The rooms were very clean! I even mop before I stay in a room and it was definitely cleaned prior to our arrival. The breakfast was pretty mid but it was still convenient. Even the outdoor bathrooms were very clean and maintained. The experience was great! It felt pretty private and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

First time here. Close to everything we were wanting to see. Property was clean and well maintained. Staff was very helpful. Very good breakfast and they offered ice for your cooler at the office. Seems to be oriented toward families with many things for kids to do outside. Rooms were a good size but the sliding door for the bathroom was not what I expected. Only other thing is low shower pressure. Would definitely stay here again. Great restaurant directly across the street!

Our room was located right next to employee entrance, a heady door, that was open and closed all the time, slamming shut in all hours, 2 am of 6 am, 7 am as they were taking their breaks, leaving or coming… kept waking us up every night. During the day employees park their cars in visitors spots, so that takes up a lot of space, especially where their entrance is… so right where we were staying. Also the room had to sheer curtains, so unless you want to keep your room like a dungeon all day… everybody who talks by, again traffic is heavy in that spot with employees, looks into your room, so that was not cool either. First day, after we arrived, the cleaning service arrived before 9 am to clean room, little too early after long trip. True, we didn’t use do not disturb tag, but we also didn’t know they were providing this service… hardly anyone does these days… the lady was very nice, but didn’t speak any English and we had hard time communicating to her to leave us some fresh towels and a few garbage bags to charge our trash can.
Front desk people were very sweet and attentive. The whole property was kept up, older, but nice and clean. The location is definitely the biggest thing, which is great, right in the middle of everything and on water!

Our Jr. Suite was tidy, kept clean, and was spacious for the price paid. The only things I would complain about is the hardness of the beds and the \"eco friendly\" / \"low flow\" toilets. On our final night then smart tv was giving some issues. Parking spaces seemed kind of tight, use caution if driving a large vehicle. The cafe was open daily for Continental Breakfast but the choices remained the same everyday albeit it was included with the stay. It also has a \"easy\" access to walk right on the beach, down a sand dune. Lots of local shops and restaurants were very close by.

This is our second time staying at John Yancy. Its nothing fancy but it has a great breakfast with a beautiful gazebo to eat at if you choose. Staff is nice. My biggest complaint was the wifi connection at night. It kept buffering or disconnecting which made it frustrating with little ones.

Very comfortable and clean king bed--plenty of firm pillows. The door latch was very lose, as if somebody had tried to bust the door down multiple times--but it was still holding. The building and room is aged, but adequate, but should have cost less. Most things are pretty average, but the shower had a real nice shower head, and a nice, well-marked chorus of body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers.

The hotel is in the middle of renovations, so there’s that. Great location and check in staff was friendly. For the price we paid for an oceanfront room, the room was ok. It had been updated, but there were cigarette ashes on our balcony and hair all over our room floor. The bathroom ceiling had mold. The neighbors that stayed near us Saturday night were obnoxiously loud til 4:30am, but that’s not the hotels fault.

This was by far one of the coolest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The porch with the Adirondack chairs right there at the sand was just perfect. Everything inside the room was clean and really convenient- plenty of outlets and the right kind of furniture to make the space functional and comfortable.

This was a very nice stay in the off-season. They've got a great access point for the beach and a lovely covered seating area as well to stay in the shade while being close to the beach. The breakfast was fine. They have no elevators and the ice machine is a bit of a haul from where we stayed but I would stay there again.

We had an ocean front room with a lovely balcony on the top floor (2nd) of the building. The room was good, but with no elevator, I definitely got my steps in carrying luggage up several flights of stairs. Breakfast was a standard continental menu. The check in and check out staff were friendly!

Room was the CUTEST! Bathroom was huge. One of the cleanest (like sparkling clean) places we have ever stayed. It is right on the beach with easy, easy beach access. Large beach area for hotel. Wonderful two-story, covered deck area. A two-minute walk to Swells'a brewery :). If we ever have the opportunity to return to the OBX, John Yancey is where we will stay.
