The rooms were basic, which was fine for a crew of guys but basic things lacked like the toilets did not flush in one of the two rooms booked. The coffee pot didn’t work. The doors to the rooms also didn’t shut properly without force and if it was not locked from the inside they could be easily pushed opened.

Staff at desk were wonderful. The property is undergoing renovation and is obviously a work in progress. The room was comfortable, attractive, updated, ecologically sensitive, but did not have some of the amenities we have come to expect, like shower caps, hand and body lotion, etc.

Our room was more dusty than any hotel room I have ever been in...literal dust balls on the night stand, and the remote was covered in dust so that was a big disappointment. My comforter also had a tear on top of it. The Firetender restaurant was very nice and had great pizza and very friendly staff. Front desk staff was very night as well. The hotel is a hotel/motel so I think that may be important for some people to know...the bottom floor rooms face out to the parking lot. The location was within walking distance to downtown Manteo which was definitely a nice perk.

There is nothing about this hotel that says “Wyndham”. More like hotel of horrors. First, it’s a MOTEL not a hotel. The rooms smells like straight bleach like they’re trying to cover a murder. There is no direct beach assess as pictured in the images on Expedia. In fact, the hotel in the images is NOT hotel Manteo at all. Beware. I ended up checking out and driving up to the Hilton garden inn in Kitty Hawk because I was too creeped out to stay there.

Very mixed- the staff were wonderful. Very accommodating, friendly, the new restaurant staff was great. The room seemed okay on the surface, but once we were there one night- we debated going home early. The floors were sticky and when I started wiping them down the towel turned so black I had to throw it away. The AC in the room didn’t work and the room itself had a very musky smell. The gym is small but mighty with great equipment and was clean. We were in a last minute pinch to book and the main picture on hotels.com make the property look like it has nearby beach access…. I have no idea what that picture is to, but it certainly is not this property. There is a large price difference. Properties with easy beach access and amenities with a dog were pulling up over $500 with this property being considerably lower. When traveling with a pup, we understand we are limited, so this wasn’t the worst experience. It’s close to downtown Manteo docks and an easy drive or bike ride to the lost colony. It’s on the main road, but we couldn’t hear the traffic noise from our room. It’s a 10 min. Drive to OBX beaches, and there are some nice places around the hotel such as the front porch coffee shop, restaurants, and the downtown Manteo (pronounced Maneo) area.

If you're looking for convenience to Manteo, the Hotel is located within minutes by car or a short walk. The Hotel is in desperate need of remodeling as the rooms are dreary and uninviting. Cleanliness was average. Parts of the back parking lot need paving badly, with crater size potholes that you need to circumvent. The third building in back borders a road that is very loud with cars racing up and down. The staff were pleasant and amiable, but that doesn't overshadow the needs of the property. Decent value, but it comes at the cost of amenities and overall invitingness.

This is a nice older hotel that they are just starting to renovate. It's been around since the 1950s and it is definitely simple and a bit dated but it was very clean, reasonable and close to everything. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of towels. It was also quiet.

The room was clean and comfortable. It is located in a quiet area with only a 10 minute drive to the area. The pool was really nice. We stayed for a week and the card in the room said we would get room service halfway through our stay if we wanted it. We put the card out to service the room but they didn’t do it. We then found a staff member and asked for clean towels and to sweep the floor. We did get a couple of clean towels but it didn’t feel like they swept the floor. If there had been a broom in the room , I would have swept the sand up every couple days. I would stay there again. I like the location

When we arrived we found out that the Deluxe suite that we ordered and paid for was in a separate building on the second floor with no elevator in the building. We expected the suite to be accessible for the disabled. My wife cannot climb stairs. We ended up taking a single ground floor room at the front of the main building. This provided constant traffic noise, especially in the early morning. The bathroom was so small, you had to stand in the tub to shut the door. It was difficult to obtain maid service when needed, we had to go to the front desk to get clean towels. Front desk personnel were friendly. The facility was pet friendly for my service dog and walk areas were accessible. I asked for a refund on the difference in the room prices, but they said because I had booked through Expedia, I needed to get the refund from Expedia. We were so unhappy with accommodations that we left on Friday even though we had paid through Saturday. We paid a total of $1167.16, including taxes. The cost of the smaller room cannot be seen on your site, possibly because of current availability, Please provide a refund as described.

Staff was not very hospitable and we asked when our room would be cleaned we were told they did not have maid service then another front desk employee told us rooms are cleaned every 3 days . We were they 4 nights and our room was never cleaned. We had to bring our dirty towels to the desk and get fresh ones. It was not worth the money we paid.

I had reserved a King room but when I got to my room, it had double beds. I asked at the front desk and was told they were out of King beds. Normally, I would expect to be told about this at check-in. The room had a very strong smoke smell and there was an old air purifier rubbing the entire time, but the smoke smell didn’t go away.

However the lobby area was pleasant and clean with very nice staff!

Very noisy due to room beside us had an unattended dog that barked consistently for hours and randomly throughout the night. Property is dated. The air conditioning unit had a very loud vibration and rattled when on. The bathroom vent was extremely loud and was connected to the overhead light so you could not operate them independently. There was a lot of light that shown into the room around the door that opened into the hotel and made it difficult to sleep. The pros are the location and ease of parking.

My husband and I stayed in a King Efficiency. Our first night there was a Monday and everything in the area is either closed on Monday's or closes early. We decided to get food and cook in the room since there was a cooktop. Unfortunately, we ended up eating our steaks with our hands because there was no silverware. After bringing this to the property managers attention (who just acquired this property 4 months ago) she was well aware and admitted that she did not do her due diligence before taking on this property. She was not able to provide us with the needed utensils as it goes against a health code being that there is not a dishwasher in the unit.
The floors in our room were dirty (prop mgr also admitted that floors have been an issue) and the dehumidifier had not been emptied prior to our arrival.
The other desk attendants were openly speaking negative of the housekeepers and other frustrating things about their job, which I felt was very unprofessional.

The hotel itself was fine if just looking for a safe place to lay your head. The bed was comfortable and the AC was cold. I do not feel that it lived up to its price.

For a Trademark Collection Wyndham hotel, Hotel Manteo was a huge disappointment. So much so that I chose to leave and find other accommodations. The property was run down, not clean and did not feel as though it was in a safe area. The hotel did offer a full refund (although I have yet to receive it.)

I enjoyed my stay with the exception ,we went to the pool one evening and were leaving and were met by some man I assume he was staff who kept telling us that we couldn't be in the pool because it wasn't certified for us to be in there at that time.Not sure what that was all about. We were getting out of the pool anyway. We had asked at check in for a pool closing time and weren't given a time. It was about 830pm.Oh and there weren't any pool towels.

There was no toilet paper on the holder in the bathroom. After a brief search I found a new roll and installed it on the holder myself. There was a Keurig coffee maker in the room, but no coffee. This is my third stay at this hotel and the second time there has been no coffee in the room. The first time I had to go to the front desk and ask for some, but this time I didn't realize it until the next morning, which was too late to bother with it.

I don't want this to actually be a complaint because the staff was great but, at check in, the key programmer wasn't working so we had to prop open the door for a while so we could load in. After I did get a key card, we only received one and there were actually two of us so a little inconvenient. Also, the key card would only work on the outside door and would not work on the inside door. Other than that, everything was okay. Loved the new restaurant.

It was horrible. The hallways had a strong odor that was very unpleasant. Our room had dusty baseboards. The sink soap dispenser did not have a lid/cover and the liquid soap was old. The hair and body products in the shower dispenser were old and grumpy. Black mold along the shower door corners and door slide. There was an inch gap on the door. Furnishing were old and outdated, nothing as described. Floor was dirty and towels were not fresh. I will never stay at this hotel or recommend to anyone!

Signed up for king and got 2 full bed room. No desk, no chair to sit in. Door was damaged did not lock properly. Space around door and underneath. They offered me another room. Same door not latch. Next door dog barking. Advertised breakfast not available. Store empty. Run down room with peeling paint. Requested early check out. Told I had to pay since after 11 am. Terrible place. Description not accurate.

The front staff at check-in was great. Very friendly.

The room appeared clean until we took off our shoes. The floor was sticky and we had black stuff all over our feet.

The toilet clogged and we had to get a plunger.

One issue that really bothered me was the details of the hotel said breakfast was available. It was not. And it being a Sunday morning, most places on the island were closed.

I added pictures of what the rag looked like when we wiped our feet off. Very yucky.

Think motel here, not hotel. We were disappointed.

This is not a hotel, it’s much more like a motel. Staff was pleasant and understanding and very nice. However, we had to change rooms due to a terrible, weird, ozone type smell. The air conditioning also made a loud noise. So, they put us in a different room.

The property is spread out and it’s difficult to find which building you may be staying in. Parking was weird and it’s tough to even drive around that place.

This is one of those listings where the pictures are very misleading. The rooms aren’t as nice as the pictures show you and quite a bit smaller than they look. This is an old place that they’ve updated quite a bit but it still feels…..cheap. Had it not been so late and us being exhausted from our drive here I would’ve booked something elsewhere.

If you just need a clean, cheap room, then this will do. The staff are very nice and there is a restaurant here. Little get away with your spouse or get away to relax and chill? This isn’t the place.

We ended up walking into our room and immediately setting our bags down and calling to ask for a refund and booking a Hilton further down the road. The room was run down, dirty (smooshed bugs on the walls, stains on the walls, etc) and had a random board nailed across the very poor condition flooring. The outside is run down, pavement is in very poor condition, there is no signage directing people to outbuildings, the light inside the door didn’t work, there’s no sink or mirror in the bathroom and the walls were PAPER THIN. We could hear people walking around and clearing the throat from the room next door. The pictures on Expedia are not a true representation of what this “hotel” (motel) is. Suck it up and spend the extra $40 a night to stay ON the Outer Banks. You won’t regret it but you might regret staying here.

According to the manager at the desk, this property was only taken over by Wyndham in mid February. They have not put their mark on it yet and it is still a budget, roadside motel. Very reasonably priced for the island, but between the carry-over from the previous property and it being off-season it was clearly not Wyndham caliber.
