a great two days stay at the Hamilton hotel that we thought was extremely lovely and presentable and clean. The staff were super friendly and very helpful and we had breakfast on the terrace. It was a beautiful day and the service was great and the food was delicious. It’s a very centrally located hotel in a nice neighborhood so we were delighted! Thank you!

The hotel is very beautiful and in a very convenient location. I upgraded to a studio king, and to be honest I did not like it. The part view room was so much better. The studio king room had one window that pointed to some dark alley. I paid more for it, but in my opinion, it was a downgrade.

Location was great, subway was just a block or 2 away. Staff was great. 20 minute walk to a few of the museums. As for the room, there were 2 red jellybeans on the floor by the beds. Even after 1 night and housekeeping came, they were still there. Sink had chips/crack, visible stains on carpet. Bathroom was clean, but those details took away the quality that was expected. Pillows were too big or bulky, not comfortable to sleep on.

Eating at the restaurant: breakfast was average, lunch was below average. Could not sleep on pillows (too high). Front desk messed up early check-in. Should replace double beds with queens.

The room was modern, quiet, clean and spacious.
Window was facing building, but there was plenty room to adjacent building.

The rooms in the building showed signs of wear in the bathroom, with ventilation fans not working and threadbare single layer shower curtains, but the fixtures were good and hot water was near immediate with great pressure.

The food was fine, the bar was a bit overpriced (I would tip more if they weren’t charging nearly $20 a shot).

The staff were stellar. At every turn, they helped me as quickly as possible and I felt their dedication to giving me the best service and stay possible.

My room was very comfortable, the AC powerful, though the sound from adjoining rooms carried over a little (other ACs turning on and off, doors slamming, hot water through pipes), though this is standard in most hotels.

This would have to be the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some pretty noisy hotels in Vegas and New York. The noise did not come from outside, however it was all inside the property. Not sure if it was the elevator or something else but there was a loud banging noise going off every few minutes until well after 11pm. I checked out a day early due to the lack of sleep. Other than the noise, the property was
nice enough.

Historical property. Our room was showing age and lack of maintenance. There were pits in the bathroom floor. A wall unit was partially falling out from the wall—not sure what it was.
Staff was exceptional, always giving 100 percent to serve the guest. Good location for walking to almost all sites.

We had the unfortunate experience of being placed in the room next to the 24 hour fitness room. People were dropping weights at all hours. When we arrived in the room, there was an unusual smell. We couldn't figure out if it was an air freshener or something else.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. There are several locations in DC within walking distance. The room was very clean and beds were very comfortable.

Overall, the hotel is very nice. Beautiful interior and staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. I upgraded to an Alexander room last minute and was disappointed to find that the carpet and furniture in the room was riddled with stains. It was disgusting and for the price being charged for a suite that should be a non issue.

Located just a few blocks from the White House, the location is perfect. Room was very nice with a great view of the park, rates were good, the valet parking is a little expensive but very convenient and it's expected at the location. The restaurant is good and with the 15% off for hotel guests makes it a little less overpriced. Would definitely recommend this hotel, a lot of pros and not many cons.

This hotel was really a mixed bag. I was suppose to get some perks with Expedia such as a food and beverage credit and room upgrade. They did not mention any of that when I checked in and I had to inquire. They confirmed the food credit was available, but would not give me an upgraded room. I believe it was because we already settled into our room before inquiring about the upgrade. I will never let the Expedia 'perks' sway me to book a particular hotel again. However, I was able to check in early which was so nice after a long day of traveling. The room was clean, but the window was facing a dark wall. I could not see anything which was a real disappointment. And did not get the upgraded room and in fact, I probably got the absolute worst room in the entire building. I don't think I will stay at this hotel again. The location was in a decent area, but the restaurant attached was awful and we had to walk to find food. I think this hotel is okay.

I liked the hotel—great location and friendly staff.
However, I was disappointed by unexpected charges at checkout. I paid about $91 at check-in, which I was aware of based on my Expedia reservation. But the additional $145 charged at checkout was never disclosed during the booking process. Greater transparency about fees would have made for a much better experience.

Room was advertised with a park view,didn't get that. Room was cleaned daily but not properly, I had to ask for it to be vaccumed one of the days, bed sheets left all ruffled up under comforter. Valet drivers were rude and of no help. Other than that everything was good.

Very Disappointing and Not Worth the Price
I stayed at Hamilton Washington DC and was extremely disappointed. The entire hotel is old and outdated — the rooms, the furniture, the bathroom — everything looks worn out and in need of serious renovation. The photos on the booking website showed a completely different picture: modern, clean, and well‑maintained rooms. In reality, nothing matched those images.
When we raised our concerns at the front desk, we were told: “What do you expect for this price?” — even though the price was far from low. I consider this pure deception. Showing attractive photos online and then providing old, poorly maintained rooms is simply unacceptable.
I do not recommend this hotel. For the same amount of money, you can find much better options in Washington, DC.

The restaurant is awful with no options, it is also extremely expensive. DO NOT stay here if you have kids. the plumbing is so loud it sounds like a burst pipe in your room when someone flushes the toilet or showers in the other rooms. People were in the hallway all hours of the night drunk fighting or yelling. The rooms have no microwaves, there is 1 $25 microwave in a closet in the 3rd floor for the whole hotel to use which is sat on a wobbly little side table.. the microwave door cant even open nor can you fit a plate in there. their \"Mini Fridges\" are more like micro fridges that freeze everything solid no matter what temperature you set it on. The beds don't even have fitted sheets, nor do the comforters have covers on them. The bathrooms have awful shower heads that spray everywhere but down, it also appeared that they painted over mold in the bathroom because the exhaust fan didn't work. Overall, DO NOT STAY HERE. we ended up leaving a whole day early from our trip because we couldn't stomach another sleepless night in this hotel. overall if i could rate it a 0 I would.

Deceptive Photos & Poor Value – A Warning for Professionals

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at The Hamilton. The marketing photos are completely deceiving. The room is tiny, congested, and has a very strong, unpleasant odor. It feels like an old, poorly maintained building rather than the premium experience advertised.
To make matters worse, breakfast at Via Sophia is a total rip-off. I paid $24 (after a mandatory 18% tip and tax) for a tiny, shallow plate of oatmeal that wouldn't fill a child. Serving such small portions at these prices is insulting to professional travelers. The room smells, the food is overpriced, and the 'amenities' feel like a scam. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but I would skip breakfast because of the price (one oatmeal costs $25???)

We were in DC to see a concert down the street at Hamilton Live. The front desk staff and valet parking attendants were great. The room was clean. I liked the refillable bottles of soaps and lotion in the bathroom. We had drinks in the bar before we went to dinner—again the staff was great. We had breakfast in the restaurant before we checked out. Did not disappoint. We would definitely stay again.

Nice old hotel! Conveniently located to DC attractions. Lots of little breakfast/lunch places nearby and a CVS. Enjoyed our stay. Valet parking was steep at $69 a day.

A few negatives....Too much furniture in small room. Refrigerator was filled with mini bar items and no room to put our food/drinks. We had an adjoining room so we could hear the conversations next door. Bathroom mirror was deep/really far away from the sink which made it difficult to apply make up, etc. Lighting also wasn't great in bathroom.
