The location was great-we were able to start our hikes to the monasteries right from the hotel without dealing with parking nightmares. Check in was not done in person. You needed to follow instructions from the owner to put code in to get a key. Was a bit complicated especially since we arrived when it was getting dark. I prefer having an in person introduction to the room. The room was clean and the beds comfy but it was very dark. One of the lamps did not have a bulb in it. They took care of it for us but the light was still not sufficient. There were not many places to plug in electronics and none by the bed. The breakfast was pretty bad. We ended up eating breakfast our last day in Kalambaka.

Great little gem in meteora

Old-fashioned decor - in a positive way - and typical architecture. Impressive location at the foot of the rock formations and close to the major monasteries with a short taxi ride. The village offers a number of decent dining options but steep and hilly roads may constitute an obstacle for those who have diffculties walking. (Which would also be a problem to visit the monasteries as such.)

Best place to stay in Kastraki/Meteora!

The owner was incredibly helpful in letting us know what to do around Meteora. Views from our room were incredible and the room itself was beautiful. Breakfast every morning was the best I’ve had in Greece! I would definitely stay here again.

This house is a true gem. Located very close to the Meteora, the house is historical, recently renovated and offers free parking, WiFi and breakfast. Our room was excellent with a nice balcony and fireplace. The bed was super comfortable. The AC worked perfectly. The bathroom was color coordinated with the room. The water pressure was excellent and the bath towels were just the right roughness to properly dry you. There are beautiful views from the balcony, right next to the stones. A fantastic coffee shop is just next door. Breakfast was authentic and fresh. Highly recommend!

Really interesting 200 year old bed and breakfast. Very well up kept. Great location. Proprietor is terrific, drive down from hotel to show us how to get there, provided information about area without being intrusive and very good breakfasts. Would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in the area.

The worst experience in 8 weeks in Greece

Got smaller/different room than booked/paid for. Not that we are especially picky but when you book room with balcony with two twin beds and get one queen and no balcony, that is a big disappointment. Breakfast very poor by Greek standards - by far the worst we had in 8+ weeks of traveling in that country. No receipt at the end despite our request. We chose the place based on the excellent reviews but it was the worst value for money (and that the price tag was quite steep for off-season Greece).

The hotel is very nice and honey. A beautiful room and no tour buses (a plus for us). It is a short walk from a number of authentic and affordable restaurants as well. Nice breakfast. The only issue was Expedia sent us to another hotel via Google maps. Tricky to get to without GPS

Peace in a touristy Meteora

Perfect location in Kastraki (small village next to larger more touristy Kalabaka). We had the superior room with Meteora view and it was DIVINE. Our unit was separate from the main house and had its own large porch. It was so calm and relaxing. Check-in was a breeze with the property owners mother who speaks only a few words of English. She was delightful and so kind. The property owner met us and explained the area to us as well. The unit was VERY spacious. Overall wonderful stay!!

Very lovely guest house. We loved its isolation and view of the huge mountains behind us. How wonderful to walk down to a traverna for dinner. It reminds me of a hobbit house ... a unique experience and a wonderful nights sleep!

Very nice old house, which was completly renovated, but still has the spirit. It is a totally different accomodation expiriance and it is worth every cent. The owners are great. The breakfast was very tasty. The earia around is breathtaking.

The owner (and her mother) were extremely helpful to find alternative accommodation for one of our party whose booking had not been confirmed and helped with arrangements for our guide.

The guesthouse has great views of the imposing Meteora, but you have to request a room with a view! Mine unfortunately did not have a view and the hairdryer in the room did not work.

Situé dans la vielle ville, pas évident à trouver, petite ruelle... Mais que de charme, notre chambre était au pied de ces formations rocheuses qui nous semblait irréaliste. On se croyait dans un autre monde... à 5 min. en voiture des monastères que dire de plus.

Surrounded by Giants.

This guest house is in one of the best locations for truly feeling you are in the beautiful place. The owners truly care about their guests and have the best tips on what to see and the best way to get there. Bring your hiking sticks as the closest hill will call you to come explore right away. The small town is has everything you need and good places to eat.

Village serenity and beautiful setting.

Nestled at the base of the mountains in Kastraki, it was filled with quaint charm and true village life. Breakfast setting was special and you ordered what you like - all good. Helpful with information and room was on the small side but quite adequate and spotless. Had all the amenities and both Kalabacka and Meteora were only a short drive away. Perfect location - quietness and beauty. Getting there was interesting!

Nice enough place, but not a warm welcome

We had a disappointing first impression as we arrived to find that we had to phone someone to let us in, and we didn't have the Greek international dialling code on hand. Then, we were not given the room I had booked, which was their largest \"quadruple\" room (I had specially chosen this to get some extra space and paid an extra $20 a night relative to their deluxe room). Our hostess said it was under repair, but didn't offer any refund, instead trying to argue that the room we were given was better. It was comfortable enough, but smaller than we had hoped, and rather dark. On the positive side, the bathroom was bright and functional, the room was kept very clean, the breakfast was very generous and tasty, and we appreciated the free wifi and quiet area, at the foot of the spectacular meteora.

We were there only one night. It is a very little hotel in a out of the city location. When we arrived no one was there, only a little ad asking to call a phone number, after we called an old woman don't speaking a word of english came from other house to open the hotel and she gave us the room and the hotel.keys. In the room there were not towels nor soap.
The breakfast was good but not very good.

Decent Guesthouse for Price

Nothing fancy, nothing terrible. Price was decent.
The guesthouse was difficult to find, have to drive down a winding road.
There is parking right in front of the guesthouse
Look for signs for guesthouse \"Petrino\" not sure if they just changed their name.
The room was very small, but clean.
Breakfast consisted of mostly bread, which seems to be typical for the area.
The WiFi was very weak, again, expected.

Delightful place

The guesthouse is a small bed and breakfast by the old town square, a little bit always from the current town center of Kastraki. It is a bit of a challenge to find the place as you have to drive up steep and windy paths. The owner is very friendly and speaks English- she is very informative of the area and gives you all the information you need to get around. She also takes care to see that you are comfortable. The one thing to get used to is that she lives elsewhere so she is not there all the time. Her elderly mother is there to greet you but speaks only Greek, and there is a number to call for initial questions. The room is cozy and warm and had been recently renovated. Breakfast is great with fresh yogurt and home made marmalade from the mother (very yummy!)

nice hotel to feel medieval style

We used google map to find hotel. However, it was very hard to find and we had to drive very narrow alley. When we leave, we found different road, a little bit wide.
It is much like a lodge and only a few rooms are in a house. The door was low and I hit the head when getting in the room. Room was big and had exta beds although we did not use it. Breakfast was at the basement. Dining room was small but like home. It was continental breakfast, however, serving of staff made us feel that we were treated well.
It was unique and pleasant experience staying this hotel.

Lovely hotel, incredible location

We loved this hotel, which is located in the smaller, quieter town further away from the very touristy Kalambaka. The owners were friendly and helpful, making sure we knew how to get to all the places we wanted to visit. They also recommended a great taverna near the town square, just a few minutes' walk from the hotel. The rooms were nice, though you can hear a bit of noise from rooms above. The view from the gardens and little balconies were incredible. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and included home-made jams and local honey. We would absolutely stay here again!
